While I agree with the fact that it sucks to have applied fortitude and vitality removed as they were very nice and attainable for anyone who really WvW’d this thread is just taking things way too far. Remember that this is just the first thing said about the WvW ability points and we can probably expect achievment changes and other changes to. Not to mention that it also looks like a possible mastery system will be added to add to the rest, which could add more. Maybe even some more trait lines.
The rest of the changes towards trait lines seem good…I do agree though that applied fortitude and vitality should stay, I don’t get why they don’t just make them cheaper though, as they talk about how they don’t want to make trait lines useless, that’s effectively what they do to that one.
As for the tower upgrades that’s getting hate here, come on, this solves SO many issues for people who dedicate their time to upgrading, not to mention it prevents trolls in a few ways, yes they can still drain keeps, but at least if they do it won’t stop upgrades now.
Overall this seems like a step in the right direction, let’s try and give them the benefit of the doubt, becuase no wonder they don’t want to interact with us… There’s tons of hate on this entire thread for every single decision they made! Some of them really aren’t that bad, and I don’t see how any of these changes are “for the PvE player”, although they do seem to give them too much love.
Will those who already have access to the last beta need to get a portal to get in on the next one? Or since they have the beta slot they’re already in?
Small guilds could definitely use some love in this game. So far, almost all guild benefits are geared toward large guilds. I also assume that achieving a guild hall in HoT will be something only a very large guild could afford to do.
Well, personally I have a solo guild that is pretty well developped and generally has everything but the guild missions unlocked (which I’m actually working on). This has of course been a long term goal, however most of it has been solo and sometimes duo. So, saying that this doesn’t have small guilds in mind and only large guilds is pretty false. In fact, I’d say it only has small guilds in mind for the most part. Heck, most of the bigger things only require about 6 players (puzzles and such).
In fact, large guilds have virtually nothing to do with the ridiculous surplus they have. Maybe guild halls would be something that targets the larger guilds, but at the moment there’s really nothing exclusively for large guilds.
Things go on sale all the time, outfits included. If you’re looking for a specific date you won’t get on, though. I think the best sale I’d be expecting for that outfit btw is something like 520 gems.
Also, if you wait awhile to buy gems you can expect it to be cheaper later, since at the moment gold to gem is at a pretty big high.
They generally have bene nothing but accomodating and helpful to me, too. I’ll second this sentiment here.
If you have been doing lots of PvP, enough to be good on mystic clovers. Then you’re probably off to a good start on the T6 mats, which you should worry about last imo, since you’ll be getting them a bit as you do pretty much anything in the game. For them, silverwastes seems to be the best farm as you can stack MF pretty good to get them, but you probably still PvP quite a bit which is also a good source.
Precursor is probably gonna be your main issue, so, stick to your dungeon reward tracks and mystic forge them hammers! If you’re bored, get on the chest train in the silverwastes and use 3 impalers + mystic forge stone and maybe you’ll get lucky! Dungeons if you want to learn them are also good for things to throw into the MF; they’re pretty easy to learn and if you have not yet then feel free to whisper me when I’m on, I enjoy teaching and running them (VoIP would be a req for me in this case, though).
Luckily for you you’re not gonna have to worry about the mystic clovers! Reward tracks win the day!
In regards to your crafting disciplines, there’s really no need to rush it, just use the mats you find to get the easy levels, then go through a round of creating random stuff to sell on the TP once base mats no longer give you levels. That’s if you want to be as efficient as possible of course, getting to 400 is relatively easy with those guides others have linked.
Lastly you’ll need world exploration…Which to be honest you’re probably gonna hate. My suggestion is to take it one map per day. You have plenty of time before they make any major updates for PvP to fix the current meta, as I’m certain you know. So take the time to get to enjoying the PvE world, there’s certainly a few things you’ll find fun in them.
Hmm…if it is easy to click an item on the screen, then I would imagine it is easy to click an icon on the screen. /shrug
It also intant links to the item. When you have 160 slots and have a few items that you use up, it can be hard to keep track of everything ALL the time. Especially after you take a break and decided to not be cleaning out your inventory. The clicking ALSO links directly to an item.
