Its great, its put in place to rectify the pricing of pres on the TP. Its for those who cannot put in 100s of gold into an item straight away. Legendaries aren’t something you get in one day with no items required, you have to work for it.

Wait so how longs the expansion been up? And you are expecting to get the precursor today? Its not a get a free precursor card, its a long journey to get it. The feature has hardly been in the game yet you are whining about it, seriously grow up. Instead of living life just for a legendary, why don’t you actually play the game or did you spend $50 to expect a free precursor with the expansion?

Level 50 or so joins a “Aetherblade level 80 experienced”

Level 80 then joins the party saying they are experienced, half way through the first set of mobs we see they are unaware of what stacking is. Then unaware of the first ooze maze. Then they say they are experienced at the game and have 10 level 50 characters.

How do most people go about finding players outside of their guild and friends list to get players to fill this up? I can get it filled up in under 5 minutes of pups but with experienced players i feel they all have set groups to run it.
I’m usually up for teaching players but in the passed week i haven’t had one player who has even completed the dungeon.
If anyone is up for me adding them to friends list to get people i could run this with daily, it would be great.
Thanks

Armor > Outfits

I prefer outfits, and have every outfit so far available. I like things to be uniform and really dislike mismatched players, i also dislike how the dye colours don’t stay uniform throughout certain armour skins. Sure i may be in a minority but at the end of the day i am buying gems because i enjoy what there is available and i like to change on the go.

The one pet peeve i have is the dye matching with backpieces and weapons for set outfits ie. balthazar weapons and back piece dyes dont match up with the outift, same as dwayna back piece.

I think armour skins are generally bought with in game currency, which most people would do even saying they would buy gems. The armour skins were not generally released in sets so people didn’t really buy them, only if they matched up with what they were looking for.

You are assuming that Anet have the same tastes as everyone in game and can tell exactly what kind of armour skins people are wanting. It simply doesn’t work that way.

Armour skins are simply more work for less gain, which has been proven as they were putting armour skins on the gem store before they started making outfits. GW1 had outfits as far as i am aware which is what they are also doing here.

I found revenants to be extremely over powered in pvp, put two on one point and you have enough condi pressure to force a whole team to pop their clears.

Though in pve they felt underwhelming most of the time, but really really fun to play. So its quite a tail chasing game where you would most likely have different values for pvp and pve.

I live in New Zealand and the prices in NZD have been roughly $75 for base, $110 for deluxe and $150 for ultimate.
Gem cards are localized in price so we get 2000 gems for $25 NZD which is about $16 USD.

I haven’t seen anywhere that says the pricing for the expansion after realease but i’m guessing it will also be localized when it hits shops, meaning i can save a few bucks if i wait until then.
If i am correct i could get the base expansion for $50, three gem cards for $75 and have my two character slots for 1600 gems with 400 left over and my 4000 gems and miss out on some small cosmetic things for saving $25.

Or i could sell gems cards for $20 USD and still save $25 NZD and buy the expansion now, but seeing as i a will not receive the extra character slot, it is hardly worth it.

I’m wondering if Anet has any control over what shops around the world sell the expansion for and if it will be localized or not.

Thanks

They’ve made multiple comments on the forums. You either haven’t been reading them or you consider them ‘not good enough’ which would mean this post paints you as a liar.

You are either ignorant or naive if all you got from my post is me attacking Anet for not posting enough. Anyone can see dev tracker, we know what they reply to.

I have to agree with Gundam. The Anet reps have responded many times in these forums to issues. Either you’re(the OP) not paying any attention, or you’re just trolling.

And If you think they’re not listening, then what about the absolutely awesome change they just announced about ascended gear coming back to only 5% over exo, AND being able to change stats on ascended gear come Tuesday.

Sorry, Panites, but imo, your post is pretty much irrelevant when it comes to GW2.

And, after reading some of the OP’s previous posts, where the OP does talk about devs communicating, and then not communicating because of some of the incessant whining that goes on here………I have to really wonder about this thread and the actual reasons for starting it……maybe you just wanted to get all nostalgic about Space Cowboy……

All im asking for is more communication, if you see that as being unreasonable… so be it.
According to you Anet give us enough information to keep us happy. There i think you are wrong.

Takes the motes not spawning as an example, don’t know if it affected you but there was 5 months of no communication. All an employee has to do is say they are looking into it and that will solve the frustration of most of the players.

Its pretty ignorant to say that i don’t pay attention when you are using an upcoming change patch as reference.

Love the game, all i’m asking for is more communication.

