If you think GS/H isn’t viable in sPvP you’re just not that good at it.

I, however, am; and I can assure you, it works incredibly well for me.

In fact, pretty certain I’ve still got screenshots on my desktop (on laptop currently) of a trash talking MetaMedi Guard with GS/S-F getting completely stomped by me and my “un-ranged” build…

…Just because it doesn’t work for you doesn’t mean someone else can’t play well enough for it to be fully viable for them

MediHunter GS/LB…Yes please

Much as I’m enjoying my GS/HM combo atm I have a feeling I’m going to thoroughly enjoy the addition of a ranged two-hander for Guardians; I look forward to the full inclusion of DragonHunters, silly as the name may sound, immensely

Now I can’t say with 100% certainty that it’s by any means an easy fix

But it honestly seems to me that they could just find a way to lock in the traits used and the utility skills chosen; equipment could be more or less left to us

I mean they have the whole dealio down in GW1, attribute lines n’ skill bars; why not here as well? (May be a perfectly good reason; but hey, who but they know?)

Losing THM was a bit of a fish, BUT, one of my favorite parts of Ham was/is its #2 skill Mighty Blow; not only does it hit hard but it’s a blast finisher on a 5 second c/d…

…That’s friggen amazing folks considering how easily placed it is; area retal ftw!
(Not only that but you can most certainly use said finisher on others fields causing all sortsa awesomesauce to occur when teamed up with another field producer)

I’d much rather over think than under think; smart-sassafras > dumb-sassafras ;333

I do, however, agree that communication is key; the only issue is that most folks don’t communicate at all, much less effectively…

…As stated earlier, if I don’t feel comfortable enough with my current toon to carry in that particular situation I’ll swap out, yes, but quickly (when has anyone ever been waiting in any form of queue thinking, “doggit anyway, if only this were longer”…?)

See, that’s just it; only about 1 to 2/5ths of the team actually collaborates in such a way that would in turn benefit the team, much less so able to properly execute said plan…

…If more people actually did/could do so during that time it might honestly be worth it; but if everyone’s gonna merely stand ‘round with digits up their rears well then ready up mother fluffers it’s go time

PS: I’ve come to the point of “I’d better be good enough to carry if need be”

Oh, now you’ve done it…

…Actually, nothing of mine is cookie cutter (as cookie cutter builds are far too easy to counter considering they’re mostly run on incredibly PREDICTABLE patterns; yes, quick/minor tweaks are not only rather acceptable but encouraged if, of course, those tweaks don’t in turn undermine the rest of the build’s well thought out synergy) [Condi, DPS, CC, etc…], at all; you must’ve missed the “thought out, tried n’ true, tested to and through the blue” part (gotta love wordplay)

But yeah, you obviously don’t know me or my builds, at all (good luck tweaking for me or my toons if ever we meet there sucka); THEY ARE ALL PERSONALLY THOUGHT OUT, TESTED, TWEAKED, RE-TESTED AND TESTED AGAIN… (just for good measure)

I don’t do these tweaks based on who I’m facing; I do them based on what I’d noticed in the prior match…People like you really should just be struck by a bus, it’d clean up the gene pool so much faster; kitten this world and it being made for morons

Ok now dumb dumb, I’ll try to explain this one last time before I give up on that logic reflecting dome of yours entirely:

1) Build the build
2) Test the build (NO RANDOM TWITCH TWEAKS DUE TO LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN WHAT YOU’VE BUILT AND/OR WHO YOU’RE FACING)
3) Tweak build based on it’s strengths/weaknesses; leave the strengths, tweak the weaknesses…

So simple. So very very simple.

Who in the kittenbunnyrabbit attempts to build around an entire team comp, in 1 minute, without fully knowing what in the rabbitbunnykitten they’re actually running?… (Feel free to use the example stated a few posts up)

Edit: Wait wait wait, lemme guess, you politely ask them to divulge their builds before hand so you can have any sort of a chance at actually countering it properly; fer sure…

…Also, please, pit me against these 1min wonders so I can tear their faces off with the same build I’ll then use to do the same to the next team with; it’s this magical word I like to call “versatility”, it’s amaaaaaaaazing stuff folks, really is!

