Are you talking about the break bar? (The blue bar under the enemy’s red hp bar)

If so, its easy to explain. Think of it like an “hp bar for crowd control efects”. When it runs out, the enemy gets stunned/dazed. Anything that would be considered CC (light or heavy) will chip away at it. The harder the CC (things like Knockdowns/Knockbacks) will do big chunks of it at once; while softer CC (Like Imob, Chill, Blind, etc) will chip away at it slowly.

In a way, you can pretend Knockbacks and such are like crit/power hitting an hp bar. And the imob/chill is like doing torment/poision. Any time the mob would be effected by the stun/condition, it hurts their break bar to allow them to ignore the effect.

I’ve been spewing for years that they should sell “auras” and you would have an equipment slot for an aura, like you do a mini or back piece or so. No stats, nothing but cosmetic effect. You could buy some from the tp, craft some, etc.

Reason up until now i feel like they haven’t done it is because they want the legendarys to be the only thing giving you fancy effects. Aside from these limited and difficult to craft shoulder skin ones.

Hmnh.. why did my leather seats turn into fabric overnight?.. Thats stupid.. I mean, I guess the car is still good on gas, still worth it…

They sold you one thing, saying it did one thing. It worked one way when you bought it. Now that you have it, they bait-n-switched you. You now have an item that has a crappy ICD, Gives you boosts (maybe) 1 out of 10 times (vs a ~50/50 chance) and seems to be constantly (selectively) having boosts removed from it. I haven’t gotten a Karma boost from it since wintersday released this year, and ive used hundreds of candy corn.

I want my 300 gems back, they keep nerfing this thing every time I try to use it.

Thats dumb. Also, is it just impossible to craft the Ascension this season even if you manage to hit legendary? Considering im only getting 20 tickets per division and you need like 125?

I just map my stow weapon to x, you can cancel any skill more or less by pressing it mid cast.

Okay, so i need help and quick.. because time is of the essence with these meta achievements. I have like 15 days per tier before I loose time on my already shorter 4th tier..

The problem im having is this:
League Recruit- cross one division threshold in a pvp season. Completed that when I turned emerald and got the meta achievement.

League Veteran (was unlocked when I did Recruit) did NOT advance to 2/2 when I moved from emerald to sapphire..

Anet, help me

Okay, so checked this after the patch today. DESPITE the patch notes not even MENTIONING this was a bug, or was repaired. It seems to be working now.

So anet, gonna give our guild the two weeks worth of missed favor now that you’ve fixed it?

Gonna even acknowledge the fact that it was broken in the first place?

You know whats worse then the buggy game? Devs or forum moderators not even POSTING something here to let us know they even acknowledge this as an issue.

I understand if its broken, we all see that. At LEAST TELL US your working on a fix so we know you saw this crap!

Or better yet, tell us if your freakin’ gonna disable it in the first place.

How about you auto award all the guilds that HAVE these missions on their rotation the favor for free to make up for this horridly unnecessary transgression. The middle ground is we would be accepting the loss of our personal rewards.

Do it anet. Your killing your game with crap like this.

Remember about five pages back when I said MY eta was a year, far after HoT released? Well, were only about 9 months away from that being true.

Anet is too busy breaking everything else while also trying to make HoT.. This just isnt even on their list of important crap to deal with.

They say it wasn’t backburnered, because they haven’t put it on the side… Its more or less like dedicating 0.00001% CPU to working on this, while putting the remaining 99.9999% on everything else; TECHNICALLY NOT BACKBURNERED!

Oh and PS, anet DOES test their stuff… on us.. We test all of their bugs and help them work it out. That is their testing process: Make kitten, release it, people find the bugs, they fix it (Eventualy.)

After they announced HoT, the hype train began. Even with the few things I disliked here and there with Gw2 I never thought ANYTHING would derail the hype train.. I was so excited, wanted nothing more but more info.. everythign they leaked, spoke of.. all of it was music to my ears..

Then the fiasco with the pre-release happened..

I didnt think anyhting would make me hesitate to pre-order the SECOND it became avaliable.. but that did.

A few days later, they announced they were sorry for the misunderstaning, and corrected it. I was instantaniously relived, and just about to purchace the 100$ preorder..

