this just shows the terrible working ethics they have, a top priority bug gets no attention what so ever.

I mean seriously if is a single player game you can get mods to fix bugs, but the fact this is a mmo and we need developers to fix these things, they let us down. let me say this again, is nearly 4 month and my level 80 izerker still do less damage than my level 14 warrior hundred blades, just come on.

Did phantasmal zerker get fixed this patch?

to be honest I was ready to spend some money on gems to support the game, but anet’s working ethics really is discouraging, mesmers practically have no aoe in pve and they just kept nerfing them because of pvp. This makes no sense, the split should have done long ago, but nope.

It has been near 3 month now and the izerker is still broken, I put so much faith in April patch and obviously it didn’t deliver.

please fix bugs before ruin anymore of Mesmer. This game isn’t just about pvp but pve too, right now mesmers are at a disadvantage.

NOTE: ONLY FOR PVE, THESE CHANGE DOES NOT APPLY TO PVP.

Bug fixes on phantasm damage, traits, etc.

Buff on healing aspects of illusions (illusionary membrane).

Buff on phantasm damage (only slightly) to keep on par with other class aoes.

Make traits that enables warlock AOE damage.

When the beserker, swordman and warden is attacking, gain distortion with attack duranation to stop mob killing it before it attacks. (but mobs can still kill it while attacks on cooldown).

Make illusions deal 5~8% damage of players.

Buff on illusions health slightly.

Buffs on scepter (confusion focus weapon), illusions can generate illusions on scepter attacks.

Confusion stacks durnation as well as intensity (to a maximum of 50 stacks), but every attack of the mob reduce X stacks of confusion (damage is calculated before reduction in stacks).

Infinite swap on sword 3 as long as illusion is alive (but with internal cooldown).

Reduce teleport cooldown drastically (12seconds maybe?) to enhance PVE mesmer mobility in dungeons or PVE overworld.

mass invisibility reduced cooldown, become normal abilities while veil become elite ability. Veil now produce an illusion everytime you pass through it, durnation increase to 10 second.

Staff auto attack now grands poison,bleed and burn to the enermy.

a grandmaster trait that cause illusion to have a mindwrack shatter effect when killed (mutiple illusion dying under 10 seconds counts as mutimindwrack effect)

If Anet still plan on making GW2 into an esport game then a split has to happen or they will mess up the game for the majority of their playerbase since PvE and WvW is what most people are doing atm (granted, if spvp became better balanced I think more people would be interested in it again). All skills need not be different but the split would mean that if something is discovered to e.g. be exploitable in PvE then it wouldn’t affect spvp and vice versa.

lets see how many issues mesmer have at pve:

bugs, just lots of bugs, phantasm missing hits etc.
Utterly slow, no passive speedboost
no passive damage boost, illusion does no damage, bleeding trait bugged.
a walking timewarp in dungeons.

seriously fix these things for pve please -.-

That’s why I said they should look into the mobs AI before doing any pvp splits of the sort. PvE’s balance REALLY needs an AI that can counter all 8 professions equally well. Would love to see a dev’s reply on that, although I’m not sure if pve devs read the pvp forums.

And yes, Mesmers should get some utility with pve in mind, for a change. Mantra of Pain having an AoE effect? Or redesign Signets with pve’s environment in mind as much as pvp’s.

fixing it this way would be taking way too long to clear up this mess of balance, yes mesmer become op at new patch, but look what happend before this patch, mesmer was UTTERLY unplayble become how hard those silly bugs hit them, my mesmer despise full glass cannon exotics level 80 is doing 2k damage, 2K DAMAGE while warriors happly hitting mobs for 13X as much.

This should not happen again, it is blantly obvious the state of balance is the most horrific i’ve experienced, seriously even some indie mmo doesnt have one class doing 13X damage than others in PVE.

OP brings up perhaps the important part of the whole MMO problem. Balance is hard enough with any PVP situation, but factoring in the PVE side of things makes it near impossible. I have heard Mesmers are a pain to level up, and some have said they are somewhat lacking in PVE, yet in PVP they are the king class without compare. How do you balance without impacting the other. No answer will work, especially because we are talking about damage.

