No, you should not because you got your weekly loot. There is no point in getting additional stuff.
If somebody hasn’t gotten their rewards for a specific boss, it’s ok to get a compensation otherwise not!
Thats not what Anet said. All that matters is whether or not you completed a raid boss during the bug.

Hi there Raiders!
I’m from the Analytics team; a group of people who review what you do in game with the data you leave behind. We’re sometimes referred to as Business Intelligence or BI.
First, a little background to the methodology we used. We reviewed all of your play throughs and were able to identify each of you who were affected by this bug. What was interesting is that we found some parties where some players got a Legendary Insight, while other didn’t. Was this a result of the reward bug or was this due to weekly resets? Afterall, Monday was not affected by the bug. A few thousand of you would have been eligible, but this didn’t feel right.
So we reframed the question; How many raiding parties likely were affected by this bug? This increased the number of potentially affected players by more than 20%. We knew that this would include people who play repeat raid wings and who, in reality, wouldn’t be affected by this bug because they werent’ eligible. But we also realize that you will play with others who would be eligible. Should a player who played Gorseval on Monday, and recieved their weekly reward, receive this gift when they played on Tuesday? What about when that player noticed that others in their Tuesday raid recieved a gift and they didn’t? Maybe you didn’t get LI, but you should’ve got something, right?
We chose to err on the side of a larger number. This gift wasn’t going to impact the economy, so we felt that we’d rather apologize to all players who were in raiding parties that were affected rather than risk upsetting a sizable subset of you. This was also why we chose not to give out LI.
I don’t like pointing fingers, but it seems that this large number is likely what was to blame. Most of you we identified did receive what was promised and some haven’t yet taken the items from their mail. But, it turns out, some of you simply didn’t get our in-game mail. Sentinel, Baseraver, and Wilz, you helped us, just by being you, to identify that we had a different bug affect you. Of the thousands upon thousands of players who were deemed eligible, it seems the system we used to send in-game mail failed to send to more than a thousand of you.
It is regrettable that any of you may have been missed. Please be aware that neither Gaile, the CS team, nor Anet in general lied about giving you the gift we promised. Reading through this thred, however, made it clear that something else may have broken.
I’ve worked with the CS team specifically to re-identify those of you who feel you were promised but not delivered an apology. Another round of gifts will be going out – though there’s no change in what is being sent.
So why did it take us this long to correct this? Believe it or not, we had to collect more data from you before we could act, and that takes time; several days in this case.
Please accept our apologies for the frustration you have experienced.

I’m asking about this, in case there’s some oddity in the data that might have resulted in eligible people not making the list. From what I was hearing as the review was being done, the parameters sounded really good to me, and in fact erred on the side of generosity. But I take on board you have questions, and I’ll see if there’s anything that could have resulted in a few … what would I call them?.. false negatives?

If you feel that your group was involved in a successful raid boss encounter during the period when the bug was live, please contact Customer Support and provide as many details as possible: Date, Time, Timezone; Boss name, etc.
We have made a goodwill gesture with this distribution, and we would never knowingly exclude anyone. Knowing the care with which the data was gathered, I believe that the distributions were accurate, but you are welcome to pursue this matter and the folks with the tools to investigate it will help.

That’s fair. I’m not trying to game the system and if it turns out that we were ineligible for some reason that is fine. I just was curious because if we were for some reason overlooked, there might also be others in the same boat. I will reach out to CS, on my behalf as well as my raid squad. Thanks for being so open in communicating with us.

I’m not even sure what this means. Can we get an elaboration? Most of us would have been fine with no loot, except that we were told we would get free loot. So now it feels way worse since it is taken away…

I want to respectfully disagree with you. My entire group raided and cleared all 4 wings the night of the bug. (13 successful boss kills). Most of us never got the loot chest. Is it possible that some of us have been overlocked still?
Edit for clarity. We start our raids 1 hour before reset (7 PM EST) on Tuesdays. We cleared all 4 wings that Tuesday (June 20th?) successfully.

Just checking in to see if these are still in the mail.
Myself and several others of my raid squad cleared all 4 wings on that Tuesday, but none of us have received the chest. Not the end of the world if we don’t get it, but the post did say everyone who raided would get one.

