I went to that POI, but when I got the 4 map completions style chests, all I got out of all 4 was precisely 8001 experience. So I guess it’s just one of those weird things.
Recruitment is open once again, bumping for effect.
Bumping as recruitment has opened back up!
What is Project Knighthood:
We are an NA, PvE focused guild that, to put it simply, is like an extended family, only with hopefully less drama. Our goal is to provide a smaller, yet closer guild who can talk to each other about anything in addition to actually playing the game itself with each other. We try to give you a place to go, as well as a reason to log in!
Recruitment:
Our recruitment process is thus- the first step is filling out a formal application, followed by an interview with myself, the recruitment officer. This is followed by a 2 week minimum ‘trial period.’ During this time, we invite you to our guild and Discord, and you have access to everything in the guild save the guild bank, special monthly guild events, and certain subforums on our guild website.
Requirements to Pass Muster: Different guilds have different requirements, depending on their size and goals as a guild. We strive for two things. Fostering a sense of community, as well as providing people to play with when online at least during popular hours. Our requirements reflect this. We ask that you be active within the game or strongly active in the guild Discord twice a week for your squire period, simple as that.
Other Requirements:
As a guild, we ask that we are your main PvE guild. As we also have a guild Discord, it’s also our strong hope that you use it, even if you can’t talk in voice, but it’s not a requirement. Our representation requirement is only that you rep us when doing major content with the guild, such as raids or guild missions. We do not have an age or experience requirement either. As a casual guild, that would directly contradict our style, after all! That being said, we do expect at least trace amounts of maturity, and we do have specific voice and drama-free policies in place. If you wish to know more, contact me or comment below.
Other Guild Information:
Guild Schedule: Our guild offers events 4 days a week that are open to any guild members, sponsored and ran by guild officers. These include fractals, dungeons, guild missions/events, and mapping/miscellaneous events, and lately, WvW, on a flexible schedule. Full members vote for what events the guild will promote on W/Th/F/Sun. 2 other days are used for progression raiding on M/Tu, which is selective to those who have passed our raid requirements. Speaking of, we hold open raiding on Saturday nights on a first-come basis in which any member (squires included) can partake. Our scheduled events happen starting at 9 CST to allow for the most members to make it, but you will often find at least a few members on before or after to do other content with.
Absences: Yes, we understand that real life does, in fact, happen (surprise!). We have policies in place that allow for both excused and unexcused absences, designed to allow some leeway but also prevent people from disappearing (to an extent. No system for this is ever perfect). If you don’t know if you’ll be able to meet the requirements for passing your squire period, just reach out! We allow extensions or re-applications should the situation call for it.
Current Recruitment: Slowed
We are currently have our target number of applicants and as such are deferring applications until after interviews take place. Once we get them sorted, we’ll open it up again on a person-by-person basis with more emphasis on the interview. TL;DR- you can still apply, but you may not get in immediately.
Wow:
You actually made it through to the end, congrats! I admire your patience. If you’ve read my essay and still wish to apply, feel free to comment below with a way to reach out to you (via game, Discord, Reddit), or contact me yourself! I’ve linked all relevant information that you should need below.
Last but not least, I’m looking forward to meeting you! -SconeOfDoom

If you’re looking at this forum, you’ll be seeing a lot of posts about how different things are down. Well, it’s not just you. Raids, dungeons, fractals, PvP, guild hall, SAB, basically any instanced area in the game is down. No, it’s not you. My guild and I tested each and every one of these. I’m sure Anet’s aware of this by now, so I’ll end it here. Good luck Anet, hope that it’s nothing too major!
Alright, so we had a big turnout again for recruitment, and as such we’re gonna close it down for the cycle! If you still think we’re the perfect fit and are willing to wait a few weeks, feel free to get in touch with us, but until then we’re gonna close this down. Thanks again to everyone who applied!
Hey there Bigred! I’m Scone, the recruitment officer for our guild. I’ll try to get in contact with you in game sometime later today, and we do still have spots! To give you info on what you’re looking for, we do have raid groups, and a raid training program that if you want to raid with us you’ll have to pass. Even if you’re experienced, it gets you acquainted with raiding with our guild and how we like to do things. As far as fractals, we schedule official fractal times 3 times a week, and while it’s not T4 every time, when it’s not we usually do T4s later in the evening most days once those of us that are T4 capable are done with the other scheduled guild events. But yeah, I’ll definitely contact you in game so we can talk more if you want.
