BWE 3 Guardian Feedback (Core/DH)

Okay, a lot of hate for traps here.

One way to majorly fix them.
Either Virtuous Action, Defender’s Dogma, or Pure of sight (or ANY of the traits we currently have in fact) should give the added bonus of allowing Dragonhunters to ground target traps IF they are holding a longbow.

So while wielding a longbow with this trait you are able to set traps from a distance BUT if you switch to, say, a mace, things go back to normal and you set it at your feet.

Is this possible? I feel like it would take away a lot of the flack Dragonhunter is getting AND give a cool new mechanic that everyone seems to be craving

Everything is looking fantastic! DH is almost perfect, except for the obvious (traps).

Just spit balling here, but how bout this possible way to make traps more interesting:

Give Spear of Justice a second active. Once linked with someone after a certain time, the Dragonhunter can activate spear again and pull the enemy in closer: thus activating any traps that he has set (and he could switch to his sword or mace and start beating a way at them).

or

I really like the idea that someone had of, if you hold a longbow, you can fire your traps through ground targeting. This would root with a cast time but you but give you a way of setting up the battle field nicely from a distance (you could maybe even give this to Staff and Scepter, taking into account their attack range). Otherwise you’d set them on the ground at your feet with no cast time.

Simple yet effective.

Now we just need to do something about the cast time/set up times for these traps… or at least make em ground targeted and we are getting somewhere.

Dragonhunter is a joke...

I find it funny that people are asking for traps to be removed.

Its not happening people. How about add constructive feedback so that Anet so they can fix what we’re stuck with? Not every specs going to please everyone, reroll a guardian when we get one that brings back Tomes as Kits or something.

So, who's going to switch to Revenant?

I think I may be the only person on these forums that is rather excited for Dragon Hunter…

With all of the changes coming (and probably more to come) I remain optimistic that by the time HoT is out it’ll be a rather cool Spec.

Plus it fits my Sylvari Guardian’s head canon

(won’t stop me from building a Norn Rev though…)

Would you want to be brought back?

We recently received the Dreamthistle series back, meaning that Anet is alright with re-releasing old Black Lion skins that have been slowly been rising in price on the market (some to ridiculous levels).

Aetherized? Fused? Zodiac?

(give me my steampunk hammer Anet!… can you guess which one I want back…? :P)

A blind with the detonation of 5 or even a vuln would be an interesting touch.
Knock em down then detonation to cause an even further moment of weakness.

Hell, why not try causing the detonation to spread your boons to allies as well as heal?

The game’s simple, post your ideas for making the Guardian’s shield skills useful, no matter how big or small.
-Full Reworks
-Minor Tweaks
-Reasons why the current Shield is garbage

All are welcome.

ANET will hopefully, one day, look on this… or one of the 1000s of other threads and utilize one of them and we can all be the shield totting paladin many of us want to be.

My Idea: The core of the skills stay the same, with added mechanics new to HoT.

4: Shield of Judgement- Create a shielding wave in front of you that damages foes and gives protection and resistance. to yourself and up to five allies. Enemies hit by this wave are taunted for a short duration (up to 3-5 enemies…that may be a bit too much?)
-Traited this could give Aegis? Blind enemies as well?

5: Shield of Absorption – Create a dome around you that pushes foes back and absorbs projectiles (this is a channeled spell, but you can move while casting it) (slightly smaller dome to account for movement).

Shield of Absorption (active) – Detonate the dome to heal nearby allies. Healing ramps up after absorbing X amount of projectiles.

What does the community have to offer? How can we make this fragile plank into a BULWARK FOR JUSTICE AND TRUTH

Absolutely needs this. Just a slight colour change too. To bring it more in line with other guardian effects.

The autoattack for the bow could use a bit of work too. Maybe just increase the arrow size to give it more impact. Or just straight up let us shoot massive beams of light.

Anything to make guardians use shield!

Also, with the new tech, it would be interesting to see them implement something like Rev’s Field of the Mists on the shield.

Maybe on Shield of Judgement? 1st phase could be a light field that reflects projectiles. Then you can detonate it to damage foes and give allies protection/resistance (maybe even Aegis when traited?)

Personally I think shield of absorption should be scrapped completely. (there are enough “CREATE DOME AT TARGET” skills in this game)
What if they were given something like a mantra with a different effect each cast?

Resonant Wave:
-Bash your weapon against your shield 3 times, each time causing a different more climactic effect.
1st cast: Heals allies around you a small amount, gives them stability.
2nd cast: Heals allies slightly more, cleansing x amount of conditions
3rd cast: Heals allies again (heal is increased if they are hit with both previous waves), enemies are pushed back.

OR

Enticing Light:
- Your shield begins to glow bright. The next enemy to strike you is blinded and taunted towards you. If you no one hits you you may cast this again, you unleash the light around you, causing blind and vulnerability.

these are probably overpowered… but eh, the more ideas the better.

no votes for the skritt? am i only one who finds them awesome x3

The problem with the skritt is that they need to have multiple with them to remain intelligent. So unless something is changed about their Lore or the player is given the ability to stack like 5 or 6 of them on top of each other…

Hylek – Priest.

Tengu and Koden could be added sure, but what profession could they tie into the race addition/expansion?

Tengu would most definitely bring one of the coolest professions from the original with them… the Ritualist. Yes the Necro has a strong spirit world vibe, but I’m sure Anet would be able to bring something awesome to the table with this class. Like having 3 ghosts linked to you that provide players with buffs, offense, debuffs etc. OR even allow spirits to possess the players and granting them with different skill sets ect.

That would be pretty sweet. Kind of like a ethereal engineer

The one problem I see about this is the lack of customization and relationship/similarities to the Norn (having two races that can be bears would be a little odd, yes a Norn can transform into other animals, but bears are what the Norn are associated with the most).

The Kodan are a pretty amazing race lore and design wise though, I hope something more is done with them in future expansions.

The way I see possible future races going, in relation to importance and depth of lore, however is:

Tengu: The opening of Cantha/fighting of Primordus (they already have their city mapped out on the map)

Centaur: Opening of Elona/fighting of the crystal dragon. (in Elona centaurs are pretty much allied with humans in GW, so if the union still exist that would they would be a shoe in). That or the Forgotten…?

Possible new underwater race for fighting the DEEP SEA DRAGON OR the LARGOS (if you don’t know the Largos don’t spoil it for yourself, they are worth the wait). (can’t see Anet letting use play Quaggan or Krait… though dear god that would be awesome).

Jormag: Kodan reallly only fit into this
