But seriously, Shiro is awesome. I agree that he lacks some defense. He doesn’t have much protection, so you have to know when to pull out with him, he’s quite fast.

a 0 cooldown stunbreaker that also cleanses cripple, chill AND immob on top of granting an entire dodge and can be spam chained to basically achieve 7 straight dodges…and that’s only ONE skill.

I actually think we are playing a diffrent game, i think it lacks defence also, and thats not a bad thing beacuse thats not how Shiro was supposed to be. but saying he has good sustain and defence would be wierd to me. i cant count how many times ive gone from glint to shiro to burst someone down to be downed before i had a chance to pop 6-7

i find myself using him all the time, i do belive our hardest hitting combo is (shrio press 6 press 7 spam sword 1 like it spit on your puppy) beside that it has 9 as a combo breaker and a 2 cd shadowstep wich covers insane amount of distance even if the guy ure running for isnt in view the only thing i dont really use i the ulti and i dont know why i can see it helping in situations but at this time im out of energy and back in the warm embrace of glint.

Sorry im comming back in here again, i just wanted to say in the secpter department i agree it would give it that Ritualist vibe but i would much rather have the rev having weapons that arent used that much for the rest of the classes if you feel me? one of the things that really drew me to the class was its ability to wield power based douple swords without them being condition based

I would love that, the only thing in my opinion is i dont really trust Anet with pistols anymore, wich is truly a shame beacuse i think being a Mistwalker able to Flow trought it up to you only to pop off your bloody head is awesome.

As the title says i lag out for like 3 seconds when i use glints ulti, and i can run the game on full medium with a solid 50-45 fps all the time, ive tried playing with settings a bit but nothing really seems to help it, anyone have any experience with this or know what setting to tweak? I’ll reread the articles, but I guess I just want to understand how some of these came about. Like a charr mesmer? or an asuran warrior (when they seem to rely on golems primarily)? Or a norn engineer?

Even separate from the weird race/profession combinations, just general background on how they came about and the roles they play in their respective societies would be nice, at least for the more esoteric ones.

I belive i saw somewhere the engineers was a charr only proffesion when it began and the other races saw it on the battlefield vs the charr and picked it up i cant remmber where i got it from so dont hang me up on it

All magic is practiced. Otherwise there’d be no charr necromancers.

Humans attribute some professions to certain gods – which are the professions’ patron god, but the connection is not absolute.

Necromancy existed before Grenth was a god, he just gave his own take on it to Desmina.

There’s no Mouth of Grenth. You might be thinking of the Mouth of Zhaitan and the Keeper of the Shrine (a priest for Grenth’s cathedral in Orr) and mixing them up.

It’s just the same word to name different things. Like the druids – they were a group of humans who sacrificed their flesh to become one with nature, but it’s the name of an elite specialization.

Being a Reaper elite specialization is not becoming one of the Seven Reapers. The Seven Reapers are powerful souls tasked with overseeing the Underworld. The Reaper elite specialization is just a more physical-based take on the necromancer profession.

Unfortunately, there’s not much lore on any of the elite specializations. The one with the most lore is Scrapper – the rest are pretty much loreless, except for some name ties. And Scrapper is the only elite specialization who’s name actually holds a connection with another thing of the same name (Scrappers are a low, often punishment duty, position in charr society – the elite specialization began when said charr society scrappers decided to become useful in fighting).

Open your Story Journal on the Hero Screen (default: H). Click on the “Scarlet’s War” tab and select “Begin This Story”. Follow the Story instructions. That should explain everything you need to know in overview.

If you want more intricate details, pony up and buy Living Story Season 2, then play through it. I suggest buying the bundle pack, it’s more efficient. You might also consider picking up (and reading) the book ‘Edge of Destiny’. It explains not only some events referenced in the Personal Story, but also the story and fate of Glint, the draconic oracle whom Rytlock befriends in the Mists.

Or… you know… you could accept that you, the audience, don’t know what’s going on and move forward. Any reasonably intelligent person should be able to figure out the important bits through context:
“Who are these people?” They are your companions.
“Why am I acting like this?” Because you’re their leader… and your ships and friends got blown up by a jungle dragon, leaving you a bit salty.
“Who is that crazy Charr?” He’s very powerful. He knows more than you. He’s on your side.
“What’s up with this dragon/phoenix/ghost thingy?” Again, she knows more than you. She’s also on your side. She needs your help.
“What happened to ‘my’ Pact?” It was smashed to bits by the jungle dragon you wanted (and still want) to blow up… also it was never ‘your’ Pact.
“WTF? Caithe is evil?” She did something bad and you want to know why.