And then this patch rolled out.

I was honestly excited for this patch, I liked a lot of the changes (to leveling, new traits would mean a change in game play, spice things up, etc.. Not to mention a gorgeous new Lions arch..)

But when I got online, and realised that unless I played a meta, all of my builds were removed from the game or nerfed out of exsistance.. I realised how DPS focused everythign was.. How destroyed PVP and WvW were..

Well, to sum it up. Theres no new PVE content to play, been there and done that with everythign they have out so.. nothing to do there.

PVP and WVW is broken, forget about that until they ballance crap (Unless I feel like CONSTANLY running in a massive zerg.. thats stupid, I would like to play the game with a few friends, or even be ABLE to play alone, if no one was around to play. Not make the game a REQUIREMENT to play with others just to be viable..)

So.. uh, I think with this last patch not only did they actually derail the hype train fully, and make me NOT want to buy the expansion. I think they ACTUALLY convinced me to QUIT..

From gw1, all the way until now in gw2. Ive been loyal and loved playing this game. But this patch destroyed everything I knew and loved about the game, and on TOP of it, took a massive dump over the morals I loved Anet so much for.

So.. Kindly F off, all you dps babies who like to mash your face into the keyboard and kill things to pretend your good at something, all the people who “love” what the update did. Thanks for ruining a beautiful thing.

Two years? Everyone here and a wiki will tell you everything they’ve added. Ill caution you to the things they’ve removed:

Glory if you had any its just gone~ Poof, wasted.
Monthlys – No more monthlys, only dailys now. And you get rewards just for logging in so you no longer get laurels from completing dailies, just from logging in every so often.
Build Diversity go find yourself a meta build, because with the crazy overpowered damage and conditions they have right now, playing anything that isnt a meta is outright underpowered and worthless.
Hall of Monuments Hope you got your skins if you played gw2, its been broken for months and they keep saying “Soon” but the fix aint gonna come out until they can fix everythign else broken atm im sure :/ (Then if HoT comes out, there gonna have to upkeep all the bugs/breaks in that!)
Skill Points Those are really just turned into two seperate things, Hero Points and Spirit Shards, the shards are basicly currency to buy mystic forge stuff and hero points are just.. you unlock trait trees with them, and unlock your utility skills and such. But you dont get to CHOOSE what you unlock, it unlocks it in a pre-determined order. You know, so you dont have to hurt your head thinking about what you actualy want and all.
Living World Yeah, ever since January when the last bit of season 2 finished, they announced there will be no more living world until HoT comes out. The only real content we’ve had added to the game is the new Lions Arch, but thats more eye candy then it is playable content. They’ve had a few tournements and such, but thats not really new.. They could have done Super Adventure Box, or some little something, but.. really nothing has been happening besides mechanic bre-(Cough).. “changes”.. and the like.
A fun leveling experience Oh yeah, that was removed a while back, you cant do your personal story until your at least level 10, you cant get into wvw until your lv 30 something, and theres a whole buncha things like mining nodes, vistas, and etc that your locked out of until you hit a certian level. Oh, and your weapon skills unlock via level now too. So have fun auto-attacking the tutorial boss for 5 minutes alone, because no one else happens to be there.. and you cant die.. and you can only press 1 (and you only really need to press 1 once.).. oh and if you dont press 1, the npc’s will kill the boss for you, so its all good.

Sorry if that seemed a bit negative. But.. its all pretty much sadly true.

I think your looking at “regression” in the wrong light. Selling old skins and tools is just smart, people who didnt play back then will want them. Why shouldnt they have them? Only the people who are elitest and want the prestige of being the only one to have them blah blah blah are the people who wouldnt want anet to sell them again.

Rather, lets look at “Regression” from a view point of the standards that Guildwars 2 created when it came out, the innovation and beautiful design. The mold breaking mmo that showed the world that you didnt have to be a WoW clone to be an awesome game.. Now lets look at where we are now, from where we were at launch. Build diversity being destroyed, traits being removed and streamlined. The game is all about dps, being tanky or heal heavy is utterly pointless when you can kill bosses and players faster then they can hurt you.. Look at the whole entierty of a game that “you can play how you want” while your leveling up and unlocking things as simple as Vistas, or WvW.. You have to wait until lv 10 to start doing your personal story.. Your not playing how you want anymore, your playing the way they want you to. The way they want you to is becoming progressivly more limited with each patch.