I shouldn’t have to be defending my preference of how to do things though, it is easy to just click on the inventory yes, but that’s a different issue altogether and not really a solution.
If you’re currently doing a boss and need to salvage while playing or many other reasons, you need your left hand on the left side of the keyboard and not reaching to press the i button or whatever you have it mapped too. Much easier to click it in many situations.
I’ve been kinda of taking a little break recently while I wait for HoT, anyway, probably a common story there and irrelevant.
I just wanted to know whether anyone else is experiencing an issue where they click on the item that they are picking up (appear on the right side of the screen) and it not being brought up in their inventory. Nothing happens! Is there some setting I turned off? Would be nice to be able to have that link working again.
Hey, I was actually experiencing this issue and had a good laugh about it personally. I am not currently at home and able to play GW2 but I can quickly answer some of that :
-Balthazar outfit was equipped then unequipped
-No tonics
-No toys
-Did not commit to any wardrobe changes or play around with it I don’t think
-No equipment changes (maybe I switched from d/d to s/p on my thief)
-Outfit was balthazar’s. Armor set is a mix of striders/carapace mostly
-No changes to anything. Was just running around, can’t remember why I stealthed really.
-Eyes were showing up as well as skin. No armor/hair/underwear.
Well for NA servers on JQ if you want the less blobby guilds you always have less blobby options. The guilds that pop to my mind are TWL, SF, Rex, KO, KA. You could look into those.
You can argue about whether CD builds open field siege or not all you want, since everyoen can do that and there are good ways to stop it. Generally just moving elsewhere is a good strategy… Either way, judging from the stream I saw last night, Kaineng’s only WvW got pretty hard stomped by CD. Even without the open field siege you got wrecked in straight even numbers. Not even close, don’t go blaming siege that’s just a red herring.
I didn’t post this thread so that people could chastise me or insinuate that I am negligent or stupid for buying something I wasn’t aware had been removed from the game. I’m human! A real live one, behind this text and my character. I make uninformed choices sometimes… we all do.
I posted with the suggestion or request that such items be removed from the game completely.
I am, IN NO WAY, going to miss the gold I spent on them. It can be made back by selling crafting materials. But it is hard earned… it takes time to farm up enough materials to be substantially profitable.
I just don’t want to see any other less informed people (new players, for instance) misled by these items. If you all have a problem with that, then that is exactly what it is… your problem.
So what about the people who have already paid for those items and want to keep them for linking purposes? Or the ones who want to sell them to such people? They still have worth even if it’s not a functional one…. How is it their problem? Personally, I bought one for an extra toon just to link it. You admit it was a mistake yet say it’s someone else’s problem even though they made no mistake yet want to sell that item…. You seem extremely determined to never take responsibility for your own mistakes despite admitting that you made them.

@Sane.5072.
Yes I am fairly new to the game. Started in early jan. However, I’ve been in the silverwastes for the last 6 weeks. I have also been instructing people who are also new to the top/mid/bottom lanes on what to expect, as well as how to survive. I also waypoint out when i’m dead in the boss fight, but not in the lane unless its heavily overrun. I will not stay, if the process of me being revived is going to get people killed. I’d rather waypoint out and return on my own. Even if it means coming back from the zone’s camp resolve one.
People afk’n during this major zone event hasn’t stopped, if anything its grown worse. We lose alot more often when people that are there, are afk. Than the times we win and no one is afk. Why do you suppose that is?
So you tell me, does it seem fair to the people who are actually doing the work towards winning the event?
@abbetd.5912
Takes less than 2 seconds to hit esc and click log out. Which is quicker, than waypointing to somewhere. You’ve expressed your dislike of this, and even tried to bring up a exploit option. If you had read the OP you’d have understood why i suggested that there’s a pop up window attached to it. Guess you didn’t though.
The reason they would be moved off map is because, its always better to have someone in the zone who is actually helping out, than someone who is not. And at the least, you would be placed in a safe zone. The only difference really, is that you’d probably notice the minute or two left on the debuff, provided you return within the first 5 minutes, if at all. And that’s only provided that this suggestion or any part of it, even reach the drawing board.