All of this, and more, is given to you in the first 10-15 minutes of Heart of Thorns, during the introductory mission required to enter. Everything else is part of the current story and told to you in context when necessary.

So ive gotten a bit into HOT im on my 3-4 week of playing Guild wars wich means i wasent around for the living stories and to me this is a stupid kittening way of setting up a story, yes i did the personal story but beacuse i choose to play your game a couple years after its come out im left in the dark? i dont know who half of these people are, i know the ones youve met trough the race stories, but all of the sudden Caithe is evil and i am now the protector of some sort of blue pheonix that somehow turns out to be the dragon wich the revenant hears in the hearld spec who also happends to have something to do with the elder dragons themselfs on top of that my guy (human) turned from an all loving uuuh rainbows tyria is so great hihihi bad boy youre such a meanie hihihi to I dont trust anyone you can all go kitten yourselfs and that proberly sounded more humouris than it was suppose to i like the change of him actually talking like a leader but it just so hard getting a strong connection with the chars of the story and even my game since he aperently been trough things that changed him forever, and been trough things that changed allies to enemies. its all so very confusing and im really trying to enjoy the story but i just cant beacuse i cant realte to what happend to my pact. so im left youtubing your storylines only to be able to enjoy the story of your so acclaimed hyped expansion

Three reasons:

1. Reaper is on the lower end of skill floor. To be completely honest, you don’t have to be that great of a player to have a decent performance as a Reaper.

2. The counter to Reaper is not so much a build as it is tactics. Lower skilled players see Reaper as overpowered because they haven’t figured out how to take on an opponent in anything outside of a straight-up brawl, which Reaper is designed to be absurd in. Any profession can beat a Reaper, but it does take thinking.

3. Necros as a whole throw a monkey wrench in how people like to play. From neutering healing with poison and screwing up rotations entirely with Chill to laughing at your Stability and Protection that you were relying on. Necros force people to change their play by screwing with them. People hate being weakened in games, and Necros are the kings of debuffing (always have been, even across games).

See this is where you people loose me. 1st of i dont get what you elitist guild wars players always have the same problems 1. you think beacuse something is easy its not fun, and i dont get that, im not gonna give up my favourite class that i enjoy very simply put more of the way it looks and feels but for people like this im a noob beacuse im playing a diffrent class they dont enjoy as much or find as challegin as their mains. and i do think Us Reapers are op at alot of things but the thing i see most as reaper mainer is people who just get up in my face and thats how we chew trough you. when i finnaly come up against someone who knows how to actually play their class i get destroyed just as easily as anyone else,

Profession viability in dungeons isn’t quite what I was referring to there. Dungeon rewards were nerfed into the ground so hard that it’s exceptionally difficult to find groups that still run them. And the people who still do run them are generally people trying to farm tokens for legendary gifts so they want experienced level 80s who can get them done quickly and without fuss. Just an entire segment of gameplay content essentially nerfed out of the game because Anet wanted to move its rewards to their new and shiny content.

I’m still a little dirty about the entire way that panned out and I wasn’t an enthusiastic dungeon runner at the best of times. In any event, if you’re interested in doing dungeons your best bet is to find a guild that’s either close-knit or dedicated to teaching players how to run content rather than, say, trying to find a pick-up group. If you join a large, disparate guild it’s highly likely that most of its members will be focused on their own, more profitable interests. Smaller, close-knit guilds tend to be more actively social and are more likely to do less rewarding content because one person wants to experience it. Even beyond dungeons, finding a guild you like will positively affect your entire perception of the game. This has generally been my experience in any case.

It’s excellent you’re enjoying yourself. The main thing that interests me here though is your belief that Necromancers and Grenth are evil. Because neither are in the Guild Wars lore. There’s nothing stopping you from roleplaying as an evil Necromancer but unlike other games it’s not really the default assumption.

Hello. My name is Aleks and this is just a little ramble about my first two days in guild wars 2. this will proberly not interest old players whove seen it all and done it all but if youre sitting wondering if you should try this game out this might help or it might not. all in all i needed to get it off my chest hahah. Please dont read on if you cant handle gramatic mistakes beacuse there is going to be alot of them..

