I don’t really use the forums, much, so feel free to move this if it’s in the wrong place. Just adding my contribution to community feedback.
The term “Dragonhunter” feels out of place both in terms of how historically professions have been named and how the Guardian functions. Even if it has some lore-tie-in, it’s an obtuse-sounding amalgam.
Otherwise, keep up the good work, looking forward to seeing what’s next.
The game keeps putting me into Clocktower instances with anywhere from 5-40 seconds left.. Can we please tweak this?
As usual I went to purchase gems, going through the in-game window, then redirected to PayPal. Log in, it says $35, click accept. Check back in to GW, somehow it made the purchase twice. Checked e-mails, two separate e-mails/transactions, but both e-mailed in the same minute. Not a big issue since I’d probably buy more gems later on, but figured I’d let Anet know somehow the system made 2 transactions when I only did everything once.
I’m having this issue as well. I DC’d at least 10 times, either in Lion’s Arch or in dungeons. GW2 cannot connect to log-in server, etc. I tried running on Admin, turning firewalls off, etc.
The Guild Truncheon (scepter) costs 7 Commendations, which is the price for two-handed weapons (staff, bows, greatsword, hammer, etc.). It should be 5 Commendations, in-line with all over one-handed main-hand weapons (axe, sword, mace, etc.).
I understand the need for new content to keep players interested. However, currently the requirements for Guild Missions allows only access to people in large guild on the same server with lots of resources, and a willingness to do both PvE and PvP.
The sheer amount of influence needed is a huge obstacle for anyone in a small guild, a new guild, or even just a PvE focused guild. My guild is small, but we play daily, with every member having put at least 1500+ hours into the game since launch. We would like to participate, but are being barred because we didn’t do WvW, so lacked Art of War 5, and because we are a small, dedicated group versus a massive unorganized borg conglomerate who churns out influence points.
The implementation of the content is arbitrary and illogical, needing 5 tiers into a WvW Guild Research Branch in order to access open-world PvE content. Altogether, the half-million influence points just further drive people into clumps just to even access the content.
tl;dr I have to jump through hoops just to PLAY THE GAME.
@Celtic Lady
Yes – you are a casual player in a smaller guild, your gameplay will differ from a neckbeard in a virtual club of five thousand other neckbeards.
You want to talk about monotonous arguments based on flawed points there you go.
There’s a difference between a small guild and a casual guild. Like I said, every member in mine has 1500+ hours logged, and we play daily. Still being punished because we didn’t want 400 neckbeard full Explorer Rangers to rack up half a million Influence JUST TO PLAY the game.
On the german forum there’s a thread where a guild spend a whole lot of influence to get the bounty hunt missions now and when they started the mission the client crashed for everyone in the mission. So, apart from a poor design decision this patch also included a very bad implementation and QA. I don’t know if I should cry, laugh or both.
Just deserts
333 A karmic rain!
GW2, “Play how you want”. So long as it’s Anet’s way you want.
you are not forced to do guild missions
You are not forced to play the game. Except I want to, and all of this is prohibiting me from doing so unless I take some very drastic actions which alter the way I play and approach the game in general.
… are you serious?
So I guess what they decided not to mention was that you can do guild missions!…… if they’re the missions of a huge guild that can afford to start them. Awesome. Just awesome.
Hey guys, my guild of 10 people has finally gathered the 500,000 Influence needed to do these Guild Missions! Oh wait, it’s 2015 already.
That’s correct.
Well, time to find some random 495+ clump of unwashed masses. Hurray.
I think we had enough comments from the players around the forum. What I want to hear are comments from the devs. But my thread for that got deleted. But I still have my hopes that we’ll hear some official statements about this issue. It’s just difficult to understand their decision.
Or am I alone with these hopes?
I know where you’re coming from, I also saw many other players’ posts. Nevertheless, I think it’s important we speak up; these forums serve to allow feedback from the community, so why not voice our opinions? The more comments from players, the more confidently Anet can assess the situation.
Guild Missions – Newly released content to allow you and your guildmates to explore and roam the PvE world and play together.
Oh, except you need a big guild and a wall of 50,000 Mandatory Influence Points to even activate it.
Am I missing the logic behind this? I play everyday with my guildies, all of us are ~1500 hours or more over 6 months. WvW not that big a deal to us, and we all know each other. I was pretty excited, but this arbitrary placement of Guild Missions will delay us for a week or more so just simply from researching everything. I’d understand if it had ANYTHING AT ALL to do with WvW to warrant Tier 5 Art of War.
Comments, please. This is just my initial thoughts from a few summary posts, and what I’ve gathered from in-game. Any new information would be helpful, thanks.
My guild and I play everyday, and run several dungeons. Why are we being punished, here? Burying this behind 50,000 Influence points is just a hassle, and accomplishes nothing useful.