I once played this game called Space Cowboy Online. It was the most beautiful game i had ever played and it was free to play. I spent more money on that game than any other game and usually 6-8 hours a day on it. It was my life.

I was in the highest brigade (Guild) and the most well known, we paved way for other players.
We won wars, we found ways of beating the toughest bosses, we even found unknown mechanics of the game.

There was not one part of the game i didn’t enjoy. It was very skill based.

The Distributers of the english version were Gpotato, quite a well known free to play mmo provider at the time. I’m guessing they didn’t see much or any developments(income) for SCO so they slowly cut down the teams working on it and translating the Korean versions and patches.
Eventually we were left with one voice. The almighty Xarfox.

He was God.

The forums were full of people asking for updates and changes to specific parts of the game which were quality of life updates, well needed for over 3 years of playing. No response.

The population slowly diminished due to little communication from the almighty Xarfox.

One day the worst thing possible happened.

A notice was posted on the forums stating the game servers would be shutdown due to a cease and desist letter from the new licence holder without any prior announcements or knowledge given to player base. The last day was 12/26/2007

This was absolutely shattering.

Ontop of that, none of the characters could be transferred to this new publishers game.
Uproar.

Then on the day of server shutdown, Xarfox released this video.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JLPXemM-SJM
To this day i still get intense goosebumps and teary eyed from watching it.

The game licence was then bought and distributed to different parts of the world, NA and EU had different publishers. Yes we all played then, named out characters the same, but it wasn’t the same.
New Korean updates were welcomed until we realized it was all to make the game easier and into a cash shop game, pay to win.

The game was now dead to us.

This broke my gaming heart and have never been able to get into that same groove until GW2 came out. I am not a GW1 player, but i had a lot of friends who were hyped and my partner at the time loved GW1.
So of course i bought it, but it wasn’t the same game my friends wanted. They wanted a GW1 with better graphics.

To me though, this game is great. None of my IRL friends play anymore and have given me their accounts. I’m lucky i have a great guild.

My main concern is the silence on QoL fixes that should have been done years ago, i couldn’t care less how much the expansion costs, being that I’ve spent 3000+ hours on the game. And i support Anets business model, even if people are getting all antsy about not getting free bonuses.

As another thread has said, the silence is what is killing people. From my previous experience all i see from silence is the game closing eventually.

I am sure there is one person who works at Anet who absolutely adores the game but is trapped in by rules stating that they cannot reply to threads, it must be the social media experts. Let your employees reply to threads, as i am sure they all read the negativity coming from them due to the silence.

All we want is replies, we don’t need answers as we understand what it takes to make a game. Give us a sense that you actually care.
I highly doubt the game will shut down soon, but with the way it is going….. you will lose a lot of your players.

Speak to us, not to AngryJoe.

Does medi have too much burst in PvP?

in Guardian

Posted by: Panites.6798

Panites.6798

Thanks everyone for the comments and your opinions!

I think there are two common recurrences in both this thread many others similar to it.
Guards can be kited and trying fighting a good opponent.

The thing i see is this game is about ‘Guild Wars’ where a war is usually fought over an objective, in WvW roaming i just don’t see the point of fighting some who runs away. If someone engages on you and then has to retreat, i see that as a win as you have forced them away which could be seen as protecting an area.

This is why conquest makes sense to me as a game mode focused around objective ownership. We all know medi vs engi or ele can go on for ages but i don’t think guard was really created to chase down fleeing players or to move around (Sure warriors have insane movement for a heavy class but that’s their style). If we can force someone off a point be it outlasting them enough to get them bored or to burst them down extremely quickly, then that’s a win in my book.

Now when someone says ‘fight a good mesmer’ etc i start to lose interest. You are firstly saying that the player is not a good player but then you are also making guardians look like the lowest of the low compared to every other class. If someones argument is that you should verse a good player, you are simply stating that guardian loses in every situation where there is an equal level of skill and knowledge
Sure we don’t have invisibility, huge mobility or good access to CC, but we have alot of other tools to get around these.

If guardian is played with a level head and you don’t smash all of your virtues and utilities at once, you can usually last a really long time just with weapon rotations and a heal skill. I think this is a core part of the guardian that people who jump into a game commonly forget, and the need to constantly apply pressure after your burst if they are not finished off.

But most of the time we can just jump into a 1v1 (like a thief) burst the opponent down and rotate to the next fight, which to me seems quite the opposite of a guardian. I come from a healer/tank back ground in other games but i really like where guardian is at right now.
Huge burst potential or crazy support.

Maybe too much burst haha.

