It doesn’t matter. I as a ranger keep 100% poison uptime. Party wasn’t full exo, but who cares.

The effigy boss is quite beatable, but you have to utilize everyone’s abilities properly. You don’t NEED specific builds, but applying poison at the right times really does help alot. Don’t start with poison, it’s a waste the first seconds. Read the abilities of every class if you’re leading a group and think of abilities that can really help. Be inventive, there’s a myriad of tactics you can do here.
Though he is broken, he does not necessarily need to be fixed. I like him this way and get him down nearly every time.
I keep 100% uptime poison on effigy. Didn’t help. How many people u send on crystals?

Yesterday. This thing was so annoying that I almost threw my new Naga into the window.

First time logged in. Got guild friends who weren’t in that dungeon before.
Did CoF (path #2) in less then 30 min.
Got 45 carvings & 19.5 silver. Teammate got 60 silver…

Note: we did it in 4 ppl. Thats the reason?
Conclusion: rewarding is definitely bugged atm. Good for those who are getting 60 tokens per each run.

The reality is that even if you’ve stacked toughness Bosses still 1-shot you in 95% of fights. This could be a lifesaver in PvP (indeed it is) but in PvE it’ll help only during trash fights in which you can be saved by your party members.
And if you propose “to stay sa far away as possible” then who’ll be “tanking” mobs. I’d say this “guide” is for Elementalist exclusively.
My advice to get at least one ‘stun breaker’, at least one ‘condition remover’ and other utility for damage. Also in every fight:
- watch your positioning (don’t rush ahead),
- time your dodge (look for aoe zones and heavy special attacks),
- always combine different utilities for every trash and boss.
You know there is a 50% chance of a typo in BLSK tooltip. I will give it a try and then post about the results.

As for an actual drop chance: I was constantly getting at least 1 ecto one week ago, then I started experiencing lower drop (actual 25%???). Now I get 3 ectos from salvaging 5 rares in better case. And very often these 3 ectos I am getting from single Rare. Note: I am using only Mystic salvage kits.
So until official explanation I would prefer to sell Rares for 20s+ on TP rather then salvaging them.

It’s called Duelist (name orange colored) and it’s randomly given through 100% exploration of 70+ zones. Check TP. You can buy full set there.

Ok you asked why is Dungeon armor considered prestige. Well it is prestige because of the sheer time investment and difficulty that it takes to obtain a full set. That is why when you see someone with a full set, you think “wow, that player looks awesome.”
Secondly, its the same as any exotic armor because Arena Net decided that GW2 character progression isn’t going to be based on grinding for +1 Stats. It is instead designed to cater for the casual player, so they have end-game armor which is easily obtainable by crafting (as you mentioned) or off the Trading post, they continue to play content that is added to the game with out having to grind.
You want 50-80 tokens per run? Well when you see someone with Dungeon Exotic armor, you are going to think “oh, he chose to wear that armor,” rather than “wow that armor looks awesome, which dungeon is that from.” So basically you are lowering the value of all the dungeon exotic armor. Dungeon exotic sets were designed for the more ‘hardcore’ gamer, to give them something to do and work for – so if you are a casual player complaining that its too hard to get the set, well its OPTIONAL.
I can’t really make any suggestions on the gold you get from dungeons but i think you can make a fair profit from continuously doing dungeons. it really depends up to the skill of the player and how much time that player has. (just like in real life, time is money).

Thats correct. But this fact never bothered me as I don’t care what other people think how my outfit looks like. Its all about my own satisfaction. So I don’t care about armor “openness” for wider masses in terms of time AND price.
You see we all have paid for that game already and we will do it again when new content comes out. Developers don’t care about our online as they already have our money. However they care about our interest in game and I must say there is no interest to grind 1600 tokens for any characters (not even considering another proffessions you’ll chose for your alts).