There has been regression, they have gone against their own morals and principles. WoW has taken a lot of great ideas Anet has made, to make their game less crap, and Anet (Or maybe NCsoft) has taken a lot of crap ideas from other games to make more money. Gw2 has gotten worse, and other Mmo’s have gotten better.

We have regressed in a way most people might not realize. We have lost the morals that set us so far apart from the other streamlined MMO’s and WoW clones.

Its just a matter of time before there are subscription fees, or p2win crap in the gem store Sighs

(Honestly, I think even anet knows if they ever charged sub fees’ that even the most loyal of their player base will leave them. subscription fees is just an example of them going back on their words and the morals of their original release. I seriously think arenanet needs to take a few steps back and look at where they came from, and get back to their morals and roots.. set out to be better then other mmo’s and let their players return because of THAT, not because of fancy meta-marketing tactics, and empty-promises and lack-luster bells and whistles.)

I think its more boring idling/auto-attacking the tutorial boss for 5 minutes waiting for the tutorial to end. You know, because you cant die and you only have 1 ability to use..

Regardless of if hearts are boring or redundant or not, leveling has changed A LOT from launch. In my opinion, it had been made a lot worse, but the recent patch made it a bit better (not locking you out of your traits and tallents until lv 40, etc.)

But theres still .. something.. missing from back then. Something that makes me hate making new alts, despite knowing the game and loving the combat and such. I know what hearts to avoid, and when to do them with events.. It just feels so.. meh.. now..

I think most of it is how I’m being spoon fed from anet how to play the game. Half the fun of “go out and do whatever you want” was.. well.. doing whatever I want? You notice he never had a dodgeroll tutorial and figured out how to dodge from the start.. Why lock me out of Vistas, mining nodes, personal story, and al this crap until the game TELLS me I can go do it? I see thins on my mini map, I wanna go to them, I wanna see what they do! Not wait until im lv 10 to view vistas or some crap and WAIT to experience some awesome stuff!..

Sadly, I see gw2 becoming more and more like WoW. Funny how be complained about “grinding” and then said he liked WoW more.. Because WoW is nothing BUT a grind.

Your not complaining about anything new. Build diversity is dead, this is one of the many reasons why. Anet only wants you to have 1-3 viable builds per class so they can easily keep the hats on everything and keep crap ballanced.

They arent going to let you double dip, because that gives people more diversity, and thusly is more work for them to worry about balancing.

Its the reason the game is spiraling down the WoW drain.

Why dont you just roll back the trait system until you can manage to ballance everything, then put it back out again. Why leave the game so broken while you work on so many obvious blaring bugs. Roll it back, fix the kitten, try again later.

Instead what your gonna do is make us all suffer through this unballanced crap-fest until HoT comes out, still not have it ballaced, then have to ballance the NEW stuff along with the unballanced old stuff.. Its going to be a mess…

The people that will cry about a temporary trait rollback are the people who are running around one shotting people in the first place. They are gonna cry because they cant press one button and do 20k damage. Boohoo.

Everyone who “Loves” the new system is someone who already plays a op-meta build. People who dislike the meta are the serious players who stood by arenanets original morals of “Play what you want, how you want it” not “Play what we tell you to play, or dont play at all.”

The people who HATE the new trait system is because its BLARINGLY obvious why they killed build diversity. So that they could more easily manage what was overpowered and add things to the game without breaking too much. Its much easier to keep tabs on one to two builds per class, then a possible hundred that any one minor buff could easily make brokenly op.

Clearly arenanet is not good at thinking in advance what their changes will do, and their players are. Hence why this patch comes out and the whole game is a fiasco of mesmers running around nuking entire zergs in WvW.. I think that was the FASTEST i’ve ever seen anet patch/nerf something.. Ironicly after people were complaining and a moderator posted in the thread “I think its a bit too early to judge, the patch has only been out for 4 hours.”..