Wow, so since I posted this we actually got a few more applications! Thanks to everyone who applied, but we’re now closing the recruitment process for those who haven’t already applied. If you still want in and are willing to wait, we’ll be opening it back up in 2-3 weeks!
Hey there people! So, we actually had most of those applications get filled last night. That being said, we still have one or two more spots open before we close it off. If you want in, there’s still space, and we’ll give anyone a fair shot until we close down completely, so until then, come one come all!
You are correct, you’d either have to transfer from EU to NA or make a separate account entirely, as the two regions have their own megaservers. So while you could technically transfer, that would require gems and also might cause latency issues. (Note: not from their guild, just a helpful bystander).
Just a by the way, your server (as long as you’re on the NA or EU servers) doesn’t matter for anything except WvW. You can PvP or PvE with anyone on any server. So, hopefully that helps a bit with your search!
Last update, all of our squire spots have been filled! We won’t be accepting any more guild applications until after the new year hits. If we sound like a guild that you really want into, feel free to still get in contact with me or DKShang, and we’ll try to fast track you to our first squire period in 2017! Until then, though, I bid you adieu.
Just an update, we still have one spot open and available for anyone willing to claim it (well, almost anyone, but I swear we aren’t that picky!). As said previously, recruitment will close as of the 9th, so if you want in, get in touch before then or you’ll have to wait until the holidays pass and we open recruitment back up in January. That’s all, carry on, shoo fly, please bother me, we love new guidlies.
No problem! Feel free to take a couple of days to think it over. Our recruitment period is going to close early on the 9th so that we can focus on the squires and members we do have and make sure that the new squires feel especially welcome. That being said, since I reached out to you, if you haven’t decided by then and want to join us a bit after, I’ll make an exception- after all, I was the exception as a 4th squire when we were only taking 3 at a time.
But again, best of luck finding the right guild for you! As a recruitment officer, I’d rather you join a guild that helps you stick with the game over joining us if we can’t do that for you.
Hey there! I’m SconeOfDoom, the recruitment officer for Project Knighthood. We are a PvE focused guild that does any and every form of PvE content. We have a weekly schedule for mapping, dungeons, fractals, guild missions, and a night or two devoted to requests for content that full members can make, like LS2 full achievement runs for example.
While we don’t have an age requirement, our youngest member (that I know of) is a senior in high school, while our oldest members have kids who got them into the game! Our average age is probably in our 20s as a guild. As such, while we do joke around, I like to think that we also maintain a fairly mature environment.
We are active most weeknights, and most events start at 8 CST (or 9 EST), so a bit earlier then what you may be looking for, but outside of guild missions or mapping, events tend to go on for a couple of hours, and we also have people always looking for random excursions for fractals or dungeons.
As far as gearing goes, we only require certain builds for raids. Anything else, you can run whatever you please! As I just mentioned, we do offer raids as well, but since we as a guild have only cleared up to Sab, we do require mostly meta builds so that we don’t hamper ourselves.
For repping, we don’t require repping outside of content you do with us like guild missions or mapping, but even while raiding with us we wouldn’t require repping since everyone would know where you’re from anyways.
Anyways, I think I covered most of your points! If this all sounds good to you, feel free to visit our forum page: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor/KNHD-Project-Knighthood-NA-PvE/first
Or, you can skip that and contact me directly, either here or in game with SconeOfDoom.8213. I can answer any additional questions you have. If we don’t sound like a good fit for you, I wish you the best of luck!
Hey there Griffin, I happen to be a recruiter for my guild, and as I was reading your post, I noticed that there were a couple of things that it was missing that I would want to know. For example, are you NA or EU, and what would your time zone be? Are you interested in PvE, PvP, or WvW? WvW is the only content that is gated by server.
Also, if you still haven’t found a guild yet, feel free to check us out: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/community/lookingfor/KNHD-Project-Knighthood-NA-PvE/first
If we happen to be what you’re looking for, feel free to comment so we can contact you, or get ahold of us yourself if you want!
