if the defending server has 50% less people than the attacking server then raise the guards durability (defense, power) so you need 2-3 ppl to get the camp

during off peak it would be sth like

> force solo/small group players to group, making them able to wipe these few ppl trying to defend/recap
> call it balancing differences in population

also
remember there are 2 attacking servers
defending – 20ppl
attacking1 – 50
attacking2 – 10

so attacking2 is facing tougher structures/lords even if defending server outnumbers them twice

but it doesnt explain why the game favors one team. what’s the problem of doing soloQ vs soloQ and group vs group? ik.. “queues would be sooo long” but its not a reason to punish soloQ players for other’s choice to go as a group

Being baseline stances on the different dodges I feel would be too strong. Considering the first minor gives you free dodge right off the bat is pretty strong as it is. […] But being ablet to swap them mid-combat is just a no no. You shouldn’t be rewarded for every type of dodge and then gain bonus new grand master traits.

Once you pick a type of dodge you should be limited to that one. Each of the dodges are pretty darn strong having access to all 3 at any given time should present the same problem as to why Reaper can not use Death shroud and Reapershroud at any given time when you take the reaper trait line.

i cant agree with you. this “free dodge” is not strong. it gives advantage only at the beginning of fight, when you have 3 dodges and enemy 2, but when you use your “free dodge” your endurance is regenerating with same speed as your enemy’s endurance. base endu regen is 5/s, endu on steal is 50 (IF it hit something) so 2,5/s with trickery Sleight of Hands (exactly same as vigor) or 1,7 without trickery. staff master gives 2 endu per initiative spent. with 1 ini per sec (base regen) its 2/s so max we can get from only DD trait line is 3,7 endu per second, or 4,5/s with tric SoH (which is max and depends on hitting with steal), BUT dodge is DD’s mechancs, isnt it? So lets compare it with other class:
Ele with arcana is my main argument. ele get perma vigor from adept what’s 2,5/s. AND his gm give him all 4 effects on dodge he can get and he can chose which one he want to use by switching attunements. yes, i know every effect have a cd and its not that simple and freely with effect choice, but… its not their mechanics.

other thing is “Reaper can not use Death shroud and Reapershroud at any given time when you take the reaper trait line”. Its true, but reaper gets ALL his mechanics when he chose reaper trait line. DD have to take a gm trait to get… i wanted to say “same” but DD is losing all it’s “new mechanics” after 20-30s of fight and reaper still have his new shroud skills.

imo current DD gm’s shoud go baseline and should be same as reve legends choice slot. it would be exactly same but with dodges. 2 slots (it would be enough if Lotus Training become a leap. i think no one will complain about it. condis would have leap with condis and power builds leap with dmg.) with 1 button to switch between them with X seconds cd.

last thing: i want to compare 2 traits (info from http://en.gw2skills.net)

  • Bounding Dodger; dmg with 1000 power: 465; number of targets: 5; radius: 180; Leap
  • Reckless Dodge; dmg with 1000 power: 332; number of targets: 5; radius: 180;

i dont think adding 40% dmg (332*1,4=464,8) and a leap combo finisher can be called “new mechanics” and justify moving it from minor to gm.. its even harder to hit with bd than with rd because of its’s animation.

Edit: with Brawler’s Tenacity, 5 physical skills spammed as soon as they refresh DD can get theoretically additional 8 endu per sec including healing regen which doesnt work as description says because give only 1,5 dodge. 25% per pulse in description relate to normal max endu, but as DD’s max endu is 150 it should regen 112 endu, so 37 more than it does now. with fix it would be 2,31 more than now.

conclusion: DD line can give 11,7 additional endu per second, but its only theoretical and means he would need to spam every skill as soon as it lose it’s cd no matter if it does or not have any sense e.g. bandit’s defence or impact strike in situation when full melee warrior is 1500 units away, same with initiative. if its on max, endu per second is dropping
current acro+agi signet have almost same potential (a bit over 10/s) but include “hey! cc me pls! i need it to get endu QQ” hard to catch which potential is 3,3/s

well… engi and rangers also have access to stealth. in wvw there are trapper runes that give even more access to stealth to rangers, and in future to dragon hunters. can you explain me why engi and ranger are not meta pls? their stealth is making them invisible.. same as thief’s and mesmer’s stealth!

and please explain me how stealth can ruin burst. if thief decide to attack he need to become visible, then you can burst him. if he’s in stealth:

  • in spvp its good for you because you can cap point, or if you defend he cant decap.
  • in wvw if he’s regenerating in stealth your defensive skills are losing their cd slowly without any need to pop them

I’m playing bs thief and i usually start a fight with cc(venom or traited steal) and mesmer’s cc return trait or necro’s fear on incoming cc ruin my burst. you see? stealth burst also can be ruined! are you going to cry about these 2 traits? why not?