Its clear now that every class has a few options for builds, 1-3 max. And those builds are limited to what your doing with them. IE you have one PVE build, one WvW build, and one Spvp build. Theres no diversity in that.. Everyone in PVE will have the same build, everyone in WvW will have the same, etc.. Sure its easier to ballance, but at the expense of our FREEDOM.. They are doing EXACTLY what WoW did when they streamlined their game and everyone and their mothers quit.

In one patch, anet removed ALL of the builds that ALL of my characters used, by removing traits, merging them into random other trees, or outright just buffing the meta builds into making it utterly pointless to run anything else. Its stupid, and I hate THAT.

Aside from that, I love everything else in the game they added. Im just kittened I cant play any of this amazing new content because I have no built character to experience it on. I refuse to just go look up a meta and play what the internet tells me I have to play. That goes against EVERYTHING gw2 stands for.

Then nerf it, or nerf fire aura.. Dont remove it because it would be too OP.. They have freaking fresh-air ele’s running around oneshotting kitten with the new “builds” worse then before. They dont remove that kitten from the game? Besides, fire aura only burns if you attack someone with it up. Its not like how they buffed confusion to pretty much be a mild poision sans the anti-healing effects.

Anet, with one patch, single handedly DESTROYED my main three characters builds. All thats left is playing stupid kittening meta kitten now. I have no interest in conforming to doing what everyone else is doing. Id rather quit, and until something changes, I think I will. Im so disgusted with this crap I cant even bring myself to log in, not to mention ATTEMPT to get used to new builds with the FEAR of them being RIPPED AWAY from me again..

They didn’t completely remove Fire’s Embrace, they just added the effect to conjurer under the fire specialization and made it work with conjured weapons.

Unless I can activate a signet and get a fire aura, then its removed. They didnt move it to conjurer, they removed Fire’s Embrace, and added some new worthless crap.

However there is, for some reason, a blue text tooltip saying my healing signet would give me fire aura, even though it does not. Only when I have Conjurer selected. As if they had intended to leave fires embrace there, and removed it last minute.

I hate this, I hate all of this. If this trait is really gone I have no interest in picking up a copy-pasta meta build and playing what everyone else tells me to play. I want to play my own build, and I dont want my own build to be utter crap without it being a meta. All of these kitten ed updates just KILL the build diversity. There is no more build diversity, builds are “Do this if your pve, do this if your pvp, do this if your wvw.” Thats not options, thats not choices.. Why dont you just save people the god kitten ed time clicking on traits and put a giant “WVW” or “PVP” or “PVE” button on their kitten ed trait tabs and just have them click what one they want to kittening play.

Im kittened, and honestly after every other character I’ve ever had has had their builds REMOVED from the game (Not nerfed, utterly inviable and removed.) I honestly have no interest in playing anymore. I cant even bring myself to keep TRYING to make something new and interesting, because your just gonna take it the kitten away from me in the next patch.

The lack of support was absolutely wonderful too, great job anet. Id pay money to put the game back to where it was, even if HoT never came out.

Why dont you just make it so simple a player only has to choose one trait line, one weapon, and one slot skill. “Are you gonna be a ranger that presses 1, 2, or 3?” “Are you gonna be an elementalist that uses fire? Air? Or water?”

Stop over simplifying crap.. seriously anet.. your killing this game. After this last patch im seriously about to quit before I ever get to HoT! Im tired of you making entire builds and characters of mine utterly worthless with your “updates”..

Id do anything to play the original buggy as’ gw2 again. In all of its difficult and diverse glory.

what builds of your did they kill? I was running a elixer engy before today and it got better. I was running a 0-4-6-0-4 necro before with staff and i did the same basic build and it got better. I was running a zerker warrior before and what to my surprise i was actually glassy for the first time in this game.

I literally went threw every class and changed a few things to either make them more glassy or bunkery. The only class that stayed cele for me was necro and to me every class felt like they should have. People had real problems killing my guardian, i could kill people very easily with my warrior/thief/ranger if they tried to ignore me. I stayed cele with my condi mesmer and i was still ok in team fights and i felt my necro actaully got better.

