SaveTheQueen.3265

I’m an experienced player with well over 3,000 hours of gameplay under my belt. I’m somewhat new to raiding and would like to get involved with an experienced raiding guild.

Main: Condi engi (full viper ascended), but I have every profession level 80 and gearing several of those for raids as I type.

Shoot me a message if interested.

Rotations: A basic rule

in PvP

SaveTheQueen.3265

Rule: Seek and maintain situations that are advantageous (good) for your team.

Examples:
*Fighting on a contested/uncaptured point in a 1v1 – Neutral (no advantage or disadvantage for your team)
*Fighting on a point captured by your team in a 1v1 – Advantage
*Fighting on a point captured by enemy team in a 1v1 – Disadvantage
*Fighting a 1v2 on your enemies captured point for a long period of time – Advantage (even if you don’t have the point, fighting a 1v2 for a long period of time is beneficial because it allows your team to fight 4v3 for the other two points)
*Fighting a 1v2 on your own captured point for a long period of time – Huge Advantage
*Fighting a 2v1 on your own captured point – Disadvantage (Not always bad, but kill the enemy player quick or you’ll cost your team)

These examples only apply to most situations. Not all

This is probably obvious to some, but I have noticed that it isn’t obvious for everyone.

How and why is this happening?

I can relate to OP. I just had a 7 game losing streak solo and duo queuing in Ranked/Unranked; not a single one of the games were close (200 point difference or more). Normally I am quick to criticize my own play rather than complain, but tonight felt ridiculous.

It seems like it is crucial to play with a full team if you have a relatively high MMR.

Note: I am not a new player: 3,500+ games

What Ascended gear for WvW roamer?

in Engineer

Posted by: SaveTheQueen.3265

SaveTheQueen.3265

I’m trying to decide what Ascended gear I should make for WvW roaming. I would like to be viable in outnumbered fights and I feel like condition focus is my best option for this.

I’m leaning towards full Rabid or a mixture of Rabid/Dire.

Any suggestions?

I appreciate the help guys. I’m glad to know that I am not the only one with this issue. I submitted a ticket to Anet.

Yet another thread where the answer is simply learn to play. Seriously. I have no problems facing premades with PUGs and actually enjoy the challenge because when we win it makes it that much more satisfying.

Pro Tip: When I play a match and see good players that don’t have a full group I ask to join them! Insane right!? If I see a good player who is solo queuing I ask if he/she wants to join me. I usually build a group of 2-3 players in just a couple games doing this.

You can also add these players and then play with them again if they are on another day. So on and so on.

I have asked around and I seem to be the only one that has this problem.

My “Ascalonian Catacombs Collector” achievement is stuck at 36/37 because the achievement does not show that I have Ascalonian Protector Legguards unlocked (Although I do).

I have tried multiple things to try to get the achievement to show correctly that I do have the skin, including: Selecting the item from a SPvP Reward Track, putting the item in the Mystic Forge, equipping the item, salvaging the item, purchasing it from the vendor with dungeon tokens, and applying the item as a wardrobe skin. So far none of these have worked.

Hopefully I can get some feedback on this. Thanks in advance for any help!

How do you handle confusion?

in PvP

Posted by: SaveTheQueen.3265

SaveTheQueen.3265

I want to know how a player (particularly engineer) should handle confusion once it has been applied, and that player has no condition cleanses immediately available. Generally speaking, I think there are two viable options:

1.) Try to Line of Sight enemies and use minimal defensive skills until condition cleanses are available (or condition ends).
2.) Continue fighting as normal with only slight regard to the confusion stacks.

The first option seems like it should be the correct answer when viewing confusion’s game mechanic. However, from my experience, not using or using very few skills for several seconds versus a skilled player will likely leave you dead or worse off than if you had just taken the confusion damage.

I would like to hear players’ thoughts on this. As of right now, it seems to me that if confusion can’t immediately be cleansed it is better to just ignore it, for the most part, and play on.