Nowhere did I say it was fair. However you are kind of ignoring the fact that the event will scale down anyway… So the difficulty is the SAME wether or not those people are AFKing, the event scales to the amoutn of players actively contributing (so those afkers are really just scenery, they don’t do anything to make the event harder). With this in mind, it is the ACTIVE players who need to succeed at the event, and that IS doable with only 5-10 people in each lane. I have never seen so many afkers that you can’t even scrounge up 15-30 players and if that is the case then those trying to leech the event would just leave anyway.
Good on you for working on doing better yourself, keep at it. It takes time and I know it’s frustrating, especially when you need to also educate a bunch of other people too.
I agree with most of this. The skill points probably shouldn’t be. Too easy.
I agree, it’s frustrating. Although it’s not exactly necessary I guess. Along the same vein, I would like a item slot bar for all my trinkets and toys
At first I was surprised at the lack of research that must have gone into this. Yes, I see that you say you did the research, however the search for training manual on the wiki clearly states the item has been removed from the game, furthermore, you can ALREADY place all your trait points so I don’t even see what you think this would do. It’s not necessarily unuseable, just that what you WOULD use for is no longer needed (unlocking the higher level trait levels).
Then, I noticed that you’re the same person who managed to analyze that one of the most active and successful WvW servers was a dead server all in the span of two hours. So I understand now.
Anyway, I can see your argument for removing these items and it does make sense. However the other side of it that there ARE people who have paid for these items and still like to link them in chat (to the point of purposefully wasting valuable item space) put value on them. There are people who actually still purposefully buy this,;I’d suggest on top of doing your research, if you aren’t clear what this item would do for you…You should ask map chat in LA or something with people who know exactly what those old items are.
We have started climbing, and that means
A) Players first trying WvW don’t find it dead and leave
B) People will transfer to our server since we have a decent blend of small group/solo and some zerg mechanics
HOWEVER, this is just the beginning. Kaineng has a bright future despite what many people may believe. True, we have risen and fallen in the past months, but this time it will be different. The remaining guilds we have are long item standing guilds that didn’t rise up over night like AXME or RAGE, not to shame those guilds, they are great guilds. However, they rose up very AST and felt restrained by the standings and slow growth of Kaineng, so they left, and I don’t blame them for it. The guilds we have now (SN, SIN, Owls, and KPD) have all been around for a long time in Kaineng and have slowly developed through the highs and lows.
Our small groups are getting great practice fighting against competent groups in CD and are beginning to improve in group synergy in pressing fights and outnumbered situations against skilled groups. More players are logging on daily in our down times (day time). This means that our small groups that hold stuff and keep enemy objectives paper for our night cap/upgrade have help and soon will become a competent force.
Overall, things are looking up. Expect to see some skilled play out of kaineng in the near and far future
P.S. If u like roaming and want to find a good server to roam on with a good community, whisper me in game
I’m not convinced those four guilds you named are friendly enough with each other to continue rising. Kaineng has some crazy inter-guild politics that need to be worked out before you can look to be stable. Way too dramatic.
First, I’d like to address the fact that the 3 siege carriers dying has ALWAYS been a part of the vinewrath event. He just kills them with his beam thing whenever a lane fails at killing the champ.
Now for your solution, it is a lazy and sub-par solution. To address afkers which can become a problem there are better solutions, maybe a shorter afk time so that those people need to regularly check in, forcing them to watch if an event is failing and either contribute/leave. Maybe they can make it so only alive people can affect scaling would work too, since most AFkers that are close enough to scale will also likely be dead. However, a report button for this increases workload by a TON, and just isn’t a feasible solution.
I will admit to the afk and such sometimes. However most people that do AFK do it away from the zone and thus do not effect scaling, and I do it sometimes when I do KNOW that I am making the zerg do all the work, but generally don’t do it unless it’s to the point that all I am is an auto attack bot since it’s just that boring.
