It’s a great idea and one that all of us GW Vets are already accustomed to. And think of the additional adversity Anet could take advantage of in future mob creation and especially boss creation.

More game depth and additional specialization, imagine if every warrior used a greatsword with completely different skill sets. Sounds like a game I once played, in fact in that game you could also have a second profession and use any weapon you wanted without profession limitations….but I guess that’s another story

Would be great if it were possible and even greater if they added it.

I wouldn’t care if they put up a special “Free Trial Server”, that would be cool with me.

However,
I would NOT want for a bunch of free account rift-raft in my home server, NO WAY been there done that.

I’ve seen the result of that before with AO years back, they called them Froobies (Free Noobies) and they talk crap, put the game down, start problems in chat (like racist comments and slurs), training mobs onto players and getting them killed, cause lag and generally just detract from the rest of the community.

And what do they care? What is Anet gonna do? Ban their Free Account, they’ll just make a new one. But put up a Free Account Server “separate” from those of us that paid for the game, and I’d be in support of that.

The home instance was said to be the location of your personal housing when it is implemented. Since every person will have their own player home and will use the same area you can see the complications.

I would also like to see DragonBall stick around, but I also wanted RollerBeetle to be permanent. If not I hope it comes back for multiple festivals and not just Dragon Bash.

All this complaining is non-sense, if anybody didn’t know about the fireworks it was their own fault, everything is posted in advance. If anybody was out of town to do more important things, that was their choice.

So where was the information?

Fireworks Event

During the first weekend, between 9am PDT June 14 and 9am PDT June 17th, a grand fireworks show will repeat every two hours. Players who witness the finale will be awarded a container holding three account-bound commemorative dragon helms, one for each armor class in the game.

Most major events happen during Holiday’s and Holiday weekends and has been that way since I first started playing GW 7yrs ago – this is nothing new, the items and event fun are an “Incentive” for you to come and play the game during these times. If you have something more important to do with your life, then that is your choice. Anet didn’t fail, they went out of their way to make sure there was a page with the information available and gave us the “DIRECT” link to it “DIRECTLY” from the game client.

Every single event there are “ALWAYS” these people that come into town asking about information on the current event. I bet I told 100 people that the fireworks were every odd hour server time. If you want to play an ever-changing MMO, then you need to “READ”.

Just like real life events like a concert/graduation/wedding/funeral/etc and get the information or your going to miss it, and if you do miss it, they are not going to do it again for you. It is “YOUR” responsibility to……

As frustrating as it is to have the TP offline for some of us, I just wanted to say that this maintenance is “desperately” needed and I’m glad your working to fix it.

It has been slow with short periods of just searching and searching for sometimes several minutes at a time before bringing up anything.

I’m very happy that someone is working to make it better, it has needed a good “cleaning” for awhile now.

It’s currently down for maintenance. Honestly, all those items that are priced at vendor price or lower should be automatically closed and items returned to the sellers. There’s a ton of junk on there that can’t be touched (as far as buying/selling) that probably takes up valuable space. I assume the TP is in someway integrated into a database, in that case, condensing the contents and optimizing it would help speed up pull times when we attempt to use it.

How can there be items priced at lower than vendor value?

When the game first came out you could buy/sell items below merchant value, it was changed sometime after that.

Taxes are way too high.

Tax is fine.
They should add two things:
1- A 5% tax on bidding orders that are still free atm and mainly used by people playing market and we dont like them.
2- Items like gear, jewels, weapons that you find, drop, craft can be sold on the TP. Once bought they become account bound and can’t be sold again. Once again we don’t like people playing the market.

That’s called Communism, an economic blunder which stagnates growth and availability of goods and services. People that play the market create competition and are responsible for economic growth and quality of life. Granted that’s a real life condition but it has the same “general” effect on the game’s economy as well.

The goal was to create a viable player market that would prevent spam selling in map chat like “Spamaden”, while giving players an alternative to both obtaining items as well as generating funds for themselves.

The current capitalist system accomplishes it’s goal quite well and realistically.

1) Price is a direct result of supply and demand and generates competition between merchant players, which helps to equalize prices.

2)The current tax offers a gold sink that prevents inflation that would leave new players to the game at a massive disadvantage, and that would be further amplified with time.

The system is perfect and does what it is meant to accomplish, nothing needs to be changed.

No More New Currencies for New Rewards

When the game launched, there were 5 major currencies:

  • Gold
  • Gems
  • Karma
  • Dungeon Tokens
  • Badges of Honor

As of now, the amount of currencies has nearly doubled with the addition of:

  • Laurels
  • Commendations
  • Fractal Relics
  • Pristine Fractal Relics

I did not include Influence and Merits in this because those are earned on a per guild rather than per person basis. I also did not include sPvP currencies.