Slight skill delay?

Ahh thanks for the tip. Is the drop bundle slower for all kits? That could be the solution for the combos if so. I always use drop bundle. But I still noticed the delay on Overcharge Shot and other instant casts.

Edit: I just checked and Stow Kit is significantly better than Drop Bundle. Thanks again Sorel^^

Slight skill delay?

in PvP

Posted by: SaveTheQueen.3265

SaveTheQueen.3265

I noticed recently that I physically cannot pull off some of the combos that the “pros” do in some of their YouTube videos or on Twitch. I can press all of the buttons quickly but it just seems that the skills do not activate fast enough. It’s not a huge delay but definitely enough to notice as a reasonably experienced player.

Examples: Overcharged Shot on Engineer isn’t exactly instant cast. There’s like a little 1/4th to 1/2 second delay. Same with Elixir S.

I know fractions of a second don’t seem like much, but when creating and using combos it can mean all the difference in the world.

*My questions: Do others have/notice this slight delay? Is there any way to fix it? Is the delay just a part of the game mechanics?

Note: My ping is usually around 50ms to 100ms. I post this in the PvP section because I feel like competitive PvP players would have the most experience in noticing or reducing any skill delay.

Turret Engi ruins SPVP

in PvP

SaveTheQueen.3265

I agree that turret engis can be tough, but they are not unbeatable. Tips for dealing with Turret Engis:

-ALWAYS try to engage a turret engi off point. If you see one coming. Run to them. Force them to drop their turrets far from point and then flee back to the capture point.

-If you are running a condition build focus on the engi first! If he gets his turrets up and survives your burst. Just run. You will die.

-If running a power or tank build focus on the turrets first! A turret engi without turrets is extremely vulnerable. Priority for destroying turrets: Rocket Turret> Flamethrower Turret> Rifle Turret> Net Turret> Thumper Turret> Healing Turret.

-If a turret engi does manage to get to the capture point and drops all of his turrets plus supply crate then you should just run. Odds are you won’t win that 1v1. Go help elsewhere on the map and come back to capture point once engi has left the point or his supply crate is on cooldown.

Ultimate Pro Tip****** Do not feed a turret engi. I have played countless games where one player runs to our home point all game trying to kill a turret engi. The player never decaps. Never wins the 1v1. And always causes the team to lose. DO NOT BE THIS PLAYER!

I lol’ed. Engineer is really strong in PvP atm. If anything Anet should focus on traits and utility skills that are never used and try to make them more viable.

Honestly, I have found the condition meta build to be very good in Solo PvE. Just use a 6/2/0/4/2 build with Grenade Kit, Toolkit, and Rocket Boots (for added mobility) as utilities.

what is your OP list of classes?

in PvP

SaveTheQueen.3265

I play Engineer,

OP order Top 3 (From most OP to least and reasons why):

1. Ele- The current meta ele just seems to have it all. They have excellent survivability, very good mobility, solid damage, invuln stomps, etc… Honestly surprised that there aren’t more teams running 2-3 eles. Just too useful in every situation.

2. Engi- Engis do require a lot of skill but a celestial engi has a little too much survivability with the amount of sustained dps they have. Same as ele, just a little too useful in every situation.

3. Ranger- I don’t feel that Ranger is OP 1v1, but a power ranger is ridiculously annoying in team fights. Dealing massive burst damage from 1500 range (no matter how squishy) is a bit overpowered.

Honorable Mention: Terrormancers (Used to be really OP, but current meta builds have adapted to handle them pretty well), Full dps Mesmers (Really strong dps and good survivability, but lacks too much in other areas to make them OP).

Acended Gear for WvW

I already have a full zerker set of Ascended gear on my Engineer (for PvE) and was wanting to make another set for WvW. It looks like the best options right now are Rabid, Dire, or Celestial. Is there any consensus on WvW gear for Engi? Input on Runes/Sigils/Traits/& Skills would also be appreciated!
