Thank you for that update. Regarding the PD skill, once it hits everything once, does it hit them again or is a worthless phantasm at that point?

I was thinking about Phantasmal Disenchanter as a skill. Tool tip says you get 4 bounces on 5 players. I’m just trying to figure out how many boons will it strip total per person. Also, which clones get replaced. I don’t want the disenchater clone to be replaces by my auto attack clone from my sceptor. I use sceptor/torch and staff.

I’ve noticed on multiple occasions that the skill wont work. Iv’e asked in team chat and what I was told is that if blind or enemy is blocking or dodging, AT won’t proc. Does enemy need 3 boons or I need 3 conditions for it to proc 100% of the time?

I also have a support guard with Cleric ascended gear. I might bring him back to PvP based on what you just said. I used to have a build that would heal people around me when I used shouts. Does that build still exist? This would excite me to know that I could play an old build without the expansion.

I didn’t purchase HoT. I’ve also been away from the game for over half a year. I’m still learning about all the class updates, etc. My question is – Is it possible to be successful in WvW and not have bought the expansion? I could be dying easily in WvW right now because I don’t know what I’m doing anymore and my build is totally anti Meta. I’m hoping that is all it is. My fear is that I will find it hard to be successful in 1v1 situations, small group situations or even zerg situations without owning the expansion.

Btw, I wouldn’t necessarily call them bad reviews and complaints. 99% of the “complainants” agree that GW2 is a good game at its basis. They would simply like Anet to change the game more to their liking (ie., trilogy, raids, gear treadmills, hardcore gaming elements, etc.) and protest quite loudly while doing so.

It happens in every game. Of course, this type of push and pull only ends up taking the devs away from their vision of the game leaving the game in a twisted mess. Anet developers are a very savvy group though. They know their vision is one that will bring success to the game and will not allow the vocal minority to ruin their game.

Yes, the pitchfork crowd. They do make for some fun forum PvP though. I agree. Anet has an incredible foundation for GW2, but has a lot (and I mean a lot) of work to do to increase the game’s longevity. I think it’s important to point out things you’d like to see in GW2. For example, I love WvW, but hate that week after week the score is settled by Sunday at the latest. I haven’t had the joy of being in a WvW match where the scores ebbed and flowed over 7 days. Even though Anet has a plan for their game, these types of things need to be posted.

I believe that many people (don’t know an exact percentage – just an observation) don’t use their self heal. I’ll be in a party with people and see their health bar go down and never back up. I believe people have not embraced responsibility for healing themselves – they are still looking to others to do it for them.

Here I go again chiming in on PvE difficulty. I agree with the a lot of the sentiment here. I have found the PvE to be hard or easy – neither of which equals challenging. Challenging to me would be requiring me to attack a particular mob differently every time I fight one. If I can spam skills 1,3 and 5 on one weapon, then swap and use skill 2 every single time that isn’t challenging. The only time I have to dodge is when I have two or more mobs on me (I’m a mesmer btw) or am fighting a veteran or my heal has a long CD still. Why can’t mobs have a heal like we do? Why can’t they pick up a boulder and throw it at me knocking me unconscious? I will say this again – I believe the PvE difficulty of BWE1 was the sweat spot for this game. You made a stupid mistake you died. I remember having to use dodge whenever it was off CD. I also get why they lowered the difficulty/challenge of the PvE. There were a lot of complaints things were too hard. Well, now that people have played the game and have gotten used to the mechanics of things, I would suggest that Anet turn the difficulty level back to BWE1.

I don’t know if WvW lockout was scratched, but I do know that you have a one day lockout from switching servers again. Even with the server switch lockout, you can still immediately WvW on that new server.

Picking up loot

Please, please, please….create an auto loot feature. I’m doing the Cursed Shore farm thing and I get a paltry amount of drops where as my guildie fills up 4 bags. I don’t want to assume that there is a loot pick up timer, but there has to be some explanation for what happened today. This gets even more intense in WvW. I remember in the BWE’s loot would come to your feet after a kill, but this appears to be inconsistent in WvW now. I feel like an auto loot would solve both problems.

Would it be asking too much?

I’ve read a lot of threads about GW2 on many forums. My feel from all the threads is that people passionately dislike or love GW2. Mixed in between those types of threads are actual discussions on the good, bad and ugly of the game.

Does anyone else, besides myself, think that the PvE content would improve greatly if the mobs used the same spells, mechanics, etc that the players use. Would it be asking too much for the mobs to resemble the mob AI of GW1? I’m not talking about giving mobs the ability to 1-shot you or giving mobs crazy amounts of health. I also not talking about making mobs hyper sensitive (you know the undead, branded, etc mobs that will attack you if they can actually see you) I’m talking about giving the mobs a variety of ways to kill you (or at the very least make you run away to a safe spot and ask for help). I would love to see a centaur dodge my Chaos Storm, then switch to a weapon that could knock me down. I would love to be able to not use my 10 weapon skills in a certain order. I guess what I’m looking for is a PvE experience that resembles the PvP experience.

I believe increasing the mob AI would give all players a better experience in GW2. Well, this would probably kill soloing unless the scaling really improves in the game.

Thoughts?