PvP still needs to be accessible. A casual PvEr needs to be able to decide one day they’re feeling unusually confident and want to try PvP. The class they are familiar with and used to needs to be familiar to them when they enter PvP. It is bad enough that PvP already changes the way armour stats work and even completely removes some stat combos from the game. If 80% of their skills also function differently, you create a divide so big no one will ever dare to cross it. This is why WvW needs to use PvE skills, even if they are insanely overpowered versus players (eg confusion), and why PvE/PvP splits should be avoided at all costs.

I would say no more than 10% of skills being split is a good target to aim for. It sucks when a nerf intended entirely for PvP hits builds you used in other formats, but it’s something we all have to suck up or we may as well develop two completely different and standalone games.

simple damage tweak will do, if they nerf mesmer again it is no point for me to play that class anylonger, time to roll a warrior and join dungeon faceroll team.
If the issue wasnt this huge i would never insist on it, but you have a class that is doing 4X more damage to mobs with a press of a button on 6 second cd while i have to blow my entire set of cooldown, something is deeply wrong.

Well, their utility is not very good for PvE, honestly, but Mesmers are not “weak” there at all. In fact, I feel like they are fine.

The problem with PvE is the monster’s AI that makes builds like Guardian’s or Warrior’s GS, among others, insanely overpowered. The foes do not dodge, they do not leave, nothing. They might counter a Mesmer by attacking clones, but they’ll never counter a Warrior by dodging or a Guardian by kiting them or getting out of their symbols.

Although pvp/ pve splits are important for some situations, I think they should be prevented as much as possible, unless there’s no other way. For example, confusion is already split between pvp and pve.

Monster’s AI and lack of party-driven content is what greatly restricts professions and builds in general PvE, not nerfs.

i REALLY dont see any sane person would disagree to split pvp/pve, it is just totally obvious some skills are way too good in pve and useless in pvp (100b), it needs to have both aspects balanced, that is a good balance skill.

Currently it is like choosing to level a pvp/pve class, have a pvp good class and crap pve experience or amazing pve experience and get owned in pvp all the time. This isnt the first time such atrocity happend, it plagued any mmo i’ve played, even world of warcraft.

we need to have the ability to choose whether want to pvp or not, if i am choosing mesmer im expecting at least on par pve wise with other class, not being left out in dungeons or become a walking timewarp, because this is what is happening RIGHT now.

words cannot simply describe the importance of this pvp/pve split, do it for the great good of community and class balance, or you can have generic mmo class discrimination with people QQing pvp balance all day.

In this game people have a choice for pve and pvp, it is not fair because one glass is good pvp, it must have a bad pve experience.

For those who argues that warriors are bad pvpers, it is irrelivent, im solely talking about pve here where mobs stand in 100b for the entire time. Keep both aspects separate and make that choice clear for players to select.

no body likes to be forced on onething.

i really dont give a kitten about pvp, but when you doing tweaks for pvp you will always affect mesmers pve ability.

they already have poor aoe damage and utility, their pve is still abit behind other classes, a pvp/pve split is desparetly needed at the moment.

the nightmarish 11/15 patch already put me off for 1 month worth of playing because the bug introduced to mesmer on that patch. berserker still bugged, signet of illusions still bugged, traits still bugged.

some light has shined on mesmers pve aspect with new patch and now you want to take it away immidately while warriors still doing 4X more damage to mobs in pve, it is getting utterly ridiculous.

Nerf mesmer in pvp to oblivion all you want, fix my pve problems !

Mesmer least amount of changes next patch.

the fact that writer decided to give queen jennah a mesmer profession (rather than elementlist or any other class) is quite interesting, if she is an elementalist then it would be fine for her to be all defensive and quite pure in personality, but she is a mesmer whos class purpose is deception, manipulation and domination, i think we might discover more from her, she could be more than the ordinary princess.

When Jennah was hit with the Golem’s transportion beam… I don’t think that mesmer powers would have kept her safe from that.

It seems that, given how the Seperatists were able to capture a norn, a charr, and Queen Jennah with immense ease that the teleporting made them groggy (also remember: they drugged Sigfast, it’s likely they drugged Jennah and Mia too). Remember that Jennah was able to survive simply because she was going full defense.