Huge PS: Anything one can create in 1min will be complete and utter rabbit turds compared to something thought out, tried n’ true, tested to and through the blue…

The thought should be put in before hand, unimpeded by time; and if you’re building something from the ground up in 1min it’ll probably end up failing so hard it won’t even be funny as you really have no idea what they’re actually running…

…“Ok, mostly Necs n’ Mes; I’ll trait more for dmg mitigation, OH GOOD GOD THEY’RE CONDI FML FML FML FML FML”

Yeah, try putting the thought in before hand so you don’t have to scramble when there’s a clock plopped directly on toppa ya…

How is this not making sense to anyone?? (I see that there are a few who get it, but very few, this saddens my brain) I’ve got my base build that gets minor tweaks if anything as ANYTHING MORE WOULD BE A COMPLETE REBUILD AND WOULD BE DONE WITH THOUGHT, UNIMPEDED, BEFORE EVEN ENTERING A MATCH

My apologies for all caps folks; it’s just that sometimes I honestly wonder how some people have made it this far in life without being struck by a bus for not looking both ways BEFORE they cross the street…

Because sharing is caring and one of today’s sPvP dailies is Guard/Thief Winner…

Honor-Mid, Bot, Mid
Valor-Mid, Mid, Mid
Zeal-Mid, Mid, Bot
[Of course, there are quite a few variants available; that’s one of this build’s particular draws, lil tweak here n’ there and you’re good to go with most any sorta situation]

GS/Ham [though, there is a staff variant that’s a bit better for PvE purposes]

Rune of Speed(Vit+8% quicker during/after battle)/Trav(AllStat+Boon/Condi) for permanently increased speed [Helps a ton bein full melle n’ all; huge kite reduction]

Marauder ammy as Guards have such a low initial Vit Pool

Air sig rec on GS +other options
Bloodlust on Ham +other options

Utils: LoW[Shelter variant very doable]—SC-JI-CoP—RF

Like most builds there are, of course, certain tricks that’ll work particularly well here but you’ll either have to inquire further or figure them out on your own

Palomid.9256

Alright, so I’ve been filling my bank with random gizmos, gadgets, and whozamuhwhatsits for the past couple years now (used storage toons as well) and yet I’ve still run clear out of space to store anymore; my toons are stacked to the brim and the 12 count storage space cap just isn’t cutting it any longer…

…What I wonder is, why is there even a cap? It’s just fictional space in a fictional place, it can’t take all too much extra data to keep all those 0s n’ 1s held in place considering the technically infinite amount of space available

So why then would I not be allowed to give the friendly folks at A-Net more money so that in turn I’ll be able to store more stuff; ergo, spend more money on said stuff?…

Short n’ dry of it: I feel that both others and myself would thoroughly appreciate the lifting and/or raising of the bank-storage cap (I promise to purchase at the very least 3 more) ;333

PS: And yes folks, I know you can indeed increase the collectible cap; this is not part of the issue, I’ve got far too many armor sets between all my toons, as well as runes, to keep together on top of all the random knick-knacks and the like that I’ve picked up along the way…

…Thoughts?

@BasSky:
Yes, it did cross my mind that yadayadayadaetcetcetc…

However, Guard is not the only class with ball busting bugs atm. Yet they’re the only class, in the history of GW2 [once again, correct me if I’m wrong] (played GW1 too; traits didn’t exist then the way they do now), who’s had a trait completely and utterly disabled, indefinitely, due to faulty fine tuning on the developers end; oh, and hot fixes have kinda sorta been how they’ve fixed just about every single issue to date when it comes to this particularly precious title…

…Also, this whole thing isn’t new news; I was reading postings about this soon after the June 23rd patch (yes that is recent but by no means is it breaking news, pun completely and utterly intended), so just now disabling it as if it happened a few hours ago and they’re catching it real quick like is a bountiful buncha bologna

I’d also like to restate that, for the most part, I commend A-Net for doing such an incredibly commendable job; merely meant to add a quick vent to the chimney of chipper chimers who’ve all got such nice things to say about things they don’t even semi-comprehend. My only “complaint” is that I don’t think this was the right way to go about fixing this particular issue; but hey, then again, what do I know right?…

@RogPot:
No worries bud, all is well, there was an issue with the late Symbolic Avenger trait that caused ridiculously large amounts of dmg to be dealt in tremendously small amounts of time with incredibly copious numbers of Guardians all banding together to break the game (weakened as it may’ve been by the massive shift) for themselves and others…

…I will survive; though I do think that it’s a teat beet ridiculous when I hop on the forums only to find an insane amount of QQing that things will never be fixed, that A-Net doesn’t care, and that they aren’t paying anyone any attention etc, etc, etc

Really? Could you imagine running a 24/7 virtual daycare for all of us??

By Balthazar’s beard, that spat’d be muckin awful…

Now, for my QQ “why me n’ my class” rant; considering how popular they seem to be these days:

Completely disabled A-Net? Really?…An entire GrandMaster trait just disabled (not merely modified, replaced, or out right nerfed) while we wait, indefinitely, for it to be fixed? Any other class(es) lose an(y) integral trait(s) indefinitely yet? Engis, Wars, Mes, Nec?…Any of the “other” particularly “OP” classes during this FotM?

