Super easy to implement and I can’t think of why it shouldn’t be allowed.
Placing a traget on a player is extremely helpful in WvW, however, you can only do it while in a party. This isn’t a problem when running guild stuff or im on for a while, but sometimes i just like to hop on and roam a bit. It would be great to be able to place the targets while solo as well.
Just came in to read this and wondered. does anyone else notice that BG isn’t complaining about 2v1….
However, there are like 100000 post from JQ saying “Omg 2v1 always happens, welcome to T1 BG”…. SoS hasn’t seemed to say anything on it.I found one person who mentioned a 2v1 from BG but they weren’t even complaining about it. They were talking about what a great fight they had…
Literally the post RIGHT above yours is a BG complaining about 2v1, lol
I think you just need to comprehend the reading a little better, sometimes people talk pretty to try and cover up their complaint
Nope, not on any of these 3 servers, was just reading through random WvW threads. love how 3 ppl just attack back, the kitten is strong in this thread. If you would actually read the thread above mine instead of pretending to understand, that guy was saying how much fun a 2v1 he encountered was. saying he had Fun and complaining are vastly different things…. I think I now understand where your confusion comes from…

you have to turn your sound settings down. This happens in high population areas when to many sounds are played and it overloads. This also happens on PC version.
go in to options and make sure sounds setting are default or lower.
They should at least die with honor and just strip all their armor off before you stomp instead :P
Not sure if this is a “simple fix” however, if you log out while downed you should obtain damage to your armour as if you died. This will reduce the people who do this as they will have to pay the PvE re-spawn (it’s 0 copper in WvW) AND they will still get the armour damage.

Wow i did not know about that site. that is a great tool. The only problem is that it’s a bit difficult to search by fractal lvl but it’s much better then spamming Lions Arch
Many people are saying that they can’t find groups for certain level of FotM. This is definitely one of the issues with the different levels for the dungeon. It would be great if we had a cross realm group finder for this dungeon specific to your current lvl.
Possible filters for it:
- Will try and match same/similar lvl characters ( 80’s with 80’s, 40’s with 40’s)
- Will try and make groups that aren’t all the same class (5 gaurdians)
This could be used for other dungeons as well (However, there tends to be a divided community on group finders). To work with the lvl system for fractals I think this is needed (this will help reduce the people who haven’t started yet and may have the “left behind” feeling when they can’t get ppl for lvl1 fractals)
Edit: This should probably be in dungeons or suggestions now that i think about it

I agree with the op. If its not constructive there is no point in writing about it on the forums, and 90% of the stuff is non-constructive flaming.
The nice thing about paid MMO’s was that they could block you from using forums if you weren’t subscribed anymore. This seriously reduce’s the amount of “This game is dead” threads and other such useless commentaries.
Is the update perfect? Maybe not. So far though I’m having lots of fun with it though and I think the developers did a great job (especially on the environments).
I’m a PvP player and never touch dungeons (I think i had done AC story mode and that was it). I decided to give FotM a shot and was surprised how fun it was. I remember looking up the recipe and going wow i’ll never get that back piece (having only 60s at the time). Then what do you know 45 minutes later I linked my Tome of the Rubicon to my guild (This is one of the cheaper ones to get because it uses ancient bones, I feel for those that need 250 powerful bloods, but the same price inflation happens on all precision gear)
I have the Tome of the rubicon. it is an ascended item, and i made it on my first day of doing fractals. (I also started that day with 60s to my name)
If you are having trouble getting the mist essence then try using full MF gear. I wasn’t when i looted mine, but the guy that got the 3 in one fractal had full MF gear on. Hopefully you guys get yours soon. Btw dont make the one with the powerful bloods or it will cost you 100G however if you go for the scale one (i think that one has same stats, but i can’t check atm) it will cost maybe 2 gold for 250 of them.
Hopefully you guys get your mist essence’s soon
I had +180% magic find. it still took me 5 hours.
That’s some bad luck. Really though, unless you are flying through the fractals like crazy and at 10+ where there is agony then you really dont need these.
@TsukasaHuraji
I believe you haven’t done enough research on this to come to that conclusion. I spent maybe 5 gold on mine. probably less.

