Thank you for typing this out, Chaba. We need more well thought out posts like this. We need to not get so granular and focus on the 10,000 ft view for WvW. Let’s bake in some of these ideas and see what comes out.

A shift in the meta would be nice to see Areanet.

Here’s a solution: Abbreviate the server names ex “JQ Gold Invader [Guild Tag]”. Do that for anyone on a linked server as well. That helps keep names short for the enemy servers so they can guesstimate numbers better and it keeps the server pride people happy that they can rep their server again. Win/win.

Instead of polling players, why can’t Anet come into teamspeak of different WvW guilds and ask our opinions/suggestions for making WvW better? I think you’d be able to capture a lot of the issues more clearly and easily if someone explained them. I think this would be a great start to trying to improve our beloved game mode. Obviously not all suggestions and opinions will be correct or implemented but I bet you’ll get a better idea of what WvW “fights” guilds value and what more “ppt” oriented guilds value in terms of WvW.
It doesn’t have to be an hour long interview but just a quick 5-15 minute convo from a few members to get an idea of what people who play WvW very regularly would like to see changed or implemented to better their experiences. If Anet needs a list of some noteable guilds to talk to then I’d be happy to point them in the right direction.

SMC doesn’t need siege or cloaking waters or bombs falling out of the sky or perma chill for an extended period of time. Make this game semi great again and adjust SMC.

I’m looping back in my $.02 for Anet to take a concrete look at this and develop some possible avenues we can travel down. Again, we aren’t asking to stop global warming just to stop one iceberg from melting.

Just touching base with this thread and Anet so we can put this one to bed.

Thanks Teej for bringing this issue to the light. Hopefully Anet can circle back on this issue. No need to cut down the whole forest, just focus on the individual trees. Net net this would be a great change for the game. But we need to figure out what’s on Anets plate for WvW. The better we can understand their capacity the better we can asess what’s the longest pole in the tent here. After all, we are all just tools in a tool box trying to figure out what is mission critical.

I honestly can’t tell if OP is trolling really well or actually thinks that marks not popping on downs is an actual bug..

News flash OP, if you hit your skills on the enemies then you will get bags. It sounds like you just miss skills if you are getting a minimum number of bags.

Hello Anet,

First off thank you for the expansion. As a guy who has only spent time in sPvP and WvW it was weird doing PvE but it wasn’t as bad as I thought.

Our guild has spent a lot of gold and resources and time and this morning we finally got to Arena Restoration 2 and can officially start GvGing in an instanced arena. I had a bug to tell you about and a possible suggestion for the arena.

The bug: there were 3 of us in our arena this morning, 2 on red and 1 on blue team. As we were messing around I popped Spectral Walk before being punted off the platform. I reactivated the ability and was able to come back to the top of the platform but noticed something weird. The other teammate that was on my team (I was on red with a guildie) had turned red and I was able to attack him. The next weird thing was that I was able to attack both players (blue and red team) but they weren’t able to damage me back. It seems like I was in some sort of spectator bug and was invincible but I could still damage both sides. That might be something to look in to.

The suggestion: As a person who enjoys watching and playing in GvGs, I loved when a guild from my server was fighting because it was easy to distinguish between server mates and enemy’s. My suggestion would be to make the colors for spectators of the teams to red and blue so it’s easier to distinguish between 2 guilds instead of just a sea of red names swarming.

Please Anet, add in this feature. For WvW, colored commander tags really don’t make a difference because it won’t change anything. There is already a join squad function for commanders and that’s all that should be needed.

Please give us guild only commander tags, it’s been something that we’ve been asking for since the beginning of the game. If you can’t tell, this text is pure desperation at this point.

Its the only good MMO out right now and WvW is a great game mode with GW2’s dynamic combat style.

Not enough attention to it from the developers. Just waiting my month or two for Archeage to come out.

I have to have some variety if Anet won’t provide it for me.

Any server you go to you will face blobs and anyone that tells you otherwise is a liar. Any server in t2 or t1 has roamers along with bigger skill groups so you honestly can’t go wrong with any of the 6 servers.

If you have ever read a single other WvW post in this section you will see that they all have the same basic question, “Why doesn’t Anet focus on WvW at all?” Because they don’t. Just learn to deal with it and wait for other games to come out like the rest of us.

I’ve been playing hardcore WvW for a long time now and really enjoy the whole blob busting aspect, with occasional GvG’s.

I main necro with over a thousand hours on it, rank 550ish~ WvW with about 45k kills. I also have an 80 warrior, thief, Ele and Mesmer.

This game has become extremely boring so I am just seeing what offers are out there. I have GvG experience as well and have footage of my gameplay if needed.

I play PST during NA Prime about 6PM-9ish PM about 5-7 days a week. Looking mainly at Tier 3-Tier 1 for now.

I really liked your idea about a city-style map. I think that would actually be a nice new change. As for most of your other ideas, it prevents guilds from recruiting people because they wouldn’t be able to join their server if its full, and it prevents friends from playing with each other too much. But I do really like that city-style map idea.

