or just stop hoarding loot?
<—- faints
I sympathize with Mike and the rest of the ArenaNet team. As a software dev I know how much pressure there is to meet a promised delivery date. It’s very hard to take an objective view, especially if there is a chance that last minute heroics will win through. Let’s face it, we’re all gamers here, including the dev team and we WANT to pull through and beat the boss.
But sometime your DP is at max, your armor is broke, you’re out of cons and you have to /resign. I’m sure today feels sucky for everyone at ArenaNet and the team but we’ll all get over it. I’m not sure what to say if you took PTO today because you just HAD to be first in the raid. That sucks too and I’m not going to say “don’t do it again”, because if you did that it’s because you REALLY, REALLY wanted to get in there because you love playing this game.
All the best to the ArenaNet team and hope tomorrow feels better than today.
Thank you so very much for such warm and wonderful comments.
Have you seen the 4th Anniversary Video? I love what our team has to say!
Many thanks to you and the rest of the ArenaNet team current and past. GW1 was my first online multiplayer game and GW2 is my gaming home. Now my daughters have started playing and love the game too. Big props to you Gaile for all your work in both games and for having a seemingly infinite amount of patience with the community!
Confirmed. Just found myself back in LA with all Shatterer loot gone. Daily achievement rolled back too.
This was going to be the only way I was going to get the meta achievement based on my play time, but last two have not counted for me either.
Lost count of how many times my Guild+PUG group failed at Frizz last night – but we were getting sooo close. I think this is content that some people will get right away and others (like me) will have to take the time to learn. I’m OK with that. I’m just an average player and I expect some stuff to be hard for me. Based on some earlier posts I suspect that having a strong group is a must though. Once players start getting downed in the lab it puts too much pressure on the remaining players and cascade failure will probably follow.
I’m having a flashback to the 55 Monk build that could solo the Great Destroyer in GW1.
Nine hours from bug raised to patched. Not bad, not bad at all.
“Black Lion Trading Company Gem Store
Fixed a bug where some players using the Makeover Kit were not getting the face they selected.”
“Oh come on, they’re only chickens. How hard can this be?”
#4: Gate before final boss in Snowblind Fractal
Confirmed. I was stuck in the wall last night. Couldn’t go back to touch the banner, or forward into the cave. When it happened before I was able to dodge/jump out once, but this time I was stuck until the boss went down.
Were I able, I’d propose a 30-minute Cease-fire this evening, such that various members of each server can share some food, or in respect for Christmas. Much like has happened in history in the past. World War 2, for example, when the men in the trenches stopped the fighting for Christmas.
There might have been an example of this in WW2, but the most famous example was in 1914, during WW1.
Apparently some of us who DID open the chest got the rewards via mail as well.

You really should read the EULA that comes with software you purchase. You will note that although you are buying the media (e.g. the physical DVD if there is one) you only license the right to use the software. This is much the same as music – just because you “buy” a song it doesn’t give you ownership of that song. Otherwise you could just let anyone listen to it and look how well that worked out for Napster.
In other news, Pyre Fierceshot woke up this morning and found that he had been sacked from GW1. He’s currently wandering the Mists trying to find a way to email Gaile.
I also could not add a non-stacked Killstreak booster.

Translation (especially translation of small snippets) is an extremely complex process because you always have to translate in context.
This. I have sympathy with wanting to avoid doing the localization too often as it is a lot of effort and needs a lot of checking. However it shouldn’t fall off the to-do list completely either.
You know these are not actual chests with actual items in them, right? I suspect that when you open one you get a roll on the loot table at that moment.
Sorry if that rocks anyone’s world.
What do you mean? AN can absolutely stop this and it happens in many other games. You log out or completely disconnect, your avatar still stays in game for 10-20 seconds, you get the kill/loot and they get the penalty. I immagine AN will make it so at some point.
GW1 has a 10 minute disconnect timer (in PvE at least) where your toon stays in game on an abrupt d/c. I know because I healed a buddy’s toon for nearly the whole of that time at the end of The Deep so that he could reconnect and get his chest loot. For WvW I think a combat logout should work the same way.
This is a good thread. Let’s try not to get it locked.
@Raffie. One better – I’m working on a SoR-SF-DH combat schedule for the next two months. That way we can all plan our game time and no-one will feel left out or hard done by. Will 2 hour battles be good or should it be 3?
I think the OP is quite clear and one of my guild mates mentioned he had this last night too.
For guilds I would like to see the ability to use influence to buy a temporary Commander-like status (Captain?) which would allow for a large squad (~50) to be created. Ideally these captains would then be able form a party with other captains to lead a more structured campaign.
Perhaps a restriction could be that you have to be representing that guild to be in the squad, so that the guild gets to recoup the influence if they play well.
