I thought Fort Aspenwood was a Great WvW Server though I moved to TC for some friends, especially if you wanted more Guild fights. The guilds work well together, though separately, and they have some really great fight commanders. I also love TC, because We have a lot of fun and we never give up.

Another New Map would be nice, perhaps with some Underground fighting. However, its much easier and better if they converted EOTM to a ground map, and made the results in the first (1st) map count towards the scores.

LOL, This comes from someone on JQ, when JQ does this to EVERY other server, but cries about the one server that destroys them. If Anet wants to fix this Problem, its simple. First, the servers in tier 1 should get no add-on servers. These should be restricted to tier 3 and 4 matchups, with them going to tier 2 if their matched server does.
Second, make it Free or Very Low cost in Gems to move to the bottom half servers. These are usually the ones matched up with higher Servers.
Third, Give increased rewards/Pipps/Claim tickets to those in the bottom half servers.
Fourth, Give some real Permanent Buffs to those in the bottom half servers, and give these Same Buffs to those on outmanned maps regardless of Server.
Fifth, Heavily Increase the cost in Gems to move to a high or full server. Perhaps Double the price, or triple if full.
All of these Encourage People/guilds to move downward, and thus create more balance

I was in Orgeswatch cut, which Tarnished coast owned. Crystal Desert Took the supply Camp Pangloss, and the Sentry near Veloka. They then went up a hill just south of that sentry and outside Pangloss. From there, a couple of Crystal desert players were able to glide into Orgeswatch cut and kill the guards.
They then jumped out when several of us ran towards them. enemy player are not supposed to be able to glide into friendly towers.

Why 300 range on guard Staff 1 now?

On the guardian, Reducing the range of the Staff from 600 to 300 Makes the Staff Worthless as a ranged weapon for a guardian. In WvW the staff is the only Method for a guardian to gain speed and thus is usually the only Ranged weapon they use. By reducing the range to 300, it makes it worthless as a ranged weapon for them as at 300, they at better off wielding a melee weapon.
In addition, with only a 300 range, they have no real ability to engage and kill enemies, or in Large moving melees. Thus we are left with the Following choices- Waste a weapon slot on an almost useless Staff to gain speed, use a scepter for ranged attacks but then are highly susceptible to sneak and gank attacks due to being far behind everyone else, or no ranged at all. Please, return the range to Guardians and give us a viable ranged weapon. At the current 300 range, you are already at melee range. its worthless.
With this change, I am better off playing a warrior or one of the light classes then a guardian. this way I either get the full benefit of melee or the full benefit of ranged attacks. as the Staff 1 attack was the only viable attack. the number 2 is still worthless, and the others attacks are negligible in terms of ranged attacks.

So, if I remember correctly, Arenanet said we would never have to pay for an exspansion for GW2. We would get the exspansions periodically for free. Additionally, it sounds very much like if you don’t buy it, you will get left behind, no longer have a living story, and really get screwed on WvW (what guild would want half the members that can’t enter all the maps and support their guild).
You can add a lot of flash, but making WvW unbalanced (the new map does that by limiting it to people with the exspansion) even more. You never made Jewelry and cooking to 500, never listened to the players to find out what they wanted, especially in WvW. WvW has been totally ignored by Anet, except when you tinker with it and screwed it up with stupid cannons in EOTM, no white swords, and siege disablers.
These are the reasons people have lost interest. I won’t be spending money on mostly PvE flash, which they should have given us for free like they promised anyways. You want to increase interest, listen to the people who play. Fix the problems, and see what people want

Having been in SOR when they were in T1, and knowing that they were headed to T2 and the massive blow-out between TW and CHOO after S1 caused the mass exodus.

As a Euro guild, we had no choice but to move. The rest jumped to stay in T1 as long as it wasn’t with TW.

T1 is not as glamorous as most think, facing massive blobs all the time, and guilds constantly jumping servers either to be in T1 or to get away from the Blobs.

The point is, don’t worry about PPT. Have a community meeting of the leaders. Organize yourselves, set raid times, go into WvW and have fun. Create Specific WvW guilds if you need to. (watching Dods rage quit his raid over getting wiped several times by the necro parade was hilarious)

Get the PvE guilds to come to WvW at least one night a week. Eventually these things can build up your WvW base.

The community leaders can encourage their members to do raid nights, also, doing events in WvW can be fun. In Tarnished coast, they have Quaggan races, Golem races, Necromancer parades, Etc. For us, its about having Fun, not winning.

You don’t have to Win, you just need to have fun. The winning will come.

If you really want to test this, design a map where people can test it freely. Allow the current matchups to be matched up in the special map, and allow feedback after one or two weeks.
The score on these maps wouldn’t affect the regular matchup (like EOTM), and it would allow you to try future ideas. Maybe run Tests there for a 4 week period. This way, you will get much more useful information, be able to modify things on the fly, and come up with a much better product.

