Anet: We want to get away from the “stack-N-whack” mentality. We’re even gonna punish stacking with agony at the highest level of fractals. BTW, here’s your healing elite spec – half of their abilities are centered on them with no targeting and a relatively small radius for how much we want you to spread out. Your fast-pop condi clear? Also centered on you and even smaller radius. Enjoy!

How to nerf ranger/druid properly?

But you realize since druid is becoming meta, it’s going to be a prime target for the next round of nerf batting right? I’d rather try to find something marginal we can nerf than wait for Anet to come up with one.

Well, you weren’t wrong…but it sure doesn’t feel good that you were right.

Mystic Coins again

I feel I should point out here that there are uses for Mystic coins other than legendaries and ‘Skins’. One which is actually useful.

Agony Infusions.

As somebody who is trying to up their daily fractal level I am trying to give one of my characters a full set of Agony Infusions, since I want to perfect my stats I’m going for the Mystic Forge Infusions (Resilient and Malign Infusions) rather than the ones bought with Laurels or fractal relics or WvW tokens.
[snip]
If I play my way I’m being limited in my ability to play end-game content (fractals).. or I’m being FORCED to buy them off the tp? This is why they need to be changed, because neither of those are good options.

First off, you’re limiting yourself, because you will need 7 versatile simple infusions in all your gear, not +5AR/5stat. If you have Resilient/Malign in all your gear, you will be down by 28 AR (6 armor slots, 2 slots per weapon set, 6 for back/rings/accessories) and the only way to get to 150AR would be to take from the agony slots in your backpiece and rings. And +16s are WAY more expensive than +11s.

Second, not having +90 of a stat is hardly limiting your ability to play end-game content. Food buff + fractal potions + a combat booster or two if you feel like you need it for the higher levels.

All that said, I’d be happy to see the ability to spend relics/pristine relics on turning 7 simple infusions into +7AR/7stat…

Forced to use 64-bit client and it crashes

https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/64-BIT-CLIENT-FAQ

My computer satisfies the requirements for automatic switching to the 64-bit client, but I want to remain on the 32-bit client.

If you want to remain on the 32-bit client, you may add -32 to the command line used to launch the game client. Please refer to the wiki for instructions on how to modify your command line.

Not sure how I missed that. Thanks!

Forced to use 64-bit client and it crashes

“The 64-bit client is no longer in beta. The 32-bit client will now automatically switch to the 64-bit client if the conditions appear favorable.”

Well, guess what? The 64-bit client is NOT favorable. It continues to crash my display driver (GTX 660) and I was having no problems with the 32-bit client, thankyouverymuch.

Now I can’t go more than 20-60 minutes without a crash and if I’m lucky, it’ll recover and I’ll only have lost about 5 seconds of time, which isn’t fatal AT ALL in a 75 Mai Trin. And if I’m NOT lucky, then it hard locks the ENTIRE PC and I have to hard reset.

Patch Notes 5-17

First they came for Moment of Clarity, and I said nothing, because I thought “it could be worse.” Then they came for Seed of Life and Lunar Impact and suddenly I have filled my Vial of Salt.

Seriously though, Seed of Life was already a 2-3 second wait for the animation to finish before the condi clear actually popped, so it was never a “quick fix” condi clear anyways. If we HAVE to get it cut by 50%, can we at least get the seed bloom time reduced by 50% as well?

Also do we know if the reduction to Lunar Impact daze duration affects how much break bar it reduces? Because all my complaints are PvE based, since that’s all I really do, and this nerf affects it more than any other nerf so far.

Druids have been great for raw healing and crowd control, and decent at a few other things but never really overpowered in any one direction. I get that we have a support role – I love it, that’s why I main Druid. This nerf reduces our ability to be USEFUL and actually welcomed into PvE group content. (A fractal with 3 reapers doesn’t really raise any eyebrows but 2 druids and suddenly this fractal’s gonna take a lot longer!) This takes our condi clear abilities from “actually useful” to “pretty lackluster” and our (personal) might stack generation from “bursty” to “flaccid”.

All in the name of pvp, indeed.

Bristleback F2 skill not hitting?

in Ranger

Posted by: SgtWantCuddles.5284

SgtWantCuddles.5284

Yes, it works indeed just like a shot-gun.
The closer you are, the more projectiles will hit.