Fortunally you got nothing to say in the management then, also before i cant add my own touch to my armor and update its appearance and so have my end game id run naked. Ill never wear/buy one of these things no matter how good they may look… I however want my old townclothes system back cause there was atleast some personality in the looks.

Which is your own opinion, which obviously is different to what Anets figures show through people buying outfits. You have over 1000 unique skins in the game yet you cannot be satisfied? I suggest you design your own armor skins with little to no clipping issues with any of the other skins, submit it to Anet so that it is on the same level as every other skin.

Your ideal mix and match will be completely different to what another person likes, look at the players skins today, most consist of arah, cof, lumi and cultural. Or the occasional hipster look.
You have so many choices but you demand more.

anet should make armour skin and outfit balance. this can make everyone happy.

Exactly. One time a skin pack for atleast 1 weight class and the next time an outfit… No objections.

Yes because you dont already have more than 1000 unique skins. Yes balance. AHAH

You should probably read the thread. What you have stated has ready been counter argued several times.

As far as blobbing goes, no. 10v10 is anything but Blobbing. Same with 5v5. Go into wvw on a tier 1 server and follow a commander pin. That’s a blob.

As far as not being able to be commentaTed. It can be and it has been done.

Also WE DO NOT WANT ESPORTS. Just a friendly competitive arena to play the game how we most enjoy it. That’s It. Make it instanced. No queues are needed. Most guilds are highly organized that it takes seconds to get the team ready. We just want a place for each to fight with 15s and 20v without interference and it being instanced.

Been at and seen GvG fights, its a kitten storm that only those who have played it long enough can understand what is happening. Blobbing. Even in WvW players are grouped as classes and have individual commands.

If you could show me where it has been commentated i would love to watch and hear what is said.

I full heartedly believe there should be an area that guilds can go to and fight it out, instanced. Having say your guilds own courtyard where you can invite guilds into.

Though saying this should RP players also get instanced maps, organised PvP groups get organised match making, hardcore dungeon runners having their own dungeons with a certain player selection program?

It all comes down to money and i would love to see GvG have its own place in the game, but unless you make a gold/gem locked instance so there is a reason for Anet to make it, i dont see it happening.

Not going to read the thread, and probably going to say what has already been said.

Having 5v5 at the moment when each player has 10+ skills to use at one set time, each doing different things, and keep track of everything going on. Now make that a 10v10 and its a a cluster kitten where anyone who is new has absolutely no idea what is going on and it doesn’t attract new players at all. its counter intuitive to gaining customers.

You are asking for Anet to put money into something that will make even more of a distance between hardcore players and first time viewers of the game.

This is the one reason why conquest will be successful and they will focus on it, it has easily understandable objectives and not much else to explain except people fighting for those points.

Lets not forget a straight up guild fight makes absolutely no sense whatsoever in guild wars, let alone any mmo ever. You would fight to take control of something… conquest.
Which then brings you into the fact that conquest is an actual Guild War where you are fighting for objectives.

Lets also not forget this game is a money revenue and when it stops making money, it will get cut. If they spend money on something that will probably lose them money, they wont do it.

TL;DR

5v5 has enough blobbing for a new player to be bewildered, 10v10 makes them turn off their computer.

No money to be made.

Its seriously just a blob versing another blob which cannot be commentated or made into an esport, and in this day in age esports make the games.

Outfits? No thanks.

Do NOT allow premades in unranked

in PvP

Posted by: Panites.6798

Panites.6798

All i have gained from this thread is people complaining about something so minuscule that the dev actually stop responding. Every other match making system works like how GW2 does. If there are not enough to warrant a full 5v5 of random players, it will begin searching for other factors, like two-three-four-five players queuing together to play with the soloers.
This is how it works and always will work.

Think about it for just one minute. I have two other people with me playing together but that is considered “premade” so then i would either need two other random players or a duo. But what if i don’t want a duo? I want two randoms. But now what if one of the randoms doesn’t want to play with a trio, or they don’t even want to play with another random? Does each player now need to fill out a list of what players they want and don’t want to play with before they queue? And since they do this they agree to wait for any amount of time before getting matched?
This is what you guys are calling the solution, and it is simply unfair to the rest of the community not playing solo.

If you are to make a solo queue, you are meaning to say that a duo, trio, or four players playing together cannot play the game at all? If four people queue they NEED one player, now that one player isn’t going to click on ranked team player simply because they didn’t queue with a team. Now a duo MUST have a trio to play else they cant play simply because they chose to play together. They have to wait for a trio to queue up around the same time as them AND they must be of similar skill/mmr level. Great now you have to wait for 20 minutes just because you are playing as a duo.