FWIW, I have a fairly casual raid guild now, and we spent ~12hours this week on Sabetha. It’s awful. BUT, we got our Eternal kill, b/c over time people were able to learn the mechanics, know when to be there, what their job was, and we cleared it.
Whats my point? I will make it really clear.
If your group is failing to the timers, it is likely b/c your group cannot handle the mechanics, not because an arbitrary timer is causing you to fail. The real enemy is the mechanics of the boss fight

This is actually funny. Part of any game is getting better gear, knowing mechanics, and using strategy. GW2 has for a long time allowed us to use whatever gear we want, but raids are a different target audience. Just the other day I got Sabbetha down to about 0.2% before we wiped, and it turns out two of our players were running food that offered nothing to the raid. Had they been in decent food… well I would have a Sabbetha clear under my belt.
It takes hours for the average player to get the mechanics of raids down enough to not constantly wipe, and when they do fail as they learn 9 other people waste more time, money, food, energy, etc.
But hey, I’m not actually upset, it keeps people like you who would probably just cause my group to fail out of raids, and as rude as that sounds, that is fine with me.

If you could remove the timer, then skilled groups could sell raids. It would be trivial to carry some baddies (have them sit out of the circle). Raids should only be accessible if all players are activly and valueably contributing.
Also… ya know, this is only the first wing, of the first raid… who the heck knows. The next Raid might include a huge AOE dps field that you must be able to facetank for a set period of time while doing mechanics instead of direct damage… at which point zerker is completely useless. That is easy enough to design, I have faith in Anet

Raids should only have one mode, the hardest possible mode available. If you want easier content, dungeons and fractals are still available to play. Raids are not designed to be inclusive, they are designed to push players to get better. You say you’re a casual and a good player, so if you get with a good group you should be able to beat it. You may fail many times, but when you beat it that will be an incredibly satisfying moment—Those moments are what raids are all about; the catharsis from defeating a seemingly insurmountable foe is incredible. You, too, can enjoy these bosses if you’re willing to put forth the effort and join a group to overcome it.
This. 100% This. I got my first kill after 7 hours yesterday, with a group I met the day before, on a build I had never played before this week. It was a TON of work, and it required I sync up with 9 other people on TS and take hours to grind it out.
And that single kill moment was the best moment in all of GW2 thus far for me, even better than my legendary Twilight.

Anet have gone for the same High Hp Timer cop out tactic they seem to love soo much..
this is not what I want to see representing soo called Challenging content..The Vale Guardian is a kitten wimp overall.. his Ring AoE is the only attack he has that can even dent my main Raid characters Hp..
I want challenging mechanics… powerful bosses… enemies that force me to study them and learn how to deal with them.. not this high HP timer crap again.. im sick of this cheap difficulty being slapped on content instead of actual challenging content
Good God, the raid has been out for 2 days. TWO DAYS PEOPLE! (that exasperated sarcasm, not real capsyelling)
My group got our first kill last night, after about ~6 hours of total practice against him. Let me tell you what, the timer is probably perfect. This is supposed to be endgame content, it’s supposed to require innovation and challenge. Honestly my biggest problem with the Vale Guard is that my group discovered a tactic which made him a little bit too easy.
The timer exists to give you a goal to shoot for. To inspire you to figure out how to dps him down, and to ensure that you optimize everything you do. I fully believe that eventually groups will get him down well enough to just zerk faceroll the guard, but for now, we 100% would have not beaten him without our Druid (yeah, really was convinced I would never say that) and our ~1200 toughness guard. We brought condi, we brought banners, we brought alacrity, and zerkers, a tank, and a healer. <b>But most importantly each and every person needed to do their job, or the group would not have succeeded. </b>
And THIS is why, at the end of the day, the timer is important. Because without it, or if it were extended, my group could probably start selling the first encounter to pugs who afk after a couple more days. You should not be able to sell raids, they are endgame elite content. The timer exists to ensure that all players are pulling their weight, and that nobody (hopefully) can just coast through.
Have some patience, give it a try again. Find a group of people, throw them into free TS or make a guild out of them. And maybe… just maybe… (and I realize this is a novel concept for some people) Have some fun?

