Open world pvp, the best and worst thing about any mmo. Nothing beats the warzone feel, ambushing people, setting road blocks. It’s pretty kitten cool, unless you’re the guy getting ganked by people 50 levels higher than you. Nonetheless, it’s something I miss. Frankly no mmo with mobs has ever pulled off fair open world pvp. APB, exceptional pvp, this is the system I base this on.

If you haven’t played APB, it’s a pvp based TPS. Players are automatically paired up with people from their faction and fill each other with lead in objective based battles, while still in an open world.

It wasn’t perfect, I missed the open word feel that I’m offering here. One that wouldn’t hinder the gameplay of poor pve players. Next to the SPvP icon there will be something cool, like a skull or something. There you can choose a faction, for example, in the human starting zone, it’ll be bandits vs lionguard or seraph, the party will be re-colored to the factions colors (gold for lionguard) For more race based factions, like the nightmare court, players will have their races changed, for immersion purposes.
While this seems counter productive since it breaks the player’s immersion, I believe it will be nice to not see charr and asuras dressed as nightmare court.

In most MMOs, no. In GW2, this is actually doable.

You’ll notice that Blizzard has refused to put any non-human races in WoW since it’s inception, because most of the races animations are copy/pasted from each other and only resized slightly. In GW2 each set of armor is animated specifically for the race that is wearing it (excepting the human/sylvari). So if they made a new race, they have to redo all the armor anyway, so I see no reason they couldn’t do so for a non-human race.

Please, I love the game as much as your next fanboy. But stretched helmets on charr and mis-fitting pauldrons on norn are fairly lazy.

Hello everyone, I’ll make this short and sweet.
Largos are probably the top third most suggested races for play-ability, after Tengu and Kodan. However every time Largos are suggested the idea is often shot down by, “basically sea elves” and I agree, for a game that boasts uniqueness of the world it sometimes fails to deliver and, while I’m sure my idea will be much less unique than the designer’s I think bringing fresh ideas would be nice.

Largos: suicidal, mysterious, assassin sea angels. Essentially all we know about the Largos

So, here are the changes I’m thinking of.

Background changes:
The Largos state that they left the depths of the ocean because of an unknown terror, the terror, for my Largos is a disease. The disease only affects certain Largos, it turns their “hair” white, lower’s their immune system and shortens their lifespan drastically. Those affected are called “Reavers” (no connection with the other Reavers) once diagnosed “Reavers” are given a loving fair well , allowed to return at any time, but most only return when they believe they have completed something worthy. Reavers use a large Quaggan/Largos outpost called Aequor as a home base. You will never see a Largos guard, merchant or soldier. They are usually adventurers, most of time alone. Therefor the city is solely populated with Quaggans.

Physical Changes:
I like the white hair it seems a little generic though. So, my idea is to use some of the old sylvari super spiky hair. Largos hair is thicker than human hair, think every strand as a dreadlock. Largos hair is often dual-color like the longer hair Caithe concept art

Reavers all wear masks and cover all their skin to prevent infection, often with baggy silk with japanese-style patterns and the signature black armor.

I was inspired by the Quarrians a little and I think it’s a little too evident.

Why why do you need a speed increase ?

Cause your a ranger and you feel you should run faster than the mountain of muscles in plate cause he bought sigils that increased his movement speed and is carrying a banner that gives a temporary speed buff?

Well my elementalist should run faster than any other class, she wears light armor and is the master of elements.

LoL I realize this is a suggestion board but do people think about what they are typing before they hit enter ?

Also ranger is quite fast, being beaten only by elementalist and thief. If someone is carrying a warhorn or a banner of speed they deserve to be faster than you.
I was wrong about the runes, the max speed a warrior can go at is 10% passively, while holding a melee weapon.

As a ranger you could easily immobilize or slow the warrior and he won’t be able to fight back without switching to ranged, causing him to go at default speed.

A warrior shouldn’t be able to out-run you, the fastest passive speed boost he can have is 10%, unless he has a rune for speed, then it’s fair that he’s faster.

I think you’re overreacting. A lot of armor looks fine on the charr, sure the fact that they’re hunched over and a little top heavy looks a little silly, but that’s with the characters themselves.

I have a charr with vigil armor, he looks fine.

Oh right, I do agree that the stretched armor is annoying, but the metal poking and tails seems like nit picking, but still it hardly seems like it’s worth leaving over.

I recently rolled sylvari for the first time, it was all cool and naturey and stuff, up until. I saw their armor, right out of the tree, my character was wearing chainmail and a helmet characters stick out like sore thumbs, unless you’re human. There’s really no need to flesh the idea out.
Every race should get race-themed armor at the start, they won’t look impressive so that armor later on would still look nice:

Humans would have a more millitia garb
Norn would have ceremonial clothes or fur coats
Asura would student look clothes
Sylvari would have leaves n’ stuff
and Charr would have standard armor, but with their legion’s symbol a la guild armor

Starter armor would no longer be acquired on start, but through class-quests early on. It’d sort out lore issues, like how my sylvari met a warlord before awakening.

I have played guild wars and the dual class system worked very well, but that was back when energy and armor were still features. Therefor a warrior/elementalist would have to play very differently than a regular elementalist because he couldn’t afford to spam expensive skills. Also classes would no longer have little specialties seeing as a thief, expert at single targeting could switch to elementalist, expert at aoe.
This would also mess with class mechanics, how would a sword/knife thief/ele work?

Also a warrior/ele would be hell to balance, seeing as you can cast any signet without downsides with set in stone and have a 40% reduction on cooldown, permanent 160 precision, 70% longer bleeds, 15% more damage to bleeding targets, 20% to burn melee signet of restoration would be a straight upgrade.

Imagine trying to balance that. Classes would be based on exploiting the dual class system. So in a way… classes would be less diverse?