At launch, players could effectively earn the majority of the currencies with a playstyle that included 1 or 2 of the major game systems (open world PvE, WvW, Dungeons).

The consequence of all these currencies is that they all now have exclusive rewards.

  • I can not earn ascended amulets or other laurel vendor gear with by playing though dungeons, WvW, or fractals. I must do dailies to gain awards that are exclusive to dailies; therefore, I must add dailies to my playstyle.
  • I can not earn ascended earrings(accessories) by doing WvW, fractals, dungeons, or PvE. I now must add Guild Missions to my playstyle OR sacrifice a month worth of dailies + monthly + 50ecto to afford one earring.
  • I can not earn ascended rings by playing dungeons, WvW, or open world PvE. I must either add fractals and dailies to my playstyle .
  • I can not earn ascended back pieces by playing dungeons, WvW, Guild Missions, Dailies, or open world PvE. I must add fractals to my playstyle.

So, as of right now, I must do the following to gear 1 character:

  • Guild Missions
  • Fractals
  • Dailies/Monthlies
  • Dungeons/Crafting for exotic armor

God help you if you prefer playing WvW…
Oh, and by the way, I have 8 characters…


I humbly submit that you do not add any more currencies. You are not extending the goal post anymore; you are adding multiple goal posts in every kitten direction. As soon as I run one way, there’s a goal post in a COMPLETELY different direction. I consider myself “hardcore”, but this is getting extremely tiring.

To be clear, I am NOT saying that you should not add more content.

What I’d like is for rewards for new content to be tied to existing currencies.

I suggest that you:

Add all ascended gear types to

  • Guild Merits
  • Dungeons (i.e. require 3-4 gifts to make an accessory)
  • WvW
  • Fractals (edit)
  • Karma (edit)
  • CRAFTING

And for the sake of Lyssa, use NEW SKINS AS INCENTIVES INSTEAD OF STATISTICAL INCREASES. I can tell you right now those using medium armor classes really could use some options.

Skins and titles are what kept people playing in GW1; new long term goal posts every month are what’s driving wedges in the game now.

We should be obtaining “Stat Gear” to play the game, not playing the game to obtain “Stat Gear”, that’s absolutely the same wrong direction that long dead MMO’s chose to take.

Skill and content based, not item and level based is the way to go. What about the promise to keep the game focused on people succeeding by playing the game the way they want to play it?

All gear should be craftable or purchasable, gear is not the reward (or it shouldn’t be) the content is the reward (or should be).

Skins and titles should be the goalposts, it’s about character development, not gear grinding.

Ritualist (joneb) – Similar to GW1, the Ritualist could conjure spirits that could be used in conjunction with their spells. Ashes could also be conjured to provide a unique 1-5 skillset, and could be dropped for an effect (Area might, damage to enemies, etc)

We already have a Ritualist, it’s called an Engineer.

Conjured Spirits are called “Turrets”.

Conjured Ashes are called “Toolkits” that provide unique skillsets and when dropped the effect is determined by the Sigil of the wielded weapon.

Additionally the Ritualist had the ability to allocate points into “Spawning Power” to increase a Spirit’s health, likewise the Engineer can put points into “Inventions” to have the same type of effects on Spirits/Turrets by decreasing damage dealt by 30% and adding “Self Repairing Turrets”, having the same effect as a Ritualist healing Spirits.

The Engineer was specifically modeled after the Ritualist, which is why I chose it as my “Main”. There are a ton more examples of course, but I’m sure you get the idea.

So to add a second Rit/Engy to the game I think would be redundant and lame. I’m not against adding a totally new profession to the game, but I would stick with our GW roots. The two professions that are missing from GW2 are Paragon and Dervish, and I suspect that Anet has been planning on adding them at some point all along.

Basically the two GW games have evolved all the other professions:

GW1/GW2
Mesmer/Mesmer
Warrior/Warrior
Ranger/Ranger
Monk/Guardian
Assassin/Thief
Necro/Necro
Elementalist/Elementalist
Ritualist/Engineer

Paragon/Missing
Dervish/Missing

A solution to this problem is to use the new “guesting” feature to complete the vista.

It was reported in Fort Aspenwood that the cattlepult is currently working in the “Sorrows Furnace” server. (update this is confirmed, Sorrows Furnace works fine) There are of course other servers that it works in as well.

