Quick Summary of the servers from an Unbiased stance before I offer my opinion
TC: Solid T1 Server. Not often available for transfers but does have constant coverage throughout most time zones. Official Roleplaying GW2 Server. Although if u were on JQ since launch you should have an idea about what TC is like.
FA: Has become the behemoth of T2. Good Coverage and a Strong NA Prime time (there will be ques). Do field a lot of numbers on a tag and has a fair few quality guilds in NA prime
YB: This server has built from the bottom by playing the game in a way that anet intended. Kill, Grab, SEIGE! YB is the official Seige server in NA and will have arrow carts aplenty for you to use! Less skilled and coverage than FA but compensate with a Stupendous defense that will constantly Require golems to penetrate!
SoS: The growing server! SoS features a very unique taste to WvW in the sense that it has a lot of Non-NA population. Official OCX server and has plenty of guilds to join. NA prime is not comparable to FA or YB but is building. This server will be the easiest to join since it almost always is OPEN during SEA/EU hours.
Now for my biased opinion!
I reside on SoS and We are currently sitting pretty comfortable in T2. There are always fights available and usually the off hours are never an issue for SoS. NA prime is the weakest in T2 but we are bringing in Guilds to fix that. Our latest Project has been to focus on enhancing the community we have built of SoS by doing community events, raffles, and many more events to bond not as a server, but as a gaming family. Im excited to announce that Every Thursday in SoS, I will be hosting a community event around 2AM EST (11PM PST) In a attempt to build our community together and to begin to learn about one another through these Events!
Last Thursday, I hosted a Commander Roulette (King of the Hill) in YBBL at Watergate Garrison. It was announced on Wednesday for those who followed me and were in TS with me! The Event was a complete Success and landed Both the SOS council and Artoria from Rx 37.5 gold! The laughs and strategies were real and Shoutout to TF for really making this event competitive!!!! This event will most likely be Biweekly So expect to see it again real soon!
This weeks event will be revealed exclusively Here in this Post! All questions as to what the event is should be directed here!

Starting at SMC North Gate, Contestants will use strategies and coordination to be the first person to complete a full lap around SMC! Sounds simple right!? Just beware of the various thieves and rangers and blobs that FA and YB can summon! This event is not only about speed, but also about dexterity and decision making!
Are you good enough to be crowned Champion of the Stonemists?
I will personally be placing 30G into the pot and to participate, a 4G entrance fee is required 1 hour prior to the event! As usual, Half of the pot goes to the winner, and half to the council! So choose your character Wisely and begin to coordinate with your friends on how take home the crown!
These types of Events will be happening every week roughly around the same time on SoS! I plan on announcing each event in a different way as to give those who really try to be a part of the community a competitive advantage! We now host Community Events in WvW every Thursday and Bond together as a Family. Artoria (Rx) in SoS walked home with 37.5 gold from commander roulete and the SoS council also receive 37.5 gold from the event! I remember the original T1 days of JQ-SBI-SOS. SOS still rivals a bit to JQ (shown more recently in the matchup) and to SBI. Although I don’t think we matchup to the recent rivalry between BG and JQ. Are the EU servers like that as well?
Although we are only at the half-way point of the season, we have seen some fierce rivalries within both the NA Servers and EU Servers. So whose takes the cake? Keep it classy please

Just make commander icon’s account wide, and let us choose our colors so that we can command more efficiently. This way multiple commanders can coordinate their efforts with minimal confusion.
While I too would like to see that, this thread was just a thought of creating say a 1 day Event in LA to thank and celebrate with those who have led us to victory. Obviously it will take ANET some time to change the Commander System, but can’t we at least get an appreciation event in the meanwhile? Just pitching ideas to ANet to keep GW2 active and to help reestablish better commander-follower relations

True, but you have to be aware that not every knife in the drawer is as sharp as the next. Every great commander you have run with started off not really knowing a whole lot and the only true way of becoming a solid commander (for both WvW and PvE) is through trial and error. Practice and Patience. It isn’t an overnight change and I believe most of the GW2 community can agree upon that. But to say that this is a bad idea because of some inexperience commanders isn’t really fair to the other hundreds of commanders that go hard everyday. And this is merely suggested to get ideas floating about this idea.
Can we please close this thread as it is neither on-Topic or constructive at this point. This was simply a thread to grab attention for an unchangeable circumstance.
We have been noticing that the commander icon has become more of an endangered species as of late and since ANET enjoys creating PVE and holiday events, why not have an Commander Day Event!? People in WvW and PVE all have purchased this tag and put a lot of resources into leading groups to victory and Anet has yet to improve the commander system be either through reward or functionality (for the time being).
So while ANET is working on this, Why not create an Ingame holiday to Thank/celebrate with those who have purchased a Commander Tag? This would be welcomed in all of the WvW and PvE communities (AFTER SEASON 2) and would be a way of tipping our caps to those who have lead us through thick and thin! People would be more inclined to USE their tags as well as to help make the Whole of GW2 more interesting!!!!
Every Commander has given something to this game! Isn’t it time we give a little back to them?
So please lets show ANET this and hope that we can have this happen!!!