Maybe, despite being a powerful mesmer, she’s not proficient in offensive mesmeric abilities, but just telepathy, non-offensive illusions, defensive shieldings, and slowing things down. That’s all we see her do after all.

@Sephelutis: Maybe she’s more concerned about being a benevolent ruler than a successful one.

i think her character isnt the typical “weak yet rightous princess waiting to be saved by a knight in shining armor” she might act like one, but her character presentation shows she might be far more than that, infact she taken the event quite lightly after might be a hint to show that she have everything under her control, the whole event might just to politically control her opponent at same time send logan away for the greater good.

As for the whole “drugged” thing, she is a queen with outstanding interllect, the moment she step into the mansion she should already know the risks and consequences, but she wasnt afraid or suprised at all.

Surely from lore we know that if you are a mesmer, at very least you will be incredibly good at manipulation of minds and deception.

Isn’t Grenth associated with taking to the world in full view, no illusions?

even then, jennah’s action doesnt seems to be fitting with what she really is, i mean all those seperationist will properbly die to her chaos field + some phantasms and shattering, not to mention being a champion mesmer she can properbly outright control their minds.

Being a champion state herself, a powerful mesmer, and high interlect, she seems holding back and acting as if she is powerless.

Being a mesmer means she can manipulate minds, create illusions, teleportations, confusing oppoent, mass control, invisibility etc, so why can she become abuducted by some mere separationist who properbly doesnt even have any class skills, she might as well just annihilate any opposing political force by mind controling the entire nobles, she seems doesnt like to display her powers often.

i was absolutely excited about yestorday’s patch since apparently it fixed alot of stuck events and skill points, and then i was utterly disapointed.

the mount malstorm map i only need 1 skill challenge to complete (it is around crucible of eternity entry area) and i used 3s to travel to there across the world just to complete it, but the npc doesnt even spawn yet the event still exist.

it does seems the patch did absolutly nothing at all, with this diminishing return system im really losing hope on this game.

anyone in here played diablo 3? yeah…. major game companys, might just stick to indie…

Normally any armor or weapons would let me replace rune inside with another gem or rune, but with berserker level 78 set it couldt let me remove them, i was planning to put in ruby orb in them

im sorry if i didnt explain it very well, but GS clones apply bleeds pretty fast too, 3 quick hits everytime it attacks (with beserker 3hits as well), sword and pistol is too single target forcused and in a big event the max amount of mob tag you can do is 4 (blurred frenzy).

sword/forcus offer great utility but the pulling effect from curtain isnt consistant and deals too little damage, a major draw back from swords is that you need to stand close the whole time, event such as champion giants is nearly impossible since you will be one shotted.

pistol duelist deal much less damage (although great at apply bleedstacks) than warlock, the maximum i did with duelist was 1.5k at level 55 yet i can do 3k+ with warlock, the bleedstacks apply only to single target while beserker can apply it to an entire group.

Further more sword/pistol requires a double cooldown reduction build (if you want the skills to be up all the time, otherwise you are stuck with horrible 10 second cooldown on blurred frenzy or 15 second duelist – the majority of your damage) which takes away 2 slot in precisionline, with GS and staff you can take phantasmal rage and deceptive evasion which both are very very helpful.

Blurred frenzy seems to do huge burst but that is it, only 1 skill for burst (duelist burst seems lacking the further you levels), Duelist + frenzy cannot even drop mob to 1/4 of their hp, with GS the damage isnt far off anyway when you use mirrorblade + beserker from range, add some autos and mob wont even get to you.

another thing that involves sword is it does next to 0 condition damage (except bleed) this makes condition traitline near useless to sword builds (but condition line offers a 20% cooldown reduction for all sorts of illusions which is a must take) GS/staff on the otherhand utilies this traitline much better since GS clones apply bleeds and staff gives all sorts of condtion to enermy.