Ok, putting my two cents in. The PPK sounds good at first, but the simple fact is the server usually on top every week will still be the server on top. It encourages more “Blobing”. after all, the more you have, the more you can kill.
And add to this that now those “blobs” can run through and cap everything without you knowing they are even there until they’ve already taken your keep or garrison.
These add absolutely nothing to WvW, and takes what little Guild or zerg fighting there is left away. Its already tough enough holding onto a Keep against a 80 man Blob with Warning from White swords, now it will be impossible.
John, you think you are helping, but this is already ruining a badly managed WvW. The idea is to encourage a more balanced matchups. You can only do this by penalizing those that can queue maps. Do something that will encourage Guild Fighting After all this is “Guild Wars” not “Blob Wars”
Simply put, if you can’t figure a way to get people to move from the top servers to the lower servers, or design something to encourage guild fighting, any changes you make are worthless.
Penalties and rewards. People WILL NOT scout or watch a Keep, much less a Tower for long period of time, and expecting 15 plus people to do it is crazy. Even the top tier already have trouble doing this.

Actually, I like this as an option to buy in bulk if you wish. However that being said, not everyone can afford to buy that many Gems at one time. Allowing an option to still buy smaller amounts as in the past would make this excellent.

Removing the White Swords is a total Disaster even in the top Tiers. because removing white swords would remove almost any chance to save a Tower or keep, including your Garrison, unless you have scouts at every location. A typical map would require anywhere from 4 to 15 people to scout, and that doesn’t include camps.

its hard enough to get 4 people to scout, much less 15, and 15 people is a significant portion of manpower. In addition to no loot or reward while scouting. People want to Fight and they want to take objectives, not sit in a Tower scouting for long periods of time.

Even on the top tier servers, it will degenerate into karma trains, and the eventual end of WvW because why sit in a Tower for an hour when I get rewards for taking one?

The white swords serve multiple useful purposes. Everything from distractions to early warning to blocking a Waypoint. There is already a lot of scouting done in the game, please don’t make this worse.

This would also remove a lot of the tactics the players use to take objectives as now all you have to do is find where there is no scout, and you take a Waypointed keep. People won’t scout more because you remove the white swords, if anything they will scout less, because its freaking boring!

Solution to fix the population imbalance

To honestly fix the player imbalance, there are only five things that can be done.

1- Forcefully relocate guilds to low pop servers, even if only for the season tournament (not recommended)

2- Stop ALL transfers and new accounts to the tier 1 and 2 servers for 6 months, unless they move down a tier. I.E. Change them from very high to blocked.

3- Offer big incentives/rewards to those who move down at least 2-3 tiers. The lower the tier, the bigger the reward/incentive. And allow free transfers if they transfer down.

4- Merge the European and American servers. The coverage on both are during the downtimes of the other. Mix them so that the top server is paired with the bottom server of the other. The Asian countries tend to fill in the rest of the time zones.

This doesn’t even have to be permanent, but could be used as an alliance/meta-server type thing. this would result in servers constantly moving up and down the tiers, creating different matchups each week, making the WvW play more fun, and would eventually result in more players in the lower tiers.

5- Use most of the PvE map (excluding, Dry top, and Southsun) Modify it and use existing stuctures as Keeps, Towers, Camps, Objectives. Each Server would have one Keep to begin from, and these would change each week.
This would allow all of the servers to play against each other. Map population limits would remain in force, but now you could have actual guilds fighting rather then blobs.
It would allow for massive Havoc and solo opportunities everywhere, reduce queues, and with almost 23 maps (borderlands) to choose from, it would really open up the possibilities.
Cities could either be safe zones, or have safe zones(guild halls) and fighting in the various sections.
All you would have to do is, remove most of the Waypoints, modify towers and fortified camps to make them full towers. Places like claypool and Beetledun could be made into keeps. You could keep the portals or remove them.

Adapt A Dev: A Wasted Last Chance?

I would like to say thank you to both of the Devs that joined our guild (both named Chris) during the season. Our guild welcomed them with open arms, and after the first day, they were very comfortable with us, and Vice versa.

We helped them get onto our Guild webpage, into mumble for our server, and even the music channel we use.

By the third day, they were asking questions and getting our opinions and very frank answers. We were honest (and made no bones about how bad the decision was on Siege disablers.).

Overall my guild had a very pleasurable and fun experience with the Devs, and they admitted they had never done WvW, but by the end of the season, we even had one of them Commanding our guild raid.

For the record, both Devs are still in our guild, and they are always welcome to join us on our WvW raids. They know they can always ask us questions and get honest and frank answers.

if you remove PPT entirely, there is no winners, and no losers. Your server gets rewards based on total points earned. make the points simple like this example:
1 point: Camp or tower taken, bloodlust capped or stopped
2 points: Tower defended, keep Waypointed
3 points: Keep or SMC taken
4 points: Keep defended
5 points: SMC defended
At the end of the match, you can receive tokens based on your overall score for your server, which you can spend on rewards (ascended rings, infusions, weapons etc.) make the weapons at the citadel reliant on these tokens AND Badges of honor (not gold)
The amount of tokens could also be adjusted based on time played in WvW, say 1 hour equals 5% received, 20 hours 100%.