What were you using that got worse? Were you using a old meta build and now you actually had to use some skill and time other players attacks? Avoid getting hit by clones? im questioning if you actually tried to adjust or just came here to complain?

No, I dont like to use meta builds. I like to use builds that are effective without being meta. My ele build for one, was utterly removed from the game. Signet/aura ele was utterly destroyed because they REMOVED fire’s embrace from the game.

Im not gonna sit here and go through ever last class’s builds, I already said it before. If its a meta, they left it in there somewhere. If it wasnt, then they didnt care if what they moved/change destroyed it. Forcing you to only stay in three trees, forcing you to only have one of each tier, removing traits utterly from the game.. all of those things trickled down the choises of builds. They are turning into WoW when they decided that the skill trees were too much and started just having you pick one thing or another as you hit a certian level.

I’m honestly sick and tired of them preaching about build diversity, then constantly having my builds removed from the game. From way back in the day with my saveyourselves/shoutboon guardian, till today with my signet/aura condi-ele.. There forcing us to pick metas, and I dont want to play what everyone else plays. Thats not what the game was supposed to be about.

Signet traits are in earth now. You don’t get auras on signet anymore, but there are other sources of auras. On top of that Aura share trait in water works with ALL auras, not only weapon skill ones.

The Fire’s Embrace is removed, my ele build revolved around that.. I need that trait in order to have my build..

Anet please put it back ;_;?

Alright, I recall seeing in the past the “Fire’s Embrace” trait merged with another somewhere before this patch. Now that the patch is out.. I cant seem to find it ANYWHERE.. Infact, I cant find any of the signet related traits (Like the reduced cd ones etc)

I see all the other traits that give you things when you receive an aura, but nothing that gives you the fire shield when you activate a signet.

Anet, is this a bug?.. Or did you remove Fire’s Embrace from the game? If you did.. You just single handedly destroyed my elementalist.

Please tell me this is a bug, Conjure trait makes my healing signet say it would give me fire aura, but it dosent. Plz respond, I really cant do anything without signets granting me fire aura..

Why gone.. wheres all the signet related traits? What the hell is the purpose of running signets without that trait? Why would they remove it? I swear I saw it was there mixed in with something else before they patched..

Omg I would LOVE that so much. a 20 slot bag that showed up on all my alts, I run in WvW a LOT and constantly get frustrated that I happen to be on an alt that dosent have all of my siege and such. Having a universal bag means I could put my wvw siege in it and every toon would always have all my siege, and food buffs, and toy trinkets and such.

I would buy it; Yep.

There are no Magi trinkets either. Aside the two rings you get from 100% the collection from Twilight Arbor and Honor of the Waves. Thats the only two Magi trinkets in the GAME and you can only get them once each per account. So only one character can have half magi ascended trinkets. (Magi = Healingpower/Vitality/Precision)

Its an easy fix. The starter pack just has to offer the base game OR 800 gems along with the HoT expansion(Keeping in mind that the other two packages are the starter PLUS stuff so its for all of them really).

Everyone wins, no one has to refund anything, anet dosent have to pay money. Its that simple.. 800 gems.

Because let’s face it, how many are going to be sitting on an unused character slot if you’ve already been playing the game? (my guess is almost none)
Players that are coming in fresh can get both games together, and won’t necessarily need an extra slot. But if we already have the base game, it should just automatically give us a free extra slot instead when we purchase any version of HoT.

Some people really are sitting on an extra character slot. The 800 gems is perfect because if they are, the free slot means nothing to them. But 800 gems is.. 800 gems.. lol

You cant go wrong with the 800 gems. If your a new player you choose the core game, if your a veteran player with an open character slot, you get a free 800 gems, and if your a vet player without a character slot, you buy a characterslot with the 800 gems. Everyone wins, no one gets angry with getting ripped off. And best of all, it costs Anet NOTHING to do this fix. They dont have to change any pre-existing orders, refund anyone anything, or go back on their word. They just have to hand out the option to get one thing or the other.

Even though this idea is better than the current state of things, I have to wonder how the value of the base game ($50) equates to the value of 800 gems ($10).
Newcomers still get a vastly better deal, no matter which way you spin it.
To make it equal, the 4000 gems ($50) included in the $100 bundle is what we should really be getting. We already paid the other (mandatory) $50.

