PVE - Exotic Armor - Valk - Cleric - Knight?

If you have altruistic healing, you probably also have 5% toughness to precision. Thus, I would say Knight’s armor and Berserker’s jewelry in most cases.

No different than Runes of Divinity versus some other Rune. Stat distribution is just a little different.

Mystic Forge Bugs

2 level 80 crafted rings and 2 level 80 crafted accessories, all green, aren’t a match for the mystic forge. Why?

Also, I put in 4 level 80 crafted accessories, all green, and got nothing back.

New Guardian players need to pay attention to this thread.

The hammer can combine great offense with great survivability. I’m currently running 0/5/30/30/5 b/c I like shouts and I feel very powerful in PvE. Don’t just mindlessly choose greatsword, look at all your options.

Question for Brutaly: Are you sure that the Superior Runes of Dwayna can trigger Altruistic Healing?

Underwater Combat: The issues I have with it

Thanks caresse. I literally just discovered that. Maybe I’m an idiot, but I assumed the game would keep my utility skills active if they worked underwater.

A lot of these issues other people are having sound like bugs.

Maybe, but the bugs are exacerbated by the fact that they took all my skills away.

Why I don’t like it:

  • Randomly invulnerable enemies (this is worse underwater than on land)
  • Too fast respawns, which is worse underwater b/c you can’t kill mobs as quickly b/c your skills are kitten (see below)
  • Most (all?) utility skills do not work underwater – this is a straight up nerf to your character
  • Reduced weapon choices (another nerf)
  • Overpowered/buggy enemies (sharks)
  • Good gear is hard to get

Level Scaling is not for "rewards"

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

OutsiderSubtype.4329

My beef with downscaling is that I’m running level 80 risks (repair costs) and incurring level 80 expenses (waypoints) but I’m not getting level 80 karma rewards, renown heart rewards, or loot.

It’s like asking me to pay gold to play with friends or guildmates.

Honestly, I would do it more if they changed some of the factors above. They don’t even need to change all of them.

Here's what it is, and here's what it isn't.

1 is mostly untrue.

You have level 80 costs when exploring (waypoints, repairs) but you do not get level 80 rewards from DEs, renown hearts, or area completion.

There is a chance of level 80 loot dropping from mobs, but it is a very small chance compared to Orr or Frostgorge Sound.

Shields are amazing

So I could be using this difficult to use skill to grant my team protection, or I could be using Hold the Line on a shorter cooldown which also grants regeneration?

You will say that Hold the Line is a utility. True, but if my goal is buffing my team there are better ways to do it than Shield of Judgment.

I do see the value of Scepter/Shield for some situations in dungeons. But it’s a niche role. For general play the shield is lackluster.

To all the people saying Shield of Judgement gives protection to your entire team:

How the kitten do you pull that off when it’s a small, difficult to aim cone and your allies are mostly behind you and moving around?

It almost never affects more than one person in my experience.

I’d rather give allies all around me protection with a shout or retaliation with a hammer.

Why salvage for ectos when you can just by them?

In my experience most rares, even level 80, sell for less than 25 silver on the BLTC.

MMO Manifesto vs. what we have now

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

OutsiderSubtype.4329

The OP was right to create this thread. If you call something a “manifesto” you betterkittenwell live up to it. A manifesto is meant to be bold but also to guide your every action.

The fact is that GW2, while a very good game in many respects, differs significantly from the manifesto. Many people, like me, bought the game expecting it to be more like what’s described in the manifesto.

Risen Grubs disabled? Why?

Terrible communication by Anet.

Nothing about this in the patch notes. Nothing about this in the Dev Tracker.

Just a cryptic and worry-inducing error message in game that conveys none of the information that players actually need, namely that they will get no experience or loot from killing grubs.

Things that personality could/should affect:

  • NPC dialogue in your home instance
  • Your character’s idle animations
  • Items (esp. cosmetic ones) that would only be equippable w/ a certain personality

Ideally it would affect your dialogue in story cutscenes as well – this should be included in future expansions.

Defending the spirits was boring and repetitive. Getting drunk was fun and like my own personal version of The Hangover. Haven’t done any of the other Norn stories yet.

Have to agree. It’s the final mission. No level 80 character gives a kitten about level 78 greens. It should be Level 80 rares or exotics.

I disagree, the points in Toughness are fine. Toughness from gear will go to precision as well.

I think this build needs to focus more narrowly on one or two particular strengths.

The utility setup seems weird to me.The spirit weapon won’t be very useful without any traits that buff spirit weapons.

Here is what I would do:

  • Replace Sword of Justice with Judge’s Intervention.
  • Replace Searing Flames with something else. Honestly I think any other Radiance adept trait would be more useful.
  • Replace Pure of Heart with Writ of Exaltation.

Then you would have a much more focused build with strong burning and symbols.

Tarnished Coast - Looking For Guild

OutsiderSubtype.4329

Level 80 Guardian looking for guild. A few things:

  • I’m on Tarnished Coast and don’t want to move.
  • I’m looking for a guild with 3 to 100 members, much bigger and it gets unwieldy.
  • Lore appropriate guild name and tag would be nice, especially if it’s Norny.
  • Membership must be mature and respectful, no racism/homophobia/misogyny etc.
  • Diverse membership is ideal, I would love to chat with people from overseas, etc.
  • I’m primarily interested in PvE and SPvP. Little interest in dungeons and WvW.
  • I’ll do some light RP if you want but it’s not a primary focus.
  • For personal reasons I won’t be able to voice chat anytime soon.

Send me a message here or in-game if you’re recruiting.

Power of the Virtuous or Inscribed Removal would be better in this build than Courageous Return, which I view as basically worthless. If you’re rallying that much you’re screwed anyway.
