ended up mixing it with

- and arah shoulders

How to handle staff guardians?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Qin.7325

Qin.7325

The answer is below.

GW2 has become such a toxic player base.

And you wonder why people are continually leaving this game….

ahh yes, the toxic player base
and the ever so common “it can’t possibly be my fault” mindset
along with the “nerf zerk/stack/skip cause ruins everything” thing

but then again, that’s why I (a random nobody, who likes to use zerk/meta and run speed clear dungeons) stopped wanting to play…

felt like the already vast legions of staff camping pro healer cleric/non-dps guardians and their alliances of other anti-efficient-dps players in dungeons continues to grow
(especially with the recent nerf to zerk which did nothing for non-zerks except lengthen their dungeon runs too)

and joining an experienced zerk only pug that can take down AC ghost eater in 1 trap or CoE destroyer in 1 bubble burst seems increasingly difficult/next to impossible to find (but when found, those guys are friended/chatted up/snuggled with love so fast the server suffers a lag spike)

maybe next major patch will fix some of these problems
(or we’ll get more TA Aether-like paths to ignore)

Disappointed with dyes, not doing it again

- I love the dyes,
- don’t got the gold or the time to farm gold,
- don’t have enough real money to gamble/convert
looks like I’m going to miss out

guess it would be too much to ask for the dye packs to just come with all of new dyes… (and to have them be account bound to avoid trade/profit/etc.)

Zerker build has ruined this game !

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Qin.7325

there’s bad zerk
there’s anti-zerk
and then there’s efficiently running zerk

the last one is hard to find…
makes running dungeons with limited play time very stressful

go ahead and remove extra critical damage, critical chance, power,
and condition damage from the game completely
they do nothing for the game but cause people to rage right?

Ellyna Graidy (NPC) is lame

in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

Posted by: Qin.7325

Qin.7325

If a person carelessly talks to/clicks through dialogue for Ellyna Graidy (NPC), they might lose 50 silver without knowing what happened and while 50 silver is nothing to some, it can be upsetting for those who are new to the game or barely play

Alternatively, if the person buys that “amazing crafting recipe” for only 5 gold
they will find out it cost 5 spiritwood planks, 30 crystalline dust and a bloodstone brick to craft which means if they do not buy spiritwood, it would take 5 days to craft
but hey, it can be used by guilds and other folks nearby for extra condition damage and +10 exp per kill so totally worth it right? or maybe it’s a complete rip off and this NPC is just another greedy insert bad word here

Sources
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tuning_Crystal_Station
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Ellyna_Graidy

Urmaug (Ogre Merchant in Lonars Pass) is another NPC (there’s 1 more I believe)
50 freaking silver for a 1 hour food buff
it’s bad enough having to waypoint/teleport all over the place to craft and use mystic forge, time gated ascended material crafting if not looking to buy off trade broker, the absurd amounts of materials needed for this and that, limitations of the halo/horn reward, insert additional randomly generated complaints here

Note: I am aware these items are optional, the buff is optional, players can easily pretend these NPCs do not exist, and anyone who had the misfortune of paying 50 silver for a lame food buff deserved it for whatever reason…
Guess that means I’m complaining just to complain

Design a Boss encounter contest!

Qin.7325

Boss: Hodgins

Lore: the scepters he found turned out to be cursed
made him insane
we need to put him down before he attacks the Black Citadel
(skip to boss mechanics at end if desired)
___________________________________________________
New AC path 1 version 2
Unlocked by completing Ascalon Catacombs Path 1 old version

This new version changes the fight sequence to…
- graveling burrows in place of spider queen followed by champion graveling after all burrows and gravelings are cleared, gravelings will now take damage from the fire traps on the stairs as well to promote “fairness” and no longer spam bleed like no tomorrow

- a champion troll now wonders the spike hall but for some reason is immune to the spikes and his projectile attack can now be reflected or destroyed with proper skills/spells to promote use of skilled gameplay

- kohler obviously reanimates cause of that ghost stuff and this time he (and his buddies) rush down the stairs to engage the players to promote this particular boss fight (but he trips over and falls on the way down, taking 20% of his overall health off by default and is perma-crippled)

- instead of the scepter pieces, players will investigate a trail of mysterious turkey feathers which leads to a room full of gravelings that come out of the shadows and swarm the players, objective replaced to survive for x minutes followed by a turkey falling down from the ceiling somewhere scaring the gravelings away

