Have waypoint expenses been addressed already?

Only being able to port into the nearest entrance to a zone is okay and all, but discovering that you can port even closer (porting a second time) will incur an additional expense to the player.

I understand that waypoint costs are minor, but that silver adds up over time.

Will the cost of waypointing be readdressed?

Wow! It says a lot about how much you care about the story, the game, the fans, and the whole community. Thanks for taking the time to answer some tough questions!

I’d like to second a previously mentioned comment about scripting some of the conversations into the game. It really improves the storyline, immersion, player interest in NPC relationships, the list goes on. Please continue to deliver in that fashion. It gives the game a “breath of life”, so to speak.

I have two simple questions, and I will bribe you with chocolate or alcoholic beverages if necessary in order to get the answers:

What sort of cliffhanger can you give us regarding the relationship between Caithe and Scarlet, and the alleged “dirty laundry” that Scarlet mentions?

This one’s been killing me since early access… “I was going to make a bad salad joke, but now I don’t feel like it.” Can you please find out and tell us what the joke is!? I know it seems petty, but man…

I sincerely appreciate your time, and I’m certain everyone that’s read your posts does as well. Keep up the great work, and thanks again!

Pair the misleading announcement of the weapon box with the terribly disappointing WvW season chest rewards and… Wow. I’ve just experienced a the biggest let down I’ve had since playing SW:TOR. I don’t know whether to be disappointed or embarrassed.

I know that the developers work hard (and I respect that), but did anyone think about the repercussions of publicly introducing a highly desired item then following up the introduction with a, “not really, though,” type of statement?

What happened with the weapon box is similar to introducing a new zone to the game without actually making it accessible to the players. What happened with the WvW chest is similar to going to the company Christmas party and being told the meal served to you was your Christmas bonus, and it cost half the amount of money you spent on gas to get to the party.

C’mon, guys… I really wanna love this game and continue to enjoy it, but when stunts like this happen it makes me want to shut off the computer until another desirable MMO is released.

Guild Airships!

Very easy and short answer. The concept is awesome, but no.

1: The Technique exist. GW2 is build on a heavy modified gw1 engine. You can’t tell me they modified it so far that the possibility for guildhalls is gone. So using an existing skin means this can be done in 2 weeks time.

How do you know that something of such magnitude could be accomplished, and be as intuitive as the developers want, in such a short period of time? What concrete statistics do you have to base this assumption upon?

2: What bout representing? If this is an issue give every member access. but lock the merchants inside (just like it is right now with certain merchants like the banker)

So I like this, but they should first just bring us the halls asap.

Having both (guild halls and guild airships) would be unnecessarily redundant, in my opinion.

I think it’s a great concept as is, and I hope to see it.

I feel silly because I posted this under the WvW Collaborative Development thread without realizing it. The suggestions below are for the game as a whole.

1. Permanent content: An exhausting amount of time and effort is put into Living Story content. It’s available for such a short period of time and then it disappears into the mists. Please afford me the opportunity to revisit the things I’ve enjoyed so much.
2. Dual Trait / Armor Sets: As important in PvE as it is in WvW or SPvP… I change my play style based on my activity. Having to reallocate traits to the same few types I use is tedious. Along with changing roles comes changing gear to better suit the current trait allocation.
3. Instanced Large Scale Events: World boss fights are incredible. Some are exceptionally challenging and require a great deal of coordination (i.e. Tequatl). It only takes one person to kitten their pants, though, and everyone participating in the event has to wear diapers. In fairness, the players that want to put forth the effort to tackle tougher objectives deserve the opportunity to segregate themselves from those that choose to go AFK or otherwise fail to be productive.
4. More Strategy / Tactics: The Living Story dungeons that introduced fight mechanics as the dungeon progressed were phenomenal! More of that, please. If I could play the dungeon from Flame & Frost repeatedly, I’d do it for unreasonable amounts of time.
5. Overflow Management System: The overflow system, in its current state, is a “bandaid”, at best. The district system used in GW1 would be a welcome addition to the game in lieu of how overflows are managed. Thanks for reading!

Overflows vs. Districts

in Suggestions

Phunkadelic.3462

BLUF: The district system that was used in GW1 is, in my opinion, superior to the current overflow system in GW2. Would it be feasible to replace the overflow system with the district system?

Districts afforded the opportunity to choose, whereas overflow is “like a box of chocolates.”

