BW3 Difficulty Nerf [merged]

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

I completely agree on this.
BWE 2 seemed really balanced between challenge and satisfaction.
Yesterday I made a Druid with an equipment mix of apothecary and dire and I simply melt through anything that comes near with two traps and torch 5, for veterans I might need a trap more and some torch 4 and sword 3 but that’s it.
I then made a full zerker mesmer (I’m in no way experienced with mesmer, I used tomes to 80 and used mine as bank from then on) and he simply steamrolls everything … except for the snipers that got removed from pretty much everywhere. Once there are two or more I’m down. And I like it.

While I was really hooked in BWE2, I found myself tabbing out of the game while autorunning or listening to music while playing this BWE because nothing feels like a threat anymore. If there is a mob I kill it and move on.
Last BWE when there was a mob I thought “oh kitten, I don’t have enough xyz to survive this”.

Bring back the difficulty please.

Problem with limited claim ticket dialogue

in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website

Ravenfield.9863

I still have two of last year’s Golden Fortune Scraps which could be traded in for the Zephyrite Skins.
When I approach the Black Lion Weapons Specialist with said tickets in my inventory, I can’t chose the “I have one of the limited-time claim tickets.” dialoue although I should be able to.

If, on the other hand, I have my Dragon’s Jade Claim Ticket in my inventory the option is available, including the possibility to trade in the Fortune Scraps too.

I think this might be less of a feature than a bug which prevents people with Fortune Scraps they want to spend from doing so.

Dragon Bash 2014

There was also speculation that they will do Dragon Bash in Labyrinthine Cliffs (Zephyr Sanctum place) this year as Lion’s Arch is destroyed. There were some pictures data mined about Zephyr Sanctum on reddit a couple of month ago:
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/205srl/bazaar_of_the_four_winds_blade_shards/cg01eme

What do you think?

The Zephyrite Helm skins recently got updated item-icons (all 3 are different now). That plus the new textures for some Bazaar related stuff like banners and kites could lead to the conclusion that something Labyrinthine Cliff related is coming. Not sure about Dragon Bash though, didn’t read anything about it recently.

How long did it take you ?

I think around two months passed until I made some decent profits from basically every flip I do without the need to cut losses often. I started with around 20g (notoriously poor, sort of) which then quickly added up to around 150-200. At that point flipping excessively wasn’t fun for me anymore and I started speculating.
Sometimes I still invest around 30-40g for flipping but the amount of time spent in comparison to the outcome isn’t worth it for me, simply because I’m not motivated to keep track of the market’s ups and downs.
In comparison, speculating is way more easy as soon as you get an idea of what to invest in. Though, during the last events I made temporary losses of around 200g due to an unexpected drop in prices after, the market slowly recovers, at the moment I break even, and will rise further.
So flipping more or less is the safest way to earn some decent money if you are willing to spend the time and effort and you always want your money in form of money, speculating earns you chunks of gold if you are willing to clutter your bank with items for weeks, months or even longer and don’t have a problem with having your gold sit around as non-spendable items (Sold my last Southsun skins a few days ago for around 1000% profit or more)

Tbh I’m one of the lazy players too when it comes to certain things. When I want a specific item it might happen that I buy it outright even if I know the buy order would fill within the next 10 Minutes, just because I’m impatient.
This said I’m also flipping a decent amount of things since last year and at the moment even buying instantly and immediately selling afterwards yields profits at certain markets because people tend to think “oh no, I’ll never sell for this much, I’ll list it for half of it” (all coming from the price changes since the update went live)

Why can't we equip all weight class clothing?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ravenfield.9863

Ravenfield.9863

Well, you sort of mentioned the answer yourself.
I think the main problem of this (regardless of PvP and WvW) is the clipping. Now, with three armor classes, every item needs to be able to match around a third of the existing items.
If we remove the weight restrictions there suddenly will be two thirds more of possible clipping issues.
If I recall correctly this is one of the reasons ArenaNet doesn’t allow the former Town Clothes to be worn individualy: because there would be massive clipping problems with a lot of the existing items if they did.

I still agree with the idea of no weight restrictions leading to more diversity and individuality but I don’t think the effort needed to get this right would be justified right now, there are much more urgent issues at the moment.

gold nerf = better economy ?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Ravenfield.9863

Well, playing the markes works in a lot of ways. You don’t neccessearily need to start spending all your spare time sitting infront of price lists (even though a lot of the more profitable areas involve the trading post), there is some decent crafting, mystic forging, gathering (for example certain cooking ingredients), salvaging and sure, the most profitable of all (given that you already have a decent amount of gold to spare) : speculation.
Still, the gold nerf shouldn’t do too much harm since a few gold sinks like repairs are gone and they need to make up for that somehow.

Paying for my already paid skins????

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ravenfield.9863

Ravenfield.9863

The usage of skins didn’t change.
If you have a skin-item, you can put it into your inventory, open your Outfit UI and chose the skin from the “inventory” section above the “wardrobe” section. Applying the item from the inventory doesn’t cost a charge, consumes the item and adds it to your wardrobe.
Right clicking and storing the skin destroys it, thus preventing the normal use.