Not working in Fort Aspenwood, Henge of Denravi, Aurora Glade, Kaineng and Dark Haven.

How to use the “Guesting” feature:
1) At the character selection screen choose character and click world selection in the bottom left corner of the character screen.
2) A world select tab/panel will open.
3) Select the world you would like to “guest” in.
4) Click “Guest” (not transfer) in the bottom right corner of the panel.
5) To return to your “Home Server”, simply log out and back in and do not select a world to guest in.

At least it’s an option to get your map completion done, until the bug has been corrected anyway. Hope this helps.

I don’t see how this could be classified as a “Bug”, it’s not that there are NO ectos being salvaged, but rather the “Drop Rate” of ectos is not to your satisfaction as well as the price of the item on the player market.

There is plenty of supply available with regard to ectos, at the time of this posting there are literally thousands for sale and by the admission of others, you are able to salvage additional units from rare items.

So the system must be working, and expensive or not, the supply is available to purchase as well as create through salvaging.

Just to clarify… The bug now is that the event won’t run, correct? The bug I fixed for the 1-28 update was to prevent the event from stalling while it was running. I just want to make sure this is a seperate issue so I can make sure I find the problem.

Well it’s both the event as well as the npc’s being stuck, let me explain…

Mad Mardine says that he has sent his assistant to Dawnright to get more cows, however his assistant is just walking around the cattlepult in a circle not getting cows, when speaking to the assistant he complains about shooting the cows at the harpies, however the harpy event isn’t starting and the npc’s are not speaking to each other, if that makes sense.

I hope that answers the question, I’ll monitor this page more closely for a quicker reply to any other questions.

I.E your daily resets based on when you finish it on a timer, if I complete my daily at 4pm, then until 4pm the next day it is on cool down. This would make it less of a pain in the kitten for people who aren’t able to play at the exact hours optimal for the current reset time,

I would hate that, I like that I can log in and finish my final daily stuff and then an hour or two later, get started on my next daily. I also know that it resets at 4pm server time everyday, so I find that deadline motivational to get it done before it expires.

New ways to acquire laurels

No, I like laurels as they are, but we do need more ways to obtain ascended items. Including crafting (jewelcrafting feels a lot less useful now) and WvW.

I totally agree, laurels will take time to obtain, and not everything in the game needs to cater to 24hr a day grinders that want it all now now now now. Play steady and consistent and you will get your laurels with time.

And crafting should be a useful and expensive alternative to obtaining items, it helps to prevent the game from being “Item Based” rather than “Skill Based”.

GW has always been about titles/skins/accomplishments where you obtain items to play the game, NOT play the game to obtain items, and there is a wealth of difference there. That is what sets GW apart from other games in its class.

Combo Killer

The combo killer has been removed from the weekly rotation, clearly not working as intended.

Perhaps I’m a few days late on my reply, but……..

Thank you for taking this out of rotation, the negative impacts were not just bug related for some of us, your response is appreciated.

I am still a huge advocate of beta testing these patches by the players that will be effected by them. Clearly there is a reason you won’t allow this to happen, but some of us would truly like to know what that reason is. Why is beta testing not being done?

hmm, don’t know what to think of it. i often play solo on virtually deserted maps

Monthly ones often need wvw or pvp or dungeon ones, I have accepted I will never do
those,

but that dailies were a nice thing to keep me coming back in a daily logins :-)

EXACTLY! Get rid of “Combo Killer” completely and show some respect to the base.

It is no secret that there is a HUGE portion of the 6+yr GW population that prefer to play solo. I don’t bother with monthly achievements because they always have fractals/dungeons in there and I don’t have time to find a team and sit in front of the computer for an hour or more at one time. Anet needs to stop trying to make people team that don’t find that type of gameplay “fun”, or are not able to engage in that type of gameplay due to real life time constraints.

Nobody is asking anybody to get rid of non-solo play, we’d just like to hold you on your word to keep content “solo friendly”.

Achievements should be based on your own personal character development. Why not add a tough daily “Solo Challenge” instead?

I am Guildleader locked out of all permissions except “Edit Rank”, Leader can create a new rank, but when attempting to delete a rank the following error is recieved

“Unable to complete the operation” (permission denied) (Code=49 : etc : etc)

Nobody can even change the “Message of the Day”, all options either unchecked or greyed out.

Officers can only use the “Admin Lower Rank” but we have no officers and can’t promote one.

Members only have “New Members Here”.

Able to represent/stand down with any character, no other abilities work. Would be nice to see a response to this issue. Thank you