How often do you check the other team if they are queued together, then straight away get all in a hissy fit even without knowing their skill level or if they are even communicating. Did you check your team? Your teams mmr? I seriously doubt it because you are so obsessed with the other team you are the one making it a loss for sure because you just give up and complain about the match making.

What about you just stop looking for reasons to justify why you personally played bad or stopped playing and saying it is out of your control. You ended the game on 45 points. You played bad because you made a negative situation about what could have been a positive fun game.
Why didn’t you organise your team instead of just complaining about the other team having one duo?
There’s a chat system that isn’t just there to broadcast your feelings about a system that works.

NPE Feedback [Merged] - Please read 1st post

Panites.6798

As a still new-ish player, I have nothing to compare against my time leveling now.

~shrugs~

And this shows exactly what Anet were trying to do and accomplish. Ive played since beta and fully support NPE as it actually seems like you gain something from levels. I was level 20 with all my skills i will ever get unlockable, this put me off leveling and just made new classes to see what they could do.

It became a grind for the sake of getting to level 80.
This is completely different now where you actually progress through the levels and new players actually see what is happening when they level up and what they will achieve.
Alot of my friends left the game due to the fact that they felt there was no progression and nothing was happening through leveling. They didn’t feel any reason to level up, meaning they didn’t feel the want to play as MMOs are mainly focused around leveling and getting to the max level.

Sure the so called “veterans” are getting upset over change, but its for the better. You understand the game now and know where everything is so unlocking traits shouldn’t be hard, using tomes of knowledge shouldn’t be hard and you will even have a spare few level 20 scrolls, let alone a stack of skill points.

You had two years to make characters the old way, now you complain because its different and actually has progression. If it stays how it is for two more years, it will just become part of the game and you will have to get used to it.

NPE is here to stay.

No problems here, just people whining. MMOs are near impossible to create an easy to watch e-sport due to how much information is happening.
Now if stronghold can be seen from a map point of view and also jumping to lanes, i see it becoming more watchable when the casters arent so focused on when an ele blasts a water field.

I do agree it has been a long time since it was released, but i already attained what i wanted from the event so it offers nothing for me unless revamped.

If permanent like nearly every 2nd post in this thread asks for, you all would be bored of it after the first month. It has minimal content that rewards the player based on difficultly which i think Anet need to implement into the game, just it is quite complicated being fashion wars 2.
People wont do something that requires using their brain if there is minimal rewards like the harder dungeons, which cannot be countered by the use of a gear treadmill.

Wait i’m not allowed to complain when someone clutters up a forum i enjoy with useless rubbish about them wanting back some limited time content, but its ok for people to make new threads about this each week including those who comment in this thread?
Superiority? When did i say i was better than you or that my opinions are better than yours? You just contradicted yourself by that comment thinking that you actually have a superior opinion than me. I described this thread, i didn’t throw insults.

Why does them bringing back something they already made and requires no further dev interaction affect you?

Requires no dev interaction? Im guessing you are a game developer and have developed something superior to SAB? If not then your comment is void. Just because you want something doesn’t mean you should have it. But if i didn’t like it, i should just avoid it? I didn’t enjoy SAB i still played it for the skins, only because i knew it was a limited time event.

I’m pretty sure Anet have future events all planned to tie in with story and many other things, and they know people complaining on the forums are a small amount of the player base.
600 gems is 60 gold, its seriously nothing and was even cheaper when you bought it.

Did you also complain when KFC stopped selling double downs?

I agree, it was terrible and such a grind it was mind numbing. I think it should be on a rotation with other big events like it and dragon bash on say a two month or four month rotation.

SAB would be just like any other dungeon with minimal people only doing it for reset rewards and getting skins over the next 2 years because they know its permanent and can wait.

You don’t have to agree with me in anyway, but you don’t NEED SAB. You want it. You don’t need gw2, let alone internet. Sure its fun but its not the end of the world when you don’t get something you want, that’s life.

A thread full of the same 25 people posting think they are the higher percentage of players. Im guessing at least less than 50% of the games population visit the forums, and also engage in map chat/say chat about anything let alone SAB. People hated it when it was introduced and loved when it was gone. It wasnt even good and most of the people who farmed it were happy it was gone since they spent so much time to get limited items.
This is how marketing works. Release something for limited time ie. back wings, SAB = more people buying/playing them than if they had them permanent.
Permanent gives the idea that people can do or get something later instead of now, which is not what a company that sells a product wants.

As it stands, this game has nothing to do with guilds fighting each other unless we set it up ourselves.