Reasons you don't like the new patch.

I second the EU-Megaserver problems!
I don’t mind a lot of mixed languages because I speak english, german and a bit of french but I guess most of the playerbase doesn’t and so I could witness, within 5 minutes of being logged in at Rata Sum, germans complaining about french; frenchmen complaining about germans; english speaking people shouting “ENGLISH PLS” because they didn’t get a single word and a few spaniards chatting with themselves.
At least for the language/country specific servers we need the system to do a better sorting so people aren’t upset about that kind of foreign-bazaaresque atmosphere

Uhm, if you have a skin you can apply it like you could before, the only difference now is, that, once applied, you also have it inside your wardrobe for further use.
You don’t lose anything, you only benefit from it.

Limited sales pretty much boost ANets income because people tend to buy things impulsively as soon as they see that there is a limited supply.

But yes, please bring back the Grenth Hood for a few days, I was quite disappointed when it didn’t show up during the march sale (Waited the whole month and didn’t buy some other skins because of that). Pretty please!

Why so negative

Ravenfield.9863

For me the worst part of all the complaints is the argumentation “Yes, ArenaNet listened to what the players wanted and finally are going to implement it, not only one of the things but quite a bunch at the same time but all of these changes were demanded by the playerbase and now ArenaNet announces them as if it was their idea!” Seriously guys, who else should announce game changes if not ArenaNet? Player xXTastyCarrotBunnyHopperXx (no offense intended if this player should exist)? “Hey guys, I just implemented the wardrobe, enjoy”?
Besides, if everyone’s demands would be implemented this game would be outright unplayable, so the Devs need to ponder whether a suggestion is useful or not and how they could implement it without changing other aspects aswell.
Like Frostfang already said, all the hate and complaints are just sad.
GW2 was the first game to introduce a concept like Living Story, ever! And yet people complain about not getting a new First Place Bestseller lorewise and so on.

And now the Part for our Devs: Keep up the great work guys! I play since beta and well … I’m still playing (Which I can’t say from 10+ MMOs, besides GW1, I played extensively within the last 6 or 7 years) so you don’t seem to do such a bad job after all ;-)

Suggestion: A pet for everyone

Ravenfield.9863

Great idea! Doesn’t need to be a special “Not-Mini-Not-Pet”, I’d be totally happy seeing some of this stuff implemented for the existing Minis. They don’t even need to have an impact on anything than atmosphere, a tune while attacking or a Mini-pen for us Zaishen Menagerie fetishists (sob please, a nice little island … just tiny? Pleeaase? ._.) would be enough, even without a condition, just for the cuteness!
There is so much unused potential when it comes to Minis, they use up inventory slots, are … well … mini, and … yeah, that’s pretty much it. I agree, some are nice for RP purposes, some are complementary to some characters’ style but other than that I assume that a vast majority of players just fills up the Minis-Tab with them.

Town Clothes - please reconsider.

Ravenfield.9863

I completely agree with the OP, even though I don’t have a lot of characters with decent town clothing I’d be pretty sad not being able to wear my pretty Witch’kitten together with gear of my choice anymore. (Edit: Witch’kitten … Hat of a Witch, why does it get changed automatically?!)
In my opinion, the whole “All or Nothing”-concept for town clothing is the complete opposite to the intended individuality and diversity. Besides, tonics in order to wear a single piece of armor (regadless whether or not it also adds complimentary parts to make it fit)? This is the same inventory cluttering problem as before.

Well, I just went to Bloodtide Coast and something felt unfamiliar. The map suddenly included an island about Laughing Gull Island’s size in the north-west, next to Sorrowful Sound (south-west to Lion’s Arch)
Now my question: Have I been blind for the last months or is that island new? Seriously, I can’t recall anything about seeing it before. Wiki’s Bloodtide Coast map doesn’t show it either.
After trying to swim there the current pushed me back like expected.

Feedback/Questions: Transmutations

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Ravenfield.9863

Ravenfield.9863

I don’t really understand the problem here. As far as I understand the whole change, the system basically remains the same.
Before, you used a crystal or stone to switch from one to the other, in that process one of two items were consumed.
Now, you use a charge to switch from one skin to another instead of a crystal/stone, without actually consuming an item, so even if there is a change in the results, the skin-part of the process is the old one.
The only thing we can’t say for sure yet is, whether we can use our current skins for free once and then have to use charges for further transmutations or if the skin gets consumed without applying a skin in order to join our Wardrobe so we need to spend a charge even if we legitimately own that particular skin already.
Nevertheless I can fully understand the doubts about the conversion rate. Before you had the “precious” lvl 80 transmutation and the “cheap” until-79-transmutation, now this becomes the same, so – just a guess – all in all people pre-80 now have to pay more for skin changes, people at 80 have to pay less (assuming that the charges’ price will be the average between Crystals and Stones)
Edit: The Town Clothing part seems to differ from this process since, as I understand it, there will be additional slots for town clothing which we basically wear above our armor then, without the need to reskin anything.