After running several routes of a dungeon, depending on the particular character and dungeon, I often find myself near capacity after 2 routes. To make the game more smoothly I invested in a Permanent Black Lion Merchant Express, and only after opening it did it now change into PERSONAL. The normal single-use one can be accessed by anyone, but this rare one cannot. I do not see the reasoning.
I suggest the Permanent Merchants be open to others, or at least add some NPCs to sell to within the dungeon upon entrance.
Bump. Ran into this problem. I use Stand Your Ground so allies don’t have to waste stamina dodging, but without an audio cue it’s kind of ineffective.
You’re assuming that I will run 5 characters through Fractals and thus becoming viable to join new groups. Instead this simply limits me to one clas. And as you say, new groups will suffer, because it’s clearly a gating mechanism. It’s already vastly more annoying to try to piecemeal 5 people together for your exact difficulty, praying your setup works for whatever random Fractal you get.
The entire design of this is counter-intuitive. You’re given 8 classes, but pretty much coerced into one unless you feel like GRINDING for all your characters just to give your party more options, and those options aren’t even reliable because of the whole random nature of the Fractals. I have no problem with a challenge, but there should be at least some alternatives. It’s pretty lopsided how these levels are designed, there should be alternative routes to the main objective, letting you decide what your party’s strengths are and choosing the approach, like the 3 routes of each of the real dungeons, where your class-skills and team synergy can actually be of use, rather than a roll-the-dice let’s see if our group gets the ones that suit us.

I’ve done only a few Fractals runs on my main, a Warrior, but like most dungeons I switch it up depending on whether the group needs more support, etc. Yet if I ever do want to use my Ele or Mesmer I have to grind to unlock those difficulties again.
Can the difficulty be account-based? I worked for them, after all. I made different classes to have more options to help my team, but it seems I’m just being punished for not only playing 1 class 100% of the time.
Couldn’t get into any overflow that wasn’t already done, gg.
I was overencumbered so I opened my inventory to delete something, then to get back to the Reclamation window I clicked it, except the only part showing was the Delete All button, and I deleted my Zhaitan tokens.. These windows if they’re behind another should be brought to the foreground with the first click, or at least a secondary Are You Sure? would be helpful.
It is partly my fault, but I’m just used to clicking on things out of focus to bring them to focus, not just a immediate DELETED.
Thanks
It’s 6 points higher from 63-68 on secondary attribute 5/62 = 8% increase
It’s 3% higher from 7%-10% on primary 3/7 = ~43% increase
It’s higher without needing an upgrade slot.
Now apply that to all 6 pieces of armor and jewelry, and you’ll liekly end up with 100’s more overall stats wearing full Ascended.
The power/precision/magic find is just one example, most likely.
Legendaries are not better than Exotics at the moment.
No one is worried about this “God 1 hit everything” gear. It’s the principle of the game, and a sign of things to come.
You can be a warrior doing thousands of damage with Hundred Blade going 20/20/20/0/10 with 2,100 toughess (Full Knight’s). Just under 50% crit and over 3300 armor. Healing Signet and Adrenal should keep you afloat nicely since everything tickles.
Seems like a valid approach, will have to wait till 15th release for more details.
Yeah, I’m not sure what all these people are complaining about. I love this game, and my two favorite classes (ranger and necro) seem to be the two most hated classes.
Awh~ Hugsies for your necro. So much health and life force, very beefy. Doom in Death Shroud can be cast while stunned (no cast animation) and goes through Defiant. Converts boons into conditions on enemies and conditions into boons on allies. Very useful!
Rangers – usually sit in the back, not given a lot of support tools. Mine feels worthless, maybe use spirit to res a couple downed people once in a while. Healing Spring every other minute. Never use mine for dungeons, never like having them in dungeons, but it’s not entirely their fault.
Yes, I was thoroughly disappointed and decided to read up the forums after the announcement. First time posting after nearly 800 hour of play.
All I can say is, I do not have 300 gold to buy a million Greatswords to throw into the forge for a CHANCE to get one. I’m looking forward to what they come up with. Because honestly.. if you can get all the things needed to craft one, you deserve it.. It’s hard enough without the precursor being 3-400 gold being tossed around by the super-rich.
I feel like screaming at you people…
Why, exactly? Others opinions aren’t going to hurt you. I don’t really feel like screaming at you even though you completely fail to understand my point of view too, because it wouldn’t help us understand each other at all.
We have all had some excellent tantrums and counter tantrums about everything and everyone has got nice and uptight so it might be a good time to chill out a bit around here.
Because you haven’t even seen the content or how its attained. Think of it mathematically. You know you’ve went from point A (fine) to B (rare) to C (exotic), its taken you factors of X and Y to achieve each step lets say time and skill. At this point all we actually know is there is a fourth step D now… which given new content was always going to happen. (Could be worse it could have been a level cap increase :p)
What most people miss is that we don’t know the (X) time and (Y) skill that’s going to be required to achieve each piece which will ultimately decide the gear treadmill’s impact.