Hiya, SconeOfDoom here! I also just so happen to be our guild’s recruitment officer, so you can also contact me too if you can’t get ahold of that other guy. Also, I feel like I should mention that as a guild, we have started up raids again! We now run any and all PvE content, for people of any and all experience levels, so if that’s what you want, feel free to read up and if you still like what you see, then give us a try.
Actually, if you have your Tailoring at 500 already, buying Ascended gear costs more than crafting it. It takes over 180 fractal matrices for any piece of exotic gear, and those sell for over 30 silver each for a total of 60 gold, plus the 56 gold it would take with it, for a minimum of 115 gold spent to buy a piece of armor, in addition to using a couple hundred fractal relics and some fractal pages. According to GW2 efficiency, crafting the boots otherwise would cost just under 80 gold if you were able to craft everything, including time-gated stuff, or 100 gold if you were to just buy everything instantly off the TP. Crafting is by far the most consistent way to get ascended stuff. Depending on how high your crafting already is, you would probably save money leveling your Tailoring to 500 before crafting a full set than if you just bought it all from the fractal vendor (For reference, to buy all 6 armor pieces would be at least 70 gold more than crafting it, I’m too lazy to do all the math so I gave a very conservative estimate here. So if it takes less than 70 gold to get your crafting to 500, I would advise that over buying from the fractal vendor, especially since you now have your crafting at 500 which is useful by itself).
That being said, if you can get into a raid and actually clear stuff, using the raid currency (Magnetite Shards I believe) becomes the cheapest way of obtaining ascended gear from a gold standpoint, assuming you don’t need the raid currency for anything else. The raid currency essentially is like the fractal matrices except that you can’t sell them on the TP, meaning that there’s no reason to not use them on what you want.
Also, like Apharma said T4 fractal chests supposedly have a 30% drop rate on ascended loot boxes (weapons and armor), although I have found it to be much lower. That being said, if you do your Daily T4s, you should get at least one ascended box a week if not more. You can’t really T4 until you get more AR though, so this is for future reference. Once you get your first set of ascended stuff, I would personally recommend not making a second set via crafting or buying. The reason being that, if you fractal, you will get that set over time, and unless you are playing a class like Druid and need multiple sets of armor, there’s no reason to worry about a second set for your character. Also, say you want ascended armor for a second character. Think of how much time you spent on your Ele, playing the game, in order to get this first set of ascended gear, enough that you feel comfortable doing higher level content. Chances are that by the time you get to this level of comfort on another class, you will have gotten enough ascended item drops that you might only have to make 1-3 pieces or something like that, especially since the only content that literally requires ascended armor is fractals because you need the infusion slots and nobody has the time or money to get ten +15 Agony Infusions to slot into their trinkets so that they don’t need ascended armor (trust me, if you have full ascended armor and weapons and full trinket slots, you get to 162 AR from filling each slot with one +9, and that doesn’t include and AR that you can get from the Tear of Alba potion that raises your AR).
Also I agree with Apharma on that anyone that requires ascended gear for raids is being elitist. Full ascended gear only offers about a 5-7% DPS increase (I think), but even more than that there was a video on Reddit released a week ago of a 3 man Vale Guardian clear, and I have seen 7, 8, and 9 man clears. Not saying that everyone is capable of this, but if people can clear a raid with only 7 people, then a full party with just exotic gear can definitely clear a raid if they know the mechanics well enough. The DPS increase is only a safety cushion to get through phases faster so that you don’t have time to make as many mistakes is all.
Hopefully this helps. I only have my Ele fully ascended (I’ve gotten two armor chests in about two weeks to put onto my work in progress Chrono) and it’s by far my most played class, and I remember stressing over ascended gear to get into fractals. If you want to, grind AB for it, but by no means do you have to rush. Like I said, it’s only necessary for higher fractals, but taking it slow forces you to learn the fractals anyways so you can get better as you go!
Good luck!
I think that’s where our main differences lie. I haven’t played PvP, but I put in about ten hours into WvW this past week so I can understand where you are coming from on a lot of these things. To be honest, ANet just needs to go all out by making skills different in PvE and PvP, rather than just some changes like making Lava Font last shorter in PvP I think (or its CD is longer, one of the two). That in and of itself would solve so many game health problems, especially since when you go in and out of PvP it already saves separate builds so you don’t have to swap around every single time.
