Am I the only one here that caught something in the screenshot he provided on the first page?

He has 1526 hours played. (Which must be unhealthy in 4 month.)

He also has 1532 hours played across all character.

Does anyone see something weird here?

We have someone telling us how the game is balanced. That person as a lot of experience and is in a top team. So It make sense. But that person played 6 hours with something else then a mesmer? How the hell is he supose to know anything about balance?

He played 64 days worth of time in those last month, and only like 1/4 of a day have been on something else then a Mesmer.

Does anyone expect him to not be biased toward mesmer? For sure he will defend them. If I played a class that is on top in the pvp chain, and I wanted it to stay that way, expect me to say the game is balanced.

Balanced game = no nerf.

No nerf = Mesmer stay top.

And I’m won’t write about his elitism attitude.

Sata…. Your going way too far now. You need to lose about 60% of the ego you have. Now saying that there aren’t enough skilled players in the game is so far from wrong and maybe you’ve been stuck in your little circle for to long.

The other day my team vs’d you guys in paids. We lost of course because we got outplayed. I came to henge 4 times that game. The first time I popped my elite because how Sata always says “#1 mesmer NA/EU” I thought I was going to have some crazy battle. I was wrong, 30 seconds in Sata dropped and I took the point for about 10 seconds before 2 members of his team came to reclaim it. After I res’d I went back to put more pressure because at that time I felt as if you weren’t anything special. I didn’t pop my elite this time not because it was down. Didn’t think I’d needed it to beat you. We vs’d again I stomped you with most of my health remaining and got the point for maybe 15 seconds before back up (great roamers on his team). The last 2 matches you won because help came before we could finish.

I don’t care if no one believes me and you say it’s lies, I know you remember and please remember that well. I’m not saying I’m a better player than you and trying to get attention. I’ll even say it out front, Sata is a better team player(well I’m assuming because he’s team does so well in paids)

Maybe you dueling Caed isn’t the best choice for 1v1’n a thief. Caed has the same ego as you. People with that attitude will never get any better because they already think they are superior to everyone else. From what I seen you still need to L2P.

You setting the meta, stfu. Anet setup the meta and will always be the one controlling it. As good players we find the best comp/strats that works. We aren’t setting the meta though. We just follow the path Anet left out for us.

I think it was a month ago or so, you made a post about making another team. I messaged you in game and telling you I was interested. He told me I need to talk to the leader of the group. Which I did, the kid was like “OMG, Goobs” so we had the team together. This kid leading this group had to be 12 years old and was horrible. I won’t mention his name. The group fell apart of course but I gained a friend from the group so that was a plus. You didn’t even try to put a group together, I’m guessing the other groups failed the same way. Lasting a whole 3-4 hours. Sata’s your attempts to make groups just seem like a show to me. You like the spot light on you and everything you do is to keep that attention on you.

I hear it has a decent internal CD. I’m not entirely sure, since I don’t use it.

Also, if you are in stealth and use another stealth skill (i.e. you enter stealth by using Cloak and Dagger and then use Hide in Shadows while stealthed), Hidden Killer will no longer activate on your next attack.

It doesnt seem to have an internal cooldown, but you are right about going into stealth after you have already gone into stealth and having it not crit. I think this is the problem and why I see glancing blows sometimes when I’m weakened. Thanks for the response. I’m definitely able to work around it, but it’s still an inconvenience and honestly still should be fixed.

However, the main thing i want fixed is the fact that the 50% speed boost is still 33% while in stealth. Cmon Anet, change that number!

How do you know he was using haste? There are many ways to get quickness as a thief. He could have had shadow refuge. He could have also been using dagger/pistol and put down a smoke field and heartseekered through it 3 times. He could have done this indefinitely until you got there.

To quote Payneful, you can tell if he had haste if he had two of those boot markings and one was a yellowish back and the other was a redish back.

Yes, i was just wondering if he looked at his buff bar or if he just saw the guy’s character moving fast.

The thief trait “hidden killer”, which makes your next ability out of stealth be a 100% critical hit is apparently affected by weakness. Weakness is supposed to make non-crit hits make a glancing blow 50% of the time. However, time and time again, I end up seeing a non-crit backstab hit for about 1.7k and the word glancing pop up. This shouldn’t happen since all of my backstabs should be a critical hit.

Also, as many of you already know, the trait “fleet shadow” does not give the intended 50% speed boost. It still gives 33%.

In spvp, a good d/d dps ele will almost always beat a d/d burst thief if they see the thief coming. If the thief catches the ele by surprise, the thief will probably win.

