I don’t miss raiding, nor the mindset that accompanies it. There are plenty of games that focus on it.

Why oh why do you people keep trying to turn this game into one of those?

Because I want raiding but I also want guild wars 2’s amazing art, combat, support and community.

Anybody else miss "punishing" games?

People like to bash WoW, for good reason, but I think Burning Crusade was the Best MMO I ever played. I am 26 and I have tried basically every MMO ever. (cept eve, never got into that)

Heroic 5 mans were very challenging and a blast to do with friends, while not taking too long. 10 man kara (before nerfs) was the highlight of my week. BT felt extremely epic, and Sunwell is possibly the best raid ever made.
Plus, you still had to do a good bit of farming each week for potions and food buffs. I liked a bit of old fashioned farming; prefer it greatly over daily quests (and daily achievements)

I am not ashamed to say I miss vanilla and BC.

Any possibility of grenade auto attack?

Id rather keep it ground target anyway, if they gave engi another DPS option I think there would be a lot less complaints, and people who like the ability as is wont lose the utility.

Ele downed are the worst, nobody argues against that.

As I mentioned earlier, the real problem is thief and Mesmer get a guaranteed interrupt no matter how many are finishing them, and ignores enemy immunity to cc.

while everyone else (cept ele) can only interrupt one person, and if that person has stealth or stability or shrunk then we can’t stop them.

Just bring thief and Mesmer in line and engi downed will suddenly and magically seem fine.

Engineer rifle spells and warrior rifle spells seem to be backwards.

I think people are generally ok with the rifle, but would like some ranged DPS option that is not grenades, which I think a solid 60% of these threads boil down to.

Please keep in mind that the randomness come at a increased benefit, elixirs are MORE powerful then other classes equivalents, but the drawback is the random component.

Example, other classes get 4 seconds of swiftness with a set penalty.
Engineer gets 5 seconds of swiftness )or, at least we are supposed to) with a random penalty. Also alchemy traits can make them pretty powerful.

Not saying they are perfect, but just reminding everyone that idea behind the randomness is that we also get stronger benefits.

Engineers need help PVE.

You don’t need to do anything, the turret will create its own field, and you can tell the field is in effect because it will appear as a large white ring around the turret.

NOTE: When the ring appears is not always 100% predicable because the turret can be buggy, sometimes it takes a second, and also it will disappear quickly. Try it out in town until you get the hang of it.

NOTE2: You can easily tell when you correctly detonate the turret because you will see and hear a big “water splash” effect when you blow up the turret, also you will be healed for an addition 1.2-1.5k HP

Crit % seems too low

I would highly recommend maxing out firearms, it gives a ton of crit. Also trinkets make a big difference.

I stand at 59% crit with full exotic berserker, gets to over %80 with food and fury.

Don’t forget your food buffs! they are VERY powerful, persist through death, and cost almost nothing,

That’s crafted berserker exotic, fairly standard and easy to come by.

They just got rid of it, it was a water field combined with mine field blast, but it no longer works. You can still get a decent combo heal by placing a healing turret then quickly blowing it up, but its not nearly as powerful.

Generally speaking your best bet is grenades. They do massive DMG at long range, and aoe chill on freeze grenade can be considered one of the best (if not the best) debuff ability in the game, especially useful for PVE encounters. Plus grenades will very quickly get vuln stacks up to 25 so your entire group is doing 25% more dmg. Also use a rifle for CC when needed.

I also like to run with a healing turret, but it down then blow it up for some very heavy aoe healing on a short cool down.

Looking to create/join WvW/sPvP guild.

I am in the same exact boat as you POWELL, I have a small guild with vent, but I’m looking for the something more active (WvW, PvP and some PvE). Preferably 18+ or even older.

Maybe we can merge, depends on how many you got. Otherwise let me know if you find a good guild please, I would be interested.

You should try out a Hybrid Grenade spec, so good. Plenty good in a team fight.