We can always hope that they will do this, and as a result, balance the game better overall. Would be so nice.
Utilities:
-Glyphs: Glyph of Elemental power if actually fine as is. Not needed if you are going full DPS, but it can be really usefull in some situations. For example, I occasionally run this is my party really lacks break-bar, as the chill, cripple and weakness all slowly chip away at it, and it also acts as a stunbreak. Useful for fights where you need to range with staff against a mobile target where they often move outside of Glyph of Storms and Lava Font because it helps keep burning stacks passively. Most importantly, it;s a Stunbreak on a 30 second CD, so it;s extremely useful in fights where you know that you’ll be hard CC’d a lot. The only Glyph I would change at all would be Glyph of renewal, and that;s because in GW2 channeling an ability for over 3 seconds is very hard, especially if the ability is meant to revive allies which means that there are less targets to take aggro. Very few uses overall, could use a cast-time buff of maybe half a second to make it worth taking in specific encounters.
-Conjures: Ice bow is actually in a fine spot now. I wish that it wasn;t nerfed so hard, but that being said it’s still actually a really good conjure if you need break-bar or against large targets. Earth Shield could actually be viable if it took up Utility slots instead of weapon slot, but since it doesn’t it’s best use is for breaking bars, which Frost Bow does better. Focus offhand also can give invulnerability. The only thing Earth Shielf offers is a pull. Just doesn;t mesh well with current Elementalist and I don’t know how I would change it. Flame Axe combines a lot of skills from many fire weapons, mostly on a shorter CD. Unfortunately, the onlt really useful abilities would be Burning Retreat or Flame Leap, but you already have Burning retreat on staff and Burning Speed on Dagger, so there’s no real reason to take it unless you need the mobility for traveling. Would have to make the damage on the auto comparable to Fireball to make it worth an utility slot, to use in between lava fonts to blast finish and leap in to Ring of Fire and Dash back out to stack some good burning. Lightning Hammer is in a decent spot right now with a launch, dash, lightning storm and another Static Field, which is super useful as I mentioned before. Better than Icebow against multiple targets for CC but worse against single targets.
-Signet: These probably need a bit of work too. Signet of Water curing a condition only once every ten seconds isn;t worth it taking, you would be better off taking the Water Trailine instead of sacrificing a utility slot if you actually need the condition removal badly enough to take it. Signet of Earth also isn;t that good, as the Elementalist has super low base health. a little bit of toughness won’t prevent too many of your deaths unless you are stacking up on toughness. Signets of Air and Fire are good right now.
-Cantrips: The only Cantrip that I think needs a CD reduction is Armor of Earth. Armor of Earth is super strong, but only for 6 seconds. Then you’re left without a Utility slot for the next 69 seconds. Mist Form could use a bit of a CD reduction, but not much. The reason being is that if you are ever in a situation where you require the survivability that Vantrips can grant you more than once every 50-60 seconds, you should either dedicate even more survivability to your bar, or swap up your traits. Except when toing timed things like Raids or Collection challenges like defeating Mai Trin in under 25 minutes, surviving is more important than dealing max DPS. If you seriously can’t survive, swap up for survivability, low DPS over 6 minutes is better than max DPS over the 2 minutes you would have otherwise been alive.
Man, this was a long post, and I shoulda gone to sleep hours ago, but oh well. Also keep in mind that most of my opinions are based on PvE stuff, and were made keepin in mind that the Elementalsit always has access to 20 weapon skills at all times, and is still currently best DPS in optimal setting, with Thief being the only real contender. As such, if the Elementalist is getting buffed, then most other classes should be getting overall buffed too, otherwise Elementalists will be all that’s left at the top.
I will also come back tomorrow to edit this a bit for better formatting and to clean up any errors, be they in writing or judgement made by my now sleep deprived brain.
Traitlines:
- Fire: I dunno what you are talking about, but the Fire traitline is even more must-have then Tempest if you are running any kind of staff build. Fire is fine as is.