I just want to point out to the people who haven’t yet tried how easy it is to get your back item.
I got the item on the first mob of my second fractal. (this wasn’t just luck, another in my group looted 3, and two other ppl each looted 1). Then it took me 45 minutes to get the mats for forge…
Ring is after lvl 10. I’m no where near that yet but I will get there. Honestly, this is not a gear treadmill.
So far fractals has been a lot of fun, and I must say the art and environments are AMAZING. Good job Arena net
It is very useful, just make sure you keep things accurate. Sometime ppl see 2 mesmers a necro and a ranger an are like “OMG HUGE ZERG TO BAY” not realizing that all the red are pets and stuff. so get a decent head count and say “10 at greenbriar, with 2 rams”
You may get no response but that is because most guilds are on vent/mumble/TS and are probably communicating it and going to check it out.
so general rules:
- call out important things
- don’t over exaggerate
- give head count and siege count if time permits
- give proper location name (not “there’s a zerg over here”)
I must say that i was really surprised at the scores on reset. Ferguson was doing really well last night an I really have to give them props.
It seems like more guilds have transfered to DR this week, however, I must say that a lot of last nights big successes were really good planning and coordination between the leaders and commanders. Most of the caps (like kaineng valley) were not our zerg was bigger then your zerg, but rather a planned out attack that went very smoothly. I love to see stuff like that executed.
Good job to everyone last night. (especially the ones putting in the time and gold for those plans).
This would be practically impossible to balance and require massive amounts of modelling and texturing.
Also I think most people are on the side of removing the PvE aspects of WvW
Not saying it wouldn’t be cool, just practically it probably wouldn’t work.

The title should be “foul mouth” :P
This was one of my favourite parts of the halloween event
Usually when people are angry or frustrated at something they are more likely to come on to the forums and vent about it. While those who really enjoyed the content are still in game further enjoying it.
Therefore, as someone who really enjoyed the Clocktower (and the other content) i wanted to say thank you a-net and the developers. This was the greatest jumping puzzle so far. The groups made it social and the people I was with were all chatting an having a great time. People were even cheering when someone made it up.
What made this fun was the fact that it was challenging. When i finally made it to the top I was extremely happy.
Good job A-net and thank you.
The only scary thing about this event is the RNG gambling system for rewards and the hope that this is not repeated.
GW2 is supposed to be about FUN, not emptying my wallet into a RNG.
I’d be fine with the RNG system for a couple skins ONLY if they were clearly stated to be ultra rare, AND if their were another set of skins that were more common.
Or if the skins had to be crafted and one of the mats could be gathered (but you would need a lot) OR you could buy chests and get stacks of 5x, 10x, or 15x which would help you obtain your goal to craft the skin.
10 Chest open and nothing.
This has seriously put me off of guild wars 2 for a while.
man WVW is SOOOOOOOO fun this week!!
We got our whole borderlands into a group yesterday (4 people) and took one camp. then 50 ppl showed up from JQ so i went back to farming in Orr and then logged out.
I can’t wait to get in and do some more!
seriously though, every match up is soo messed up this week…
Looks like you can never beat HoD now! the players are spread onto all of the other server haha so no matter what a HoD player is winning :P
It’s so lonely here
Yes Tortun this is the kind of thing I’m thinking. Guild claiming doesn’t seem to be very important atm. I have seen maybe one guild use it with all the buffs. Its pretty much run the the NPC claim the keep then go OOOHHH look at our banners! then run away.
2. As for seeing which buffs are active this allows better strategy in knowing how to defend. Or contacting a guild to switch ownership to a bigger guild that can afford to use all the buffs (small but it could help and would be super easy to implement).
10. @ecwoodrow – im not proposing an hp change or anything, Just a model difference (hes supposed to be carrying twice the supplies right?) so why does he look the same. If a scout sees the dolyak is an upgraded one its going to be more important to take it out (obviously not a critical issue that needs to be addressed immediately, but I think it would add a lot).
