3 games into the season, bold claims sir. lol.
Yeah it is lame seeing ~4 dh every game, a little too easy to play at a mediocre skill level.
…Sure, some people will say that you only lose when you die, but if you are forced to tuck your tail and disengage completely (go ooc) it’s a loss in my book.
Thieves have one ability over all other classes, Mobility. As a thief you have no idea how many people have whispered me hateful things about resetting fights. “Stealth is a crutch, you go ooc you lose, try fighting me fair”, etc etc. It’s almost irrelevant to them that you killed them after the third opener. That’s the goal when I play thief, to kill you on the second or third opener. You guys see it as a quick and dirty 30 second slug fest, I play it as a 2 minute dissection of your skills and cooldowns. Also I don’t play condi, I play generic power d/p d/d.
The basic idea of thief, that few seem to accept, is that its entire design is based around it being a mobile, stealthy, killer. It will and should be able to assassinate enemies who are alone, wandering the wilderness. What you guys are doing by complaining about these things is slowly homogenizing the game. If your a slow, bulky, whatever class/build that gets ganked by thieves, probably don’t go out alone. We can either have an asymmetrical unbalanced game about fun and flavor and different classes, or we can have WoW.
Division 6 in PvP.
Full ascended gear with legendary weap on Light armor/thief
Working mic
No yelling, No children.
Escapist’s Absolution + Dodge + Shadow shot
Shadowstep + Hard stealth resets
You are by default a hard counter to mesmer, wait out and dodge their cooldowns, reset, let them have the point, and kill them 10 seconds later.
Backstab+Steal chunks them hard enough on resets (they arnt/cant be constantly blocking/distorioned)
They, like most classes, will beat you if you push the issue. lean back, soft reset, and you will win within 20 seconds. Don’t stand on them auto attacking and hope they don’t know how to use any one of their 6+ defensives, they do.
Regon is a pretty obvious and bad troll don’t let him rustle your jimmies.
Maybe, but acting like a fool doesn’t make you less of one.
Do you have any credentials at all for these bold, and seemingly mindless claims?
Any explanation or basic Ideals that you have about what “fair” actually means to you?
I’d personally love to hear explanations for these claims, class by class so I can dispute them, and from there we can come to a better understanding of what such an asymmetrical game is about. The beauty of this style of games IS the differences, and the only goal the developer can achieve to “balance” the game is to make the most people happy with their classes. The game is first and foremost about fun, every facet of the game is based on that. The game is purposely vague and simple when it comes to how classes interact. The ranking system rewards time and not dedication or talent.
My point is, you are kind of a dimwit who is misleading sheep that trust arrogant fools.
The amount of rudeness and disregard for people in this community is out of control. I don’t feel the need to elaborate or give examples on this, because I’m assuming you have all read the things that people write in PvP chat. Acknowledging the problem is important, and I don’t believe many of us really have. The problem isn’t a few hateful people in general chat, it’s the complete lack of respect for people throughout this game and our culture.
This bubble that started around 10 years ago of video games and video game culture will pop, and when it does its important to think about what will remain. This is a call to the people that actually care about this, about a hobby you can enjoy. I’ve been playing video games for 20 years now, and the worst thing to happen to them is popularity. The hate soaked pop culture of today has seeped into this thing I care about, and its draining it. Every single day it drains the joy out of this hobby I used to care about so much. I’m honestly afraid to open chat, to talk to people, to not put a emotional brick wall between me and these games.
I think whats needed is not a simple or easy thing, its for us who care, who want to enjoy our lives and our hobby, to not fight their hate and ignorance with more of the same. If you are scared of the chat, then stay out of it and try to salvage what you can with friends that you play with. If you can handle the chat, then fight them with simplicity and kindness. If they tell you that your terrible, tell them your trying and the game is about fun. If they get hateful, tell them they are being hateful, rude, ignorant, etc, then block them. This isn’t for their benefit, its for the others that hear (read) it. When they see that not everyone is a hateful fool for attention, it will alter their actions and feelings about whats acceptable online.
In time, once the fools leave this culture and go back to facebook and twitter to express their hate and disregard for humanity, this community will still be here. Its important to think about what will be left. Salvage what we can now, lets try to help positively effect people, and make some friends along the way. When the bile people move on, the only thing they will take away from this community is the hate, disgusting greed oriented marketing of dlc, early access, always online, and general money grubbing.
I could write and talk about this forever, but I’ll try to keep this post brief. Thanks for reading, I hope someone who cares reads this and knows they aren’t alone, and that they shouldn’t be embarrassed about caring.

