Is there a reason why I stop auto-attacking after using Axe #3? Or bug?
Friends. But unique to GW2, design philosophy and the amazing technology supporting it.
I feel like the healing skills for the legends have such trivial energy usage and are unnecessary. They already have cooldowns and it feels bad to not have your heal available. I don’t think any other profession has situations where their heal isn’t available. Thoughts?
The only “interesting” thing I found with having heals cost energy is moving Ventari’s tablet to gain 2 might for using energy, but even then it’s lacking (8 stacks max).
Have the traits that give +20% recaharge to fire/air/water/earth skills to also affect the corresponding attunement’s cooldowns. What do you think?
How do we unlock the PvP track? Is it automatically unlocked?
Hey just to let you know I think I found the source of my problem. Apparently, Overwolf is blocking something. Once I remove Overwolf or refocus it, my double clicks work.
This is happening to me, too. Was there a patch? My game was fine last night. Now I can’t double click, and when my mouse button is down ,the keyboard inputs are sometimes lost.
I know you can get the item icons from the item_details, but what about UI icons? Are those available? Or skill icons, etc.?
Perhaps we can have retaliation damage also scale with toughness.
c/p from my post in guardian forums.
- Glacial Heart tooltip says 50% chance on crit, but I think it’s actually 100%.
- Inscribed Removal doesn’t update Signet of Resolve. Or maybe it doesn’t work?
- Perfect Inscription updates Signet tooltips, but the improvements are not listed in blue highlights like other improvements. Also, the tooltips for buff icons for Signets are not update for Signet of Judgement. It still says 10% reduction. The tooltip for for Signet of Resolve still says 1 condition every 10 seconds (no change).
- Zealous Blade doesn’t update any of the GS tooltips. Similarly, Powerful Blades doesn’t update any Spear or Sword tooltips.
- Writ of Persistence does not update tooltip for Symbol of Protection on Hammer. It also only adds 1 more second, instead of 2.
- Shattered Aegis tooltip doesn’t say how many targets it affects.
- Supreme Justice does not update the Virtue tooltips. Virtue of Justice’s tooltip and icon tooltip both still says “every fifth attack” (instead of fourth). Virtue of Justice’s tooltip still shows original burn durations (4 seconds instead of 5 seconds for active).
- Absolute Resolution does not update heal amount for Virtue of Resolution. I also noticed Battle Presence’s tooltip shows the upgraded heal amount in the tooltip (same heal as Absolute Resolution). If this is intentional, then Absolute Resolution does not update the tooltip for Battle Presence.
- Indomitable Courage does not update the Virtue tooltips. Virtue of Courage’s tooltip and icon tooltip both still says “every forty seconds” (instead of thirty).
- Permeating Wrath does not update the Virtue tooltip. Virtue of Justicec still shows 4 second burn duration on active (instead of 1 seconds burn duration with 5 targets). Funny enough, Supreme Justice updates the tooltip for Permeating Wrath, though (showing 1.5 seconds).
- Not sure if intentional, but Zealot’s Defense animation seems off. The “wall” that you produce is no longer in front of you. It’s off to the side.
- Spirit Weapon Mastery doesn’t update the recharge times on Spirit Weapon tooltips.
- Wrathful spirits doesn’t update the damage on Spirit Weapon tooltips.
- Master of Consecrations updates the tooltip for Sanctuary, but lists 8 second duration twice.
Edit: Formatting.

Glacial Heart tooltip does indeed display the internal cooldown. It’s in the upper right like all skill cooldowns. It’s 30 seconds. Tested in the Mist. Still 30 seconds. The tooltip says 50% chance on crit, which is a lie. It’s still 100%.

Humble Victor, Risk Taker, Triple Threat, High Stakes Gambler
Traits: Fiery Wrath, Scepter Power, Kindled Zeal, Justice is Blind (minor), Blind Exposure, Radiant Fire, Right-Hand Strength
Skills: Wall of Reflection, Judge’s Intervention, Renewed Focus
Weapons: Sword/Torch, Scepter/Focus
Gambits: All but Crowd Favorite
Tactic: Start with Sword2 and use Wall of Reflection to reflect his first volley. Use Torch[4,4] to get huge burns on him and keep attacking him. He will teleport behind you on the right. Immediately, Sword2 to him and continue attacking him. Once he volleys, use Sword3. Next, he will teleport to the far end of the room and snipe you. Use Judge’s Intervention followed by VoJ (for the blind). Keep attacking. If he teleports again, use Sword2 and repeat the process. If he teleports too far away and your Judge’s Intervention is on cd, use Renewed Focus to dodge the shot.