Sorry, but the reason for server transfers were never intended for WvW balance. (in fact they do exactly the opposite)
In fact it has almost nothing to do with WvW. Here is the real reason as stated by a-net before release. Say i buy guild wars and join server 1, I then find out that my friend also bought it and he started his character on server 2 (eventually we can guest to the serve and PvE toghether but that isn’t implemented yet) so to fix this issue and allowing us to play with our friends we got free server transfers.
Balance in WvW is done by everyone staying put. When people move it completely ruins the scoring system that is supposed to match equally populated/skilled servers against each other. When people move this ruins weeks of data that they have been aggregating to make these matches “Fair and Fun”.
Originally a-net had even said that switching servers would lock you out from the current weeks WvW match (if you switched to the server you were up against).
While is understand that some commanders are just plain bad at WvW, there is also the other side of the story.
Once you have commander you are doomed!
- everytime you log in you get 1000 whispers from PuGs “Hey y don’t you have your title on” “Hey i found an iron vein” “Hey” “Listen” “Hey! Listen” “Hey! Listen” “Why are you going to take that supply camp?”
If you are confused what a commander is doing when he’s standing on the island, then join a guild (either theirs, or one they are in an alliance with) and get in their vent/TS/mumble so you know whats going on.
Some whispers are definitely warranted but it’s actually crazy the things people wil TELL you do that you NEED to do… A commander is running with 30 of his guild mates on vent but 6 PuG are yelling at you the whole time. Usually one person will relay some info to team chat and you welcome to follow along but if you need more information its up to you to join a guild.
I want to start a thread to get some ideas out for guild claiming and keep upgrades.
I have gathered ideas from other post and a bunch of my own ideas…
First Guild Claiming:
- At the moment I feel like this is not very well implemented and not well utilized. Every once in while a good guild will claim a keep and the buffs are great if they activate them but other then that its pretty.. meh….
Main Issues:
– Claiming a keep/tower is a race to guild claiming NPC.
– Banners show but no other information of what guild owns it… I haven’t memorized every guilds banner to even know who owns it.
– Don’t know about the buffs unless you actually visit the keep.
- Possible Solutions **********
GUILD CLAIMING:
1. Map should display the guild that owns it under the keep/tower icon. {from other posts}
2. Maybe a little icon that shows “4 Buffs Active” or something (keep it small)
3. Not sure how to fix guild claiming (should NOT cost money) but heres a thought:
you have to bring like 100 supply to a statue that you repair (gets destroyed when the keep is lost). It would show like an event progress bar Guild 1:[XXXXXX—————] and count up till they claim it?
4. Removing supply should be lockable by the claimed guild (so they can upgrade)
5. Upgrades should cost only supply (or maybe some other currency) {from other posts}
6. Guild gains something for holding a fort. Like WvW coins, and guild influence. (leaderboards? because you can only hold 1 thing on the map i don’t think there would be too much inner server “stealing” of forts but that might be a downside of leaderboards)
– basically just something to give reason for a guild to really hold a fort (especially in matches where score is just way too off).
FORT UPGRADES and SIEGE:
6. Oil should have more HP or be resistant from more attacks. {from other posts}
7. Outmanned should spawn extra guards (like automatic guard upgrade) at all owned towers and keeps. (other team should still win, just makes it less of a roll)
8. Make arrow carts weaker but mobile. (It has WHEELS!) they do not seem to be used for offensive ever! (to counter this the oil could be stronger and mostly immune to arrows. Or fortified walls could add a small roof section near the gates (but not where they could defend efficiently from) that protect from arrow fire or something).
9. possible extra upgrade for supply camp: repair crew from supply camps (top tier upgrade). If a door/wall is damaged in the adjacent keep/tower and hasn’t been damaged for 5 or 10 minutes a repair group of NPCS will leave the camp with 100 supply and repair. If the wall is still damaged the run back to the supply camp and get more. They have an icon like dolyaks the other team knows if one has spawned.
10. upgrading the dolyaks to double supply should spawn 2 dolyaks or change the model to a dolyak with a cart behind it or something. This way you can visually tell that the dolyak is upgraded (more reason to go take that camp or interrupt them).
