Ok, so Moa will still destroy our pets. That’s fine with me. Just PLEASE make it so that it “kills” them instead of simply poofing them out of existence. The fact that their on death traits don’t activate when they disappear after you’ve been transformed is what really makes being Moa’d such an aggravating experience for Necros.

Sigil of Superior Fire/air working as intended?

Personally, I don’t believe sigil of fire and sigil of air work together either. They never seem to proc at the same time or even near the same time. I’m guessing they both share the same 5 sec cd. I could be wrong but from all my time playing (before I just switched them out) it certainly feels that way.

One of the main points I thought Anet wanted to make was that you could play how you wanted? You don’t have to be a tank (“defensive profession”), a healer, or a dps; you can free yourself from those archetypes.

Honestly, I’m not seeing too much of that except there are really no dedicated heals. Necro has hardly any TRULY viable builds (not builds that just manage not to completely suck) for pvp and that’s a problem for a lot of people. It’s even more a problem for the people who don’t like the style of those few viable builds.

Personally, I’m just taking a break until they fix the only class I really have any interest in playing. I’ll just keep checking the forums and hoping to see a huge patch/overhaul of necromancer skills/traits/mechanics/BUGS.

Which healing skill do you use in PvE?

I run a “Cleric’s” minion master build and I use well of blood it’s not essential for keeping my minions up but it does provide a nice burst if I they need it. I rarely need to heal myself at all since I keep regeneration rolling indefinitely and the minions tank pretty much all of the damage and draw my conditions.

I’ve looked at both builds but I’m not seeing how Mending is the best heal skill. I’m guessing because those builds were made before Mending’s CD was increased to 25s and Signet’s reduced to 20s?

Spectral Walk patch was actually a nurf.

@Senti you don’t HAVE to teleport back. Just don’t hit the button again?

I really like the way the skill works now. I didn’t like that I couldn’t control when I ported back in the first place. Only thing I’m not loving about this skill now is that I can’t teleport back to my original spot if I’m in mid-air. That would make this skill absolutely wonderful.

Why is the crit % coupled with condition dmg trait?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Outlaw.4078

Outlaw.4078

I think that’s silly. If the line stats were Precision + Crit damage (makes sense) and it had conditions that proc’d on crit that would be synergy. It’d be even better synergy if you had Condition Damage + Condition Duration (MAKES SENSE) in the same line as well because you could just put your points in those two lines and be working toward your goal.

Necro trait lines have terrible stat combinations. There’s really no other way of putting it. Like why would a condition necro want to waste points in power just to get condition duration? How would a power spec necro really benefit from that? True they’d each get minor bonuses: condition spec would have a bit more initial damage and power would get a bit more dot damage, but that’s not what makes sense and not what a lot of people want to do.

Instead of balancing the class skills/mechanics they take away your option to choose the way you want to play. You can’t be fully committed to condition damage because you HAVE to have power and they punish you for that extra bit of power. You can’t be fully committed to power/crit because you HAVE to have extra condition damage and they punish you for it.

Honestly, I’ve been playing Necro for hundreds of hours and I like the class but not truly having the option to build my character the way I want it and having the way they force you to build it be completelykitten is making me want to do something different.

What’s the point of toughness and condition duration? I mean if we’re going to pick and choose let’s pick what would sync the best:

Condition damage + Condition Duration
Toughness + Vitality
Healing + Boon Duration
Precision + Crit Damage
Power + Life Force Pool….meh can’t be perfect >.>

Regarding the blast finishers, I’ve noticed that the Mark of Blood from the Mark of Evasion trait acts as a blast finisher while the normal one (#2 staff) doesn’t.

And I also tested the Life Force regeneration bug. Neither Life Force nor health was recovered when Full of Life proc’d (it wasn’t on CD) in DS. Also didn’t get any health regen while in DS while having over 1min of regeneration before going in. If it DID work though, that would increase our survivability by a VERY large margin.

Tested and Transfusion healed only 292/tick with 572 healing and still only 292/tick with 1693 healing.

Life Transfer does heal mark of horror minions when traited though.

@Hashes: Full “Cleric’s” exotic armor/weapon/access, +300 from Blood Magic, +250 from Sigil of Superior Life, +190 from 5 Superior Rune of Dwayna and 1 Rune of the Water, +100 from food, and a bit from Death into Life.

Why do Jewelers get hosed at 400?

in Crafting

Posted by: Outlaw.4078

Outlaw.4078

Orci why don’t you READ any of the posts? We’re talking about RARES not exotics mmkay?

Anyway, I’d have to agree that Jewelcrafting being so expensive to level is probably because Jewels are usable by every single person whereas anything from any other profession besides cooking is not. Makes perfect sense tbh. EXCEPT for the ectos needed for rares. That’s seriously unfair.

As someone who has leveled both Jeweler and Armorsmith (and weaponsmithing/cooking…but who cares?):
I was surprised that I had to use ectos for my last 25 points in jeweler, but let us take a look at an optimal path for the last 25 points in both of these.

For Jeweler you have to use:

  • 1 Embellished Brilliant Recipe to match the choice of crystals. (231 karma)
  • 3 Glob of Ectoplasm
  • 15 Crystals that you decided to use with the recipe
  • 3 Mithril Figurine (6 Mithril Ingots or 12 Mithril Ore)

Discover/ craft 3 Embellished Brilliant gems and boom done! Level 400!