Your kidding me right? You want 50-80 tokens per run? This is level 80 PRESTIGE EXOTIC armor. How about they just make Anet give us a free set once we hit level 80 cause this is where its heading.
FIRSTLY. WHERE did you see prestige? SOME sets looks like UTTER kitten, but still the majority is good enough from design’s point of view.
SECONDLY. It’s same exotic armor as any crafted exotic piece, or traded on TP, or WvW rewarded ones. Nothing but an aesthetic change for your character.
Tokens.You know, people who cares about such thing as aesthetic in PvP game (like me, lol) won’t stop after getting single dungeon set or even two-three sets. They will continue collecting other sets and believe me it still will take a LOT of time. So high token rewards (like 50-80) are needed.
Another thing: gold. Should be increased too. Just look at tremendous prices for cultural T3 sets. I don’t want to farm them for ages considering that I want to get at least 4 (FOUR) cultural T3 sets. I dont have THAT MUCH time to spend in game you know?
And last thing: karma. Should be added to the end reward for completing the dungeon. This is a reference to also high enough prices for karma gear in Orr. It is a solution for those people who like doing dungeons, not DE.
You see people who don’t care about looks are already having fun playing WvW and sPvP at the time cost of zero whilst we (PvE noobs) have to grind for ages.

I have heard of rumours that crystals spawns are luck based, if you get lucky on the number and frequency of spawns you can win. That in itself is a major issue. Encounters should never be luck based, specially in a game that’s advertised as being skill based!
I guess you are right. I think this path wasn’t alphatested enough by Anet.
As a Ranger class we can provide poison via Poison trap with low CD, Poison valley from Shortbow/Sword+Dagger sets. This will be enough to keep 100% uptime of poison on boss. What ure ranger was doing meanwhile?
The only hard part of SE SM is Kudu’s fire golem (and it relates to melee classes). Stacking condition removers will help here.
Cant recall what else is HARD in SM… 1st champ is easy, then AoE lots of dredge after clearing mortars, survive Inquest ambush and… last boss is a cake walk.
2.5 hours? BTW I did it with guys who were lvling in relative location. We were all like 60-65. Please tell me exact moments where you feel this dungeon is very HARD.

My proposal is to make EACH explorable path accessible only ONCE per day. In additions all tokens should be unified and Item’s prices lowered.
Such change will force people to run through every path at least once (if they are focusing on specific armor). As a result we’ll get more people interested in exploring ALL dungeons instead of mindless grinding of the specific one.

I As I can see two major fixes for CoF are:
1. Now we have to clear up “magma field”, which include Champion imps + minions. Otherwise Magg will die. Due to event script or because of mobs killing him. Explain this part please.
2. Increased time on bomb planting before final event. So isn’t there only possible solution – kill mobs ASAP before they overnumber your party? Someday I was in a group of well geared people and managed to kill at least to “smoke” cats, 2 “silver” cats and all simple trash.
So for me its a simple change in rule: kill the champion Imp and nuke as many cats as you can whilst Magg plants his bomb. Simple? But in time measure yes – it will take extra 10 minuts per run.

No your survivability comes mostly from your regen healing.
Only if you have “1293 healing” or even more >.>
However I’ve never tried to stack healing and actually won’t as it doesn’t fit my playstyle. So to speak my survivability comes from dodging and traits/sigils affecting endurance.

So the “druidness” of such ranger is all about standing still Spirit of Nature (killable in seconds, coz not traited).
Also there are nothing new in such build – stack toughness’n’vitality I’ll say. That is it. Everything else is individual.
As far as I can see HP pool and melee factor are main reasons.
Ah I forgot to mention this TERRIBLE long animation of summoning. It’s so annoying considering the fact you have to re-summon 2+ spirits every 1 minute in best case ofcourse. The underwater animation is more faster and, well, it satisfies me.
to change the active skills so that instead of casting some lack luster spell, they would instead create a combo field for 3sec. This would make spirits more team viable which is something that rangers really need. Example, Storm Spirit would create a lightning field, Sun Spirit a fire field, Frost Spirit a ice field, and Stone Spirit perhaps a muddy terrain type of deal.
I like it much more than 1m useless 1in30s blind/ 1200 (!) shock dmg / muddy terrain or loltrap in random place.
I suggest replace these not-so-usefull abilities with combo fields for 3 sec each as stated above plus make the same CD (30 sec), but not SHARED.
HP pool should be increased twice, and a trait to double HP should not be removed. This will make spirits usefull in PvE.
At last I have to mention that a powerful nature spirits rangers are summoning who can’t walk is just nonsense. How it could be explained? It’s just not wise in terms of lore/mechanics/everything. Replace 3rd tier “walking” trait with one that increase radius of combo field.
This is madness! Ranger is an OBVIOUS pet class: the beast is a part of ranger himself in so many ways. Game offers a lot of other “lone wolf” rangers (i.e. warrior, rogues) where you can just shoot and switch between your guns for an eternity. You knew that and still picked a Ranger class. NOW you are complaining pfff…