If the target is far away – you’ll hate your life for ever creating a Ranger class.

This has been brought up a lot of times. Don’t expect any improvements or fixes. Just manually pay attention to your pets. We’ve always been the class to fight our own mechanics instead of our enemies.

I couldn’t find anything in the first 5 pages of forums and with the search function finding nothing for Bristleback…wasn’t about to go through 425 more pages manually.

Can’t really do anything manually to control Bristleback as telling it to attack just leaves it at range and can’t get it closer without running in and pet swapping. Oh well. Thanks anyways.

Bristleback F2 skill not hitting?

in Ranger

Posted by: SgtWantCuddles.5284

SgtWantCuddles.5284

I will be fighting an enemy, the Bristleback will be happily auto-plinking away at the enemy from max range, I’ll hit F2 and the Bristleback will fire off a load of spikes that doesn’t connect. I’ve tested this against stationary world bosses like Golem. I’m thinking this would be an easy fix, maybe make the Bristleback run into range when F2 skill is selected while an enemy is targeted? I could’ve sworn other pets like the Ice Drake do that. But no, if I pet swap and hit F2 while at LB range but not pet range, Bristleback fires off spikes uselessly instead of taking a few steps forward and firing.

Not sure if related – I’ve also noticed that the spikes seem to have a bit of a spread? When closer, the Bristleback seems to connect with more spikes. If that’s the case – WHY is the auto-attack distance so far away?

Quick Draw and Celestial Avatar

in Ranger

Posted by: SgtWantCuddles.5284

SgtWantCuddles.5284

I read in the wiki that the Quick Draw trait triggers after exiting Celestial Avatar form aslong as you don’t abort any of the CA skills during casting. But I can’t get it to work. I tested it in PvE and in the PvP training area golems, but it won’t work. To test it I Attack ones with the LB to initiate combat, activate CA form, cast the 2 skill without aborting it, then exiting CA form and use the Rapid Fire skill of the Bow. However the skill doesn’t loose any of it’s cooldown. It’s still 10 seconds.
Can somebody tell me what I am doing wrong?

Avatar counts as a weapon swap, just like switching Ele Attunements counts as weapon swap. What you are doing is initiating combat, activating CA – Quick Draw immediately procs when you activate CA. You cast 2 skill in CA, Quick Draw reduces that skill cooldown by 66%. (As noted already, reduction is so small for that skill as to be pointless.) You then exit CA – BUT – Quick Draw has an internal cooldown of 9 seconds. That internal cooldown has not finished yet, so there is no reduction on rapid fire. If you let CA run out naturally, or exit after 9 seconds, Quick Draw should proc just fine and you can use it on Rapid Fire.

Alternatively, you can start the fight with your non-bow weapon, then swap to your bow and use Quick Draw then. It’s a very versatile trait, useful to burst a bit more healing or use it on Rapid Fire with Strength of the Pack + Bristleback F2 skill to get you and your pet to 25 might stacks fast. It’s also great for double Lunar Impacts – combined with the extra daze duration trait, CA 5 skill, and Glyph of Equality, you can take out break bars with ease or turn large groups of trash mobs into pinatas.

Inventory bags keep closing

Well it definitely looks like it’s the Shared Storage. That said, the work-around this person found worked for me:

“arrayano.8401:
Hey guys, I think I found a work-around for this bug (it works for me at least).
- Open your inventory and close the shared inventory tab, then close your inventory and open it again (all your tabs should show closed now).
- Open all your inventory tabs starting from the bottom one by clicking on the tab and not the bag icon, once they are all open close your inventory and done.
I have disconnected and change characters and it seems to be working for me, but as soon as I touch the shared inventory tab it gets all messed up again and have to repeat this to fix. Hopefully ArenaNet will soon fix this but meanwhile here is a work-around for you all.”

Follow those steps EXACTLY as they were given. (opening the tabs from the BOTTOM and going up, finishing with the shared storage slot) And it works for me now. If I close the shared storage tab it starts having problems again.

This also worked for me and lasted through exiting out of GW2 and logging back in. I can use items in the shared storage without issues, but if I accidentally minimize the shared storage tab, the issues start again. Thanks for the help!