11. Guardian for dolyak guards upgrade that does the bubble shield. (stop insta zerging them)
12. Guards should not de-spawn immediately when the dolyak dies.
The real problem here is invisible enemies. Give their algorithms time to match servers properly.

YAY! thanks for the update achilleez for all of us at work
what are we itching for? JQ is overpopulated and ET and HoD have like 3 people per BL each day.
Honestly, we had our whole borderlands in one group yesterday for about two hours (first we were 3 people then 4!).
The match this week was pretty much done as far as score on Sunday. Just people having fun now if they can.
had you already reported him? I’m confused why you closed the box without reporting…
Can you have a history function to show the individual score updates? It would be useful data for others who chart the progress (like me). An example is here: https://s3.amazonaws.com/GW2/WuvWuv/20121005HoDvJQvET.png
Monday at 1:00 everyone jumped ship from HoD. lol
Im with you Virchow. I’ll be in HoD for next weeks match living up my no queues and working with the organized players that stayed loyal. We will probably lose regardless due to the massive pop on JQ now, but we will have way more fun doing it! (queue is not that much fun…)
This is what happened on HoD in the first couple weeks. Our queue times grew exponentially the more we won. Then you end up with a bunch of PuGs waiting to be carried to the win and your “from the start” guilds will all be waiting in queue. You start losing ground in WvW, people are taking supply from keeps, guilds get frustrated, people stop waiting in queue and transfer or quit.
(I say “you lose ground”… we did still win those weeks, however, you notice the slow during primetime when your guild can only get a 5 man group in while the rest are in queue.)
As a HoD player I’m excited that JQ is doing well and I really like going against SBI as well.
However, I understand why so many people left HoD.
(now I know people are going to flame this but actually read and understand).
I played on HoD since the start and logged many many hours everyday in WvW. We never lost, and I went from being so into the game to the (we’ve all felt this with MMO’s) uh oh I’m bored. There was definitely competition at times (start of the week is fun), but the ends of the weeks when the lead was large became very stale. You could tell people weren’t logging into WvW once the lead was big enough as most groups were PuG groups and couldn’t accomplish much. I haven’t logged in once this whole week, as I just haven’t felt the interest like I did before. I’m in no way done with GW2, just taking a small break so that I don’t burn out. That being said (I obviously hope we win, despite my lack of help this week) however, losing might be the best thing to reinstate the competitive spirit in HoD players. I can see myself logging in for next weeks match if we lose, if we win again… well whats the point right? I’d rather have close matches where everyone is trying their hardest all week and anyone could win then an easy steam role.
It is kind of saddening that even lions arch doesn’t have overflow anymore but at least our queues are instant
Analogy:
You know when you grind for an epic piece of gear and you just want to get it sooooo bad (it looks awesome and those Stats nomnomnom!). You spend a week or two getting mats, doing instances whatever you need. Finally you go to the merchant and get it and your like “OMG ever1 lookz and my phat lootz!” you prance around for a day and then your like wtf do i do now? Instant boredom… because you have nothing more to look forward too. I think this is what happened to a lot of players (including myself) they either transfered from HoD to get back that competitive game and bring a lower server up the ladder (wooo keaning), or haven’t logged in like myself.
Once again: I’d rather have close matches where everyone is trying their hardest all week and anyone could win then an easy steam role. I think this will all even out sooner or later (lock the transfers to high pop servers please!)
Good luck to everyone!

Kefka
Stop simply calling everyone short sighted and naive. If you don’t want people to post on the subject don’t post in the forums, you are just making yourself look worse and worse everytime you post.
Considering you didn’t address any of my points I know you didn’t even read the post, and simply jumped to your standard copy past defence.
This thread in summary:
- Someone explains how this will not work to fix the issue
- Kefka: Your wrong short sighted naive and ignorant. blah blah blah
- Another person explains how this will not work to fix the issue
- Kefka: Your wrong short sighted naive and ignorant. blah blah blah
Rinse and repeat.
Learn some respect or don’t post on the forums, this is a place for mature discussion which you may not be ready for.
Wow i just got called a “bully”, not sure why I’m bothering even responding.