Nope, not that I know of; if there are any, please feel free to inform and save me from my own misinformation…

I didn’t use that trait because it was broken, by any means. It just so happened to pair particularly well with my SymMed-Guard build, at the time. I don’t PvE anymore as I’ve gotten most of the gear I’ll ever want/need and am satisfied (sPvP n’ Gemstore for me); so that whole Teq thing n’ WvW is, on my end, like getting punished here in the US for something someone did in Taiwan and/or Western Samoa…

…But hey, muck it, avoided Burn Guard like the plague post-patch due, in part, to everyone QQing about it and the amount of cheese it apparently holds within its folds (phenomenally moist mental imagery there ay folks??)

Oh well, considering my well-rounded SymMed build has just lost a key component; BURN GUARD FTW, BURN GUARD FOREVER, BURN GUARD 4 LIFE!!!

Annnnnd now that all that’s out there, cool beans, I feel better; maybe all this QQing is just a cathartic way for people to release their fanatic frustrations over particular pent up passions…

PS: Though, when I say “passions”, I don’t mean folks who complain about aspects of the game so incredibly trivial that no one else even bothers to notice and/or mention them; to those people, there’s the door, we will not miss you…

Palomid.9256

Hello there!

I do like the idea of moving the last two around in lieu of FoW, as well as the MoC build style, however; two extra reasons to put the last two in said line is that the minor adds 10% dmg when endurance is not full and Guards just so happen to have the lowest of three possible health pools to begin with so adding extra Vitality is filling in one of the Guardians few real glaring gaps game wise…

Sidenote: (Regarding the extra 10% dmg, some would/will say having to dodge extra lessens the amount of dmg one could do; though DPS Guards, Medi at that, are very bursty and as such not much time is needed to do an incredibly large amount of AOE dmg in a short amount of time [Personal record 36 in 6, AOE; combat logged, sure someone out there can do better lol]…Not only that but Guards no longer get as much Vigor on as low a C/D as we once did so keeping up with it isn’t much of an issue anymore…)

SuperSidenote: [Each time you dodge you also heal yourself and allies; bonus!!!]

Though I really do like the other combos you brought forth, Glacial Heart is one trait in particular I’ve been meaning to “tinker” with in the near future!

Sincerely,
Gilded Guardian – ;333

6 – III, IX, XIII

With Sassin or Zerker ammy n’ Speed (Extra 25% constant movement speed, and increased vitality!) or Strength/Hoelbrak (Increased might duration/dmg, and/or reduced condi duration time!) runes

Air and Force (you’re already doing constant AOE dmg, why not just increase it by 5%??)/Fire (always a great addition if you’re wary on the SigOfFor) sigils on both weapons; or, at the very least, the GS and/or Ham

Sidenote: Strength sigils can/could be used in place of Force; suggested when using RoStr/Hoel over RoSpd

Heal: Shelter
Utilities: Smite Condi – Judges Inter – Contemp Purity
Elite: Renewed Focus

First off I’d like to say that I’m not 100% certain this doesn’t already exist out there somewhere, but it’s a combo I’ve found works in almost any area of play; and well at that, hope everyone enjoys it as much as I do!…

Few tips/tricks:

Start Banish —> Judges Inter -->Finish Banish (Makes both this skill, and Ring of Warding much easier to land on quick moving targets) [Sidenote: Them being on fire also procs your Fiery Wrath trait adding an additional amount of dmg to the dmg you’ll already be dealing, plus it’s own dmg!]

Use your Hammer’s #2 skill Mighty Blow in and on as many combo fields as reasonable with regards to your current circumstances (Two Handed mastery trait helps out quite a bit along the way with this build by reducing both weapon’s, entire bar’s, cooldown time by 20%; and believe you me folks, that adds up!)

Use your Greatsword’s #4 skill Symbol of Wrath before using Leap of Faith to wrap yourself in prismatic, retal/vuln giving, light… (See: Light Aura)

Feel free to fire away with any questions regarding this build; it both can be and has been tweaked to suit particular purposes in the past but for the most part I find it to be a great combo in most any situation! From 1v1s to 1v3-5s, WvW to sPvP, the large AOEDPS output+Condi cleanse+Constant leaps/teleports and heals will keep your foes on their toes and your allies alive; stay Guarded my friends…

Use your Greatsword’s #4 skill Symbol of Wrath before using Leap of Faith to wrap yourself in prismatic, retal/vuln giving, light… (See: Light Aura)

Feel free to fire away with any questions/comments regarding this build; it both can be and has been tweaked to suit particular purposes in the past but for the most part I find it to be a great combo in most any situation! From 1v1s to 1v3s, WvW to sPvP, the large AOEDPS output+Condi cleanse+Constant leaps/teleports and heals will keep your foes on their toes and your allies alive; stay Guarded my friends…

Sincerely,
Sir Palomid
