Yep, I am a genius. The #2 skill on the Downed bar was my idea too. RITZ FOR SKILL DESIGN PRESIDENT 2012!
The Sigil of Perception can give you over +10% crit chance if you have all 25 stacks. That’s 250 extra precision, each 1% crit chance takes 21.16 precision. So really, you’re getting about 11.8% which is not bad at all. I imagine in a place you get downed a lot (dungeons, WvW, PvP, etc) that it might be better to go with the +5% crit chance (which is what I use).
Precision is a must have for a Condition Mesmer. In my opinion, it is more important than Power. It increases the chance of your clones causing bleeding and it still increases your damage output as well as giving you an option to use a plethora of “On Critical hit” sigils on your weapons.
I currently use the one that has a 30% chance to cause a lightning strike when I crit. And I get it often enough to get spammed with that kitten error message caused by the 5 second cooldown.
I also like the word Befuddling, that’s also a good word.
The answer to this problem is simple, turn the trait Sharper Images into a trait known as Baffling Images. Then replace the Bleeding in the description and functionality into Confusion.

Take Root is nice, 5 turrets that cause bleeding and a bit of damage but also take aggro? That’s not bad in my opinion.
I wanted to name mine Rotten Tomatoes but someone took it. I settled for Olive Oil on my thief. My Sylvari mesmer is Devoted to Deceit though, not really lore based but Devoted is a name I often use in my MMOs.
Oh yes, and we don’t like to share members. Representation is required unless you have a good reason not to.
First off, yes, TEH is spelled correctly. Someone in GW1 had THE Dark Empire so we’ve been TEH ever since.
Currently our membership is around 35 members, we’re looking for avid World vs. World players! Particularly players with Ventrilo and who can avoid acting like a 12 year old who spends their time spouting racial slurs on XBOX Live. Age is not a concern as long as you can follow that last part… We have a Facebook group and a web site that usually I only use to post little tools and things that I make on (currently working on a great index/guide for Chefs). There are no forums on it, usually that’s what the Facebook group is for.
If you’re interested send me an in-game mail at Devoted to Deceit (or I suppose you can use the tag here to find me)!
Nothing that would cause crippling, but I tried replicating it on a few enemies just now and I couldn’t see any crippling. Maybe it was my imagination.
Ah, my mistake :P
Even so, I still don’t see any problems with any of them. Even Diversion can be useful with Sword clones, though I understand the problems with ranged clones. This one is the only one I can see that needs fixing. Mind Wrack is a great AoE spike and Cry of Frustration is great in WvW against mobs of human players. I just think that they shouldn’t be thought of as skills that can be used to maximum effect ALL the time. They’re much more like utility skills.
It’s not like any of the other professions have strong F skills I would say our overpowered compared to ours. In fact, with turrets Engineers can only blow up 1 thing at a time with their F skills and it doesn’t even run at your target and Rangers only have commands for their pets. I would say we have it better than them in most cases.
And to edit that last part, the Berserker often hits 3 times per attack (which means 3 times every 7 seconds) and that’s assuming all 3 hit. And it does not increase in damage per attack. With Mind Wrack, damage is multiplied for each clone AND damage increases with each clone. So it’s like adding then multiplying to the damage rather than just multiplying the damage. Mind Wrack does LOADS more damage with 3 clones than a Berserker.
Actually, at max output, a single clone shattering does as much damage as a Phantasmal Berserker’s attack. Sure you don’t get the Cripple out of it but that fact of the matter is it does plenty more damage.
I decided I would see which weapon would stack the most bleeding with my Sharper Images trait and I noticed that when using the staff I was causing Cripple randomly. I wasn’t destroying my clones, I wasn’t dodge rolling to create new clones, the mob wasn’t killing any of my clones so I have no idea how I was causing Cripple.
I was just straight attacking it with Winds of Chaos on myself and my various clones and causing Cripple. Anyone else noticed this? Am I missing something?
I can remake clones like they’re nothing. I shatter occasionally to get a spike of damage and they’re VERY useful for AoE. In fact, I often lead with a Mind Wrack or a Cry of Frustration on enemies. I think they have their place, again, it’s all about timing and using your skills when they are needed. I don’t just cast Chaos Armor or Time Warp all willy-nilly.
Shatters are mostly situational anyways. And I actually find Cry of Frustration to be very useful against bosses with obvious skill use and on human players in WvW. Traited correctly that’s 6 Confusion applied to everyone within a small area. That’s pretty good damage.
Perhaps try using the 1-handed sword and kiting to keep your clones between you and your enemy. That may help your enemy to leave you alone or at least make it easier to escape from him as your clones are now body blocking him. I usually jump into melee range when Blurred Frenzy has recharged and then jump back out once I’ve used it.
Confusion stacking builds aren’t really that good in PvE, but in WvW they can cause much butthurt to the enemy team. This is especially true if you’re causing it through AoE glamours and through Cry of Frustration. Pops that Confusion on LOTS of people all at once.
For PvE, you might want to retrait for other conditions such as bleeding.
Sword/Pistol is my favorite combo, I roll Staff in my other set.
Nothing beats rolling around blowing up your melee clones and causing havoc with all of those “clone death” traits

Debilitating Dissipation:
In an AoE this will grant one of the following on clone death only:
3xWeakness (5s)
3xBleeding (5s)
Weakness (3s)
This is what I came to this thread hoping to find, thank you sir.
My Mesmer is running so fairly common armor (only the shoes so far are exotic) but it spices up nicely with some Midnight Ice and Night Iris