That way it’s $50 for HoT (Like everyone), $50 for something (gems) rather than nothing (taking the place of our now-invalidated GW2 purchase), and $0 for GW2 since it’s now free.

Gw2 core game is not going to be free forever. Devs have already posted that its only being included free currently as part of the pre-purchase deal. Eventually the core game will cost XX$ and the HoT expansion will cost 50$

The issue here and now isnt that 50$ for just the expansion is too much, its that new comers are getting amazing deals on buying the expansion, and the veteran players are paying 50$, then having to pay an additional 10$, paying 60$ total for the same content that newbies are paying 50$ for. It should be the other way around, and it would have been that way if they didnt include the core game for free. Because then people would have bought (like many did) the Gw2 Core while it was on sale for 10$, then 50 for the expansion. Meaning everyone paid 60$ to play HoT in the end. Not favoring anyone one way or the other. This blaintent favoring of new players and punishing the old ones is whats gotten everyone’s panties in a bunch.

Or let us buy HoT with gems since people like making the “gold for slot” argument.

Anyone making the gold for slot argument will be sorely mistaken that it holds any ground when release day comes out, and 1,000 people buy characterslots with gold and the inflation makes 100 gems worth 2,000 gold. Do you remember when they made the black wings? Gems went from like 30 gold for 600 to like 90.. Thats THREE TIMES the cost in inflation! And that was only for a skin!

People wont be able to AFFORD gold for a character slot unless they could also afford to buy a legendary off the TC with gold..

The real issue here, in my opinion, is something Anet cannot fix.

They should have never offered the base game for free.

If they would have put it on sale, but sold it seperatly, there would be FAR less people complaining about all of this. Sure some people would complain about the 50$, but if it was 40$ people would complain about that too lol

In the end, they cant go back on their word now. The base game is free with the expansion. The only thing they can do now to fix this is somehow compensate their loyal veteran playerbase. The easiest way I’ve seen discussed, and agreed upon is that you get a choice with ALL of the package deals.

Base Guildwars2 Game OR 800 gems. With the standard, deluxe, and ultimate packages.

If your new, and dont have the base game, you get the base game and the expansion for 50$
If your a veteran, and you already have an open characterslot waiting for the expansion, you get 800 gems to play with as you please.
If your a veteran and do NOT have an open character slot, you can use the 800 gems to buy one, effectively turning your 800 gems into a free character slot.

Gems do not cost arenanet anything, so they have no additional overhead.
Arenanet will not have to go back on their promises or words
Everyone should be perfectly happy with that solution, as it benifits everyone no matter what situation you are in, or what package deal you bought.

The only people who are left to complain if they did that, would be the people who are complaining about the price in general. 50$ might be a bit, but its not unreasonable, its just expensive. I dont mind paying 50$ as long as im never going to be charged a monthly fee.

If you want this idea to succeed, if this will really make you all content, then talk about that. The more you talk about how happy you will be with it, the more they will notice and the more likely it will become a reality! Everyone complaining and threatening to jump ship dosent fix it, it only makes anet rush into other bad decisions to not sink.

And then you’ll get justified complaints from the Deluxe buyers, who will claim the main reason they paid more was the slot, and they don’t think their mini Rytlock is worth that much now. You could offer them 2 slots, but they could still say they only need one for the new class.

It’s pretty much too late now.

Why would you pay 15$ more for a 10$ characterslot? If you paid that much more for the slot and the junk, anet could just give those people 800 gems. Or just make the option “Base game, Character slot, or 800 gems”

If the original good ol’ fashioned ArenaNet has taught us anything up until now, its how to take a community of utterly random people and get them to work together to accomplish something in mass that no other pug community could ever accomplish. From world bosses, to Silverwastes, I’ve seen 100+ man groups doing things coordinated naturaly in ways I’ve never thought possible.

Heres the new boss guys, its Arenanet. And if you complete this Dynamic Event, the reward could be everything you wanted from this expansion and so much more.. All we have to do is work together to show arenanet that were not complaining or griping about prices, but fairness and equal oppurtinuity.