If the thief is running 30/30/0/0/10 with scholar runes, assassin’s signet, and basilisk venom with 100% crit out of stealth trait the thief will most likely insta-gib the ele.

How would a solo ladder ranking work? It seems to me it would be mostly luck that wins the game for you or not. You have to hope that you not only get a good comp, but also good players. GW2 was designed so that one player couldn’t go be a hero and win games singlehandedly. So when you solo queue you have to rely on your team. How could solo ranking even mean much in this case? Wouldn’t it just show how lucky you are?

If the solo ladders are based on how many points you get in a game, that is even worse, because any idiot can just roam around dpsing already downed players and get full points for killing them. Players will begin to find every way possible to increase their ranking even if it screws over the rest of their team (like in hot join, lol@entire teams capping a point together). Basically the individual players on a team will be in competition with each other.

But again, I don’t even know if it would work either of these ways. Just a thought.

I’m kind of surprised a person as solid as you are in gameplay lacks the theorycraft capability to conceive an effective system. Yes in any one particular match the teammates you end up with will have a large effect on the outcome but over enough games the only constant is your presence on the team. Company issues might be an issue in the lower skill level brackets but most people interested at playing at a competitive level are capable of playing many classes.

Yes a system which rewarded you based on glory would be bad but I don’t think anyone would ever suggest such a ludicrous system. They are working on a new state system as well which will provide better measurements of play. The game smite uses an elope system where if you perform signicantly worse than your team you gain less elope in a win and lose more during a loss. Please don’t act like viable systems can’t be implemented only because you can not envision one on your own.

I’m going to ignore the random insults and say that I agree that rankings based on wins would work over a period of time since the accuracy of the rankings is dependent on time.

The second situation is something I’m worried about being put in the game because something as ludicrous as it is currently in place: the QP ladder. Who knows what Anet will do next?

How Is Stolen Fear Not Broken?

How is the fact that a necro literally standing in one spot spamming aoes on a point able to kill an entire team by themselves in a matter of seconds not broken?

How is the fact that if that necro is not dealt with immediately, your team will lose the team fight 100% of the time not broken?

I wonder why every team is now running at least one necro……?

Also, I would much rather steal your off global cooldown, single target instant fear over this clunky AOE fear that can be easily interrupted and lost forever.

You can have the single target weak as hell fear, it’s only mildly helpful because it’s one of probably 2 stun breaks a necro will have, and without any form of mobility stun breaks are life. Also if that necro managed to kill a whole team that bunched up on a point it’s cause your entire team was terribad spread out. If you honestly think anything a necro has is broken go play one for a bit… I have never once felt over powered or even powerful as a necro, I have out played some scrubs but that’s it. Any half competent player who’s specced properly for pvp has at best run away from me as a necro or often killed me.

I don’t think necro is broken at all. I just think it’s extremely powerful. I’m not sure why you don’t think necro is poweful. Maybe you are running more of a hybrid build.

Also, that “weak” fear is not weak at all. It was my favorite ability in the necro arsenal back when I played it a lot. It saved me from dying to warriors, thieves, and eles or served as the perfect heal interrupt. I would love that on my thief.

The first time this happened to me when I was playing necro: “wow, didn’t know I had that in me.”

In all seriousness though, they should swap stolen fear with doom. Would love to hear about that on the forums. At least they fixed the bug were you could do a 20s fear with it.

this exactly. i dont mind thieves stealing doom. but 4 seconds is basically certain death for the affected target, if the team is coordinated.

imagine how it makes necro bunkers feel to be feared off their point for 4 seconds

Banish must be overpowered too. Right?

There is a reason why almost every team has a necro, and why that necro is the priority target for every team. Team fights generally come down to who can protect their necro the best. This is the NA meta right now.

Hackks: The Necros I’m talking about are using scepter/dagger and staff with 2 fears, 2 chills, a cripple, and a mark that can transfer any cripples or chills put on the necro back to them which is more than enough CC to screw over someone’s day.

Sorrow: Caltrops by itself will never kill an entire team, especially a good one.

Fynd: You seem to think the necro is all alone in a team fight. It is your teams job to help protect the necro if he is being attacked. A necro should not be 1v1ing anything. A ranger with quickness will “shred” everything, including a bunker guardian. Thief on a ledge spamming cluster bomb is not nearly as effective as necro spamming his AOE because of how long the travel time on cluster bomb is. To be really effective, the thief has to run into the fray and spam cluster bomb in melee range which is dangerous.