-Water: Perfectly fine as well. I don’t know what things that you think could use a change, but it can provide good condition cleanse, healing over time, regeneration, and even aura sharing. I don’t know what more you could want out of a healing-based trait line.
-You’re right in that Air is very strong right now. Ferocious Winds, Weak Spot and either Fresh Air or Bolt to the Heart are vital to any DPS build that you run regardless of weapon. I just wish that Fire was on par with Air for non-staff builds.
-I agree that the Arcane line in general could use the most work. In any competitive setting in PvE, a full berserker Elementalist should be around 60% crit chance without signet of fire, fury, Spotter, or food and nourishment, etc. In raids, the fact that Arcane spells always crit is a given anyways. I agree that Arcane Shield could use a CD reduction, but not too much. After all, it does stunbreak and explode for damage, and it’s CD can be reduced by 20% (down to 48 as of now) if you are running arcane.
-Earth: It already grants bonus toughness while attuned to earth, just saying. It also reduces the amount of damage you take from foes in close range, and can be traited to apply protection and stability, it does have some condition removal but not much as that should be Water’s job as the healing trait line, and can even protect you from ever being critically hit! Would be a solid trait line in PvE if you really need survivability, but probably not needed. Elementalist needs more active defense than passive defense in PvE. However, this is a very strong trait line in PvP if memory serves.
Staff:
-Fireball is fine, if anything the travel delay could be lessened by like .1-.2 seconds, hitting 3 targets at 1200 range is good enough.
- I agree that Lava font’s initial tick should come a bit closer to the initial cast, but that’s it. If you want it to tick faster, I would make it tick twice as fast but deal half damage per tick, which would make it much more viable against moving targets (think final boss on Chaos fractal- UGH).
-Flame burst could use a third stack of burn is all, just enough to make it worth using to keep burning uptime.
-Burning Retreat’s CD is fine. It’s your get-out-of-jail free card in a sense, since it has such a long travel distance and is an evade. If you need to use this skill more than once every 20 seconds then you either need more survivability from other skills based on the encounter (and believe me, you have access to them!) or just work on your positioning. After all, every one of your weapon abilities is 1200 range, so use the range!
-I haven’t watched the video, but Meteor shower is fine as is. It has 24 impacts, and each can hit 3 targets, for up to a total of 72 hits, which is more than any other ability in the game as far as I know. It also only has a 30 seconds CD. If it also knocked back it would be the MOST OP ability in the game by far, and it woulda been nerfed to it’s current state about a week after release.
-Water blast isn;t meant to damage. There’s a reason that it has an AoE heal on impact. It’s fine, even good for emergency healing where you untarget and hit the ground or a nearby wall.
-I have less problems with Ice Spike than with Dragon’s Tooth, since it has a larger impact radius, but I wouldn;t mind a slight damage reduction for an increased cast speed.
-Geyser is fine. Decent heal while in zerker gear but also is a combo field which you can blast for regen. Would be nice if it healed more consistently on allies that run through it though.
-Frozen ground’s low chill amount is fine because it’s over such a large readius, but not for the length of a 40 second CD. Maybe make it 32 seconds.
-Healing Rain is fine, covers a HUGE radius, gives 9 stacks of regen over 6 seconds and cures 3 conditions on up to 5 seconds, worth the 40 second CD
-Chain lightning could use a slight damage buff, since the majority of the time that you hit 3 targets with it, you would also hit the three targets with Gireball, but for more than 1k damage more. Only strong when there are 2 targets side by side so that you can bounce from one target to the next and back again, but still the damage isn’t comparable to Fireball. Only needs slight buff though.
-Gust would be fine if it was more consistent. I would make it an instant ability, no reason to have it be a projectile when Updraft and Gale aren’t. 400 knockback is actually a really strong CC, expecially for a class that can sit at 1200 range.
-Slow is a very special condition, applied by very few abilities. Windborne Speed is fine as is.
-Static Field is great as is. Can affect up to 10 targets, but most importantly, it’s unblockable! That makes it worth using in and of itself. Not willing to trade that or the 2 second stun for a shorter CD.
-Stoning shouldn;t apply bleeding, but is fine as is. People underestimate weakness until they are hit with it before they die shortly after.