So whos with me? Lets see how many pugs can work together on this one..

I vote this is a good idea: 800 Gems, A Character slot, or the base game choice with all packages.

You know, after thinking in depth about the price. I am going to say this right here outright.

I am alright with paying $50.00 USD for this expansion. Gw2 was great, had lots of content and even if its not gonna be as much content in the new expansion as the base game, I paid about the same for each WoW expansion I ever played up until I quit that kitten like a bad habit.

Now with that said, let me tell you what im NOT okay with:
For new players, players who are not loyal and might not even make a fully lv 80 character before getting bored with the game.. Those players are getting a GREAT deal for the 50$.. For all of us who had played the game from before it even released, bought it at full price, or even paid for deluxe packages in the past.. We are paying just as much as those new players, only we are paying MORE.. Why more? Well, because your gonna have to buy a new character slot.. otherwise no revenant for you?

So new players get the expansion, and the base game, for $50.00
Old loyal players only get the expansion for $60.00 (Because a character slot is 10$ in gems.)

If arenanet announced they were gonna do it this way all along, I would be less offended. The fact they made sales to sell the base game, considering they were gonna give it away anyway seems like they are trying to funnel money out of us. The fact that they arent giving people characterslots that cost them nothing, makes me feel like there trying to funnel an extra 10$ out of me after I buy the expansion that I NEED to buy to play all this wonderful new content.

From what I’ve seen reading through the 50 or so PAGES of people complaining, anet is going to attract new people who might not even give a crap about their game, and push away the loyal faithful players who have stuck with them all this time because they seem to be a bit too obvious with their selling tactics that all we are to them right now are $$.

I know the damage is done, and they cant take away the free core game.
I know that they wont make the price cheaper because anyone whos already bought it will complain just as much as all of you are now.

But they can still attempt to make this better somehow.. I would even be content with just having a single free character slot to an existing account being upgraded, vs the new account/hot upgrade.

This way the old players get a character slot and the expansion for 50$, and the new players get the core game (that comes with 5 empty slots) and the expansion for 50$.

Without that, its obvious that arenanet is forcing old players to get their value in buying the 100$ package. Because for vets, the standard package will cost them $60.00.

the 100$ package gives you a free slot (10$ there) the 50$ in gems (thats 60$ already) Plus all the fluff like titles and finishers, and leaves you buying the expansion for only $40.00

So, am I to understand as a loyal veteran player, to get my moneys worth I need to spend 100$? While a newb who probably wont make a single lv 80 gets their moneys worth out of 50$?

Thats what upsets me in the end. Thats my two cents about this crap.

All I have to say on this topic is if anet was gonna give the core game away for “free” with the expansion, why would they make a sale on it a month or two before they released that information…

“Hey everyone, come give us 20$ for the WHOLE GAME! Its an amazing deal!” (It really is)

Then a few months later.. “Oh the expansion is 50$.. and the core game is free!”

So.. you paid an extra 20$ just to play the game a month or two earlier then you would have. Or even worse, if you bought the game to get up to par for the expansion at FULL PRICE then got sacked with this. “Hai, just paid 40$ to play Gw2.. Now I have to pay 50$ to play HoT!”

The only excuse anet could possibly offer is the “Your getting benefits of early access and special titles, thats what your really paying for!”

And I could retaliate with

Anet, your getting willing and able people to TEST your game FOR YOU, live! Your titles are not worth 50$… If there was ever a gem store sale for a title like “Gem Buyer” and it was like 4000 gems.. Anyone caught wearing said title would be socially outcast as the typical n00b p2p’er.. “Nice sunrise, did you buy it with your mommys credit card? LOL” and etc.

Anet has always been about giving us stuff and content without charging. Honestly I’ve gotten more then my moneys worth out of the first Gw2 release, and that amazing sense of worth is the only reason I’ve put any money into the gem store to get a cool skin here and there. Because i’m getting a cool skin, AND supporting an awesome game.

For anet to start “acting like all the other mmo’s” when their whole thing was supposed to be breaking the mold and being better then the rest.. Sure, your gonna get away with charging me 50$ because I cant stop you or change your mind.. But instead of spending 50 more dollars or more in the gemstore, I’m gonna consider all that as “you got your money out of me when I bought the game.”