Humble Victor, Risk Taker, Triple Threat, High Stakes Gambler (Tactic 2)
Traits: Fiery Wrath, Scepter Power, Kindled Zeal, Justice is Blind (minor), Blind Exposure, Radiant Fire, Right-Hand Strength
Skills: Wall of Reflection, Judge’s Intervention
Gambits: All but Squeamish
Tactic: Wait for Deadeye to teleport onto you. Then use Wall of Reflection and DPS him down. If he teleports again, use Judge’s Intervention to catch him, followed by VoJ to blind the kill shot. If he’s still not finished, follow him with Sword2 and finish him.
Light Up the Darkness
Traits: Justice is Blind, Superior Aria, Pure of Voice, Vengeful, Absolute Resolution
Skills: Shelter, Stand Your Ground, Hold the Line, Save Yourselves, Renewed Focus
Weapons: Sword/Shield
Tactic:
- Find and kill the first cosmic orb immediately, then stand between the first clone and first light well, facing the clone. The 1st AoE will be off somewhere else. The 2nd will appear behind you. After your Aegis blocks one of her attacks, use SYG and SY to stack up on retaliation. Use HTL if you need the extra health regen. The 3rd AoE will be right on top of you, so dodge backwards and get out. Make sure the clone is always walking in a straight line towards the well. After the clone becomes a crystal, immediately pick it up and throw it at Liadri.
- Proceed to the next light well, but walk on the LEFT SIDE of Liadra and stand on with the well to your right. There will be an AoE on top of the well. After that happens, stand behind the well so the far clone is walking straight into the well. You will be blinded but don’t worry. The AoE will hit somewhere else. After the clone walks into the well, pick up the crystal and throw it at Liadri. During this waiting time, you can walk back and forth to prevent Liadri’s projectiles from hitting you, saving you some hp.
- Proceed towards the light well on the left of you. Use Shield5 to push the clone into the light well. If the cosmic orb appears on the well, kill it before picking up the crystal. Else, use Stand Your Ground to prevent being pulled. Pick up the crystal and look for the cosmic orb and light well. If the cosmic orb and light well are together, move straight through Liadri and throw the crystal at her when you are between her and the light well. Since this is the 3rd throw, she will become active. Don’t stand too close to the light well, or she will leap at you and spin. You want her to spin in place. After she starts spinning, hide behind the light well to lure the clones in.
- Stage 2: The tactic for stage 2 is fairly simple (but hard to perform). Always stand near light wells to lure clones to them. The AoE in stage 2 targets opposites sides of the arena and alternate. Stand near the edges and keep walking/dodging back and forth. Use your shouts immediately after Liadri leaps and cripples you (changes cripple into swiftness). While waiting for clones to come, use Shield4 to keep protection on you when Liadri jumps you, but don’t try to tank her. Her spinning attack does a lot of damage. While you are waiting for clones to walk into the light well, walk back and forth in a circle/oval over the “borders” of the AoE. Once a clone walks into a light well, pick up the crystal and throw it at her. DON’T BE IMPATIENT. If the crystal is in the next area of AoE attacks, wait for the AoE to pass before picking it up. If there are a cluster of clones around the crystal, use Sword2 on the clones and then, pick up the crystal. Don’t worry, the clones won’t hit you. If Sword2 is down, use VoJ as your walk through them to pick up the crystal. After each crystal, look for the next well and repeat. If you run out of dodges, use Shelter/Renewed Focus to block AoE. If you run out of shouts and end up cripple, use VoR to remove it. Once you get 5 more crystals onto her, lure her near the middle and fight her while kiting in 1 direction through the safe zones. Because Liadri leaps, her clones will generally be further away from you.
Tips:
- Some arenas are different than others. I believe the arena with the Sylvari Ringmaster has a better setup. The light wells in that arena are further away from the wall, giving you more space to stand behind.
- The light wells spawn in the same 4 locations, in the same order. The next light well spawns immediately after a clone walks into the current light well.
- Blinding clones prevent them from hitting you when they explode.
- During stage 1, if you face Liadri and strafe side to side, you can dodge Liadir’s projectiles.
- During stage 2, the AoE alternates opposite sides of the arena. If you find yourself under the AoE and needing to dodge, stay in the same area after dodging.
I posted this up on Reddit awhile ago and forgot about here.

And for those who don’t want to go to Reddit:
Doobroosh Tranquilizer
Traits: Justice is Blind
Skills: Retreat
Weapon Setup: Sword/Focus
Tactic: Get him low (about 10%), then use Focus4 (Blind), Sword3 (Build Stacks), VoJ (Blind), Autoattack(s), Sword2 (Blind), Autoattack(s), Focus5 (Block), VoC (Block), Retreat (Block).