Stagnation. If you fight the same opponents for months at a time, WvW is stagnant. Without rebalancing the Servers and without any incentive to move to a lower tier server, the WvW community will always move towards the top servers.

The reason for this is many, but mainly due to two reasons, the desire to be on a winning server, and the desire for fights.

Without coverage, you cannot get fights. the only way to get coverage for all servers would be to merge the European servers and the American servers. the European servers lack coverage when the American servers have it, and vice versa.

I know the arguments against it: Language barriers. Truth be told, on the American servers, we already have lots of Europeans playing, and language has never been an issue on them. We have Brazilians, Spanish speaking, Korean, Japanese, Filipinos, etc.
The Europeans log off around 10-11pm Server time, about the time the American servers start playing. The Americans log off around 6 am server time. while the Europeans start logging back on. with the Asian countries filling in.

Server lag. Most of the Europeans that play on American servers don’t suffer any server lag, so this is pretty much bogus.

Tie the top European servers with the bottom American servers, and vice versa with varying degrees in between. you create quasi metaservers or alliances that will do much to balance coverage, balance play, and in the end balance the servers because now you will have servers constantly moving up and down the tiers and able to compete against each other.

Last, the outmanned notice doesn’t mean much when armor is repaired for free anyways. It definitely needs to be buffed to aid the outmanned borderland

The answer for myself and almost all my guildies is simple: No to the season
Yes to the rewards

We are a WvW guild and the seasons put too much stress and wear and tear on the players. You see this afterward with people transferring, and heavy downtime (read: Not playing WvW) for weeks afterward as there is no enthusiasm to play GW2 once the season is over.

The rewards are ok, but since they are stuff we can mostly get in WvW anyways, or have gotten in past seasons, they are not truly exciting or original.

I’d like to say that I think all of the commanders that have the courage to tag up are Great!. That goes for all Servers and commanders.
One comment though for some commanders, cut down on the cursing. Not needed. People will actually understand commands better without it.
Some special commendations-
Dragun Knight(YB)- Great commander on Yaks Bend, and loyal to his Server.
Chris Goes Boom(YB)- Always innovative (Yaks bend last I knew)
Desdemones(TC)- Without the doubt the best Guild Leader I’ve had (SOR/TC)
Green Arrow(TC)- You can’t have more fun in WvW then following this guy! (SOR/TC)
Indo (SOS)- another great commander, and knows how to play

Its pretty simple. BG isn’t like by anyone because they can’t play unless they have 70+ blobs. TC and JQ are fighting each other in the tournaments. They just both agree killing BG is more important and fun, so we are concentrating our efforts on them.
Maguuma puts up more of a fight then BG does, at least they aren’t afraid to fight open battles. BG won’t do this unless they outnumber you 2-1, Why attack the other when we are killing BG, and yes we will help kill BG while the other is doing it.
BG is bleeding, because they are just mean in WvW, and queue times of 3+ hours. All I can say is, Tier 1 and tier 2 do appreciate all the BG players transferring over.

Game Updates: Guild World Events, Megaservers, WvW

Hi,
No problems with the update, except two. The World events are confusing, its hard to know when they are occurring. The more serious is the dailies. Adding the PvP is fine, but you took away most of the others, having around 16 dailies with 2-3 PvP and 2-3 WvW and around 10 PvE would be great. But having just 10 of them and half of them WvW and PvP just sucks.
Forcing people to do stuff they don’t like isn’t good. I don’t like PvP and refuse to play it, forcing me to do it just to get 10 Achievement points per day blows. So now i’m not even bothering with dailies because it isn’t worth wasting my time.
The concept of the game when I started was that you could do what you wanted. there were no restrictions, and if you liked one aspect of the game, you played it for that. And each aspect of the game enabled you to get the daily laurels.
Now with the change you made, like today, if I can’t do dodging, I can’t get the daily laurel. so no use even bothering anymore. The only effect of forcing people to do aspect of the game they don’t like is, they stop doing other aspects, or stop playing.

- Rubber banding, Skill lag, or skills won’t even trigger, trouble getting into portals or inability to Waypoint, Sometimes DCing,

•What server are you on?
- Tarnished Coast
•Has there ever been a time when you or a friend are experiencing lag, while others in your party are not?
- Yes, usually around and after Daily updates

•Has there ever been a time where one party in a map is experiencing lag, while other parties in that same map are not?
- Yes, same above

•Do you experience the lag at very specific times? •For example, when 1 zerg is facing another zerg.
- Usually in the evenings aound Daily updates, and lasts for hours. Sometimes during the day if large zergs are in combat

•If so, can you estimate how many players are in each zerg?
- Usually 50-60+ around 120-150+ players
