Just hit 30 on my Mesmer, next highest is a level 9 alt.
So if the game is all about aesthetics why do they make it such a godkittenchore to make yourself look pretty? Why would I bother? I’m all for an aesthetics based game but it makes no sense for me to care enough to do the same dungeon 70 times. Like I said, I don’t have time. I CAN’T play the game how they want me to.
You don’t have time to time to grind and you’re complaining that there’s nothing worth grinding for. Makes sense.
I also have a blank screen on the Sell Your Stuff tab, the other tabs are fine. Been this way for about 3 days.
I know the min req for mac is 10.7 but i was wondering if maybe it could run on 10.6.8?

Gw2 doesn’t run on mac. You need windows installed on your Mac to run it. A dual boot system is best rather than something like Parralels.
Edit: my bad. They just added a Mac version. No idea then, good luck!

Keep the useless rubbish out of public chats. If you want to speak your mind use your guild chat. There’s enough nonsense in /map as it is
Oh and to the OP, upgrade the processor and GPU as much as you can (an i7 extreme can be prohibitive in the cost>performance ratio though). You can always self install an SSD later – so I might skip that initially in your configuration. Chip installation/ repasting is trickier too unless you’re a hobbyist.
No problem there, I’ve built a few desktops in my time. But alas it’s too late to make any changes as I’ve placed my order. In hindsight I probably should have dropped the SSD in favor of a better GPU or CPU, ah well! At least the Sagers are easy to upgrade unlike most laptops.
Sager. You can go high end and get an i7 with – possibly dual – 7970s or 680ms. Or mid range with a top tier card and a standard HDD. Lots of options, excellent build quality. I find Nvidia cards trump AMD this generation. The 7970 has just too many issues with heat (80-90 degrees) and Enduro utilization. I paid the extra $200 to have it swapped out and my temps never go over 70 with a full 60 FPS at all times save WvW (45 FPS) and everything cranked to max. 7970s currently don’t have any driver support either, four months in which is ridiculous.
i7 extreme
420 GB SSD
32 GB RAM
680m, 4 GB(Paid just over 2 grand. You can get good power for less if you’re on a budget, you make the machines yourself)
The one I’ve ordered is a Sager (a lower spec one than yours though). I guess the video card will be a bottleneck if anything is, but I can upgrade it.
I’ve had gaming desktops in the past, but right now it’s not an option as I travel a lot and want to be able to play when I’m away.
I never play for more than 1-2 hours at a time so it should be OK. The Macbook has handled it well so far.
I’m interested in hearing what laptop you are running GW2 on, especially if you can run it at full settings?
Currently I have a Macbook Pro which runs well on Medium but is unplayable with everything set to High.
So I’m about to get the following but I’m not even sure it’ll run with EVERYTHING set to High.
Clevo Horize P170HM-SE Notebook PC
Intel I7-2630QM 2.0Ghz Processor Quad Core,
nVidia Geforce GTX560M 1.5GB GDDR5 Dedicated Graphics
16GB 1333Mhz RAM,
Crucial M4 128GB SSD 550/175 Mbs Read/Write,
500GB Hybrid Momentus XT
<— would also like to know
No way. I quit WoW about 2 years ago and don’t miss a thing about it. GW2 is great for a casual like me.
Asura weild them best.
I’d love to see ground mounts (not flying). Even with a minor speed increase it would be fun.
well I was thinking of something else for the 3rd hand
Nice thread, thanks!
no, they’re not doing anything wrong.
Just ordered a new Clevo 17inch Laptop

I’m hoping it’ll run the game on max settings, the GPU might be a bit of a bottleneck though so I’ll probably have to turn off supersampling.
Anyway, we’ll see when it arrives.

Stopped reading after terrible title
It was a well-written post by someone whose first language probably isn’t English. Why dismiss an intelligent post just because a person doesn’t speak YOUR language perfectly?
2011 Macbook Pro running Windows 7. Runs pretty well on Medium with animation and textures on high.

Just posting to tag this thread, tonnes of useful info to read again later, thanks all! (I’m a low-level Mesmer and loving it at the moment).
I’m glad Anet are banning people who say things that shouldn’t be said in public.
Protect yourself, create a brand new email address for GW2

Just a quick tip to help protect yourself from hackers. Create a brand new email address with a strong password (preferably a password you don’t use for anything else) and use that to login to the game with.
Use the address ONLY for GW2 and don’t share it with anyone.
Your level of protection has now increased significantly.
It would also be wise to create a brand new email address and use it solely for gw2.
Any chance 'reserved' GW1 names are gonna be freed any time soon?

Can someone pls explain to me the requirement of using reserved names from gw1? None of the names I used in gw1 were available in gw2 even though I linked my accounts. I have not played gw1 for years and dont have all the expansions, is that the reason?