The system will set you in a lower tier with other servers that have lower populations. the problem was the week long matches happened before the matches were even, and with the open free transfers guilds constantly moving around continue to mess up the balance. That is why people above said that they need to lock the transfers (especially to winning servers) so that the balancing can happen as intended. Also, the players will get tired of queues and switch down to losing servers where they get more access to play (this is why transfer to a low pop should remain free). This doesn’t “lock” is like Kefka said above, It allows the implemented balancing system to actaully work.
Chaster Sharpshooter. This is an open discussion where I clearly stated there are probably issues but it’s an idea.
- Point 2 and 4 are true, however, there could be a 20 minutes continuation after the keep is lost (he should be defending his guilds keep).
- In most match ups there a server controls 2 keeps and 2 towers per map (garrison, greenlake, hills, crags)(SM, lowlands, and the two towers). This means an average 4 commanders. 2 small groups (towers) and two large groups (keeps).
- Im not sure your point 3 is clear but i think this could be fixed by allowing the guild to set what level member can be commander in the guild settings. (officers and leader)
1. This will increase queue times and also punish high population servers. This fits into the common “Your winning so you should be punished”. Solutions should never punish players from either side.
2. They have shared queue times.
3. Encouraging PvE in a PvP zone… This will only benefit gold farmers
WHY would people get sPvP glory for queuing into WvW?!?!?! These are unrelated game types.
Vae that is true.
They need a re-work on that for sure. The guards should not despawn (Maybe a better cc mob in there too). Considering dolyaks can be downed in 5 seconds by a group of 4 the guards upgrade is pretty useless.
Possibly a max guild level (art of war or something) and guild size would be required to claim.
I like the idea of giving them the 15 supply buff. If you are outnumbered then you will not have as many people to run supply so allowing them to carry little extra shouldn’t hurt. Instead it will promote battles that are more fun.
Why not combine these two things?
I haven’t thought fully into this so please point out if there are some issues.
Here’s a rough idea:
When a guild claims a keep or tower they are allowed to assign a commander. the commander gets the blue symbol (when people join the commander they see all the people in the group on the map!!! seriously!!!)
Keep Commanders – group max 50 players.
Tower Commanders – group max 25 players.
-This would allow more casual servers who dont have many people farming 100 gold to have actual commanders on the field.
- Gives reasons other then points to cap more towers and keeps.
Possible flaws: random small guilds claiming keeps (that they didn’t really help take) and posting terrible commanders
Anyways, just another idea!
Many solutions to this are very punishing and game breaking. I am going to put forth a couple of ideas that will hopefully not be game breaking.
Note: if your server is completely outnumbered you should be losing (this will put you in a lower bracket and you will face more equal servers). That being said some things could be changed to make it more fun.
1. More Help From Creature Camps (ie: skritt, quagan, centaur etc…)
- When a server has a low population compared to the others (ie: against a server with high night presence) they will gain automatic help from the NPC groups (without needing to go out and do the event to get their help). The NPC’s send their standard guards and random attacks as already happens (The NPC camps cannot be recaptured by the dominating server during this time).
- To help when the population difference is very large the NPCS can scale in HP and DMG.
-This may be seen as PvE in a PvP zone but it would help the problem, With a decent organized attack force the other server can still take towers and roll over the NPCs.
2. Redo “outmanned”
buff for siege equipment – Players with outmanned get an extra added dmg when using seige equipment (this makes them unable to own groups in PvP), but if they are defending a tower and build for example arrow carts they will have a better chance at defending.
buff for door and wall hp – Simple, Door and Walls get a buff to HP for the outmanned server(s) so they take a little longer to break through (again an organized attack will still have no problem breaking through)
3. Automatic Dolyak guards – “The roads are dangerous!”
- During a population difference time, the supply camps will send Dolyaks with guards (like the upgrade). When populations rebalance the guards will no longer be sent (unless the camp was upgraded by a player).
-Note: You cannot make dolyaks carry more or siege equipment cost less during these times as this would be exploitable (ie: fill up your keeps at night, and build tons of seige then)
If anyone else has other ideas like this please post or comment. I think the point is to not make the losers become the winner, but to make sure that people playing during the “night-capping” hours have a good time. With small changes like this I think we will give them a better chance.