this combo is the best in my opinion, i havent felt anything else can beat this combo in PVE

amazing aoe (chaosfield + knockback + mirror blade + beserker + staff auto that bounces and an additional mind stab) which if used correctly you can instag every mob in DEs

amazing single target damage (4k damage with warlock on DE bosses)

amazing escapes and defence(chaosfield + chaos armor, a teleport back skill, knock back, beserker cripple)

great utility (staff apply all forms of debuff and buff to yourself while GS apply as much as 9 stacks of vulnerbility to foe and power to yourself)

great range with good damage on auto attack, coupled with shaper image you can apply 15 stacks of bleeding very quickly with GS clones and beserker.

this weapon combo is safe (1200 range with all forms of defence), high damage and great aoe capacity to tag mobs, i dont see how sceptor, sword and such can beat this.

with my set up all my phantasms can be generated 12 second each time, not to mention everytime i dodge roll a illusion come on, my greatsword 2rd skill is on 4 second timer (that means another clone is up every 4 second) so in pve should be no problem

when i solo champion i felt like an entire party is supporting me

i got my melee damager (beserker)
my personal range nuker (warlock)
tanks (clones) with some dps
debuffers (range clone with sharper image)
and finally myself :P

But there is a difference between true difficulty and tedious difficulty.

in most action games (especially those wellmade ones like devil may cry 3) mobs or bosses do not oneshot you but rather have difficult moves that requires timing, strategy or counters to stop them corner you and destroy you, that is true difficulty.

so far for what i’ve seen is mob packs with total of million hp and 1 shotting abilities, yes you can dodge but only twice, when there are 3 of them spamming aoe in a tight tunnel (which AC is full of) dodge become absymal, Why cant we have those archers with better AI and less hp, using a strategy against players? oh i know, too difficult to create that level of enjoyable difficulty.

anyone played diablo 3 inferno difficulty? yes thats exactly what the dungeons currently are, and as expected people will defend this kind of difficulty.

To give glass cannons some more survivbility why not...

give some endurance recharge/regenerate buffs on those power/presicion traitlines, this would make them dodge slightly more than those pure tank builds and encourage more skillful play with glass cannons, they will still get oneshot if not careful but they can deal with mob packs in dungeons much more effectivly if timing dodge correctly.

hardcore or elitism, there is a difference, what we should understand is that elitism is the main source that plague commmunity not casual/hardcore battle, true hardcore gives pages of constructive feedback with clear understanding of game mechanism, elitism give “l2p”

the problem is the mobs have too much dmg , I find the trash harder then the bosses tbh.

Giving the Bosses and trash that much dmg output and health is not how to make it “HARD”
Give us challenges yes give us bosses that require skill but don’t give us bosses that require you to run back and forth from way points until its dead.
It’s not fun like this.

Being a PVE player i don’t see myself playing this game for very much longer as i just don’t find farming and grinding fun..i can do it for a little while but its not fun and i will end up thinking “what’s the point”

I feel its a real shame because i enjoyed the levelling process , the events are great the dragons are awesome and the community is one of the best i’ve come across in an mmo.

I really hope you consider making the dungeons as fun as the other content , at the end of the day you play games to have fun and unless you find farming grinding, and dying allot of fun (which im sure there is some people that do) the dungeons are just not “fun” for people like me that want to play a game to enjoy it.

absolutly agree, we can always zergfest a 1 billion hp/attack boss but thats not skill, thats a failure of mechanism. Anyone see any good action game would know what true difficulty is like, that requires constant awareness of boss mechanism and timing

did AC another day and was shocked with the unbalance in difficulty, with a high level leading us we were facerolling bosses with literually 0 problem but wiped several times on normal mobs, i see the flaw isnt in the difficulty but how it is ditributed, small mobs are able to aoe way too effectivly in small packs while bosses cannot do much when forcus targeted.

the king boss at the end was laughble at best, as mesmer i was able to pull off 3 duelist and just autos the entire fight, oh dear he pulled me close, big deal. the entire fight was 15 minute worth of auto attacking (literually), while we nearly pulled our hairs out on those packs of archers.

it is not a l2p issue, it is how difficulty is distributed through out dungeons, if mob packs are harder than bosses (especially final boss of the dungeon) then clearly we have some balancing issue

although they deal no damage, can devs make them attack abit faster? i am a gs sword user and when i spawn clones they fire once and just stand there, if we can make them attack faster (more attack means more crits likely to appear) this would work with shapper image incredibly well and give clones some dps then.