I didn’t get it. You mean that full exploration of all three orrian locations will rise up your lvl to 65 (in best case)?
The Orr exploration begins with the Strands of Devastation (65-75) and lead you further through Malchor’s leap (75-80) to the final 80lvl Cursed shore. Arah doesn’t have anything to do with lvling really.
For you the wisest thing to do is to do nothing atm.
You’ve probably seen shrines devoted to human gods scattered across the Orrian shore. After gaining the victory at each shrine a vendor will appear with karma exotic armor. You can buy each piece for 52k. There are also cultural weapons for 82k.
Unlike Molten Cores, Lodestones are not crafting (not a regular ones at least) reagents so it is impossible to get them from mob (&chest?) drops. It is definitely very rare reagent and I am actually shocked by the number of requested Lodestones in the recipe oO
To create this one specific Lodestone you will need to combine 2 end-tier Molten cores, 1 Bottle of Elonian wine, 1 crystal and 1 tier6 Dust. Put these into mystic forge adn you will get 1 Lodestone.

Same on Far Shiverpeaks. Malchor Leap (75-80): 2 constantly bugged skill points and some defence/gather events with them. Same on Cursed Shore (80).
Same with Mithril Pick —> Mithril Ore.
Happens more often whilst in combat. I guess it is intended.
So as title says I am wondering does my pet’s condition damage increase by itself (or even more it could be a constant value for X lvl) or should I gather stuff with +Cond.dmg to improve it? Your observations are welcome.

I would also like to see the bone minion explosion skills changed to the minion running to your target and exploding instead of just exploding when you can’t locate it in a big battle. This may be a bug, because i remember seeing the necro class video before beta and the necro pointed to the target and the minions ran to it and exploded (this makes more sense).
Agree! I would like to see “minion running to your target and exploding instead of just exploding” feature too. I am ranger and my spirits often sadden me: it quite hard to navigate their movement, possible but still hard.
Speaking of Necro pets – i think they are fine. What else can you expect from mindless abomination? =)

Cultural armor’s prestige ends when you see yellow colored name. It is definitely not worth of 120g.
Despite my previous post removal am still waiting for the official explanation on such huge price rising NOT from the very release but after TWO weeks (also any hints on further price rebalancing are welcome).

Firstly, GS absolutely need Quickening zefir to be somewhat effective whilst LS seems OK with out it. Plus we have only 1 formidable dmg skill – Maul.
Second, yes GS is a nice utility skill but either is LS (actually LS providing us with more flexibility in form of different OH).

Don’t know if its by design or by bug.Leeching + Doom on both weapon sets, doom is not triggering ever.
Also tested with other sigils and the same, offhand sigil does not trigger.
First af all, you should know that sigils with similar mechanics override each other (the one on MH mostly), for example, 2 different sigils with “26 stack” mechanics do not work simultaneously (again only MH sigil works).
Imo it shouldn’t be that way. Could be another oversight. The only solution is to combine different mechanics (on swap, 26 stacks, on crit, on hit) or split between 2 sets.
It works for me.
Check if you/your pet have any bleeding attacks besides CO utility.
Were the swords of comparable level and dmg range?
Auron is right. Even with similar ilvl any 1H sword will beat 2Hander. I am very sad considering one of the best in-game animations for ranger 2H attacks =/