Savage Brute
Tactic: Just kite him with Scepter while picking up the Bloodlust orbs.
Blobs, Schmobs
Traits: Master of Consecrations
Skills: Shelter, Wall of Reflection, Sanctuary, Renewed Focus
Weapons: Sword/Shield
Tactic: Mark the main slime. DPS him down. Slimes appear on you, so each time a slime appears walk foward a bit which pushes the main slime back. This will help prevent your sword cleave from killing other slimes. When too many slimes start appearing, throw up Wall of Reflection, then Sanctuary, then block with Shelter (requires timing), then block with Shield5 (also requires timing), then Renewed Focus if Wall of Reflection is still down, then Wall of Reflection.
Meatless Murder
Skills: Bane Signet, Retreat, Judge’s Intervention
Weapons: Sword/Shield
Tactic: Target and attack the dog, but watch the hunter for meat throws. Make sure to keep as much swiftness up as you can. If the hunter “double throws”, use Bane Signet/Shield of Absorption to knock the dog down. If the dog runs away from you for another meat, use Sword2/Judge’s Intervention to catch up for Shield5.
Meatless Murder (Tactic 2)
Traits: Master of Consecrations
Skills: Bane Signet, Wall of Reflection, Shield of the Avenger
Weapons: Sword/Shield
Tactic: Target and attack the dog, but watch the hunter for meat throws. Use Wall of Reflection when he prepares to throw the first meat. When Wall of Reflection is almost out, bring out Shield of the Avenger. If a meat gets through, rush for the meat and return to the shield. Save Bane Signet just in case the dog gets ahead of you.
Definitely Spirit hammer. That knock down is great. You can dodge the pull from the hunter (I think it’s just Axe4 for Rangers). I also like to bring SY (for swiftness and extra dps).
Any reason why there isn’t one or reason why there shouldn’t be one? Sure, a banner is terrible dps, but as an expert on a large array of weapons, I would have expected banners to have a burst skill, too.
Is there any reason why Diamond Skin (Grandmaster Trait) does not give bonus condition damage from bonus toughness? I feel like this kind of interaction would make the Earth traits feel more synergized, as being in Earth Attunement gives more toughness, as well as Rock Barrier (Scepter 2), and Obsidian Focus (Adept Trait).
Edit: I also find it strange that the Earth Traits give +% damage, but +% damage never affects conditions. Is there a reason for that?
(edited by Sairenkao.6485)
It appears to no longer work with any bonus Toughness, including Signet of Earth. It seems that this Trait doesn’t synergize with Earth attunement as well as I’d like.
It appears to work with Signet of Earth.
1. Zephyr’s Focus does not proc when casting Stone Shards, while Obsidian Focus does.
2. Diamond Skin does not work with bonus Toughness, such as toughness gained from Obsidian Focus.
I run 3 signets (Stone, Wild, Renewal) with double Moas. Honestly, the only reason why I run Stone and Wild is because of the passive it provides my pet. Stone is great for saving the pet when swap is down and Wild’s regen works well with Stone’s toughness. Renewal is purely because I don’t run HS, as I prefer Troll Unguent for my pet.
I would really like Ranger signets to be more standardized and have Renewal also remove a condition from the pet every 10 seconds. Signet of Renewal is also the only signet that doesn’t benefit the pet in anyway, but I don’t have a good solution for that.
What about pets having their own endurance bar and making F3 their dodge? This makes vigor worth something on pets. If it’s too strong, perhaps pets can swap in with 0/50% endurance.
I am against having F1 toggle between attack and return. It would make switching targets more difficult, since you will need to remember to return then attack.
What about your story? You can’t redo all your story quests after you have already defeated Zhaitan!
I think Signet of Renewal should remove a condition from you AND your pet every 10 seconds. All other ranger signets affect both the ranger and the pet. The active is great, but it ultimately harms your pet, unlike the other signets. Perhaps the active should also heal the pet for each condition it pulls.
Just finished Shadow Behemoth and a chest didn’t appear at the end. This is the 2nd time I did it today. Is there an internal timer for these kind of things?
In PvE, your server probably has some points from WvW that increased healing effectiveness.
There are 3 Legendary Greatswords and 2 Legendary Spears. Will there more Legendary weapons? I’m not too interested in most of the current ones…
Just wondering if there will be a special restriction.
Just a small thing, but with auto-login + mobile authenticator, it would be nice if it focused on the authentication box so I don’t have to click into the box and then type.
YES I AM LAZY.
I’ve had Hodgins bug out twice so far. Once was at the location of the 2nd scepter, before he realizes it’s not there and opens the door for us to fetch the pieces. The second time was after we killed the Howling King, we didn’t get credit for killing the boss and therefore didn’t get any tokens. Anyone else run into this problem? Or have a solution to fix/unbug the next time I run into this?
