all you have to do is do as i did.. (mind you this was 10 months ago and i SHOULD have at the least, logged in to unlock the last 3 ls mission, but yeah)

I logged in for the first time in 10 months.. yesterday. I’ve been playing Elder Scrolls: Online.

I was standing in L.A. 100% confused and loved it. I have a bag full of halloween stuff lmao

I may not be the best one to answer this but I will try to help either way. I just hit 80 before the weekend on my Mesmer and I’m not rocking a full set of 80 rares or exotics yet… I have a condition / shatter build and i’ll get onto that later or let someone else better explain lol… I’m the opposite of you when it comes to casters tho. I always try to go for the “mage” first but this time, even tho the mesmer is “cloth”, it’s not a pure caster class like the ele.

1. I’ve noticed the same thing now that I have a few classes above 30. Some classes take time to build some power up, others are mechanics. The mesmer class, from my experience leveling is a mechanics kind of class. The staff and Greatsword are an awesome leveling combination. Just remember with the staff tho, you don’t want to be “max” range. You want to stay close enough to get the bounces. The mh sword + whatever is melee range and not too fun in PvE, it has it’s uses tho.. well, all weapons do. When I do use it in PvE content, I use it for “hit and run” tactics lol. Yes, that’s the right path. Get some gear with +power on it until you feel comfortable with the rest of what you asked, then go for a more condition oriented build.

2. Okay. Here’s the thing with Mesmers… We have Clones and Phantasms(illusions). They work slightly different and some are broken lol. Swap to your staff and push #2, thats a clone and does 0 damage. like an oh kitten button. now push #3, thats a phantasm and does some damage. The thing with #3 is that it does more damage if you have a condition build and you let the conditions build up a tad first. with the way I have my build set up, i use a scepter (ya i know, it’s garbage but…) + pistol and swap with a staff. reason for the scepter is that #3 is confusion and #1 is an extra clone on the 3rd hit, #2 is a block and a clone if you wait it out >_<, added with a pistol for the #4 phantasm duelist (decent damage) and #5 being a stun/blind/daze that bounces. Ive been able to solo champs up to 70 with my crap gear/build.

3. I use ether feast and havent really used anything else lol.

4. As I leveled with a “shatter” build so to speak, I love having clones and illusions out as much as possible. Decoy and or Mirror Images are pretty much a must. One of those is ALWAYS in one of those utility slots. Since you brought up condition farther down in your post, I’ll recommend using Signet of Domination (+condition damage). Feedback is awesome as well but only works on projectiles and signet of illusions (recharge shatter skills) is nice later on too. Portal is portal and well, its portals lol.

5. I’m not a “buffer” but i’m condition / shatter i guess. I use 0/20/20/0/30. Phantasmal fury and Deceptive Evasion. Debilitating Dissipation and Chaotic Dampening (sometimes Bountiful Interruption). I switch between Confusing Cry and Compounding Power, also use Illusionary Elasticity and Illusionary Persona. Staff is a must with condition builds. my swap goes to the scepter + pistol mostly to keep the range, the pistol phantasm and the extra clone.

Takes a little while to get the play style of the mesmer down and to figure out your play style with the class. The mesmer is probably my favorite class tho =)

Im all for having one of every race. Sadly tho, with how much i enjoy the sylvari they’re going to be the 4th or 5th i level. Charr was suppose to be 5th but i made him a thief and well, thats a fun class to balance out my mesmer and ele lol. I could always pay some money to “fix it”.. anyways as i trail off….

sylvari name is iiri ventari. iiri being a play on eerie and ventari being homage to gw1. place holder name atm. i did have a ranger in the 20’s then an eng to the teens and now she’s a warrior. shes so confused >_< lol

Olaf Sifhalla on my norn (gw1 players should be able to get both references)
Ikotag on my charr (couldn’t come up with a decent last name, and now that he’s in the 40’s, he’s not getting one lol)
Ralistu on my asura (no last name needed with that race)
iiri ventari on my sylvari (iiri being a play on eerie and ventari being gw1 again).