-Eruption is fine, as it is a very wide radius ability, making it flexible when placing it with fields for blasting, and has a very short CD for the damage it does.
-Nowadays, Magnetic Aura is not our only projectile defense. You also have Earth Overload, Aftershock and Rebound, Just with Magnetic Aura and Earth Overload, you get 9 seconds of reflect every 30 seconds if traited, which is actually pretty good.
-I wish Unsteady Ground worked better as well. Would be nice if it actually had some use for breaking Defiance Bars, should be changed to knock back targets that cross it instead of preventing targets that cross it to fix that, if it did that it would be worth the 30 second CD but as is could be 25 seconds.
-I agree that shockwave should be unblockable
As far as dagger goes:
-Dragon’s Claw either needs to deal more damage per individual hit or needs to get rid of the split projectile is the change that it needs. Elementalists are the squishiest class in the game at a base level, and to hit all 3 strikes on a normal hitbox you have to be WAY too close for comfort. Otherwise it’s fine IMO.
-Burning Speed is fine. It has a bit of a long CD, but it leaves a fire trail as a field and it has a good amount of burst damage.
-Ring of Fire could be better based on CD length. Maybe increase the burning to two stacks on pass through, but as it’s a ring it’s pretty easy to get at least one hit.
-Fire grabs consistency is the only problem
-Vapor Blade just needs to speed up. It’s not meant to deal much damage, but it’s a long range Vulnerability stacker. It just needs a speed increase to reliable hit mobile targets just to make it on par with things like Revenant sword auto, etc.
-Cone of Cold just needs a slight buff.
-Frozen burst if fine as it’s a 3 second chill that’s also a blast finisher.
-With the nerfs to Auramancer, Frost Aura needs a CD reduction.
-I agree that Cleansing wave either needs more condition cleanse, a lower cooldown, or an added effect, maybe a knockback or regen like Tidal Surge, which does almost the same level of healing, knocks back, and grants regen, with a 5 second lower CD, and you can even trait to have regen remove conditions.
-Lightning whip should be stronger for most situations. It’s shorter range so it’s more risky, and Staff AA can hit up to 3 targets, and only one of them has to be in range, so your bounce can hit target up to even 1500 range. Low DPS doesn;t matter if the enemy is doing no DPS to you.
-Lightning touch is fine, earth is more about the cripple and slowing your targets
-Updraft could use a bit shorter CD, only really good for breaking the Defiance bar or escaping combat.
-Impale’s damage would be fine, if Condi Elementalist was even close to viable. An 8 second bleed stack on auto isn’t that bad, except when your only other bleeds are Ring of Earth (only one stack), Churning Earth, and Earth Overload. As is, Ring of Earth requires you to be close to hit, meaning it’s hard to use to stack bleeds, meaning you will only reasonably have about 20 bleed stacks at a time. When I fractaled earlier today, our lone Necromancer was able to get up to a peak of 100 bleed stacks on Old Tom because our druid was healing the minions. Need I say more?
-Ring of Earth’s projectile block is incredibly hard to time, and not that consistent. Either the wall duration needs to be lengthened slightly to more consistenly block projectiles or it needs to deal two stacks of bleeding IMO.
-I agree, Earthquake’s CD is way too long.
-Churning Earth is fine. Cripples, blast finishes, and gives 8 stakcs of bleed on only a 35 second CD, ot’s better than most other offhand dagger skills already.
Focus:
-Flame wall should be thicker for more burning applications or should inflict 2 stakcs of burning, as such now it’s only good for blasting might or on stationary targets.
-Fire shield is decent in concept with Aura synergy, but they just nerfed Auramancer because they don’t want Ele to be able to do everything, and this skill got left behind. Ele’s can’t survive many hits to begin with in PvE, so the 4 or 5 might stacks you gain as you die aren’t worth much. Needs to also burn attacker or grant 2 stacks of might or something, Idk.
-Freesing Gust is really weak compared to Grozen burst (AoE chill, blast finisher, 12 second CD) and Flash-Freeze (ranged multi-target chill that also grants a frost aura), needs slight CD buff
-Yes needs a bit of CD reduction, but not much, knockdown is a really strong CC effect, especially for 2 seconds
-Please don’t change Magnetic wave, I loves it
-Obsidian Flesh is 4 seconds of invulnerability! This means that you take no damage, cannot receive conditions, cannot be CC’d, basically you can get away with anything but falling to your death while this is active. Deserves the 50 second CD.