I’ll be honest with all of you….I’m happy DE’s are failing for me because there are less people around. I’m level 53 now and love it. I love the challenge of having to use all of my Mesmer tools just to stay alive (half the time I’m not thinking about completing the DE). The earlier zones were too easy because of the Zerg. I now consider DE’s great training for WvW.

The first thing I thought about when reading this title were Risen mobs. They could use a slightly slower respawn rate. It is not a good idea to go into a Risen area when you are trying for the monthly survivor achievement.

I figured it was my old age. My eyes see a hitbox but I cant hit space bar to match it. Wait, 99%? Have you slept since headstart? I’m at 31% and I played when servers opened.

Simple solution. Join a server like mine where we get our butts kicked so bad on most resets, there is never a queu. I really believe that once servers are equally matched, you’ll begin to see better organization. If you listen to chat on my server, people are still struggling with strategies to take keeps, defend keeps, where to place siege weapons, how to control supply, when to break off from the large group.

Honestly, I rolled a Charr Mesmer because I wanted to be unique for race and class. I definitely didn’t roll a Charr to be successful at jumping puzzles.

I only play a Charr right now. It is so dang hard to time a jump running on all fours. Does anyone find it easier to consistently land jumps when you use two feet only? I could be old – this usually explains a lot of things for me. For example, I was doing the jumping puzzle on the WvW map. If I jump before my front paws hit the ground I usually miss the jump or died – or in rare cases just fell off spot w/o even an attempt at a jump. Tight space are really hard.

Sorry no, saying Mesmers are squishy. Shows you dont know much about them.

They one of the best control class’s in the game(meaning one of the easiest to do control with). Meaning being up close in the enemies face and keeping them under control.

I am Melee on my Mesmer 70% of the time, if not more.

With Sword/Focus you can put out really good aoe damage as well, while at same time doing control.

In PvE ive control over 10mobs solo before. This is with being melee for pretty much the entire time.

You are a better player than me. I suck so bad at melee in this game that I’ve chosen staff and greatsword so I can play at range. I enjoy the Mesmer very much until I face a thief or ranger 1v1 on PvP…haha.

First of all let me say I love GW2 and think it was beautifully done, however I do have a few issues.

1: I hate how a zone will say 55-65, first few quest hubs are 55- 57ish then all of a sudden mob levels jump to 62+. I understand that exploration is a big part of the game and you can simply go to another zone of the same level and do some of the earlier quest hubs, but lets be honest…. it is beyond annoying to have to jump all around and 2 silver to use a waypoint to get to another zone seems a bit much. Yes I want to explore all the map but I also want to do it on my terms.

2: I understand that being a F2P game you need to make money some where but I fail to see why buying bank slots is account wide and yet bags are not. Since release I have dropped 50 dollars into game on top of the game cost itself and all I got were like 4 or 5 extra bank slots and unlocked the bag slots for one toon only, still leaving me the extra char slots and all the bag slots for 7 more toons, plus the 1 or 2 bank slots I have left to buy. I would much rather pay a monthly fee and have access to all this then spending another 150 or more dollars on these items.

3: The hall of monuments, why is this only usable for GW1 players? So what if it is only skins or mini pets, it hardly seems fair. I never played GW1 because of the everthing be instanced crap I found it insanely annoying and it felt more like a single person rpg than a MMO. I feel everyone should have the right to use the hall of monuments not just the old GW players considering GW1 is how old now? Makes me feel kind of cheated truth be told.

Anyways those are my beefs, I’m sure like every other MMO forum this post will be flammed and trolled for expressing a opinion, but whatever flame on.

I can kind of agree a bit on number 1. I remember going into a zone at the low end of the level range and ending up with mobs 5 levels higher than me. I remember having to run for my life to get to the part of the map that fit my level range. I would have liked to see the entrance of the map match my level. I’ve played the game since headstart and have logged in 116 hours. I rarely used my bank. I either sold my items on TP (I have to admit I was lucky a few times when they were letting a small % test it out) or salvaged the items for mats. Maybe if I was more of a crafter I’d agree with the second point.

The game you guys created is so amazing it has brought out a lot of hate on many forums. I find it amusing. I know the game is not what everyone considers their “perfect” game but to call it “Full of Poo”, etc makes me laugh. The hard work you put into every detail of the game is awesome. It is so amazing, that even fans of the game don’t understand what they are fans of. If you’ve visited fansites, you’ll know what that last sentence means.

I don’t know who decided to put jumping puzzles in an MMORPG, but it wasn’t a good idea. They can stay, for casual players that like content like that, but the requirement to do them must be removed from what’s needed to complete a zone. I haven’t found any that I wasn’t able to do, but some of them were just purely annoying, and felt like a waste of time, as I was not enjoying it at all, but needed them for the zone completion and the exp that comes along with that

The worst, and most time consuming one I found was one in the South of Dredgehaunt Cliffs, which took me almost 15 minutes to do. This sort of thing just doesn’t belong in an MMO

I initially agreed with you as I read this thread. But, the sense of accomplishment was an amazing feeling to me. However, I remember some of the Vistas are so hard I’d break my wrist and/or keyboard trying to jump to the top.