“why 5 ele lose but 4ele1dp is win?” i think thief’s mobility, so ability to make fast decaps/caps can be the reason. also thanks to mobility thief (dp in this case) can join any fight really fast and make some nasty dmg with bs-hs combo

“boy, play pvp and use your kitten brain” i do, both, but if i meet a warr popping berserker stance, ep and rampage at the beginning of fight and then complaining about stealth cuz i used sr and killed him when all buffs gone leaving him with all def skills on cd i’m losing my faith in some ppl’s brain existence. stealth is not pure defensive nor ofenve. it is a tactical thing. e.g. ranger’s lb stealth should be used to repositioning, mesmers use… were using stealth to confuse enemy. for thief its whole class mechanics. we use it to get better position, plan next attack, wait until enemy’s def skills gone (they are still doing their’s job if thief dont attack) as thief dont have any of them. imo thief shoud feel a bit safer in stealth. baseline regen or condi removal can make us feel so.

ok. now serious part of my post:
stealth… yes it is kinda op. it allows us to move among enemies without their knowledge about our position.

stealth is our mechanics, its hard to stay alive without using stealth (especially after 23.06 patch) cuz we dont have any true active defence. Now many classes/specs are getting or already have skills and traits that apply revealed what breaks our mechanics and whole trait line. if bs is my main dmg source but other classes can simply make me unable to use it, its not counterplay. its breaking mechanics. its like increasing ele’s atunement swap cd to 1 min, reducing ranger’s lb range to 1, revenant’s energy beeing stuck at 0 for 10s or “your block skills and aegis no longer block attacks” you know which class it is ^^ . would it be ok? of course not! so why on thief it is ok?

i’d willingly see SRej going baseline and beeing replaced by “no longer afftected by revealed” thingy and giving stealth skills a 3s cd after successfully landing on enemy. we cant use them more frequently anyway. the only problem can be cd on auto attack :P we’d need a 3rd slot on class bar, but anet already have it implemented for warr’s spec’s burst skills. for thieves it would require stealth instead of adrenaline and max would be 1, not 10 (or stealth can be counted as 10).

Overview: good ideas, you made an interesting spec, but it needs some improvements. e.g thief used to be a flexible fast cast class but staff is kinda stiff and slow.

First of all: graphics! These 2 lines looks like they are made in Paint. Left one is a bit skew and shorter than right line <punches devs> ;D

1. Staff

1 is good. i love the reflect on 3rd use and hope its intended

2 is strong. seriously. but only if enemy doesnt move. I can make 6k dmg with it on golems in hotm. its like spammable backstab (from behind ofc. it’s coefficient is pretty high. something between 2,35-2,39 i guess). But! This skill needs one change
please allow us to break it’s animation with dodge (even spamming Esc does nothing). it have 1/2s cast but it dont allow me to dodge for whole 1s.

  • really good job btw! it attacks forward, character doesnt rotate automatically to hit target. That makes possible for this skill to have high dmg and not beeing spammable like heartseeker. thank you! easy and smart solution

3 i saw some ppl asking for more range… imo 400 is perfect and i’m 98% sure you make it 400 to allow us to do 3->2 combo

4 … this skill is just bad. too long cast for so little dmg or too long cast for not-so-good blind. my proposition: make dmg 3 times lower (or remove dmg part of this skill) and make it 1/4s or insta cast.

5 is an awesome opener but please, speed up animation (especially last part of it) and make whole animation 0,5-0,75s. i feel naked during this animation. I cant break it, i cant dodge. 1s of free dmg on me. didnt test it yet but i think it can be interrupted with melee skill (130 range, e.g. warr’s mace 3, hammer 4) Other thing: mid air immob is not fun…

2. Healing

As mentioned earlier this skill punishes us for playing spec as intended (using dodges) and also its channeling so any interrupt (its not hard to interrupt 2,25s channel skill especially with this obvious animation) what means 100% cd rather than 5s like interrupted normal cast. it’s not so safe to take this skill in wvw.

3. Utility

Fist Flurry: there is a good proposition in last post on 1st page, for now its just meh..