Try not to sweat it so much. I found a pug group on launch day, we got the Vale Guard down to 45%. We learned a bit. Yesterday that same group got back together, we refined what we had learned, experimented with tactics and after about 4 hours, we cleared the guard and got our first kill.
It’s tough. There are a lot of mechanics to pay attention to, but (and this is the big secret to our success) you have to actually pay attention.
I mean it. GW2 has taught you that the only thing that matters are red circles up to this point, well that is no longer true. Now we have optimized roles, we have strategy, watch the patterns and learn to exploit weaknesses… its actually a load of fun.
I bashed my face against that stupid boss for almost 8 full hours, and it was the most fun I have ever had playing GW2
The pugs will learn, as strats become widely available. If anything I actually think that the Vale Guard might be slightly too easy…

From what I have seen, the entire HoT story encompasses not just the story instances but also the meta events on all of the maps.
Yeah, that does seem to be the case. I wish for people like me though, who just REALLY wanted to hit the story hard (im a lore junky) that they would have strongly hinted that some of the really big chunks were in the map metas…

Hey All,
Over the past weekend I did two things
1: Completed the Personal Story of HOT
2: Did my first DS Meta Event completion
When I finished the HOT Personal Story (I wont post spoilers) I was so very very angry at the way everything worked out. To me, it felt cheap, and unfinished (not even counting having to do it 3 times due to massive bugs) and I really felt… let down.
But then I did the DS meta over the weekend, and if you have not had the chance at the absolutely epic bossfight that the Mouth of Mordremoth is, then you are missing out. To me it feels like Anet went all out and made one of the most spectacular boss fights in MMO history. I LOVED it. (even though, again, its buggy as hell)
IF the Personal Story had required me to participate in DS, or even really hinted beyond a single line of dialogue that DS was happening, I would have had a very different opinion of the game post completion.
So Anet, thanks for an epic boss fight, I REALLY WISH you had told me about it more during the Personal Story, b/c then I feel like I would have felt less …. rushed

Got my first ascended chest yesterday since HOT dropped. Did almost all possible dailies between then and now (something like 38 chests i’ve opened).
So yeah, they def drop (it was the 1-21 chest btw) but the rate is lousy

So I have the exact same feelings right now as i did when I completed the Zhaitan fight at the end of the OG release, only… worse.
The PS was so short, so easy, a handful of hours and the entire story is over. Compare that to the massive story and grind to go from 0-80 and kill zhaitain, at least when that boss fight was (lets be honest) underwhelming, we could say, but the journey was awesome.
This time I just feel let down. Anet, please. You have such great ideas, but just like the freaking Deus Ex Machina airship that saved our kittens in the first dragon fight, being able to magically use a rift to tear open the dragons mind… wasn’t even close to satisfying… and he really wasnt ever even a dragon…
whatever, I am holding out for PS3, but it’s likely this will be the last money I ever spend on gw2, which is sad, because I wanted SOO MUCH for it to be good

BUG: Hearts & Minds Quest (Caithe Path) is completely impassible. The boss glitches out when killed, but the instance fails to update and you just sit there… forever.
Pretty simple. It’s hard to believe that a few weeks past launch, the main story quest, to complete the game, is impassible due to a glitch. REALLY frustrating…

Yes but since OPs personal reward was 50 then 51 52 he only got 2 fractals done in 51-100 bracket and 1 done in 21-50 so no 3 chest for those 3
It doesn’t work that way. You can finish the 51-100 daily achievement with a personal reward level of 3.

As the OP, (and the topic of much rage) it does feel relevant to introduce this point. In a 40 Farm yesterday, a Zerker group and I killed the same boss in 13-15 seconds, 10 times. I was able to load in and complete the entire dungeon twice in the same time it took to kill the boss in the instance described in the first post.
Since we have had gold nerfs, and since there is a lot of content to do, optimizing is an important thing. I mostly made this thread because I found it amusing how my perspective changed, the CAPSYELLING was really for ironic effect, I mean… who actually yells in silly long worded sentences that clearly dont have any punctuation and is done for comic effect.