This idea is Awful!!!!! In Fact the opposite needs to happen!
If we can reduce the server population cap, effectively we will balance out the lower tier servers. Transfer guilds/new players will leave T1&2 after season and this will effectively strengthen the competitive nature of the lower tier servers!
And please T1 and T2 already have Que problems! The last thing we want are Tiers 3-8 joining in!

Before we get thrown into this discussion I gotta know something. People are saying that they love getting CC’ed 5 or 6 times…. This would imply that you are fighting a group/zerg or a really annoying hammer/mace-shield warrior. If this problem is persistant in group fights you need more guardians for Stability. Plain and simple. Guardians are the key to ignoring CC and for supporting those who are affected by it. Now if we are talking about just fighting a certain class than I can understand. But for say zerg/group/havoc fights, Guardians are a must have. Just how the meta works.
And no I’m not implying people MUST run those runes/food. Just suggesting a way to combat the CC’s without the use of guardian stability or Group condi removal
I would be ALL FOR allowing people to bypass the penalty for say 2800 gems. To me anyone willing to do that honestly shows their dedication to the game/server that they’d throw 35$ to play it. Plus that would make it fair for the people like Warhawk.
If that fact is true, than agreed. However My suggestion would be to use meladru Runes with Poultry and leek soup! Each person can use these and effectively reduce how often they get CC’ed by condis (Improved more with certain class traits). As far as Stuns go I believe every class has a skill that either grants stability or breaks stuns. As it stands now I’m personally satisfied where the game is at in relation to CC and condis. However come April 15th we will see if things change.
I’d respectfully disagree with you there. Season play gives the server communities a larger sense of Unity and allows for people to meet new people that they might not otherwise meet. It also gives WvW a much more Competitive spirit and a sense of importance. Plus there are way more rewards/achievements/lootbags during season play. I like the idea of WvW Seasons, it just needs tweeking to allow for more competitive gameplay (allowing for more even server fights)
There is a simple counter to Stuns: Stability/Stun Breakers
There is a simple counter to Immobilizations/chills/cripples: condi removal skills OR condi duration reduction food/armor stats.
If you are suffering from these effects simply adjust your gear/playing style/skills to compensate for these adversities.
ANET do not change a thing. This is the one part of WVW combat that you guys nailed since release!!!! Focus on giving WvWers more rewards and achievements for going to battle each and every day!
Why are we all complaining? The Devs of WvW made it clear of the penalty of transferring midseason and you took the penalty. You choose to desert your current server to bandwagon off of another (EU or NA)! It’s the fault of the player for not scouting out the servers prior to the start of season and for deserting your server!!! So please close this thread as it has been addressed enough times.
Believe me when I say that my original idea wasn’t to ‘clean out’ The server population of the High Tier Servers. While decreasing the Server Population Cap will stop people from ‘Joining the bandwagon’, It wont Kick anyone who is already playing In that Server. Its just a way of allowing the other servers to gather more transfer guilds as well as new players rather than letting them into an overpopulated server (compared to the others).
To avoid ‘Stacking’ Servers as was done in seasons 1 and 2, I’d suggest lowering the Server Cap. As it stands, There are obvious differences in coverage from tier to tier. To fight this problem and to allow rebalancing of the servers, I would suggest lowering the number people allowed to be on all servers (which wont hurt the PVE Crowd with the implementation of the MEGA-Server system). This would, in turn, eliminate the strategy of stacking servers for tournaments as well as rebalance the other tiers and allowing for a more competitive tournament/WvW experience.
ANET can still implement transfer sales to lower tier NA/EU Servers prior to season 3 which will clean the Full Servers out.
Any other Ideas to help fight the “Stacking Strategy” would help as I think we are all tired of fighting against stacked servers as well as fighting in one with its enormous que times.
Again warriors ARE NOT the only class that can instant revive. Necros, Guardians, and Eles also have a instant revive ability that they can spam. We can stop the warriors no problem, but other classes can revive from 900 range or more! The attacking force already has to worry about clearing the cap circle, Keeping the lord dead, stopping enemies from entering multiple directions, and surviving the pressure being applied to them. It shouldn’t be allowed to instantly revive the lord 40 times to defend a fortification. The game is just rewarding bad defense at that point.
You play on GoM where there are more tumbleweeds in the borderlands than players. But in higher tiers its a problem. With literally every borderland qued for season 2 in T1 and T2 the banner abuse is a problem. Not saying this out of disrespect to lower tier servers but yall have no idea how bad it is for the higher tier servers. 140+players attacking and defending means the revives are endless and its beginning to discourage players from even attacking certain objectives. And trust me when I say T1 and T2 have no problems communicating a 70 man offensive!