Impairing Daggers: is the solution for staff 5 long cast, but its initiative cost is weird. its the only utility that use inititive and thats not even mentioned in skill’s description. is it a bug? it ruins my combo ;_;

Distracting Daggers: make it unblockable, 1 use, without preparation. maybe with a bit higher cd like 30-35s. Or give it infinite dura because for now its just waste of slot.

Bandit’s Defense: i love this skill <3

4. Elite

good job, its awesome! really powerful but also its not hard to counter it. high risk, high reward (kill with bypassed downed state) The only change it need is slightly increased 2nd use range.

5. Traits

Driven Fortitude looks weak, but maybe its just my lack of skill >.<

GM’s should be baseline and Bound shouldnt root character at the end of animation not in mid-air

Edit: after few h of more testing i need to write few more thoughts

Staff sucks in wvw. It have no utility. 0 stealth, kinda useless blind (really long cast [i can blind target’s next attack, not this already coming. but if i see e.g evis i need to dodge anyway] easily dodgeable, low range and cost a lot). Ddevil should be based on evades but even sword/dagger ranger have more evades than ddevil’s staff ;_; Animations are way too long especially on #5 this skill need an evade (same as you gave it to rev sword 3) and shorter animation( because it’s really hard to hit with it on max range. even earthshaker have 3/4s cast with same range but hammer used to be slow hitting weapon). as i mentioned above i’m naked during this cast. can be cc’d can get bombed.. everything my enemy want to do and everything that evasive ddevil should allow me to avoid. There is another problem: staff dont give any mobility. if i meet a lb ranger staff give me nothing to kill him. (reflect on #1 is good idea but as long as i have to hit with whole chain to proc it its useless because projectiles are fired from range, my reflect needs melee and staff in any way doesnt allow me to stay close to my target.

i started playing mes after patch i was (am >.<) dying a lot, i’m also fighting against mesmers and they are dying too so trust me, you are able to hit mes.
Mind Wrack have 12 or 10,5s cd and you need 1 dodge to avoid whole burst. try to count mesmer’s cd so you can expect his f1
you can aslo use some immob and then bomb…
or maybe one of your many aoes?
in shroud you have 2-3-1-5- combo

Necro F2: reveal all enemies in 1200 range for 6s, insta cast/no cd +require at least 50% life force to use and drain all your life force upon activation, prevent you from gaining life force and also disable all your traits for 6s.

do you like it?

every class have its own mechanics. if you’re not able to kill invis(20k hp mes/15k hp thief) as 40k hp, 6k++ AA you should l2p or change your class or build instead of asking to break other classes mechanics. its just ridiculous.

their worry is that by allowing us to salvage WvW armor, it would disrupt the economy, not sure how

wvw>armor/weaps cost gold what means that there is less gold in game when somebody buy it.

pve>ac>2g *3 per account per day +some tokens (enough for exo part). But its not normal 2g. its NEW gold that increase total amout of coins in whole game. weaps/armor cost ONLY tokens, can be salvaged for mats/runes

and… srsly you can buy more exo after 1day in pve than after 1day in wvw and i dont even count that pve have better drop rate

THAT is what is disrupting the economy
making wvw gear not salvageable is just one of many anet’s ways to say “if you’re not pve you’re kitten”

as you can see i didnt use any hacks/exploit. for me its sth like easter egg as i cant do anything except ‘scouting’ or beeing killed. it doesnt give me any advantage also: everyonce can do it (you just gotta jump) and i dont think there is any other reason to place legendary defenders inside except killing guests, so anet know its possible to get inside. and the last thing: these spots were reported many times as bugs. anet didnt do anything so…

after this patch skills like endure pain, signet of stone and berserker stance are so broken. it gives too much advantage imo.

Mesmers only have 4 skills with Stealth:
- The Prestige – 30CD, 6 seconds stealth if traited.
- Decoy – 40CD, 6 seconds stealth if traited.
- Veil – 90CD, 4 seconds stealth if traited.
- Mass Invisibility – 90CD, 10 seconds stealth if traited.

thats 12s self stealth +14s self and 9 allies
with Mimic: Updated functionality of this skill. This skill now causes the next utility slot skill you use within 10 seconds to recharge in 1 second. Increased recharge to 90 seconds.
it can be even more (6/10s depends on that if elite also counts as “utility” >.< )

Next to that thieves have:

- Cloak and Dagger = 4 seconds when traited on no cooldown
- Shadow Refuge = around 12~16 seconds if I am not wrong? 60 seconds cooldown
- Dagger/Pistol Combo = 9 seconds of stealth
- Blinding powder – 4seconds when traited + 3 if used in Smoke field – 40 seconds cooldown

At first i want to say: i count only passive ini regen.

looks you forgot about that initiative regen is not 1kk per sec, but 1 per 1.6s so CnD cost 6×1.6=9,6s “cd” 4s traited. blind/block/dodge means thief lose 6 ini and get nothing

d/p combo: 6 +3 for ea hs. 14,4s “cd” if 1 hs, 24s “cd” if 3 hs. Can be easily countered by running/porting to thief’s smoke field.

