It is certainly the best MMO I have played to date. And, it still has potential to be great. They did so much right with this game and I wish Anet and the community success in making it great.

I’ve done runs with 3 eles, a necro, and a warrior that went flawlessly. I’ve done runs with two warriors and a guardian that wiped over and over. Class is not the deciding factor in dungeons.

Don’t ever worry about what groups “need” or considered “the best”. They try and make every class as equal as possible so players can play what they like, and that is really what it is about. Play what you enjoy, what you think is fun. Ele is awesome, play it.

I like raiding and I love mounts…. the only things I liked from WoW, but why would you have mounts if we already have waypoints? That just defeats the purpose to me. It’s like they would have to totally re do the entire game just to add some mounts. And my asura is pretty darn fast…. Don’t need a mount with that li’l guy.

I think it would give a better incentive for someone to choose their race rather than just based on what they liked appearance wise. this game has few enough skills IMO, to make up the classes and races so each race would have to different skills pertaining to their class. It’s no biggie and I am fine with the way it is, but it still would be nice for you asura guardian to differ a bit from a norn guardian, etc.
On another note someone mentioned a monk class…. I’m not against a monk class but that just looks a bit copying off of WoW panda monks (even though GW1 had them first). What I would like to see, is a dragoon class, I haven’t played much MMO’s to know if any of them have this class. But I think they need to offer a bit of a change than the basic paladin, ranger, mage, type of classes.
Last but not least, I am glad they have spears on here…. BUT! Just having them as underwater weapons??? Spears have been used (on dry land) for about as long as swords… So what’s the deal there? polearms and spears have been pretty much useless in all MMO’s. Why? Even games like the elder scrolls you cannot use them. I find that odd for the fact that spears have been used in warfare a lot more than a two handed hammer has.

I figured you could ‘acquire’ windows. The 750$ im looking at includes the monitor as well so really im looking at a 500-600$ build. I do want to build my own very much. I even started on it a little bit. I have the 8gb memory ddr 1333 model as well as the optical drive and a 460W cooler master elite power supply. I’m just trying to start of with a good build and over time make it a great build.
I’m looking at this budget build. Look good for a starter? I built a budget computer for myself last year for $500, I play GW2 on maxed out settings with no problem. Here’s a link to the build, you can use it as a bit of a guide to how much power you may (or may not) need:
Guardian is more of a support class where warrior is DPS. To me, warriors are amazing and have really strong dps. If there was a such a thing as a tank on this game it would be the guardian. Just think about what you want, a class that primarily deals out damage and a lot of it, or a class that is more geared towards supporting and protecting other players.

As someone who has played thief, ele, necro, and warrior on spvp regularly, I’m going to tell you that if you do things right the warrior is just as competitive as the other classes i mentioned, if not more. Play around with your builds!
So True. People who have problems with the warrior really means that they don’t have a decent build and does not understand their mechanics IMO.

First off, I never tell players to back off. I enjoy playing with the other players too much. I like how you do not have to be in a party to rez someone. And I always appreciate the fact that they took the time to help me.

This game would be much better if ANet used the resources they put into developing the holiday events, lost shores, fractals and flame and frost into adding new traits and skills for each class.

I’ve noticed nobody talks, nobody answers questions nobody does anything social. This seems to be the least helpful MMO I’ve played. I’ve asked questions and get nothing. Try to see where people are and be vocal in pvp and show positions and such and nothing.
Nobody says a thing in this game. It’s so odd, and makes me want to play less and less because it feels stale like a single player RPG with a bad story line.
I am having the exact opposite….. Everyone is fun and friendly and all play together well. You eliminate the jerk mentality a little bit because everyone gets their own items and don’t have to roll for anything. You actually benefit greatly from helping each other. THAT right there creates a much more friendly atmosphere. When I played WoW all people did was spam chat nonstop and cuss each other out like it was highschool. Maybe you need to come to a busier server? Come to Gate of Madness, we are friendly there.

most look at things like these dailies and laurels as a must do. Some people enjoy these type of things and log on just to do them. Dailies are much more tolerable than on other MMOs IMO.

Sorry to dissent, but I must disagree. One of the things I hate about most MMOs is the annoying number of skills they throw at you. GW2 strikes a very good balance of keeping a narrow skill band without sacrificing much in the way of depth.
That being said, given the number of weapons each class can use, there’s really not a lack of skill sets to try.
I agree. On most MMOs they throw so many skills at you and by end game you are only using about the same amount that you use on here.

I play on a laptop. Pretty decent HP. Certainly no Alienware. BUT, for the money you would invest in an Alienware you could make a Godmode PC. Look alienware are really nice and flashy but a huge waste of money. Really the only real gaming on computers is on a PC. My laptop run this at about 22FPS. LAME. I like the mobility of a laptop for other reasons than gaming. I prefer gaming on a pc more than a 360 or PS3, though it does take some effort, but it pays off. PC >>> Laptop anyday, my friend.

I would love to have a cloak at low level. They seem to be aimed at high level chars only, though.
My highest right now is 17 charr warrior….. So you are telling me they have cloaks at the high levels? because I can deal with that. I just have not seen them period.

Doesn’t that kinda just complete the whole look to a character? You have to admit they look pretty awesome, and with the GW2 graphics they would totally look amazing. Doesn’t Rytlock in the art pictures have a red one? but actual in game Rytlock doesn’t?

Is it me, or do DW axes are a lot more powerful than swords? I like the idea of DW swords, but I find that secondary sword to be pretty useless in most cases. And the one thing I do not like about DW is the fact that when you do your auto attack, you just swing you main hand weapon rather than both… Isn’t that kinda lame? They should fix that. You look kinda kitten swinging that one sword than all of a sudden start chucking the second hand sword like a thief from final fantasy….

Thanks all. I was looking at the legendaries and while it seems difficult and time consuming, I want to get one. I really do not see anything to spend it on right now anyways. However, I do notice that you never really need to buy any gear (i’m level 15 now) you mainly just pick it up from drops…. How long before you actually need to start looking for some quality gear? When I can start running AC?
Personally, I’d recommend using on-level blues all the way to level 80, at which point I’d recommend investing in greens or (if you can afford them) rares. From there, you can start working on exotics. If you decide to dungeon a lot before 80, greens might be worthwhile.
You can run AC story mode at level 30. AC explorable, which gives tokens, can be started at 35. Both modes can be difficult at level, especially if you haven’t gotten the hang of dodging and staying mobile in battle, but it can be done.
That’s what I had in mind, to use level blues until 80. A friend told me the dungeons on here are crazy hard, especially compared to WoW, which I really like because it gives you a challenge and not half sleeping your way through dungeons.

you guys are dead wrong if i had it my way my chars head would be all teeth. and his body would also be teeth. you pick charr for something that looks like itll rip your face off not a cat man with a human mouth. why not just reroll a norn or something if you dont like the teeth. and walk around as the lepord.
I agree! I like the Charrs evil looking fangs. I like to imagine they use those and their claws in battle other than just their weapons. It’s the only race that looks menacing without armor and weapons.
It’s a lot better than blizzard (thinking about the Dranei and their tentacles)…