Back on topic: The fear stolen from necros has a very long cast time and can be interrupted. Once it’s interrupted it is lost until it can be stolen again which is generally 39ish seconds for most of the thief builds being used right now. I would much rather steal the 1 second off-global cooldown, single target fear that necros get in death shroud.

I definitely would not say thief attrition is better than necro’s. They do it in different ways. Thief relies on guerrilla tactics to wear down their opponent using stealth and mobility. They move in and out doing some damage then moving away or stealthing, then coming back and repeating. If they are applying bleeds with death blossom, they gain a lot of evade, leaving small windows for damage in between the DBs (which is more than enough time to kill him). Pistol/dagger condi thieves have to rely mostly on cloak and dagger to survive and to do damage. If they miss cloak and dagger for any reason, their damage output and survivability drop dramatically, plus they lose 6 initiative.

Necros wear down their opponent with superior survivability using death shroud and a large amount of crowd control condis like chill, cripple, and fear. Necro wells and marks allow them to create a deadly fortress on themselves while they whittle down their opponent with bleeds. Necros are more reliable sustain due to the ease of landing their large radius AOEs. Necros can have great control over the fight, and can basically play with their opponents like a helpless rag dolls.

Yes, my post has zero value aswell. I could simply write “hahaha”, but then it would be deleted by an admin within 5 minutes.
I just wanted to show how pointless this topic is. To be honest, I shouldn’t write it, but I felt like “spamming” on a public forum when I saw this kind of thread once more.

Ok, but again – why is it pointless? Because people have no idea what they are writing about. It’s making a thread, which just seems easy to discuss for everyone, but in real it’s a very complex thing.

PS: no, I don’t feel offended, that thief is at the bottom of someone’s list. I even have a collection of screenshots of some people whining about the class in-game. I like to browse it from time to time for entertainment.

There’s a problem with this. 1v1 in this game is not balanced at all. Two builds will rise above all others: Mesmer condi build, and d/d ele. These are the two best 1v1 builds in the game, and most builds don’t even come close to killing them.

yepo, they are adding a new map and nerfing the sharks instead of listening to the players and fixing the balancing issues.

there are so many threads about how imbalanced the game is yet nothing is being done. they arent even saying they are working on anything lmao.

so many people have left or stopped spvping that it obviously does not make money for them, so they probably dont care about the spvp players anymore.

Supposedly, there are 5 pages of profession changes/fixes in the next update.

If you’re looking for competition, you need to go to paid tournaments. Free tournaments is where premades test out new builds, comps, and classes. So, you shouldn’t expect every premade in a free tournament to put up a solid fight.

The thief can spam it 3-4 times in a row and each time it’s used it will bounce to up to 4 targets. If only you and someone else are standing next to each other each attack will hit both of you twice. The problem is, every time the thief uses dancing dagger in succession, the daggers will be bouncing simultaneously causing big burst.

This ability is definitely going to be nerfed, as it’s just too strong.

I am long-time PvPer. My resume includes multiple 2K+ WoW Arena teams, SB, DF and dueling record in UO. I almost exclusively WvW in GW2.

I do not participate in tPvP and do not plan to. I am not alone, in my medium-sized ultra-competitive WvW guild there are no organized tPvP teams and no interest to start one.

Here are my reasons:

1. I can’t take my character into tPvP
2. There are no tPvP rewards that would help me advance my character (that I know of)
3. Whole zerg control points tPvP does not appeal to me.

If Anet were to implement 5v5 elimination-style ranked tPvP that awarded PvP tokens I would likely participate.

From where I stand tPvP problem is question of appeal. If you can’t sell your tPvP to PvPers then you ether selling wrong thing or not delivering message in a way it can be understood.

Just my 2c.

if you think you need gear to boost you just in tPvP then gw2 tPvP is not for you and you dont like zergs, but you play WvWvW… WAT?

I feel like headshot and black powder are fine. Dagger/pistol is an amazing weapon set because of the utility it brings. It also brings almost as much damage as dagger/dagger if used correctly. However, if dagger offhand ever gets nerfed then dagger/pistol will be better.

Glass cannon and survivability

Proteus. Glass cannon mesmers, eles, engis, and necros have just as much survivability as a glass cannon thief.

And idk what you mean by a thief “resetting the fight”. If you mean, the thief runs away while his opponent caps a point then comes back after both players have healed to full to try again, then sure, i can agree that the thief is good at at. Too bad his opponent just capped the point and getting points for his team while beating up the thief again.

Play a thief, then fight a glass cannon dagger/dagger ele and tell me thieves have more survivability than other glass cannon classes.

Point: Sure a thief can run away better than any class, but what does the thief accomplish by doing that?