SR… good knockback/fear means no stealth and 60s cd and there will be a lot of skills in HoT that counter SR

BP 3/4s stealth on demand

as you can see thief have only 1 stealth that can’t be countered, mes have 3 (Decoy, the pristige. Both with no cast and Veil with 1/4s cast.. its more luck than skill to cc when mes is casting). Easy to counter MI (almost 2s cast and its telegraphed animation) after changes can be a “gimme revealed and 90s cd plsss” or a skill much stronger than SR(long stealth [almost same as SR] that doesnt require to stay for 4s in small circle). depends on enemy.

What:/Why: remove noobs (or newbies?) spending more time crying on forum than learning how to deal with thief. Why do you play gw2 if you dont like this game (maybe only pvp/wvw) and you dont want to learn it (by that i mean your class and also other classes, their mechanics etc etc)

1. Because it’s annoying that I can’t roll a thief and not play it the way i want. ie not with Stealth. On any thief build there are as many as I dunno 10 ways of getting into stealth a few of them spammable (yes im looking at you Blackpowder heartseeker). Therefore to balance stealth either we need more reveals or less ways to get into stealth. BTW Revelas are 6s long. I believe that stealth should be something that only becomes super OP when you have to trait heavily into it while sacrificing other things like dmg or surviveabilty. Currently you can trait like 4 deep and have stealth reset fights for you. I dont think this is fair. Now im just waiting for people to tell me to L2P. bows Thank you!

2nd bold as i know if 2 ppl are fighting and 1 of them get ooc, the second one get ooc as well in the same time unless one of them have a condition. So if you have a brainless build without condi remove its only your fault! Moreover thief’s regen in stealth is about 360 per sec, same as warr’s signet. Nothing too op. Dunno where did you found information about “full HP and All CD’s” link me it pls. Cooldowns on thief while ooc are ongoing as fast as for every class in gw2. 1s cd per 1s real time (lol. ridiculous! it should take 2s real time per 1s cd!)

Basic regen ooc is same for all classes and equals 1k per sec if i’m correct.

And now about reveal… The best proof for that ppl are ******(kitten!!!) thief in stealth still can be hit by your spells. just use chain melee skills so you will see when you hit him and when you dont (yes! chains rotation works even if target is not visible! and if you dont have any melee chain’s its also not thief’s fault.) Tbh every melee is good, it dont must be chain. The only advantage of chain’s is that you see if you hit someone or you dont.

Last thing:
1. Smoke+blast 2. Smoke+leap 3. Blinding powder 4. SR 5. Hide in SHadows
6. F1 from thief or certain mobs 7. <trait> while reviving ally 8. <trait> from Steal
9. CnD 10. <trait> Last Refuge, but it usually kill the thief, not help him since thief cant control it, so usually LR ends on 3s reve instead of 3/4s stealth.
So yep, you’re right. 10 ways to get stealth but usual thief have access to max 6-7 of them.
S/P and P/P have only smoke +blast from weapon skill’s stealth that is easy to counter… if you know how.

And the very last thing : every class have def abilities. thief’s def is his possibility to control area and time of fight. we dont have any stability (ok, 1 elite with 90s cd and we have to break skill animation if we want to eg stomp). we dont have mist forms, we dont have boon spams, we dont have block’s, we dont have 0dmg signets/stances, we dont have 2 hp bars, we cant easy make 3 clones and hide behind them and finally we cant heal 10%-100% in 1s while still keeping pressure on enemy.
Pls remember about that and start watching twitch, yt or pvp arenas in-game (as spectator), change your build to match it to your playstyle instead of crying “because i dont know what to do”.

Its not only cnd... "lemme hs to this mob and cnd on it" *LR during hs animation* gg suicide... I thought traits should be an advantage for ME, not my ENEMY!!! I cant always monitor my hp and i think if i have to focus more on my hp("its close to 25%. should i wait or i can keep dpsing?", "hey enemy! hit me pls! i’m here doing nothing waiting for LR!") than on dpsing its something wrong. and no, not with me.