Most fractal bosses can be soloed in a reasonable amount of time. If you can’t beat it with five people in a reasonable amount of time, check your own DPS instead of saying that it was good and blaming everyone else’s build. Fractals don’t scale up or down, so if single people can clear them, you have no excuse to not be able to clear them with a party of five regardless of the makeup of that party.
Its not so fun when others can be elitist too, is it?

BTW, experimenting with 3 different utils (which are usually supportive on a Guard) while keeping full zerk gear really isnt sub optmizing dps, I just wasnt 100% sure how much damage it was going to do..

Everyone who practices long enough reaches this point.
Eventually you start to notice all the stupid things some players do in group content, like spamming AA and nothing else. or kitting a boss out of an AoE because “ima tank!”.
Then you get the " I did nothin wrong QQ kitten" type pm’s when you boot em out in favour of a player (or many times an empty slot) more productive.
“elitists” in gw2 aren’t unfriendly quite often, some people just act as a catalyst for aggression and frustrations.
Haha yeah, that seems to be a pretty good summary of it. I wish there was a way to statistically show people that their build is suboptimal, like, staff skill 4 should just be disabled on Guard if you have a PS warrior in your group…

Quick Story
I’m relatively new to FOTM, for a long time I had not considered myself good enough to play FOTM, so I just avoided it and did Karma trains and such mob content. ( I tried early on but a bad pug group and a 4 hour run convinced me that FOTM was not for me)
About 2 months ago I got back into GW2 in prep for HOT and leveled from 12-47 FOTM, and learned to enjoy the tactics, reflects, speed clear, dodging and most importantly, Zerker. Generally I don’t mind if people run off builds, I run full zerk guard (because reasons) but Im happy to play with just about anyone. Until yesterday…
For my last frac of the day yesterday I hopped into a 40 (molten boss) for what the LFG advertised was a “Speed Clear” Awesome. If you are not in the know, a decent zerker group can take down this fractal in about 6 minutes total. We start off at the champ and it takes a LONG time to go down, like a LONG time. I was experimenting with DH traps though so I just figured my own dps was low (it wasnt)
Then we fight the fiery pair and again, it takes a long time. I’m used to Bruiser dropping in about 20 seconds, it took us 4 minutes. Finally i speak up in chat and simply say “our dps is a bit light guys”
The Staff Guard & the Ranger both respond “I’m healing”

And then the monster appeared. I’m normally good natured, but its just SO FREAKING STUPID TO RUN HEALING ON MOLTEN ALLIANCE, ESPECIALLY ON 40 WHERE THE INSTABILITY IS DODGES CAUSE YOU TO FUMBLE YOUR BOONS ANYWAY… AND THE ONLY REASON YOU HAVE TO HEAL IS BECAUSE THE KITTEN BOSS IS STILL ALIVE AND SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ALIVE IF YOU HAD ACTUALLY DONE DAMAGE….

Bug: Bonus Chest Causing instant Game Crash
Severity: Huge, but only under specific circumstances
Troubleshooting: Relog, Character select, PC reboot, nothing works.
Anyway. Green Bonus Chest in Magguma causes instant game crash when you click on it to open. 7 Attempts and 3 PC reboots later, can confirm the bug will not go away. Mapping, re logging, character select, nothing kills the bug. But the whole time the chest keeps sitting there flashing at me and telling me to open it…

Title really. Was doing Maguuma events in the first map, something I did unlocked a Green Bonus chest on the side of my screen. Clicking on said bonus Chest crashes the game hard. I have submitted a couple of automated bug reports, but am placing here for visibility.
Wouldnt be such a big deal except I cant get the kitten chest to stop flashing at me telling me to open it…

Hey Anet,
I do not always have a ton of time to run these world bosses, but they are really exciting opportunities. However 2/4 of my Teq runs and 1/3 of my Wurm runs have ended with me being kicked by a game crash. Unfortunately whenever I reconnect the mega server is full and I am unable to rejoin.
Can we get any sort of stability update progress? Is this just what I need to expect? For reference my computer is a custom built gaming machine and my internet connection is a solid 30mbps.