Please learn the lore of the game. The title of the game comes from the lore of the game: http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/The_Guild_Wars

It has nothing whatsoever to do with player guilds fighting each other so there is no reason why the game would have a guild vs. guild mechanic or mode.
If they do introduce such a mechanic or mode it is unlikely to be in PvE areas as doing so would be detrimental to the game – as has been proven in the past where other games have introduced PvP modes into existing PvE areas which had no prior PvP modes.

Spot on, guild means different things in this game than what you have been told in other games. PvP conquest is a guild war. Both teams are fighting for areas on a map. A guild war, let alone any war is never about running in to a fight in the middle of nowhere for no reason. This is why death matches make absolutely no sense in a big scale.
If you have a guild war it is about capturing a point AKA WVW as your guild (server) is fighting another guild (server) for land ownership aka war. GvG is a stupid for of mindless blobbing into each other for no purpose except for who has more of a class dominant setup.

Guardian is Warrior 2.0?

It seems like you guys have just played this game for 2 weeks. There has always been a very high population of guardians in the game. Always will be. But after maining guard for 2+ years I think the opposite, warrior is the new guardian.
The meta doesn’t need a guardian that can offer a small amount of support while engis, eles and rangers can blast water on the spot. Warriors do more damage, their traits scale better, and have more efficient builds for the team. Sure guardians have mobility due to teleports, which in turn gives them the ability to burst unexpectedly. Warriors offer everything a guard could except virtues. This is my opinion.

Freedom of speech? Speech doesn’t take up space in the world, unlike your post. The first DC should be sign for you to go check elsewhere in game if there is any lag. I don’t get this lag you speak of so i am more swayed to think that is actually partially your end, either your ISP connecting to Anets servers or something similar.

Turn all your settings down so there are no big effects and light rays, this allows you to see every telltale wind up of guard hammer.

Freedom to reduce listing prices on TP

I’m a bit confused, why is it silly for a salesman to rearrange his pricing and offer his goods for the same/a lower price as his competitors?
He has already lost the 200g and would lose additional money by taking it away from his possible profit?

Because a real life salesman doesn’t get undercut every 30 seconds and there aren’t people looking to buy every minute. How is it so hard to understand that GW2 market and many other online game markets are controlled by players that mostly only play the markets?
To put it in perspective:

You own a pizza shop and sell pizzas for $5. Another pizza shop opens right next to yours with a bigger sign with a smaller price of $4.90. They even serve the same exact pizzas made by the same chefs with the same ingredients. And the buyer knows this. Now another pizza shops opens in the next second etc…..

This will continue with the old shops having to reduce their prices lower than every new shop in order to make any money at all. This then continues until no one else wants to sell $1 pizzas, which is when the buyers will buy. Making all these new opened pizza shops redundant and a waste of money invested EXCEPT for the one selling the cheap pizzas.

This makes the sellers looking for a small profit but in large numbers the only winners, while everyone else losses.
The only way for this to re stabilize is when there are more buyers than sellers, but as you can see with every item on the TP, there are at least 3 items listed with one going to sell first if not undercut.

This is why OPs method will NEVER work in GW2.

Why do people get upset over messages people typed out. It seems like you take it as actual fact, i guess you believe the news is all relevant and fact.

Then stop playing? You know there is latency issues but you continue to play then whine about it. And if you care that much about points then you shouldn’t be whining on the forums, go to a internet cafe.

Oh how i remember RF, was a great game until robots stomped everyone due to no auto balance. I did enjoy it for the time i played it.

But yea it is going to be unlikely as the forum is such a small amount of the gw2 players, but good luck!

^Only problem is your cant turn off and on the weather, but if you believe the weather man is always right then that’s your own personal problem. If weather is unpredictable then you should expect it to be unpredictable, Right? Its a great analogy, but it doesn’t quite work.

I never lose and i play solo. Most peoples problems are they don’t talk and when something goes wrong they blame someone. At the start of every game i call the shots and tell everyone where to go and what their thoughts are, 9/10 times this works and you get your team talking. I always type when i auto run saying ‘rotating far’ etc. The one time i find chat in game to be a positive add on to a game, not just a chat room.

Heres my whine about people whining over little things like chat and other peoples opinions.

Say chat an map chat generally off nothing except a chat room. I don’t see how you are getting so offended with text language. You can turn it off, mute people etc but in the end of the day it is an MMO, not just your game.

If you cannot get passed a few meaningless words that in no way affect your day to day life, i think you should stay away from people. End of whine.

Happens a lot really, people hesitate and just press every button they can in situations they think they will die. Mesmer and thief are just as bad. It can turn an even 2v2 into a 1v2 due to someones unawareness.