Ikotag, Ralistu and Shonek have been names used for years and years in gaming by me =)

I’d rather see the engies have more weapons…

I’m only level 55 on my Mesmer but…
Staff and GS is a really good combo to use until you start getting different gear and find out your play style with the class. I say that not to distract you from that combo but because of the differences between the 2 weapons.

Staff = Condition / Shatter builds – My current pve stats are geared for this (i use scepter and focus for the weapon swap)
GS = Power builds – (i use sword / pistol for the weapon swap)

I’m crazy tho and scepter isn’t the best weapon out there but when you open up with a staff and let the condidtions build up, pop your phantasms, wait, shatter and switch. The Scepter is a great back up with the “clucky” dodge (clone at the end), the chain on 1 gives a clone and the off hand gives a 3s stealth (you “explode” coming out of it) and and phantasm.. its a great pve leveling combo with lots of phantasms and clones. Champions are now solo-able (takes FOREVER mind you) for me now after level 45ish.

But at the end of the day, it’s whatever (combo) you find the most fun. If you haven’t tried Sword/pistol with your GS, may i suggest that you do =) (sword/sword is good too, but personally i find the pistol offhand a tad better)

During the beta events and into the first full month of release, Mesmers wern’t all that popular… so to speak. there was a ton of ele’s, war’s and thieves running around.. Now a days.. the popularity has shifted.

weapons make a big deal with dying. My mes is into the 50’s and the first 20 levels we’re horrid. I found that a condition build works wonders. Staff and scepter / pistol are my 2 most used weapon combos. Takes a tad longer then most classes to kill things, but when you’re kill 3 things at once and kiting, or fighting vet’s (kiting) it works itself out in the end. If you want a more power focused build.. greatswords are amazing =)

I have both a ranger and a thief as alts. the ranger is level 24 the thief is 36. I wanted to try out both and while I like running around collecting the many pets the rangers have access to, I have more fun with the thief as d/d and p/p. Not saying the ranger isnt fun, axe/warhorn is a good combo with either the greatsword or either of the bows (short being a tad better).

I kind of regret making my thief a charr and my ranger a sylvari but the ranger “fit” better into the nature of the race. I had a sylvari thief in the last beta weekend and felt they fit the thief playstyle as well as looking decent.
I’d pay Anet a couple of bucks for a race change =P as i would like to try out either a necro (could fit with the sylvari) or an Eng (would fit with charr).

any higher ups out there?

day 2 of being unable to play and validate my email that linked to this site/GW2 and GW1 through NCsoft. Which is the email you guys sent my beta invite and sign up too lol.

ya im in the same boat. Arenanet is awesome and by no means am im leaving this game just because of a little hiccup. they’re are an awesome company that puts the customer and fun first and they have molded the MMO community into bigger and better things.

I fully understand how overwhelmed they are with all the account hacks and what not going on that this is probably on the back burner lol.

After today’s patch, I tried to log in as normal. Auto-play is never click on. I’ve been able to log in since release (and betas) with my current email and log in name which is @ncsoft.. My GW1 and GW2 accounts use the same name and are linked through my email address and name.

I log into the GW2 launcher and trying to validate my email but it says its already in use and the play button stays grey even if I don’t try to validate link normal. I kind of assumed since my email and account were linked that in a matter of time it would accept that my email is in use.

That launcher says… “Please note: this will also change the account name you use to log into both GW1 and GW2.”

Why would i want to do that? I’ve received a ton of the normal emails you guys send with buying stuff for GW1 through the online store and password changes.

I have the same issue with the play button today. When I try the email verification it says my email is being use… well of course it is, it’s being used by me lol

oh, and auto-play is never clicked on for me.

I get the greyed out play button as well but it lets me log in still. is it a maintenance thing cuz I see no word of that anywhere

my download worked fine…. The play button on the other hand stays greyed out, but i can still log in lol.