Charging me more and not charging me a subscription fee is like just charging me a really small subscription fee all at once.

If anything i’m not disappointed in the price so much so as I am how anet is going back against the foundation of what they believed and preached to us from the start. A wonderful and potent MMO that moved away from the standards that WoW set into play years ago.

Btw, I think I paid like 40$ for WotLK back when it came out (And the last WoW expansion I ever bought.). and it was ONLY for the expansion. So is 50$ lot of money for an expansion?.. Maybe a bit higher then I expected.. But the real question shouldn’t be “is Arenanet charging me too much for Gw2:HoT?”… The REAL question is:

“Is Arenanet turning into Blizzard?”

For what its worth, rolling an account back to the point prior to the exploitive gains is not punishment. Not profiting from an exploit is no more a punishment than would be a court sentence that a bank robber return what he stole.

The thing everyone seems to be forgetting here is that an exploit is not a hack. These people didnt break into the code and rip things out they were not supposed to. They played the game in the way they saw fit as the game allowed them to do so.

Some people knew what they were doing wrong, some people were just ignorantly following along. A bank robber robs from a bank and takes something illegitamatly. A person getting a bank account that was offered with 10% interest then depositing 10k$ (and making 1 grand off interest) and being arrested because the interest was supposed to be 1% is another story.

Okay, first of all the difference between buying 100 loaves of bread for 1 cent each, and walking back to my car and having 100 loaves of bread that I did not buy are completely separate instances.

Im not saying these people should not be punished, but the punishment should be a roll back on their account, making them loose all of the stuff they earned with exploitation. In the end, anet dosent want to spend the time A: taking responsibility that the exploit was their fault, and B: Rolling back accounts when its far faster and easier to ban people.

Also, please dont get me wrong. Im not sticking up for exploiters, they break the game and make it awful. Im just saying dont make it seem like its 100% their fault for playing the game in the “most efficient way”. Because thats what they are doing, finding the best way to get money, or items, or what have you; even if that way was never intended.

Should anet go and ban EVERYONE who was farming chests in silverwastes when it first came out? You know, when you could get like 50 chests a minute in a massive unending train? According to them that was CLEARLY unintentional.. But to us, we’ve never seen the area, we dont know what they intended, we dont know what the spawn times were SUPPOSED to be. If you got banned for opening those chests all day, would you find that fair? In that instance, anet did the right thing. Said “crap, that was a mistake” and patched it. Not banned thousands of people for “Exploiting the obviously too fast spawning loot chests” or some bs.

Why? If you exploit something you should lose access to your account, simple as that.

It is not like someone robbing a store gets away with just losing out on the stolen goods after all.

No, but if the store had a price tag on bread that sold the bread for 1 cent and you bought 100 loaves, went to check out, paid, got a receipt, and then was told to have a nice day and went home. Do you think you deserve to have the cop show up a few days later and put you in jail for life?

You just thought that was a good f’n deal on bread. Because the store LET you buy it, and the STORE set the price, not you.

On an unrelated note, seeing as people seem to be chatting more about exploits and bans and such. A solution that should make everyone happy is some what complicatedly simple. If anet did develop this into an easy to use tool for their devs, it could be used to undo these exploiting players, and save people who had been hacked/lost items and whatnot due to bugs. More or less if a character or account has a timeline thats recorded as its played, for each item picked up, achievement earned, and etc. Then if there is ever an issue, Anet can “roll back” that one particular account to a spot previously on its timeline. Sort of like a reverse laminar flow, only with characters.

If people “exploit” because there is a bug that anet missed upon creation, those people now loose whatever ill gained items they created, and their time put into it, without loosing their account. Warnings can be issued, and if they constantly break these rules then temp/perma bans can be handed out.

Ultimately, you have to remember how this community works. Most people just look for a meta. If a current “meta” on making gold happens to be an exploit, people might be too stupid to realize just that, and get banned thinking they are just playing the game super efficiently. I’m not saying they are right for exploiting, but I am saying Anet is to blame at least 50% for having the bug in their game; and the exploiter the other 50% for abusing it.

Just sayin’