Most of the low tier games end up being blowouts BECAUSE a team “realizes” that its the losing team. They start fighting, afking, blaming each other, self fulfilling prophesy.
A lot of the games you consider to have lost due to an enemy 3 cap or a mid fight loss, ends up going the other way because the enemy team spread thin to do that, then gets wiped and counter capped. sPvP is about resource management, counting each of your 5 teammates as resources.
Mostly I would consider not giving up even when you think you lost, and trying to change the culture of hate and blame that is so popular in video games these days. Short of that, the game ends up being a “coin toss” with you as the one pushing it in one direction or the other as much as you can, with gameplay and positive attitude.
You guys are so ridiculous about this stuff. You complain and complain and complain, then finally they change something, then you decide its not actually what you wanted changed. It was a 10 second cc, in a game where nothing compares, not even close, 2-4 second cc/cc chains. It was, and still is absurd to exist. 6 seconds is a good start, but core mesmer or “OP TUNED ELITE CLASS” doesn’t need (and can’t have) access to a skill that powerful compared to other skills in the format. And whatever you guys are talking about elite skills warping the game and that’s how they should be, I think maybe you should try or read some other classes elite skills, they often aren’t “game warping”, that’s usually left to one or two utility skills per class or the profession skill, but that’s already a non-argument to begin with. A skill is a skill, and is in the format.
I would like class colored/symbols on enemy health bars, and at least see my teamates. Really hard to know who needs heals etc etc
According to our logs, the person playing as “Sam” was not the owner of the account
Out of curiosity, how do you find this information out. I know you wont say details, but it makes me question my privacy.
It’s very easy to find out. First, you look at the login history. Second, check the keybinds. Third, check the playstyle/build (and things like the order of utility slots). Finally, observe the game and deliver the ban hammer.
I thought maybe it was a bit more involved, because it was so high profile. I hope it was, kind of.

IP most likely. There may be an ID associated with a PC (like with iPhones) or the game application that gets sent back to Anet.
I assume they saw an IP discrepancy, I’m more curious how that turned into knowing what happened, or if it was all just assumptions.

God Tier – only other from god tier can defeat god tier class
Mid Tier – they are on verge of not being meta.
Low Tier – …waste everyone’s time playing these, because other teammates will have to carry your dead weight:
Mostly All Core Classes
This is a very specific mindset for a very simple/lazy kind of person that doesn’t understand the core mechanics of any competitive game. Please don’t buy into lazy things like this, read your moves, read your talents, enjoy the game. This type of copy/paste play is the reason games become stale and boring. Some things are clearly stronger than others at certain things, but just use some thought and you’ll do fine (eventually).
It is a pretty absurd skill. I feel like it lasts ~3 seconds too long, and the idea of them doing another to someone is insane to me. Doesn’t break on damage, doesnt have any downsides (other than taking up a slot), doesnt require any commitment to build or weap. It’s a cool ability and a cool idea, just seems very out of place in a game where CC in general lasts no more than 2-3 seconds.
On another note, the ability to use any cooldown twice is inherently difficult to balance, as it opens up so many options. Not only that, but as a mesmer player its one of the most stressful things to manage, planning out your cooldowns, position, portal position, etc. All in all, feels stressful to low end/new people playing mesmer, and unfair and too easy to people playing against it. Balance is a concept that can’t really be achieved in a game like this, but both ends having less fun seems like a bad mechanic.
Skyhammer is silly. Those jump pads, when your running fast sometimes you cant make the jump, you get tossed into them, you get pushed down holes. The crazy cannon isn’t a problem, its the base idea of the map. and having the catwalk things above the points is also really strange. Forces people into certain specs to use those well. Just a strange map overall. Please dont put it in ranked.
Spirit watch is okay. Wish teammates would stop rushing mid every game at the start into sloggy meaningless team fights though. Seems like a lot of them aren’t aware of the bridge gate or something. Know I didn’t for a long time. Maybe outline gates, face us a different way at spawn, idk. Doesn’t seem like a major problem on paper, but makes unranked and low MMR games pretty wonky at the start.
I only play pvp, still think HoT was a good purchase. Its 50$ for a game with no Sub fee like this, hard to find. Its a F2P model, one of the fairest ive seen. Pay once and your done. No rotation for what characters your allowed to play, no hundreds of hours/dollars required to play what you want. Think of the base game like a demo for the real game. Most games dont even give you that anymore.
The reason I want ranked back. When you que into a ranked match, there is something on the line, a win is good, and a loss is bad. In unranked people tend to not care in my experience, playing team death match instead of trying to win, going for 4v1s instead of holding points, fighting on roads, etc. People don’t seem to find standing on a point calling things out to be as fun as chasing down a wounded thief so 3 people can fight to execute him. Basically, they don’t care. More important than matching equally skilled people, ranked matches people with the same mindset, trying to win and advance.