I actually dusted my Tag off in EB today, first time in a couple weeks. Gotta say, the attitude was really good at first. Only thing I noticed was eventually a couple of guild groups showed up, and when they did they decided to play alone instead of coming alongside and helping out my Tag.
Now i get it, some of you guilds are really tight knit and consider yourselves an elite community, BUT if we all work together we may be able to achieve greater things. So please, if the Tag is trying to pull back some points, especially if we have the torch, it would be cool to get support. (especially from some of those “elite guilds”)

Hey all, something is really fishy going on with AP right now, at least for me.
Before Clockwork Chaos started I hit the 3500 AP level and got my chest. Yay. I was at something silly like 3501
Assuming that I did not get any AP for anything else, I have earned close to 80 AP from Clockwork Chaos. (screen will show) But My points are only registering 3549.
Unless I am really missing something here, I am either not getting credit for these achievements, or they are giving way less AP than listed.
Anyone else see this?

It is a low percentage chance per rank up chest. We are going to be adding it to more places shortly, but that’s the only place for right now.

Hey,
not sure if this is a bug, or a really strange way to create a distraction at a keep. But anyway I was out killing the grub yesterday when something interesting happened. Some of the wall guards had been attacking the grub as well, and even it looked like someone on the cannon. Apparently that was enough for the grub to decide that it could just hop inside the castle and try to murder everyone there.
Now I know that this may not always happen, but it seems like it could be pretty exploitable if you could aggro the grub and have enemy guards start hitting it or some such way?

Lot’s of fun on EB tonight. NSP kept trying to omega golem rush Klovan Gully (not sure why, but they lost a lot of omegas) while we held off Darkhaven for hours at Stonemist. Eventually we were outnumbered 3:1 and finally lost the castle. We collected tons of bags from Darkhaven and the fights were great. Shout out to Side Effect, probably the best guild I’ve faced on Darkhaven thus far, they are a truly standout guild. You guys gave us some trouble until we heavily outmanned you and could just overpower you. Great work out there.
They also tried to Omega Golem rush SM after we took it that one time after the long battle but lost 3 (maybe 4) there.
Curious what the total number of Omegas lost was…
This seems to be the “new” strategy of TFG when they are running in EB. In the hour I was logged into EB yesterday (just kitten ing around on my level 5 necro alt) I watched 6 omegas burn down in flames.
I mean, yeah Omegas are cheaper now, but I wish i had enough money to keep throwing them at objectives, that would be cool =P

I’m sorry that any server smaller than you does not actually count for anything. But please, at least have the courtesy to not open your mouth and slander your opponent so early on in a match.
Heh, ya know things have been improving here in NSP, we just crushed our last match up by a margin of 100k points. We have some good players, but by all means we still have a lot to learn. But at least we have dignity. If you are the representation of your server than I am glad we do not often have to play people with such snobbish dispositions.

ALSO: I dont know if you played at reset, buy the two “real” servers had our hills and bay all night last night, getting off to a nice lead. Epic fail at hills in DH. Knew my golems were spotted but took a risk just leaving them until apparently the entire SE guild decided to show up. Oh well would’ve been fun, but unfortunately that one was on me. Can’t do much with 8 people so I thought we would have some fun but didn’t work out. Nice job.

We did a similar assault on SM last night with 2 omegas and 4 alphas, got inner doors to 5% before we got wiped. WP to keep to find out that the kitten players had left 1 alpha in the keep… whoops

I did want to say that it has been an interesting ride already. DH and SB came out strong yesterday, and it’s a nice change of pace to be outmanned… sort of. Looking forward to an interesting week and learning more about how to play the game.

So far has been lots of fun. Your numbers on your BL yesterday were very impressive. It was surprising to have 50 people on your BL and also have the outmanned buff.
Can’t say I was thrilled to be against DH again with their numbers, but it will bring us down in points and that is a good thing considering we lost lots of people since our last match up with them. Still can’t help wondering if they got more or if it is because of our losses that it seems that way.
Great job so far NSP and DH! Always fun to be up against you guys.
I did love how you guys took the DH keep. It gave us a second of breathing room, i was commanding the east side of EB and was completely caught off guard the first time the DH zerg of 50+ showed up. I learned my lesson, but it was a tough fight to be sure