So lets start. i was sitting in SWTOR and just lost a pvp game outta rage i wanted something else and i remmberd i had looked at gw2 a few years ago but never given it a shot to my suprise it aperently went free to play so i made an acc and started downloading. while it downloaded i checked various youtube videos to figure out what class i wanted. ive always enjoyed being the bad and evil guy so necromancer was a no brainer. but it downloaded. i looked trough the races and i sat for 1 hour deciding what to do as they all looked cool i wasent much a fan of the midgets but the rest looked awesome but i went with human as i figured what the hell first char and all that. so i went in and imediatly i hated it. i wasent a big fan of the art style and the questing was brutal and i hated evry second of it. so i went a bit around did some hearts. and all that tought to myself screw it back to swtor. so that was my first day kinda sad isnt it? so on my second day i tought what the hell Aleks youre gonna push trough it go trough the first area and you can judge it by there. so i did queensdale was not my cub of tea and if i have to escort one more cow dude i swear. but i did it and after awhile i was overleveld and evrything went smoothly like just a nice flow of things i started to stop up and look at the landscape and im gonna feel so nerdy for comming clean with this. i even sat on a cliff for 30 minutes just looking at the world while i drank my morning coffe so i went on and i started getting the hang of the questing do hearts explore and events pop up son you drop evrything you have and you go do that quest. so i reached lvl 10 did my story wich so far is the part i disliked the most for the sheer reason that im a diciple of the god of death who practices the dark arts of Necromancy. but hey i sure do care about peoples feelings. so went trough it got the full map completion great went on to the next area. and imeditaley just started exploring.

And this is now the part if youre still reading with me to this point where i knew guild wars 2 was the coolest game ive ever played.

I found a toxic queen event or something like that tought why not ive soloed a few events before i did not notice the fact it said champion before the moment i attacked so spoiler alert i got downed instatly and im laying there spamming my one trying to get back up

And here it comes.

as i laid there dying out of nowhere this wolf guy charr i think its called jumps over my dying corpse and attacks this lady and i tought yea good luck dude youre dead. as per watching a necromancer vid i saw a bloodwell comming under him and tought okay he has backup within 30 seconds of this happing all the sudden 30 guys jump over me and goes to town on this lady a nice norn woman gets me up and i look around and i swear theres 40 people here we all attack it a few went down some guy yells

‘’GIVE HER NOTHING. TAKE FROM HER EVRYTHING’’ another one yells ‘’FOR TYRIA’’ and im sitting here laughing my kitten off and we fight for a good 10 minutes and finnaly get this lady down. and we all sit around and talk i made some freinds and all that as soon as we all disbanded i went directly to the shop and bought the game. and played for the rest of the day until 6 am this morning and that 40 man event happend alot more times than i expected so all in all.

Im 18 ive played games since i was 6 years old ive done em all wow swtor skyrim morrowind final fantasy dark souls ive done it all. but this experience is something that ive never ever had and im gonna stay here the learning curve scares me reaching lvl 80 scares me but im staying.

Now a few things for new guys reading this im gonna give you some of my own tips on how to play this game.

First off dont rush it please dont just stop once in awhile look around and i promise you 9/10 times youre gonna go uuuh whats over there ive always hated exploring and never seen what people see in it but in this game i find myself doing it all the time.

dont worry your head about the endgame enjoy the now.

when it comes to classes as i said i played wow and a couple other top mmos and theres always these guys ‘’OH YOU GOTTA PLAY THIS ’’Sniffles’’ THIS HAS TOP DPS’’ I dont care i couldnt give less of a singlekitten* do you. do the class you enjoy do the thing that looks coolest to you. you can have your top dps and you can have your heals and you can have your builds. im gonna do me. beacuse this is a game that wants you to do exactly that.

and thats all i can ramble about today beacuse im afraid this is gonna be one long kitten post. but thats how it is im in love with this game and im on lvl 27 i have yet to do a dungeon i have yet to do wvw and i havent looked at crafting yet but kitten i love it.

Hi im completly new to gw2 im on my 8th hour and im running a necromancer but he looks like a budisht monk with the armour i have gotten so i was thinking of buying a gem skin beacuse i got some money to burn. but when i buy the skin will i have to re transmog the set eachtime i get a new pice of armour or weapons`? seems preety useless to me then untill you get to 80 if thats the case. thanks for your time and beforehand thanks for your answers and help
