Unfortunately, and I mean no disrespect, I think this is a perfect example of one of the problems I see with Yak’s Bend. Your mentality is so rooted in numbers, that you guys seem to give up and forget strategy.
40 man zergs are not the ideal play style, and they are not at all necessary. I run a guild that at most fields 15 people, and there is rarely a tower we can’t take, and a keep we can’t pressure. If I could have one 40 man zerg or two 15 man organized groups, I would go with organization any day. We learned, as a server, how to do this because we were so often outmanned. We know siege placements, work together, know how to ninja, and have some of the best mesmers in the game. These are more important than numbers any day.
It’s easy to say these things when you have the overall numbers in your favor. Yak’s Bend’s mentality is fine. We have people who are organized. Like all servers, we have many people who run around aimlessly – every server has those people. Also, there’s only so much a “ninja” group can do. You take a tower or two and word gets around to the enemy and they finally root you out because of their numbers.
The good thing about Yak’s Bend is that we have a relatively stable membership. When all the servers that have been poisoned by over-transfers rise to the top, we will end up in the middle Tier with even matchups and loads of fun. We don’t need the drama that comes with over-populating a server.
That sounds highly unlike MOON, do you guys have any screenshots/evidence that they just didn’t beat down the wall or something and somehow manage a bomb?
I was right inside the door operating a catapult in Bluelake and saw the mesmer use the exploit. The problem with getting a screenshot is that the mesmer would have to stand beside the closed gate while I press my printscreen button
.
Shortly afterward I spotted a different player from the guild SR using an obvious teleport exploit.
Lots of “scammers” today. :P

Well…we thought TC’s use of mesmers portal bombing was cool, but then we saw a mesmer use the exploit that was suppose to be fixed and portal bombed Bluebriar and Redlake with that exploit. GG.
“The way to counter this is to ball up in one place and AoE around it. If he can’t hit any of you, he can’t stealth for long and will be forced to either run away or die.”
There’s a problem with the game mechanics when it requires 20 players to stand on top of each other just to capture a supply camp, because of a single opponent.
Yeah…you need to review your guild membership as there was some serious activity at that supply camp mentioned above. Probably 20 witnesses.
We are currently trying to take a camp in WvW but we are unable to do so because of a hacker. Can’t report or screenshot because we can’t target him for more than a millisecond. I have already reported several players for hacking but this guy was impossible to report.
I always see this “I saw an Orb get hacked” yet they somehow can’t find the Print Screen button on their keyboard. Alternatively, target and right-click.
The only Yak’s hackers that have evidence against them have been free transfers.
It’s afternoon on the weekend and DH still hasn’t shown up. Can’t expect Yak’s to take on CD by themselves.
Looks like CD is heavy on night cappers. They own almost all of EB and they are starting to run away with the score.
What we all thought was going to be a close race is turning into a blow-out.
This is not a fun match for Yak’s Bend. Once again, it’s the result of the free transfer system, but in this case we dropped a tier. GoM was once a good WvW server and we’ve faced them before in a tough match but it looks like they were negatively hit by the transfers.
Arenanet seems to have this belief that free transfers will even thing out.
Its not that we are stacked, its that Yaks dropped down a tier…
Yes…we shouldn’t have dropped a tier. This is another by-product of the free transfers.
Speak up Arenanet…your rankings are messed up badly and they are weighed down by several weeks of worthless data.
It would be incorrect to believe that Yak’s Bend didn’t give a good effort. I know my guild did their best taking over objectives but there is no way in hell that we could hold anything for long with the numbers SoR zerged with. The week played out too much like the failed MMO Warhammer – run around avoiding the enemy while trying to take stuff. Yak’s Bend has heart, but we’re not stoopid.
I hope Arenanet made a great deal of money on initial sales. Many games have been killed by weaknesses being exposed by the players. Congratz on those guilds in helping to destroy a potentially good game. You guys knew this was going to happen but you did it anyways. You should have went to Kaineng, where they really needed help.
I find the lack of response from Arenanet disturbing.
It’s still broke.
The Top Priority to be fixed is the ranking system.
Gotta say that this matchup is more evidence of how the Arenanet ranking system is absolutely, totally useless. Time to reset the rankings and start over. Back to 24 hour matchups.
Three servers that shouldn’t have been matched against each other. Epic failure Arenanet.
I am sorry to say this, but player culling will NEVER be fixed. It will only get worse. It’s a by-product of all the player customizations in the game.
Please be aware that these “Yak’s Bend” hackers are coming from other servers to mess up our reputation.
as a dagger storm thief, feedback kills us, instantly.
I have put Feedback on a number of thieves and I have not seen it do damage. Perhaps Dagger Storm is reflecting the projectiles that are being reflected by the Feedback?
Since the greatest source of badges is the jumping puzzles, I can’t entirely agree with that suggestion. We also need to limit the number of blue dots.
If a small guild has a good leader, he is going to have to put his recruiting skills to work. You aren’t going to win battles with players who are aimlessly following blue dots. You will need direct communication (eg. voice chat) with the followers or else they are nothing but meat shields. Map and team chat are frequently ignored.
First off….stop selling the Commander book and refund those who have purchased one.
Commander’s Rank is not something that should be bought. It should be based entirely upon guild influence as we all know it is guilds which make WvW function.
Guilds should be allocated a number of Commander’s Rank slots based upon their influence. The Guild leader then assigns individuals to these slots.
This prevents the problem of spending 100G on a player who then gets leadership burnout and stays away from the game for an extended period of time.
The 100G Commander Rank idea was a terrible, absolutely awful idea.
What really hurts is when there should be an overmatched buff and there isn’t. The lack of a buff means players are going to stay out of WvW or they go to a server that has a high population and live with the queue.
A long queue is better than going to a map with no queue and very few players…unless you are a masochist and like to die, over and over.
I have noticed even in places like Lion’s Arch that they player culling has grown worse over the past few weeks – even during non-prime time. So it’s not just due to player participation. They have been applying patches to fix other issues which has made player culling worse.
We have lots of screenshots of Yak’s Bend people underground attacking altars and a few of a large group of Yak’s Bend doing a garrison wall glitch to bypass a gate.
Where’s the proof? Post it.Talk is cheap.
This current matchup between Maguuma, Yak’s Bend and Ebay is an EPIC failure of Arenanet’s ranking system. All three seem to be far apart from each other in WvW. The ONLY saving grace and that it’s only one week not TWO.
If they don’t rework their system quickly, they are going to kill off half their existing servers.
Also remove all mass stealth in the game.
But Arenanet didn’t think too far ahead by giving unlimited skills.
Supply blocking is a valid strategy. People can port around from distant supply camps, so your idea would invalidate the Dolyak system.
If Ehmry Bay wants to man-up, there’s an Orb in a keep right by their spawn camp.
Can’t report an exploiter if you can’t see their name.
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

The problem with showing everyone in LOS is that it is impossible for the server to handle that amount of outbound traffic.
I was on the map at the time this occurred. The person carrying the Orb appeared to be moving at normal speed through the water and into the south gate of the destination keep. The problem is how it was obtained. One major problem in this game is that a group of five players or less can get into a keep without being detected on the map.

There are guild, who shall remain nameless, who are taking advantage of this weakness in the code by stacking large numbers of players together and compounding the issue by applying stealth. This is a game-breaking issue and needs to be addressed. Increasing queues will not fix the problem.