Only +2? Here’s another +1!
Is it just me, or does Shelter have a shorter duration underwater?
If you are going for quick fights, I think Vitality is better than Toughness. Toughness really shines in extended fights and actually helps Healing even more.
Thank you very much for the explanation. I’m glad that I can leave VoR alone while soloing.
You can trait VoR with Absolute Resolution, allowing it to remove 3 conditions on use, which can save your life. So, I wouldn’t completely dismiss VoR. Plus that extra burst heal right before you die can help you last long enough to get another heal or dodge off.
I’m rocking full Cleric’s on my armor with runes of the water, pow/prec/crit on my greatsword with superior sigil of water, and chrysocola jewelry. I find that the healing really synergizes with the greatsword heal on ability use, and also provides my party with constant (and significant) healing, while the extra vitality from the jewelry makes me very difficult to kill.
I am very pleased with this build and am surprised that not many more are doing it as it gives a decent amount of damage for farming, tons of survivabilty, and great support for dungeon groups.
Did they change Zealous Blade to scale with Healing Power?
^remember that he also deals 5% damage to burning targets.
to answer op. All this time i’ve used 6/6 rune of flame legion and well the extra dmg is nothing to brag about. Im gonna use now 6/6 of strength and see how that goes.
Yes, I know. I’m just saying it’s not worth stacking Condition Damage and Duration. Duration for just % more damage is fine, since you are stacking Power.
If you are using burns as large source of damage, burn duration is not worth it. Burns only tick on full seconds, so a burn last 1.5 seconds does the same amount of damage as a burn that lasted 1 second.
Renewed Focus is already on a 90s cooldown, but it feels lacking. I would like to see Shield #4 give AoE Aegis for the amount of cooldown on it. Also, I feel like the reaction time on Sword #3 seems a bit slow. It could just be latency, but I rarely block projectiles that are already in flight. Does anyone else have that problem?
Generally, I like to keep Toughness and Vitality pretty balanced. Toughness is for long encounters, while Vitality is good vs bursts and condition damage. As for Power, it increases pretty linearly. However, in terms of dps, Power is always better than Precision (ignoring crit procs), unless your Critical Damage is at least 220% (+70%) or something. Someone else confirm?
I believe they want retaliation and confusion to work as “reactive” boon/condtion, as opposed to a boon/condition you try to keep on 100% of the time. Therefore, by reducing the duration, you actually have to time when these boons happen. However, for something like this trait where we have no control over when this boon appears, it makes me believe that this trait is just poorly built, since it conflicts with what Anet is trying to accomplish.
I’m planning on using 4 Monk/2 Water for maximum boon duration.
I have told my guildies many times that I wish the orb on #1 was faster and that #2 was a symbol. Other than that, it’s a good weapon.
Honestly, I really only want #2 to be a symbol so I can get the symbol traits (larger, longer, etc) to work with it :P
Making it a symbol would lose it’s animation, I think. Or else all symbols need animations! Also, if scepter gets a symbol, it’s only fair that sword gets one, too…right..? ;x
They’re the perfect class for manning siege weapons(great for getting bags of loot).
While I’m willing to accept that you find the Guardian perfectly viable in WvWvW, I dislike this bit. A profession shouldn’t need siege weapons in order to do good at WvWvW.
I was just about to comment with something similar to that.
I don’t know about other professions, but it feels like guardians are lacking in the combo department. I know greatsword has 2 and hammer has 1, but it would be nice to see more combos in general. Right now, when I see a combo field, the only thing I do is override it with my Light fields…
Examples:
Zealot’s Defense: Multiple Projectile Finisher
Shield of Absorption: Blast Finisher
Flash of Light: Blast Finisher
Orb of Wrath: Projectile Finisher
Protector’s Strike: Whirl Finisher after blocking
Thoughts? Ideas?
You can always pay to retrait, also. So don’t think that 40/60 are your only resets. I think it’s a little over 3 silvers at lv80?
Wish the shield had some kind of passive trait that made it a shield. Unless I am mistaken the only thing different between say a focus and a shield is the spells.
Shield gives defense. There’s another difference. I would love it if one of the shield skills gave Aegis. It fits the concept of shield and guardian very well, imo.
I use Protective Reviver for dungeons and love it. It’s very useful for reviving someone who’s downed in a bad spot.
10 Honor, shouts -20% recharge. Fill your bar with shouts and go to town with Greatsword/Sword/Focus.
I agree with this. And by shouts, I strongly suggest Save Yourselves! and Hold the Line!.
