I’ve got friends trying to get into SoS and it’s like, permaclosed for some reason.
You must be NA. SoS is t h i c c during off hours.
Transfer out. Unless you’re on BG, T1 is a bigger pain in the ass than hemorrhoids.
JQ is pretty cancer, but unfortunately Anet has allowed BG to get so malignant that there is no way any other cancer can compete.
Best advice is to stop worrying about PPT. If your opponent is 3x bigger than you, then you’re always going to lose. If you don’t like roaming or doing things outnumbered, then transfer down tiers – you won’t regret it.
Pretty much the direction this thread is going in is great.
Before HoT came, skill balance was good enough so that a small group COULD defeat a group 3-4x their size. Now this is pretty much impossible.
Anet have been putting out updates which do not address the core issues with WvW, but instead address non-issues just to try and bring more players into the game mode. Before HoT, WvW players had been complaining for years about WvW rewards being pretty much non-existent. Why implement WvW rewards when WvW population is at an all time low?
The forums SHOULD be complaining about useless updates. No-one should be complaining about afk pips or other useless things. Instead people should be pushing for Anet to implement a better population matching system, better skill balance for WvW, help communities develop and thrive, train commanders etc…… but instead people are jealous that the guy standing in spawn gets a few more greens and blues than them.
It’s a gimmicky thing that’s good in some cases, bad in others. It’s not “implemented exceptionally well” by any means, but neither is it completely broken.
E.G it’s nice if you own a number of territories and can glide straight to certain objectives, i.e. going from spawn to hills. It’s not nice if you don’t own objectives and are killed because you enter enemy territory, i.e. gliding from nc to garri on dbl if you don’t own garri.
It’s gimmicky because it seems ultra rushed and requires a bunch of case by case updates from anet to make sure it’s not exploited. It doesn’t add anything of value to wvw, but it’s not that bad either. It’s just something for anet to say they “added” to wvw, even though everyone and their dog knows that dbl was intended for gliding since HoT launch.
fwiw, i think it’s a good thing they aren’t putting wvw updates in expansion (look at how bad it was for HoT).
It’s almost compulsory that whatever new specs they ship with expansion will be incredibly OP so that the expansion actually sells. If they add money gated mechanics as well then it will pretty much kill WvW for a while.
WvW depends on the number of people playing it. The more barriers Anet puts up against WvW, the worse it becomes.
As an example, PvP is (pretty much) gated to HoT only, because almost all meta builds have the elite spec.
Anet COULD also have done the greedy thing and made WvW more HoT gated (Skirmish rewards only available to those with expansion etc…).
Usually during an xpac launch companies are looking for ways to push sales, which usually means new content = OP. The less attention WvW gets during an xpac, the more even the playing field, which is a good thing.
Honestly the best case would be to exclude WvW from expansion altogether (including elites etc), until everything has been reasonably tested and balanced. This gives everyone a fair go.
Seriously understand:
1.) WvW tickets, just like very other reward in every MMO, isn’t meant to improve anything. It’s a carrot on a stick that’s meant to lure people toward a certain part of the game.
2.) In light of point 1, making WvW rewards realistically attainable in a small timeframe makes them pointless. The point of WvW tickets isn’t so you can get a new backpiece and a set of ascended armour – the point of wvw tickets is so 1000 more people play WvW in hopes that they can. Making WvW rewards more attainable defeats the purpose of having tickets in the first place – ascended armour is incredibly easy to get if you do fractals, which even casual WvWers will find easy. Even the fractal legendary backpiece is easier to obtain than the WvW one.
3.) Anet are not stupid. People much smarter than you work for Anet and have designed the system. They have a purpose and have designed their game to achieve this purpose. IF their ideas don’t go to plan, they may change the system, but it won’t be because you started a thread on WvW forums, it’ll be because instead of 1000, only 20 more people are playing WvW.
Edit: Just in case people actually read this post. The point is WvW rewards had a different purpose altogether than giving WvWers a chance at ascended armour and a legendary backpiece. Complaining about rewards, pips and #pipstress is pointless, because that wasn’t the reason WvW rewards were implemented (if that were the case, we’d see WvW rewards in game 3 years ago!)