I’m not annoyed you have an opinion, just that your opinion is based on factitious conclusions. Take a step back and realise we don’t have the big picture.
It doesn’t matter if it takes a day or a month, it’s a principle. It’s not the leak we fear, it’s the flood that follows. Its very existence denotes a gear treadmill, and if it’s as simple as clicking a button and BAM you get free Ascended armor, then there would be no need for it in the first place. As Lindsey stated it was to cater to the more “hardcore” segment of players, so you can likely bet it’s stupidly inefficient to get. I heard you like Ascended armor, so I designed this Fractals dungeon that you NEED to have Ascended armor to run to get more Ascended armor.
Stats =/= progression. You can expand the game through story, mechanics, professions, etc. This is simply UNNECESSARY, regardless of how trivial the stat (8% increase power/precision in that example, compounded by all jewelry/armor) is or how long it takes to acquire.
Yes but instead of fighting them you have to wear full Ascended armor then zerg their forum with negative feedback till the Mursaat simply give up and go home.
I’ve read the forums once maybe twice just to find the thread on the HoM rewards. I’m only here now because I feel this this change bodes ill news. Am I still part of the overreacting 1% who troll forums? I think such a massive influx of negative response is a clear indication of things to come.
If you want an endless grind for numbers go play real life, there is no level cap.
You did never played Guild Wars, did you?
Hehe, so true
People have been trained to associate gear = progression. GW1 somehow accomplished Prophecy, Factions, Nightfall, Eye of the North all on your level 20 character.
Mind = blown.
I know I am! And so are my friends who have gotten very board with Guild Wars 2 over the past few weeks!
For us our endgame has turned into nothing but Farming Orr for our legendary’s but now we have something new to work forward to AND a new area/dungeon to explore!
I have seen a lot of the knee jerk reactions posts of how much people can’t stand change so this thread is for people who are truly happy with the upcoming content and changes!
Thank You ArenaNet!!
You should learn to read better. People’s issue is not with change, it’s with the disturbance of the tiers. I’m sure no one is complaining about new content, it’s the fact that the new content has a built-in geargrind treadmill.
If a player cannot find an end-game right now, one more tier is not going to magically convince them. Well said, thumbs up to you!
Finish the cycle of Eternal Return~
I actually convinced a friend to buy and play the game because he is busy, but could play from time to time. I’m afraid now every time he logs on I’ll just have to point him at some new benchmark gear. R.I.P.
Winter is coming. Brace yourselves for a world of hurt.
Need more details. Are you a warrior with 20 points into your Precision tree? There’s a second Major Trait that you might be getting stacks of Might from. Or do you literally have 10 more Might every time you kill a foe?
Sounds like, sometimes you get Ascended, sometimes you get one with a free Infusion in it. I could be wrong.
If I wanted an endless grind for numbers, I would just play real life.
It’s all just rumors and whispers and speculations, but there are some key pieces of evidence we can use. I can’t fathom how increased stats on Ascended will incur a GOOD ending, but I’m not saying throw the baby out with the bath water.. We will see.. but as it stands.. I’m hesitant and uninspired. Was quite looking forward to Lost Shores till i read about this new shenanigan
One set of gem armor for each armor class, and two set of town clothing? It’s quite underwhelming for a free-to-play game; an untapped market! You could have so much more of my money, and use it to work on some real ways of expanding the game, please. You want new skills, mechanics, professions, races, story, continents, whatever.
Better yet, make a Gemstore item that let’s you buy votes to vote against this Ascended implement..
All this is speculation in regards to the Ascended, but the lack of things to buy with Gems is a real concern. Profane armor is curiously odd, but.. not even to warrant a purchase.
Rest in peace my love.. It was nice while it lasted..
I bought the Witch and the Mad King outfit.. More things like that I wouldn’t mind shelling out money for since I enjoyed the game. But.. Grinding better gear for the sake of being able to grind EVEN better gear is.. distasteful. I have no problem with seeing Exotic for the months/years I played this game. GW1 had progression without resorting to this.
I feel like someone I loved just told me it was all a lie.. I was mad for a minute, but now just.. sad.. wanting it to not be true..
Read all the articles, re-read Lindsey’s post a few times; as it stands, nay. Awaiting release for confirmation.
You made 3 expansions to Prophecies by adding skills, story, classes heroes, content. I purchased, played, and thoroughly enjoyed all of them without needing to grind for new gear. Now, two months in and all of my characters have to get Ascended just to stay up to date.. I will reserve judgment until more detail is released, but at the moment I am very concerned and disappointed. Was actually quite excited to read news about Lost Shores until the Ascended part. 700 Hours later, the dream has come to an end~