- players chase turkey around Ascalon Catacombs to find out where its going while avoiding flame and spike traps as well as rocks falling down from the ceiling eventually leading to that jumping puzzle hidden away in the Howling King’s room where the players stumble upon Hodgins, now corrupted with fiery eyes and stuff
He’ll say something like “I now have the means to destroy the Black Citadel and this foolish attempt at peace with the Charr” and “Muwhahaha cough cough ah too much smoke uh… hahahaha”
___________________________________________________
Boss mechanics
- Hodgins is immune to ranged attacks (because of his magical fiery shield thing) and will throw fireballs (which can be destroyed and blocked but not reflected) onto select platforms

- players whom do not have melee weapons will be accommodated with random ghostly melee weapons lying around the room somewhere with basic warrior skills on them (as an example) that can be picked up

- players that fall or get knocked off the platforms fall into the water below which is filled with ghost sharks but will be able to get back up through some staircase somewhere

- upon reaching Hodgins and landing a hit on him, he teleports to another platform
(repeat x amount of times until he dies)

- if the fight takes too long, Hodgins starts destroying the platforms and jumping on platforms himself to knock players off

NOTE! If players manage to knock Hodgins into the water (because he will be the only mob that can be knocked off elevated ground in the whole game), he gets eaten by ghost sharks and players get a bonus reward (let’s say a secret ending cinematic where the lost turkey is reunited with its family or maybe some extra silver)

Also note, for this boss fight, gear or level will not be required as all of Hodgins abilities are designed to knock players into the water below

Option 2, just have a corrupted Hodgins (give him some random elementalist skills and a big fat health bar) as a boss that randomly spawns in Plains of Ashford and upon defeating him drops a champion chest + some silver with a rare chance of dropping an offhand weapon which has the skin of the flame scepter he uses

Why are there no low level dungeons?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Qin.7325

Qin.7325

hoping for eventual open world mini private instances
example: instead of queensdale champ train/farm
have separate entry “stars” (like the ones used for personal story)

let’s say one outside the troll cave to fight the champion troll + grubs or something
limit: up to 5 players
level: depends on level of boss mob +/- 5 levels
(which means level 80s can’t join for the troll fight to encourage low level partying or something like that)

reward for daily competion: x silver and/or crafting materials? karma? exp?
(slightly more if less players, a reason to solo/duo/make it harder/etc.)
+ champion chest of course

for a harder challenge
let’s say open world guild instances
ex: claw of jormag
limit: up to 20 players
etc.

this way, if you want to run around with a bunch of random people and kill champions or camp dragontimers/gw2state/gw2stuff/other… all the time waiting to do those events, you can continue to do so
(it would still be a quicker and have greater rewards possibly)

or if you want to enter a private instance either by yourself or with a party/guild instead, then there will be that option too (yay for options right?)

alternatively or in addition to the above, just give us a 1-x player imitation or some kind of queens gauntlet if that’s easier (x being some number greater than 5 so we can do arena-like stuff with our guilds or more than 5 friends at once)
also have easy/hard modes based on time limit per encounter
(easy having no time limit)
and whatever else might be appealing
thanks

shortcut in mystic forge item linking

in Suggestions

Posted by: Qin.7325

Qin.7325

kind of like how we can right click items to sell to merchant

could we eventually get a shortcut key for throwing items into the mystic forge slots?

example: if i have 1,000 gold worth of rare greatswords I plan to dump into the forge to see whether or not I’d get a precursor

having to manually drag each greatsword into the forge slots is not only time consuming but torture and possibly a health hazard

right clicking an item to dump into a forge slot would make this process much quicker

and to continue, after the reward appears, have the enter key or something “confirm” so we can move on to dumping more sacrifical items into the forge

can we have the option to choose the default
human t3 cultural reskin that was just removed?