The overflow system, as it is right now, does not allow players to effectively manage their location. During the initial release of Tequatl Rising, I recall being relocated from one overflow to another, to another, and so on, without a choice of which overflow I went to. Consequently, I’d switch until I found what I felt was a reasonably populated zone. I’ve often heard of people joining groups to be ferried into different overflows solely for the purpose of killing Taco (hats off to those orchestrating that, btw!). Maybe instanced large events could resolve their problem? I’ll probably have to start another post about that…

During Clockwork Chaos many knew to join a party to avoid being moved to an overflow if they disconnected during Scarlet’s invasions. Unfortunately those that didn’t know to party up and were disconnected got kittened out of finishing the event, and the loot that came with it. Additionally, some would zone into the region, perform one event during the invasion, go AFK, and get the same post invasion reward as those that actively participated for the entire invasion. Perhaps adjusting the criteria for the removal of non-contributors should be addressed, too? I’ll have to make a different post for that, too…

I understand if technical limitations or fundamental game design are inhibiting factors. If that’s the case, though, knowing that would be awesome so I can abandon my hope for a solution instead of clutching onto pipe dreams.

Fast switch between specs

If I’m not mistaken there were hot swappable weapon sets in the original Guild Wars that afforded players the opportunity to switch weapons during combat. Similar to what exists now, but bound to the F keys by default, so multiple weapons sets were at a player’s disposal, as opposed to just one additional weapon set (sorry Elementalists!). I think that proves ArenaNet knows how to implement this already, however I don’t know how different the programming is between the original GW and GW2.

I can see your suggestion being very helpful, and I would certainly use it often. Having to respec manually when you’re going to use the same build every time is tedious. Swapping gear for the same reason is as well.

Forum Moderation

TL;DR: Please highly encourage or require moderators to cite the offending statement made and rule broken (if it’s not already done). Additionally, a means to appeal a suspension or a “two person validation” among moderators may be warranted for “weighty” disciplinary actions.

I support the concept of having a healthy forum community entirely, as well as “firm handedness” when it comes to disciplinary actions. In the past, however, many have complained that their post did not violate policy and that they were unjustly suspended. Even some developer posts have been removed by moderators. I understand this isn’t exactly a democracy, I’m just asking the question, as I’m certain others are wondering about this themselves: Will there been any process in place to appeal a suspension so players may actively contribute to the community? Perhaps requiring the approval of two moderators to implement a suspension would be helpful? I know that would create a lot more work, though… Just brainstorming “out loud”.

Rigid enforcement of forum standards must be conducted clearly and articulately in effort to prevent the unwarranted thwarting an otherwise constructive community into submission. I would certainly be less inclined to post constructive feedback if I felt I was going to be disciplined without good reason. It would be beneficial for moderators to cite the rule that was violated and include the comment made which violated the rule. Individuals will be more apt to understand why disciplinary suspension was invoked and be less likely to repeat their offense. Any chance this could be implemented? Forgive me if it’s already this way, as I have no experience with disciplinary action in this forum.

Thanks for your time.

Two thumbs up! Boffo!

“Excuse me, sir? Can I talk to you for just a minute?”
“Yeah, sure! What’s the deal, eh?”
“We’ve known each other for almost a year now, and I need to tell you something… So I really like mini pets and I think I might be able to help you make some money… If I could show my mini pets off, I bet I’d probably buy more of’em. I’m pretty sure that a lot of other people would, too…”
“So you like mini pets, huh? You wanna show off the mini pets you’ve collected, yeah?”
“I sure do!”
“So how’s about an anniversary gift, y’know, say, somethin’ like a place to choose which mini pet you wanna have taggin’ along with ya, huh? Would you like somethin’ like that?”
“Absolutely!”
“That’s good. I’m glad you took the time to tell me about it. Y’know, I’m glad that you can trust me enough to come’n talk to me about things that matter to ya. Looks like you brought a bunch’a ya little pals for support, too, eh?”
“Yes sir! They all think it’s a great idea and would be super thankful for it. Some of them even said they’d be more likely to pay you for more mini pets, too! So, you’d get more money, and we’d get cool little buddies to show off! How cool is that!?”
“Y’know, kid, it sounds like a win-win kinda thing, but I’m kinda busy… Do me a favor, would ya? Keep on gettin’ more friends to c’mon over and tell me about it. What I’m gonna do is sit here and let you guys just beat me over the head with dollar bills and not react… At all.