For Armorsmithing:

  • 2 Intricate Silk Insignia recipes (1344 karma or 672 karma each)
  • 30 fine mats of each matching the two insignias (60 fine mats total)
  • 12 Bolt of Silk (24 silk scraps)
  • 8 Mithril Ingot (16 mithril ore)
  • 44 Spool of Silk

Craft 2 Mithril Boot Casings, 2 Mithril Boot Linings, 2 Mithril Gaunlet Plates, 2 Mithril Gauntlet Linings then use the discovery pane to combine those with the insignas.
And then you are at 400 for that!

If you really want I can do the prices taking the cheapest of each from the TP if I straight up bought them (You should place orders for cheaper prices).

Eh I have the time I will!!

Prices are as of September 17, 2012 5.30 server time.

For Jeweler 375-400:

  • 3 Glob of Ectoplasms = 72s15c @ 24s5c each
  • 15 Crystals(Sapphire) = 16s65c @ 1s11c each
  • 12 Mithril Ore = 2s76c @ 23c each
  • 231 Karma

For Armorsmithing 375-400:

  • 30 Large Fangs = Roughly 30s @ 1s each
  • 30 Potent Venom Sacs = Roughly 38s40c @ 1s28c each
  • 24 silk scraps = 6s72c @ 28c each
  • 16 mithril ore = 3s68c @ 23c each
  • 44 Spool of Silk = 24s @ 4s80c per 10 (6 left over)
  • 1344 karma

So Jeweler vs Armorsmithing 375-400 total costs are:

Jeweler = 91s56c and 231 Karma

Armorsmithing = 1g2s80c and 1344 karma

So as you can see Jeweler 375-400 is not getting hosed, in fact it is roughly 11s and 1000 karma cheaper than Armorsmithing.

TL;DR??
Jeweler is about the same cost as Armorsmithing.

Why don’t you retry that again using Rubies, which would actually be what a lot of people craft since they’re used for Berserker’s gear?

Bloodthirst not increasing minion siphon is a huge bug/debuff

The number 4 under minion game mechanics is wrong though. Minions don’t despawn unless the player doesn’t have the minions on their underwater bar and on their land bar in the same position. That’s how it’s been for me anyway.

Guys, please stick to the topic. This is a bug reporting thread and anything else really shouldn’t be here. Let’s focus on letting Anet know about bugs first and then hopefully we can get some suggestions implemented.

I’m not sure if damage/minion damage/condition damage is supposed to increase on the tooltip when you use +damage skills but it would surely be a great help if it did.

The skill spectral walk says nothing about being able to cancel the teleport or receiving vulnerability when you cancel it.

It doesn’t show any of the secondary effects of skills in the skill window. If you check the skill while it’s on your bars though it will show the secondary effect.=

Elite :

Lich Form de-summons your Minions in general if used.

Flesh Golem de-summons when going underwater.

flesh golem (like all summons) desummon only if your underwater utility skill its not flesh golem.
and if you keep on water surface (where you get blank skills), minions wont desummon.

No, the Flesh Golem desummons if you go into the water. If you look at the skill it has a water drop with an x over it meaning it can’t go into the water. Try going under water and putting it on your bars.

  • Can’t start channeled skills mid jump, though you can start it before you jump and it won’t cancel.
  • Can use attacks that require a target without having a target, essentially wasting the CD. Very problematic for long cast skills like Shadow Fiend’s blind and Bone Fiend’s immobilize which will go on CD but not even hit the mob before it dies.

Edit: Also, Kelthos they did at one point have an internal CD for DS and it was actually a big problem. Some people just go into DS to activate some skills or take a big hit and being forced to stay in it for any period of time was counter-productive. I’d suggest just not hitting it twice

So ArenaNet when do you guys going to give some Necro love?

in Necromancer

Outlaw.4078

Yeah, seeing that patch note with EVERY class but Necro kinda made me sad. Worst part was the ranger update to pet AI and control while we can’t even depend on our minions to attack when we want them to.

I don’t believe the Necro is weak by any means. What’s bothering me is the extent to which it is bugged at the moment. I LOVE playing the class but not being able to do things that I SHOULD be able to do according to tooltips or being held back by things I can’t control (like Minion AI and glitched events/skill points) is making me want to wait until things get fixed before picking the game up again.

Don’t know anything about Vanilla WoW but I was really looking forward to playing Necro in GW2. I’ve been playing it for well over 300+ hours and I do like the class. However, I think I’m going to just take a break from GW2 for a bit until they resolve the numerous issues Necros have so I won’t be learning to play the wrong way and developing bad habits.

Does Healing power effect siphoning?

in Necromancer

Posted by: Outlaw.4078

Outlaw.4078

You can keep the regeneration from Mark of Blood indefinitely on multiple allies (I do this for my minions as much as possible) and it is a pretty good heal (that does damage) even if you don’t have healing. Life transfer + Transfusion is also a very good on demand AoE heal (that again does substantial damage). Well of Blood isn’t too shabby either. I spec my gear +power/toughness/+healing power (any Cleric’s gear) and I use the same skills that I use to keep my minions up to keep party members alive.

I’d say necros have less large heals because of how much regen we have with traits like Vampiric and Vampiric Master. Vampiric Master heals you for a HUGE amount over time, and though not every Necro will be using minions they need to balance the classes overall.

Path Of Midnight Bug

in Necromancer

Posted by: Outlaw.4078

Outlaw.4078

Path of Midnight is an adept Soul Reaping trait that is supposed to reduce the CD of all Death Shroud skills by 15%. If you look at the tool tips of all the DS skills while using this trait you will see that the CDs have been adjusted accordingly. However, if you use Life Transfer (while having the “Show Skill Recharge” option on) you will see that it still has a 40sec CD instead of the 34sec CD shown on the tool tip.