You should really ask yourself the question what the problem is here. Because, when I go to the failed instances it feels a LOT like the first few days the vinewrath was coming out again, it seems that people have become complacent and always just relied on the farmers who KNEW the vinewrath event to do all the work for them (which may in some form include you as you only now seem to be only know discovering mechanics that were always in place) but now those people are getting bored of farming vinewrath and are moving on. Maybe you should help reeducate people as opposed to target a red herring like afker’s. I still see plenty of dead people at the champions instead of WPing, they are scaling up the boss but not adding DPS. Should they be reportable too since they aren’t acting in the goal of winning? The real problem seems to be mechanics are generally untouched for the beehive boss and usually doesn’t reach much more then a 75% beehive if I do nothing to charge it (easily something that can be done solo). Meanwhile, AFK’ers are doing nothing to scale up these bosses, but they’re still failing. These champs can be killed with around 10 people or less, so blaming AFKers for that seems ridiculous.
That person just moves faster than you, it seems pretty unlikely they are deliberately making it hard for you. You can force a map change by joining on other people, also if you log out and change your server that will very often force you onto another map.
Ok, now I see that your server is SoS. Your first sentence in this thread is that “My server is clearly not interested in WvW”….Are you kidding me? SoS is an EXTREMELY active WvW server. I get it, it’s annoying to be forced into playing a game mode you don’t like but at least don’t go about lying just because you don’t like it.
Besides that, you really should just let this objective slide to the backburner. Just wait every week to be a different colour, do the easy map completion on those sides one by one. Either way since you’re not doing it for a legendary you’re going to be needing a next objective, might as well start looking towards that before you’re forced to find something else to do.
You pretty much have to wait for your server to rotate to the right areas and for off hours. Otherwise, I agree. WvW needed for map completion is a terrible idea.
However, rumor has it this might be changed in the near future. . . .
I appreciate the input. But I was in Eternal Battlegrounds and my server is currently Blue and I was in Blue territory, trying to get the skill point. There simply wasn’t enough people from my server there to defeat the invaders and they are incredibly vicious. They chase you down even when you don’t fight back and/or are just trying to get away. I know they want loot and whatever points killing enemy players gets them, but seriously… to be THAT vicious. That’s why I do not like any kind of PvP what-so-ever.
It was bad enough that there were natural enemies there too (hylek, krait), and I was pretty much alone.
And yes, I agree… making WvW a part of map completion was a TERRIBLE idea.
I never understand this sentiment. So what about the WvW people that don’t like PvE? Should they be forced to go into PvE in order to do map completion?
There is NO server that doesn’t have dedicated servers and don’t cahnge colours from time to time. If you just pay attention you’ll be able to get it done and this is with MUCH less time commitment then it requires to do all of the PvE maps.
I have one 29 Warrior and a 20 Elemental that i want to focus on. Map exploration is fine as i said if you like that kind of stuff but i prefer other ways of leveling.
PvP, WvW are both generally considered faster ways of levelling. Dungeons are very fast too.
You just need to get used to the game, as someone who has played tons of MMO’s to the point I couldn’te ven name them all…This one is 100% the easiest to level. People go 1-80 in one day (this isn’t by tomes of knowledge). I see how map exploration might not be yoru cup of tea, explore into other parts of the game in that case.
Sounds to me like two independent issues being discussed.
1. Aggregate price for silk and market velocity
2. Farming for individual mats is hardI would argue that these issues aren’t actually related and shouldn’t be discussed as if they were.
I agree and I do understand the need for silk to be so high in price, as I was a player that played at release and quit before the ascended change. Silk was basically worthless when I quit; now there’s worth to silk and I think that a wortwhile change.
Hopefully you can answer a question for me though. Even though I do believe the price of silk must be very finicky and I respect all your decisions for the economy :
Why does it require so much more silk then the rest leading to damask being THAT much higher? Would making it so that it requires 75 bolts of silk (and thus 225 silk scraps) have too strong an effect and cause an overflow? On a related note, since you made this plan for silk, is there a plan for gossamer/hardened leather?
(edited by Sane.5072)
First off, ascended gear is about a 4-5% increase overall from exotic gear, and it is the lowest bump. MANY of the best WvW players use exotic gear and don’t bother with ascended as it is just too much work for the amount of characters they use.