I’m really upset for not buying the default flamekissed armor before it was removed and am certain that I will not like the new version

another thing is instead of hastily removing newly released armor skins,
how about some warning next time like…
“Limited time armor skin sale that will end in the next 48 hours.
This armor skin will be replaced by a new version due to popular demand”

You are basically requesting to remove all mechanics that you ignored, no wonder you had such a hard time.

did not expect my post to turn out that way
no mechanics were ignored
some that I request for removal could be for an easy mode version if allowed

hard time was the result of inexperienced and mostly unskilled group
vs. new and challenging content

request made in hopes of an easier time for replayability if desired
if nothing changes, that’s fine because my group got it done and won’t need to ever do again

that and most gw1 weapons could be dyed, it’s a shame gw2 weapons can’t

Another feedback/suggestions thread

in Twilight Assault

Posted by: Qin.7325

Qin.7325

First attempt of Twilight Assault last night (completed)
Time (8:30pm – 1:30am)
I played as a mainly zerker guardian, ruby orbs, (2500 armor, no extra vitality unless from traits)
and with guild members on ventrilo with the help of guild chat and gw2dungeons.net guide in addition to dulfy guide

Team composition
- 2 guard
- engi/nec
- rang
- war
—-
If the goal of Twilight Assault was to be end game,
exclusive to: deserving dungeon master / liadri killer / 5min cof p1 clearer / fractal 48+ runner / related
Or
simply a dungeon that requires a somewhat steep learning curve
(ex: trial and error, time investment, practice, repetition, etc.)
and/or proficiency in direction following

I believe the developers did a great job
otherwise…

Note on average player skill of my group members
- have not been able to survive arah lupicus 100-0
(uncomfortable with arah in general)
- gave up on queen’s gauntlet before beating first tier boss (the light lady)
- lack of crit rate, crit damage, and effective use of damage/weapon/utility combos
in general (ex: range weapon when it’s safe to melee and ineffective “play style”)
- often inferior to random public dungeon groups
(struggle on AC gravelings and TA Vine boss, etc.)
Also Note I love those guys, we started gw2 together, I would run dungeons with them over speed clear or public groups any day
—-
Suggestions to make Twilight Assault more friendly to the “average player” of similar proficiency of gameplay knowledge and skills as mentioned above
(or to leave original dungeon as “normal mode” and have the below as “infant/easy mode” described below)

At Beginning
- reduce health of hounds

Ooze Escort (any if not all of these)
- make ooze allied so it can receive boons, heals, and not 1 shot unsuspecting party members when they have the ooze buff up (pheromone buff)
- increase respawn time of fire elementals by 2x and/or prevent them from killing ooze at ooze spawn point
- make ooze buff reset to full duration when spamming the flower and/or increase buff duration in general

Way to Slick and Spark
- reduce health of bosses
- reduce amount of oil and/or increase ooze rate/speed of oil consumption
- increase duration of ooze buff and to 1 player only before going to another,
not 2-3 players at a time

Way to Foreman Spur
- reduce health of Spur
- remove projectile reflect from windy area and/or axe spin
(unless point is to use non-projectile weapon, I used guardian sword the whole fight and was fine)

Electricity Puzzle
- remove negative charge (which means allow jump on pillars by “force”)

Freeing the Clockwork Oakheart
- reduce damage taken from exploding holograms to human players
(unless point is to not use full zerker gear which means I was doing it wrong /cries)

Clockwork Oakheart
- fine the way it is

Thanks for the new content
I can’t see myself going back in there unless it gets “easier” though
(it was optional content anyways so that’s not a problem)
surprised I was even determined enough to do it at all after hearing how long it took and unrewarding it felt for others with the exception of “first time clear”

Lastly… (somewhat off topic)
- make twilight assault skins an option when trading dungeon tokens for twilight arbor weapons (increase tokens needed if at all necessary)
or better yet, make weapons (in general) and have the option to be dyed (because twilight assault weapon skins are just a color change right?)

But wait… that would make super adventure box green and yellow weapons not as rewarding?
Make the handle or non-color effected area have the dye effect while leaving default blue, green, or yellow versions.

Play GW2 the way you want to.