However like I said before this problem is only prevalent in the EB keeps/SMC and Garrison Keep (as those literally take under a minute to run back to after dying). I believe that a limit of the amount of instant-revives the lord has OR not resetting the cap bar after a revive are all viable and necessary changes that would make WvW in general more interesting, fair, and entertaining (especially considering that we are at the height of WvW activity right now for season 2).
Did you not consider this was by design? That anet wants certain objectives to be hard to flip. Geeze
Considering that siege, players, NPC’s, and close spawns already make it incredibly difficult to flip those keeps, The least Anet could do for us is fix this problem. I’m not saying that Bannering the lord should be removed by any means, but the current system needs work badly. A server shouldn’t be rewarded for bannering the lord over and over again until the attacking force has been weakened and removed. Just rewarding that server for bad defense.

Warriors aren’t the only class who can instant-revive (or ‘banner’) a lord. Guardians, Necros, Eles, and a few other classes as well can revive or ‘banner’ with signets and other utility skills. This is often abused at Garrison Keeps as well as EB and SMC keeps. I don’t know how prevalent this problem is outside of Gold League Servers but this really does need to be addressed.
Dear Anet…. I realize its a ‘strategy’ to use War-banners, signets, etc. to revive A keep/tower lord but its becoming abused. When gold and other forms of currency are used to attack and siege a keep, its shouldn’t be viable to have 30 War-banners used to wear down the attacking force and defend the keep. Would it be possible to restrict how many times the Lord can be Insta-rezzed? Or to NOT reset the cap-bar when the lord is bannered? This would bring more stability and fairness into WvW as currently Lord bannering can be quite broken.

T2 Has change a LOT from TC’s days in it. SOS has grown in the EU slot with the guilds PAIN and ZOD and Lion running. It comes down to what you prefer. TC is T1. Long Ques, blobs, and zerg lag. SOS is T2 and is the same to a lesser extent.
Still recommend SoS. We have Great OCX/SEA/EU coverage and would love for you to join our tightknit community! The gem price may be high but it’ll be well worth your money to join a competitive off hour wvw server
Do the transfer restrictions start on the day of Friday or at reset? This is something I’ve asked my server and couldn’t get a definite answer on….
SOS has been a server/gaming community that prides on not buying guilds and being a competitive server with the gold league beasts! We are considered y underdogs against the Super Stacked servers of BG,JQ, and TC but we have added a lot to our gaming family and are looking to upset at least 1 of these servers. If you have any interest in fighting these stacked servers and joining our family come on in!!!! last day to do it and there are guilds for all timeslots for you to join with! PAIN is SoS’s newest EU time zone guild! We are a WvW focused guild that run 20 deep into the heart of the brutal tier 2 warfare! We are looking to be the difference maker for SOS during season play and hope to expand upon our vastly entertaining and friendly EU Community.
We ask for guild representation only during our raid times (9:00 PST to 12:00 PST) and for certain other base requirements to be followed (lvl 80, TeamSpeak, and builds). We are never afraid to fight outnumbered and are looking to be the force that’ll turn the tide for the great sea of sorrows!

Seems like things are getting really tight for that last spot in Gold League… Who’s going to pull away with it!? AND Is silver going to be all that bad? I’ve heard that a few Silver Servers have gotten Quite competitive….
Fun for you… but for the other 2 servers? Ya not so much. Plus u can just BUILD trebs anyway….
I was a huge fan of the idea of Free Transfers! It cleans up the tier 1 and 2 servers, Revives the communities of lower tier WvW communities, and allows the players on a ‘Dead Server’ to move (should they choose to find a more competitive WvW community). Don’t know how anyone couldn’t be a fan of this! If ur complaining about this idea than the community of the Server your playing on has NO backbone in it!!!

This would, in practicality, Monopolize non-Tier1&2 servers for EBG. Since SMC doesn’t flip that often in the lower tiers, you would be giving an even bigger advantage to have coverage on your server for EBG. Plus you can ALREADY treb from SMC… so kind of pointless….
SoS is the only Server in T2 that is going to be open and stable (meaning we are locked for Gold in T2). Mag/FA/DB are all fighting for the Final spots for T2 (not to mention we have plenty of Room on server for transfers). Just my suggestion. But if I were you I would go TeamSpeak hopping to find out more about other servers.
True that Tier 2 isn’t expected to make a splash, but there is a reason the BEST guilds avoid T1! 50+man ques on ALL maps, Rallybots, and a lack of community on T1 are why the BEST guilds of the NA time play on T2! I think the Gold league will be much more Competitive between T1 and T2 servers this time around (and of course I’m sure T2 would double team)
For OCX players your best bet for PVX is probably on an NA server. I play on SoS and we have a stellar WvW OCX core as well as a pretty populated PVE population. The Very High Population servers on NA are probably your best bet for a PVX guild.
Things on SOS have been picking up in anticipation for league play (transfers, new guilds, etc.). Wouldn’t be surprised to see us make a run against them…
Seems that the spotlight for Gold League is shining completely on T1…. Don’t count out the #4 server from making some noise during season 2!!!!