Hmmmm. To begin this post, let me start by saying that’s I’ve only been playing GW2 for about two and a half months. However, in that time I’ve also played over 400 hours for about 5 hours per day, and 300 of those hours are on Elementalist, so I have picked up on some things.
Also, I will format this come tomorrow, as it’s long and probably needs it but I am too tired now. That being said, let’s start this off:
I agree a lot about how Scepter just needs some love. I haven’t played hardly any PvP, but there is absolutely no situation in which I wish I was using scepter instead of staff or dagger. Elementalist only has one two-handed weapon, two mainhand weapons, and three offhand weapons, for a total of six total weapon slots possible. There is absolutely no reason that any of these weapon sets shouldn’t be viable in at least a specific situation, otherwise that just further shrinks the pool.
Yes, scholar zerker is still top. I can’t speak for PvP, but in PvE Elementalists are still quite strong. Only a few big changes come to mind-
Fractals have been updated. They upped health scaling base toughness levels, but got rid of toughness scaling completely. Essentially, while 4 Necromancers and 1 Druid is still a strong comp, it’s no longer 100x better than everything else, because power classess like Elementalist now deal much more DPS to make them on par or even stronger than condition builds.
In raids, Elementalists are still the top dogs in ideal situations, like Gorseval due to his large hitbox. against smaller hitboxes though, Elementalists aren’t as necessary anymore, especially since the buffs to Guardian make Scepter/Torch a very strong and easy power DPS class. If you want to know more about the raid meta, I suggest going to qT’s website, where they have updated optimal DPS charts for every relevant build, like staff and fresh air Ele for example.
I’ve only been playing the game for a few months myself, but if you stopped playing sometime in April, they changed A LOT OF STUFF IN APRIL. I won’t bother listing it here since there is way too much relevant information, both about Elementalist and pretty much at least a little of everything else as well.
Bonus tip: If you want to make gold, go into Auric Basin about 20 minutes before an odd hour in GW2’s time zone (can be shown on minimap if you turn on the option) and ask what a “Multimap” is. Then participate and enjoy anywhere a minimum of 5 rares per map in addition to a bunch of other loot and loot bags, as well as more bloodstone, empyreal fragments, and dragonite ore than you will ever need.
I really like that last idea @jski.6180 , maybe it could go something like this:
Name- Elemental (couldn’t think of a better one, sorry)
New Weapon- Doesn’t really matter for this Specialization
New Mechanic- Channel- While spending time in an attunement, the Elementalist channel the power of elementals. When fully channeled, the Elementalist can attune itself with the elements, becoming an elemental for a short period of time. While in elemental form, gain element specific buffs and access to new weapon skills, but lose access to your utilities. The transformation can be ended early to retain stored elemental magic, but places “attune” on a cooldown.
New Utilities- I was thinking elemental wells, kinda like Necromancer wells, but something else could work as well. Maybe traps. Mantras could also work quite well here.
General Idea- The whole point of being an elementalist is to channel the power of the elements, and the purest form of the elements are elementals themselves, so why shouldn’t we be able to turn into one? This would function similarly to Necromancer’s Death Shroud, but without the additional health. Instead, you would get a buff (like +150 power in fire, +150 toughness in earth, etc) and access to more abilities. Other things could work as well, like maybe an empowered auto attack instead or something. Regardless, this would look so cool and be instantly iconic in my eyes.
Name: Enchanter
Niche: Area buffs and debuffs
New Weapon: Idk any other weapons that fit Elementalist, maybe offhand Scepter, that could work well. Or mainhand Focus if Anet wants a good laugh.
New Mechanic: Swapping attunements triggers an area effect. I have two ideas. Swapping attunements triggers a blast or grants a set of AoE buffs and debuffs. For example, swapping to fire grants 3 might stacks and blasts the area, or swapping to fire grants fury and burns enemies, etc.