That is my current spvp spec of choice!

Engi is pretty good, people just don’t fight them because there are simply less of us. Also our burst is limited and we are only ok 1v1, so the masses don’t realize they should be complaining about other things we can do that should probably be toned down.

I would like to see many of our kits and bugs fixed, but that is not limited to our class.

I think grenades would still be viable without the trait, its one of the best (if not the best) way to apply chill in the game. Also it would still quickly apply vuln stacks for PVE.

But yes, all engi DMG besides nades needs to be bumped up or sigils/weapon stats need to work with kits (would would result in a large DMG increase as well)

This would be the wrong way to go. Other kits need to be brought up to the level of nades not the other way around.

I agree, however I was responding to the OP who claimed weapons supplemented kits, and by kits I assumed he meant grenades, seeing hows its the only one that could be considered stronger than basic weapons.

On a side note, I feel grenades are too strong, and if every kit was as strong as grenade the engi would be overpowered.

Honestly, if you like throwing grenades you can just do that and win everything. In orr you can pop elixir B/U and kill vets in the span of seconds. Large packs are no problem because the ability is AOE, and if you ever think you are going to die just use Supply Drop, it is the definition of an “I Win” button. I never kite, just make sure to throw out a chill grenade so mobs do 1/3 dmg at all times. (or move so slow you can just back peddle)

Honestly I died more times from falling.

So, with grenades we do very well in PVE and solo, but the fun factor is up to you to decide. I enjoy grenades, many don’t.

No tool belt skill is effected by traits that only modify kit abilities, because tool belt skills are their own ability class.

Please notice it specifies “kit skill” right in the trait description.

i am sure this will receive a nerf after a week if that happens. 25 might stack would be easy to achieve with crit condition damage build, thats free 875 power and condition damage. proper runes and you have perma burn and the burn damage alone would deal crazy amounts of damage.

I highly suspect grenades single target DMG is not intended to be higher then rifle and pistol, and will be changed in the following few weeks. Hopefully with a rifle and pistol DMG buff.

There also many complaints about it in WvW, It will probably be reworked over the next few months.

But, keep in mind, super fast attack speed is really good for us, especially if they ever fix sigils with kits. I can’t wait until i’m walking around with 20 stacks of might because my flamethrower or grenade kit crits 4 times a second!

Do you gain an additional %1 of damage for each stack of a boon on you, or is it only %1 for each different boon on you.

For example, if you have 4 stacks of might and swiftness on you, is that %5 extra damage or %2?

This a pretty serious issue, Grenades are far and away the best DMG option, especially when you consider how quickly they stack vulnerability up to 25.

Now, personally I love grenades, but its not fair for others who don’t like using them. There are a couple of possible solutions…

1. Buff rifle and pistol damage so that our main weapons also become our main single target DPS choice…

2. Nerf Grenades ability to stack vulnerability so quickly.

3. Make the end of each trait line have a grand master trait as powerful as grenadier for each of the corresponding kits.

Example…
Explosives :New bomb kit grand master that greatly buffs bomb kit
Firearms : New pistol/rifle grand master that greatly buffs gun DMG
Inventions : New Med Kit/Turret grand master
Alchemy : New Flame Thrower/Elixir Gun grand master
Tools : New Tool Kit/Gadget(s) grand master

While 3 would take the most effort to balance, I think our grand masters could use some work anyway, and this would kill 2 birds with one stone.

Grenade skill #1 needs hard target

Removing ground targeting would no longer allow grenades to hit targets out of LOS, this is especially important in WvW. When I ask myself “what does ground targeting accomplish” and “is ground targeting necessary for the functionality of the skill” the answer is a clear yes.

The simple solution is to buff rifle and pistol damage (especially single target) so people who want to PVE don’t feel “forced” to spam grenades in every situation.

I enjoy grenades as they are now, and find their use fun, different and challenging.
