Does anyone know what the fastest way to level is? I’m trying to change the race of one of my characters.
I’ve been having a hard time picking a main, so what class do you guys think would compliment a warrior well? (My friend is playing warrior). I’ve been mostly trying to decide between revenant and guardian.
Hey guys! I’ve been having a hard time deciding whether to play revenant or guardian. Could someone please tell me the basic playstyle, damage output, survivability, solo and team viability, and utility each class offers? Thanks!
Thank you all for the help! I’m going to test around with different races in the mists and see how I feel! (And maybe try out warrior…)
4-2-4 is meta for most bosses.
So the 4s would be PS Warrior / Druid / DPS / DPS
the 2 would be Chrono and Rev
Awesome, thanks a lot! Do you also happen to know what dps professions are in the meta right now?
Are the new legendaries harder to get than the old ones? Sorry, I’m not 100% sure about how crafting legendaries works after HoT release.
Depends on how much you value the birthday gifts. In some cases, it might just be better to get a character slot. What are you using in your other character slots?
I suppose I could just use a different slot. Although when I got the sylvari to 80, I’d probably delete the norn. Would I lose anything important?
What would the ideal raid party look like?
I have a norn guardian who I’ve played for three years now, but I’ve always wanted him to be sylvari. Is it worth restarting to change my race? What will I lose if I do?
Which class do you think is best for going through the HoT content?
Proffession by race:
Asura: Elementalist
Charr: Warrior, engineer, or thief
Sylvari: Ranger or necro
Human: Guardian, warrior, thief (mostly any prof)
Norn: ranger, warrior, guardian
Race by proffesion:
Ele: Asura
Warrior: Charr
Guardian: Human or norn, but works pretty well with all of them
Engineer: charr or asura
Ranger: Sylvari or norn
Necro: Sylvari
Theif: Human or charr
Mesmer: Human(?) (asura/sylvari could work too)
Revenant: I have no idea, maybe sylvari or human (possibly charr because of rytlock)
Hey everybody! I love gw2 so much, but I’ve never been able to pick a main. I know I’m a little late for the heart of thorns hype, but I’m going to get into it. The classes I’m looking at are either guardian, warrior, revanent, or necro (for reaper). I love classes with a big heavy hitting feel to them. I’m not necessarily looking for the highest dps, but I like a respectable amount of damage and survivability, (I mainly do solo play, but have nothing against playing in groups). So I was just wondering which one you guys thought would fit this description, be the most fun, and make the most sense in the story.
Thanks!
Hey, I completely understand your struggle, as I am in basically the same position. I started with a dragon hunter, then went to ele, then to rev. They are all level 80 now, but I’m having a hard time picking a main. The two classes I would suggest giving a try would be warrior and necro. The warrior is an overall satisfying and vey good class, and the new berserker spec makes it even more enjoyable. The new reaper spec for necros looks awesome and I heard isn’t too bad either (damage and survivability wise at least, I’ve heard they don’t have much to offer in support).
Both classes can use greatswords too!
Hope this helps
Are there things you like or dislike? “Only ranged” or “always melee” or whatever?
I play them all. My favorites are Guardian, Thief, Ranger. Least favorites Mesmer, Revenant. The others fall in between. I switch around a lot (I have 36 toons on 5 accounts) so never really get bored with one character. I think if I only did play my guardian, I would get bored, that’s the way I’ve always been in games that offer lots of character and/or party dynamics.
PvP you can play anytime. Auto-level 80 and max gear, so try it as you please. Make a toon, switch to PvP, try it out, delete, try another profession.
Otherwise, use those empty character slots to try out different professions. Do you have HoT? Use the insta-80 to try them out.
Our opinions don’t really amount to much, only your own.
That’s true. I have tried out all of the classes multiple times before, and now that HoT’s out, it makes it even harder for me to pick. I already have 3 level 80s, but I want to pick a class to main.
I tend to like melee heavy hitter direct damage classes, possibly with a little bit of survivability (I know it’s a bit contradictory) and a little support on the side.
Some questions that may help narrow it down for you…
Do you prefer to be melee, ranged, or both?
Do you enjoy dodging and moving alot, or being a caster type, or having a pet(s), or being a group support type, or a solo character?
Do you like direct damage or condition damage?
All classes can do everything but some are better than others depending on what you want to do. just trying to narrow it down.
I tend to like both ranged and melee, but if I have to pick one, probably melee
In this game I like to either be the tank or dps(preferrably dps heavy hitter type), and offer a little support on the side.
I prefer direct damage over condition
Hey everybody! I’m having a hard time picking a main, so I just wanted to hear everyone’s opinions on their classes. I’m mainly looking at pve and will probably dabble in pvp. Thanks!!!
Note: I know there is no “best class”, I just want to see what you guys think.
Hey everybody! I’m a long time gw2 vet who has just returned from a long break. I stopped playing basically right when HoT came out (a little ironic), and I really need help to 1)know what’s going on and 2) pick a class to play/main (I’ve always been very indecisive on classes)
1) If anybody wouldn’t mind just outlining a few basic changes that have ocurred, it would help me greatly to jump back into the game
2) I tend to have lots of trouble settling on a class. I’ve managed to get a guardian and an ele to level 80. I now have a lvl 80 booster, and am trying to decide which class to boost/main. I’ve always loved my guard, but sometimes I really want to change his race, so I COULD use a booster to do that, but I feel like it would be a waste. I’ve been looking into the new class specializations and this is what it’s come down to: Theif/Daredevil: does plenty of damage and gives a really cool new feel to the theif, Warrior/Berserker: warrior has always been fun and viable, and now u can go flippin crazy in berserk mode and it’s hilariously fun, Necro/Reaper: necros tend to get trash talked so I’m not sure were they are in the meta at the moment, but reaper looks bada** and seems incredibly awesome, Guard/DH: I love my guard, but apparentally they aren’t doing too well right now (?), and lastly Rev/herald: I’ve heard rev is very fun and viable, and they look incredibly fun.
Some basic notes: -I tend to like melee heavy hitting classes better, but it doesn’t matter too much to me, aoe is favorable, I tend to like to have a little bit of survivability, and a little more of an active playstyle is preferred, like to give a little bit to the group
Thank you so much to anyone who reads through this entire thing and offers any help!!!