I am also having this problem. My first 3 bags are okay (Starter backpack, Uncanny Jar, Bandit Coin Purse) but the next 5 (Halloween Pails) will automatically close when I open my inventory, no matter what I do, even if there are items in them and I’ve set them to stay open.

Out of curiosity, is it happening to the Halloween Pails for you guys too? Or other bags as well?

Edit: I also bought the 5 shared slots the day they were put on the BLTC, but this bag autoclosing issue just started today.

Certain adventures need reworks.

Shooting Gallery. Scrap Rifle Field test. Haywire Punch-o-Matic. Fallen masks.

What do these adventures have in common?
They are all too unproportionally difficult and/or time consuming to get a gold medal on.
Compared to most other adventures, these adventures I mentioned before are either too reliant on RNG, simply too strict in difficulty or are just no fun to play at all. I will go through each mentioned adventure, with suggestions on how to improve them

I like these suggestions and I am in complete agreement. It makes sense for loot to be RNG based, but adventures? Adventures that are necessary for collections and mastery points?

As of now, fewer than 313 people have gold on Fallen Masks in the Lifetime category. And if what you said is still accurate, nobody has Gold on Haywire? These are giant red flags that these adventures are not fun, or not skill based, or both.

I would hope that we can all agree that a good adventure should be challenging (to get Gold,) but fun. It should reward practice and improvement and I believe it should depend less on RNG and more on skill.

Ranger
In the future, we’ll continue to explore ways to improve on the ranger’s ties to both their pets and nature.

I can only hold to hope that this means they actually consider finally offering the option of severing the ranger’s ties to their pets, and instead offering a more nature-oriented playstyle.

Other than pet AI actually being fixed, offering a wide range of skins for the various species, as well as making a larger selection of species able to be tamed, that is really the only change to the ranger that I desire as I consider that option as being an immense improvement to the current ranger > pet/nature relationship.

When they first announced Druid as Ranger elite spec, I was half-hoping they’d change the pet/ranger relationship so that you could (if desired) forego the pet, but take on some aspect of that pet – their power, their toughness, their vitality. As a trait, as an elite skill that offers something else as well, etc. Basically a way to “banish” the pet temporarily while gaining something in return.

I’m very happy with the current aspects of our Avatar State and find that Druid is a great support character, but there does still seem to be a little something lacking in the pet department.
Oh, and PLEASE make it possible to hide the pet permanently until called upon. If it’s put in passive state and then hidden, it’s safe to say we don’t want it coming out if we catch a stray projectile.

Crashing in Dragons Stand

I’m getting the exact same issue. Crash ? Error Report ? Desktop. Maybe 30 seconds before killing MordreMouth in Dragon’s Stand. Has happened twice now, both before and after 32-bit client update. (Though update did almost completely eliminate crashing for me elsewhere.) When I restart the game and log in, I can’t rejoin my squad/party, and get the following error:
“Network Error.
Please check your Internet connection and try again.
(Code=178:9:13:2932:101)”
I get that Anet doesn’t want people to reap what they do not sow, but surely it wouldn’t be too difficult to have some kind of flag on someone who crashes to let them back into the Dragon Stand map that they just spent literally an hour and a half completing? And then they get no loot. It’s very frustrating and it makes me not want to do any of the larger event chains.

Before people comment on it, I can’t use the 64-bit client because it hardlocks my entire PC, much worse than a CTD, and I’ve already reduced visuals.

[sugg] dailies

There are some aspects of the current daily system I do like – the fact that some parts seem to remain constant like Recycler and Gatherer.

But this suggestion seems to have a lot of merit. I’d take it a step further and suggest that it could be level based – quests assigned are based on level and that ensures that new players won’t be tasked with going into a 45 – 55 area when they are 14. And generally a level 80 will have more map completed, so they’ll have access to more areas. I’d also suggest that the rewards for this “new daily” be completely cosmetic or give things that don’t directly impact gameplay. One of the main reasons I do dailies so religiously is because of the impact it has on my play (Laurels and chance for Black Lion Salvage Kits, for example.) It’d be nice not to feel like I have to do these things, but would rather want to do them.

I’d be interested in seeing this happen!

edited apparently 45 – 55 was replaced with kitten? Weird.