If ascended gear (and infusions) could be obtained from

how great that would be…

my thoughts on the new dye pack

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Qin.7325

Qin.7325

I would spend so much real money on gems if I could buy specific dyes, armor skins, and weapon skins if they functioned like our zenith weapon skins (unlimited uses, account bound)

note, I use to love buying those costumes and weapon packs in gw1 too simply because of the “unlimited use”
I can keep 1, trash the other, and get it back anytime I want just like gw2 zenith weapons

but instead, I “force” myself to “grind/farm” to convert gold into gems instead and to complain and stress out over having to pay that xx amount of gold just for a one time use thing that is usually RNG based like the black lion chest stuff… or to completely ignore the sales because I don’t want to spend gold or pay real money for gems on limited or chance based stuff

so in a way, I guess I should thank Anet for helping me limit my spending with their current gem store practices

which means I’m not actually complaining as it might seem
because I’m thanking Anet without the use of sarcasm; seriously

Ascended vs Exotic (Math)

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Qin.7325

Qin.7325

I too questioned whether or not I would feel any form of consequence by
not replacing exotic with ascended

my end result in terms of power attribute only of berserker items (staff as weapon)
exotic: 687
vs.
ascended: 789

so around ~100 power difference
(at level 80 only, otherwise down scaled and stuff)

that said, in pve, it will/should not matter
no one will/should give a —-- if you are in ascended or exotic
unless your group is aiming to beat some timed record or something

point-
using food vs. not using food is like exotic vs. ascended
do you notice the difference when you use/don’t use food?
and/or
do you notice the difference when party member uses/does not use food?

example-
if exotic zerker war is using truffle steak (+100 power at lvl 80 as main idea),
he’s doing the “same” amount of damage (the idea anyway)
as full ascended zerker war without a truffle steak
and then we add in ping + proficiency + random number generators + whatever else…

and in terms of whether or not ascended will matter in wvwvw however…
i go back to the food example

pic for reference…

I miss gw1’s design where value is based on rarity of weapon/armor skin only
not overall amount of stats

- got the enter explorable message
- clicked it and nothing happened

I then approached the portal, it said enter explorable or replay story
and when I entered, i was in my own separate instance

tried logging off and on again, no change
had to waste 1 of 2 guest passes per day in order to join the group for dungeon

note, I had to guest to Northern Shiverpeaks if that matters
also note, another party member that joined after me had to do the same thing in order to get into the same instance

graphic settings to lowest

gear…
-full zerker armor, ruby orbs
-zerker accessories (exotic)
but, 2 knight earrings and temple of balth backpiece
(they would be zerker if I felt like spending the gold)
-zerker scepter and focus with generosity and either 5% damage or 5% crit
(forgot which but my crit rate is 45%)
-zerker gs with generosity (mainly used to pull shadows, wanted to use more on boss but was too afraid to)

utilities used
- save yourselves reserved for when endurance was low (grants vigor and swiftness)
- stand your ground and retreat (ended up using both to remove cripples)

traits
- mentioned by others already but has to do with shout durations, condition removals, heal on boons, retaliation when knocked down (this one was useless), faster recharge on gs

food buffs
- sharpen stones and whatever that triffle or steak is that grants endurance recharge

“cheat codes”
- rejuvenation buff, run speed buff, and those other buffs from free achievement rewards (or gem store if you don’t have it)

mentality we’ve all probably heard before
- toughness, vitality, and healing won’t save you if you get 1 shot anyways
(red circles)
and if you die from just the boss hitting you then that’s unfortunate
(when she’s spinning, don’t melee, range weapon if needed)

fight sequence went something like this
- scepter 2 on the pull orb to kill at the beginning
(since scepter 1 can’t hit the pull orb)
- lure shadows into first 2 white hole thingy

- gs pull shadow into 3rd white hole thingy
or kill pull orb and/or heal if needed
(which ever comes first)

- switch back to scepter focus for boss fight
- f1 every chance i got
- find relatively safe spot from red circles, dodge if needed
what was red before is kinda a safe zone next (keep that in mind)
- scepter 2 to kill pull orbs when they pop
- utilities to remove cripple
- renewed focus elite when unable to dodge or about to die
- win mini pet and flip out

- there are 2 jumps that can be done by forward button (w) to a point where you look like you’re going to fall to your death and then leap (while holding w) to the platform above (there are other ways to do it but i found this to be “safest” for some reason)

- best to attempt this in a group where people can revive each other and/or portal each other to avoid time wasted and maybe to be on ventrilo, ts, skype or something to hear each others cry/laugh/rage/such

- bring a mesmer with you if you attempt this or be a mesmer yourself for higher chance of success

ended up with only Berserker because PVT was no longer needed
(learned to avoid getting downed)

Stat pic sample (without food, fully buffed, gear not best in slot yet)

Usually have Mist Form equipped (even after nerf)