Underwater Operations is currently more than just a guild to everyone in it; we are a community that is eager to learn from each other and help each other grow. Please end lockouts for WvW tonight’s reset. There should be no more lock outs the moment this season ends.

If I’m locked out for transferring the day before the season ends for a whole week, I will have some choice words for anet. I will let you all know when reset hits NA tonight if I am still locked out or not.

So if someone were to transfer this week (before Friday), would said person be locked out of WvW next match up when the Season is over (on Friday)?

Why don’t you put what you want to focus on, ex WvW, spvp, PvE, so guilds on your server can see if you are a good fit for them. Also roster size, what times you play and what kind of people you are looking for can help. That would get a lot more responses than just “Looking to join any guild that will talk to me.”

To settle this matter for once and for all, and to not start a ‘who did what to whom’ argument, I was hoping ANet could officially just answer the following question:

Rule 22 of the Guild Wars 2 Rules of Conduct states:

While participating in Player-vs-Player (PvP) gameplay, you will not participate in any form of match manipulation. Match manipulation is defined as any action taken to fix or manipulate the outcome of a match or alter or manipulate the rankings or ratings of the ladder.

Given that WvW is clearly PvP gameplay, is the current and widespread practice of “2v1” (i.e. collusion between two teams to the detriment of a third and, it follows, manipulation of the outcome of the match) a violation of the Rules of Conduct?

That’s it. A simple question with hopefully a very simple, one word, answer.

If that fact is true, than agreed. However My suggestion would be to use meladru Runes with Poultry and leek soup! Each person can use these and effectively reduce how often they get CC’ed by condis (Improved more with certain class traits). As far as Stuns go I believe every class has a skill that either grants stability or breaks stuns. As it stands now I’m personally satisfied where the game is at in relation to CC and condis. However come April 15th we will see if things change.

Okay so by your theory, every single class should have to use melandru runes with poultry and leek soup to counter being immobilized to death? So all 8 classes that can have millions of possibilities of builds are forced to use melandru and certain foods just to counter a specific spammable condition in order to not die?

Is it just me or has the /w command been extraordinarily slow? I go to whisper someone and first off I can’t even double click their name on my friends list to whisper. Then i manually type in /w Username and type and send my message and it does not appear to be sent to them until about 10-20 minutes later.

Is anyone else having trouble with this where whispers aren’t sent for a long period of time?

But just as a bit of an fyi, DBs rating is massively inflated due to their sucking all the rating out of SoR. DB isn’t anywhere close to being able to compete in T2, it just looks like it from the false ratings currently.

Couldn’t agree more. Besides most of DB seems to WvW only when we are winning by 100k+ after reset. Our REAL rating with an even match up would be around t4. Believe me, being on DB, I hate our fairweathers just as much as every other server does.

-Only que times during NA prime normally on EB, but reset can be qued for a few maps. It honestly really depends how the matchup is going, if we are doing well the fairweathers come out and que up, if not, it’s not hard to join any map.
-WvW in the night is pretty active I guess, I don’t WvW during the morning or afternoon so I can’t speak about that.

I am looking for a hardcore WvW guild on Blackgate.

I recently came back to GW2, more specifically WvW after a 9 month break and things are pretty different. I was in Black Talons [BT] in FA and then BG before I took my break and I am looking for a similar guild.

Being away for so long, I don’t know which guilds are really into hardcore WvW anymore so I thought I would use the forums. Any suggestions or ideas would be very much appreciated.

To clarify something: this does not actually bother me, or hurt my feelings, it’s more that I see people try WvW, have this happen to them, and then see them never come back.

ANet seems to be trying to foster a different sort of environment from most MMO’s. People get suspended or even banned all the time for spewing hate speech, and the result has been that map chat is more or less free of that sort of thing now.

It seems like the game could draw more people in if they also fostered more sportsmanship-like attitudes in WvW.

Imagine the following scenario: you’re watching a football game, and some guy breaks a leg in a tackle. Someone on the other side sees this, walks over and laughs, then sits on his face. Does that strike you as the way anyone should act?

If people leave WvW for someone /siting on their corpse then they shouldn’t be on the internet anyway. And bringing in football to try and get your point across? That is comparing apples to the sun, completely different and totally unrelated things.

Really awesome fights tonight on SBI BL. Back and forth constantly between Mag and CD and lots of open field battles. This should be a great match-up!

I for one do not care about the score nor have I ever cared. I come out everyday to WvW for one reason, to kill people. It shouldn’t matter who has “better night coverage” or “zergs” as long as you get the chance to kill things that is what WvW is really all about. So please, stop comparing, stop complaining, stop bragging and just enjoy WvW for what it is; a place to kill people.

Or they could implement a duel feature not just in a server. You could request a duel anywhere but cities and then just duel it right there instead of having to go to a spvp server to duel. But yes I do agree a dueling feature would be nice to see.