New Utilities: Traps, with a different trap for each attunement. For example, the fire trap could burn enemies and create a short term lava font on trigger, water trap could chill enemies and grant regen to allies, etc.
General Idea: With this Elite Spec, Elementalist would specialize in buffs and debuffs and controlling the battlefield with AoE buffs/debuffs, rather than going straight DPS or straight heal like most Eles nowadays. This spec would be similar to Rev Herald stance but with less availability for buffs and access to more debuffs. Also, it encourages rapid swapping of attunements in order to get the most out of each attunement bonus/blast, kinda opposite of overload where you stay in an attunement long enough to overload it and then swait for it to come off CD (fresh air excepted, of course).
I entered the instance for the Story Quest “Stealing Secrets,” ran/used Infiltrator’s Arrow once to talk to Tybalt, and skipped the dialogue. Afterwards, when I spoke to Riel, when the cutscene played, there was no audio with it. Instead, my character (level 46 Human female Thief) said a word or two, and I randomly heard Tybalt’s line, “Keep your voice down, initiate, and pretend that you’re buying some apples!” (or something like that). Also, my character’s name and Tybalt’s name would appear in the black windowed area at the bottom of the screen below the cutscene, probably to indicate when we were speaking in the previous dialogue sequence, and it seemed to follow scene swaps during the cutscene, but that could have been coincidence. Anyways, that’s it.
Hi DKShang, I read up about your guild and it seems like a pretty good one. Unfortunately, today most of my free time was taken up by having to drive my brother for 2 hours to drop him off at college before driving back myself, since he came home this weekend. I would still be down to chat some other night this week.
What I am Looking For: Hello, I am a relatively new player (only for 3-4 weeks, have HoT), and I hit 80 about a week ago and have started dungeoneering. As fun as PUGs are, it would be nice to run them with people I know that I will have fun with or not leave if we happen to wipe once or twice, as well as have a larger pool of people to play with than just those looking for people via the LFG tool! I’m looking for a guild in which I can practice up on my mechanics with in dungeons so that when I start running fractals and raids I will be an asset rather than a burden, and I’m willing and hopefully able to do other PvE gameplay such as meta events or gear hunting, etc. Willing to do quick runs or slog through the mud, I’m not picky! Not opposed to doing some PvP or WvW content if an extra person is needed. The most important thing to me is that we have a good time.
Profile: To whomever it may concern, I am a male junior in college and can only speak english, in case any guild has age/gender preferences. I am a fairly relaxed person who’s always looking for a laugh, but that doesn’t mean I’m not trying my hardest!
Server: I’m on NA and currently in Gate of Madness, but I am willing to change to another NA server after I join up if it seems like the right fit!
Time Zone/ Play Schedule: Central Time (CT, EST-1). Usually on in the afternoon/ evening (4-5:00 PM+) for anywhere from an hour to several at a time depending on the day, at least 3-4 times a week. Often I will get on for a while, get off, and return a couple of hours later.
Characters: Currently have a fully exotic geared Elementalist with 400 Tailoring, and am working on leveling a Revenant (Currently 25, probably have him 80 and geared in a week or two, already 400 in weaponsmithing), am planning on trying a Thief or Warrior next to see if I like them! Probably won’t make more than 3, as that’s enough variety to keep it from getting stale yet small enough to still play them all at a reasonable level.
Playstyle: Semi-hardcore with a casual attitude. Essentially I try to get top-notch mechanics and stay full meta gear/build myself, but I don’t expect or require it from others and won’t hold it against them. After all, gaming is supposed to be fun, so I’m not going to do anything that makes it less fun for anybody else, from rageing to holding the group back via unomptimized builds! Also, most of my gaming sessions are not planned, so while I don’t get interrupted often and can usually play for at least a couple hours straight, there might be times where I have to get off unexpectedly, and I understand that this goes for others as well.
Chat: I have Teamspeak and Skype, and am willing to download discord/ other services, but I don’t have a mic right now (outside of the built in one, which doesn’t filter out background noise at all), so it would mostly be to listen in.
If anyone is thinks I might be a good fit for their guild, feel free to ask any questions if I left something out or let me know, and I can send you my in game info then (only reason I’m not putting it now is to prevent possible spam if I happen to find the right guild quickly)