Edit Edit: Just read OP’s post. Outnumbered is the way to go: Pro tip – Don’t cap home camp, just kill a scout and go back to afk. If someone caps the camp, your timer resets, if they don’t the scout will respawn in time for you to reset your timer!

I grew up in Africa. My father died when I was 2 and my mother had to take care of me and my brother alone. We drank dirty water, only ate every 2nd day and sometimes went days without food or water.
Even after all this, I cannot fathom what pain you are going through because people are receiving pips they don’t deserve. My prayers are with you brother. God will see those pip stealers get their deserved punishment…..
Who cares? Are you jealous this guy is getting more imaginary rewards than you are?
Report him to the police!
At least wvw forums were somewhat funny before pips. Now everyone and their dog is literally complaining about imaginary points………
Edit: Remember: Pips have done absolutely nothing to improve game quality at all, you just get a few more blues and greens for playing wvw. If you stick around for several months you might even get ascendeds!

Just accept it. Anet has adopted the “pay money to get stronger” mantra.
Next expansion will probably have every elite spec doing 30k damage in one shot with perma invuln / stealth.

Shouldn’t you be blaming the terrible game physics of getting you stuck in whatever, rather than a server?
Pretty much
World position during skirmish is pretty much determined by population
As much as you think individual players can influence it, a zerg capping and holding keeps and towers will always outppt backcappers whenever they want.
So its unfair to put so many pips on something you have no control over.
At least 5 pips for outnumbered is some consolation for getting stomped. Plus the more people that try to find outnumbered maps, the less effective it becomes – in t1 at least you can’t afk for long in outnumbered map because it won’t last.
Try playing on an under populated server and you’ll see what I mean
It’s complete cancer, which is par for the course when it comes to HoT specs.
Nobody on Mag wants this matchup as well. People are PPTing much more than usual just so they move up to T2 next week.
The reason this matchup exists in the first place is because last week HoD and SoS took every opportunity to K-Train empty borderlands whilst pretty much everyone on Mag was roaming EB. So Mag comes last and goes T3 where they clearly do not belong.
There’s fun to be had, but for some reason people want to ram gates and fight npc’s. If this is your idea of fun, then go for it, but don’t complain that your server is outnumbered for fights if half your force is out ppting.
YB and HoD have enough to queue maps during certain timezones, and I imagine it would be incredibly satisfying to wipe the mag blob, so why don’t people try and do this rather than attacking keeps nobody cares about?
Feb 22 patch notes say you no longer give ppk if you’re outnumbered, not sure if this works though.
People are ovethinking this, that guy was just playing along and claimed for lols.
It sucks that you lost garrison while outmanned, and it sucks that Anet claimed it, but he was just 1 player among many – whether Anet claimed it or someone else did, you still lost your garri.
On the flip side, it’s great that Anet devs play WvW, and I would love to see more tags / claims, even a group raid like this, just for the comfort of knowing that Anet are here.
Not too sure, but it might be to do with how they want glicko to work.
3-2-1 and 5-4-3 are the same thing for players, but they chose 5-4-3 to keep scores proportionally closer.
I think people voted for 5-4-3 over 2-1-1 as well.(2-1-1 is essentially the same as 3-2-2 and 1-0-0). Link to post.
A skirmish count would be nice though, you could mouse over your score and it would say all your skirmish placements. Mos lets you see skirmish history but I don’t think it’s accurate.
Can’t say anything about other TZ or other days of the week, but reset SEA was good fun.
Mag lost the skirmish (I think it came down to 6 points difference in the end), but plenty of people were playing from both sides and it was pretty much non-stop fights for 2-3 hours. DB were definitely not outmanned (if anything YB were), and played offensively and looked for fights (no turtling, dodging etc).
Even though only 2 severs were involved, this was probably one of the most even SEA skirmishes I’ve played in a long time.
I hear it requires the Gift of Forums which requires 250 intelligent or witty posts to get.
Might as well give up now.
Pls. This is the easiest component.
Not being able to stomp can be caused by latency.