Next, fractals are NOT required for ascended gear… They make ascended rings so common they are next to worthless, but that is it. These rings you can otherwise get for pretty cheap with laurels. Anything else in fractals….EXTREMELY rare towards ascended chests. I think maybe after over 100 fractal completions all well above scale 20 I’ve gotten maybe 1 chest and 1 skin. They are not worth it if you want a full set of ascended and only worth it if you want cheap ascended rings which are otherwise acquirable.
Finally, feel free to hate the game as much as you want, but your decision was extremely misinformed and seems to be made in anger instead of a knowledgeable decision based on facts, the closest thing to a fact that you seem to have is that ascended armor exists and sometimes drops in fracs. But everything else was false.
Well, I do understand that it is an issue for any profession that can go stealth..
But, why not just reskin the weapon?
(will take way less time than having ANet implement normal arrows for the dreamer in some specific game modes)
Legendaries are pretty big deals and a significant investment. Pretty dissapointing to have to reskin it because of something like this. There should be NO negatives to something on the scale of a legendary.
How do you teach a dog that what it does is wrong? you punish it.
Negative reinforcement is the least effective way to train a dog. I’ve been training dogs professionally for years, believe me. As far as people go though, punishment might work? I’m no human psychologist, but I’m interested in how effective negative reinforcement actually is. I could see it going either way.
Just want to clarify here a few things about reinforcement… First off, I agree with you completely, I think scolding, screaming and punishing generally to be one of the worst ways to train a dog. However, all of these actually fall under the term of positive reinforcement. A goo dway to look at it is positive = presentation of a stimulus in response to a behaviour and negative = removal of stimulus in response to a behavious.
Here’s a resource on this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reinforcement and hopefully it will help keep us all on the same page.
Caithe, on the other hand, murdered her someone because she lacked the conviction to stand up to her psychopathic lover.
Or she had the conviction to do something distasteful to stand up to her in the only way which could be done at that time – remember, Faolain wasn’t alone.
You seem to forget that someone has the most OP stealth in the game… As a thief, I could have easily gotten away from them, she could have to, no problem. Her entire build was as an ASSASSIN. All these things saying she was forced because there was no way out….Just ridiculous imo. Pretty much ANY other class and it would maybe make sense, but Caithe is designed to be able to kill someone and then be able to get out.
Probably because contrary to all the hooting and hollering for more difficult content, very few players actually do it when they give it to us (Liadri, TA Aetherpath, etc.)
Aetherpath is a gimmick filled path that simply doesn’t make me want to go back to it. Unlike say something like soloing Arah paths which is something I actively work at. There’s a big difference between a gimmick and difficult content. Liadri on the other hand would count, and I did see people banging their heads on her at all hours of the day for quite a while when that event happened, it wasn’t until at least half way through that time period that it seemed to die off and everyone was simply farming their tickets with whatever they found the fastest opponent.
I’m going to point out here that up until you said this, I’ve agreed with pretty much everything that you have said. About the cooperative/difficult content divide. general, good cooperation makes everything stupidly easy.
but here, you say that Aetherpath is just full of gimmicks whereas liadri is a difficult fight? That makes no coherent sense when juxtaposed with each other. Liadri is PURELY a gimmick fight. I’ve seen a bunch of tank condi builds just do the mechanic while not give a kitten about any of her damage and beat her no problem. If you understand the mechanic and have the right build, it’s easy (even with my zerker thief, a simple knowing when to dodge made it easy for me to dodge everything and down her before it was too much). Meanwhile, you could say a similar thing for Aetherpath but that one requires difficult + cooperative. In fact, a good player can defeat pretty much every boss solo…I don’t see why you don’t consider it in your difficult category if you consider liadri. I agree there should be more difficult fights and I consider some of these things the most difficult content in the game personally… However you aren’t consistent in what you want here.
Normally true, but not here. The siege carriers staying alive is what matters. Until you’re in facing the champions, your personal DPS doesn’t really matter at all. You need the siege carriers to damage the walls.
Waterfield + blasts is MORE then enough to heal them. Meanwhile, best DPS possible is a good offense which equals good defense. the standard you need DPS applies, if your’e good and understand the game at least.