If they’re moving around impossibly fast and appear to be teleporting while doing so -like this guy- , then they’re speedhacking.
Either way you may as well send a report. Wiki says use “botting” option.
Jump pads make it a lot easier for the defending side (whoever holds the keep) to get around – you can go across the entire side of the map in seconds, but they don’t make DBL any more fun to play from the attacking side.
IMO being able to jump across the entire side of the map in ~ 10 seconds is a pretty big advantage. Portals between structures would just be too OP for the defending side when compared to Alpine BL. It’ll allow ridiculous speed of movement throughout the map – you could get to the southern towers in the same time it takes to run to the northern towers from spawn. From there you could just tele to all the other towers very quickly!
My suggestion would be for shrines to provide some benefit for the attacking side when held – e.g. if you hold 3 shrines, you can use the jump pads, regardless of whether you have the keep or not, same with windfall and shifting sands. This would make shrines slightly more important and make DBL a little bit friendlier for offensive roamers.
Didn’t have resistance? l2p
Weren’t standing a mile away from downstates / enemy necros / siege? l2p
Can’t react in 200ms? l2p
Someone else cant react in 200ms? l2p
Not a clairvoyant? l2p
Latency? l2p
It’s completely normal that 1 skill can give 30 bleeds, 15 poisons + 10 other condis. If you die to epi then l2p
62 bleed stacks lol.
Does the ele have a screenshot showing how much it ticked for?
A similar suggestion was made in this thread.
I know it’s not fair that 10 people have to defend against 50, but is it any fairer for 40 people to not be able to play at all or to have to transfer because of something completely out of their control?
Also this is really easy to abuse – just park a few alts on one map and lock one server out, then let the other server freely k-train the map.
Would be funny to see afk wars 2 though
BG is the emptiest server in T1. I’m glad Anet finally saw the light and opened us up. We only have a low KDR this week because we went on hiatus due to the severe population imbalance – Some maps didn’t even have queues for a few seconds!!!
It’s good that Anet is trying to balance the game by allowing people to transfer to empty servers instead of keeping them closed. Now that the weather is a bit fairer, some older players may return to BG. This is the revitalisation that WvW needed!
Grasp this opportunity guys.
Just grasp it.
All the suggested changes mean that theres no point for a team to commit to a keep unless they know they outnumber the defenders…
Requiring wall damage to contest a waypoint means the game automatically scouts for the defending side, so you know 100% whether your keep is being attacked or not just by looking at the waypoint status.
Right now a small attacking side might be able to get a keep if the defending side are slow with scouting / responding. If waypoints contested when the structure was damaged, the defending blob would respond immediately.
Also you might be substituting one annoying thing for another. If solo people can’t contest by hitting guards, they’ll just build trebs …
At level 450 it doesn’t matter what class you play!
Necromancer is a good zerg class, just stand behind everyone and spam wells.
Careful they will give you infraction points for being negative lol
Oath. Got infracted and received some spiel about how to provide “constructive feedback”. If you want to say something bad about WvW, make sure you say it as nicely as possible.
The CEO should be appalled to have allowed this 2v1
The CEO … allowed this 2v1
Not sure if you’re joking,
but there is no 2v1 – Blue is not touching red’s objectives and is attacking green. Green likely just has more people playing than either red or blue. You’ve just rolled a bad matchup, better luck next week.
Same. I was so close to getting my gems as well
Just wanted to even out the numbers a bit, make the game a bit fairer. BG is severely underpopulated atm – they were closed for months, never receive a link, and were open for a few days only!
Maybe they’re trying to create stable tiers?
Making JQ full and unlinked guarantees they stay T2 for a long time to come. TC without a link can’t compete in T1. Mag and YB linked and open mean they stay top tier, BG perma full but rightly so (even though its unfair that mag stays open).
But then they make weird matchups -
FA are going to lose every single skirmish this week. Everyone hates being placed in a matchup with YB – but you put 2 extremely volatile servers JQ and TC with them (as if trying to get them to implode).
Only goal I see is encouraging transfers. Maybe they see that WvW volatility can be lucrative ($20+ a pop to a “very high” server) and are going to milk it dry rather than actually making it fun and fair.
