Last day of sales. Your hopes?

Disappointing. Is this really the last day of sales? If so, this entire thing was just… sad. I mean, the event was pretty lackluster and the sales barely had anything worth going for. I expected to spend a lot of money on the sales, but it looks like I’m being told to save my money.

Whatever, if they don’t want my money then okay. Whoever was in charge of these sales really needs to actually play this game to figure out what players actually want because it feels like they’re incredibly out of touch with the player base to a scary extent.

Claiming keep & buffs - can we improve it?

They should make it so, if your guild has higher buffs, you can overwrite another guild’s Claim. Problem solved.

I like this. Make it so!

They restarted for a needless patch that doesn’t really improve the experience of most people. Read the patch notes, they’re pretty minor stuff. They really could have time it much better.

That said, it isn’t a big enough deal that they’d have to compensate us or whatever. It’s just really annoying.

What, seriously? That’s it? They interrupted an entire 45 minute invasion… just for that? Wha…?

Oh yeah, I remember that login screen. Wasn’t there a way to get that back for a while?

It’s possible to dodge roll the lasers as long as you get lucky with your timing and somehow get through as none of the rather quick pulses go off. It’s not reliable at all, and I wouldn’t recommend doing it.

I’m going to continue using the boxes, as it only takes two quick jumps to get up, with more than enough time for 4-5 tries unless you cut it close.

AB dungeon "slightly melee unfriendly"?

I completed with groups up different comps. First completion was with 2 guards, 2 engis, and a war. 3 melee, 1 bomb engi, and a grenade engi, for a total of 4 melee range. Second completion was with 3 guards, 1 engi, and 1 war. 4 melee range.

So no. I don’t think this dungeon is particularly melee unfriendly. The only time I ranged was against the golems when there were lasers between us, and Mai while she had her shield up, because we were grouping up to try to get Mai into aoe.

why is the new dungeon so hard at the end

It was definitely a challenging dungeon, but by no means TOO hard. My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge, and successfully completed it after 3 tries.

First group was pretty bad. 4/5 were new except for a really bad ranger who got really annoying during the fight against Frizz. He decided to attempt to explain Frizz halfway through the fight, and left after one failed attempt. We attempted it a couple more times and got pretty close to completing it, but 4 people ended up not being enough and we eventually disbanded.

Second group was good. The three others (aside from my friend and I) were not experienced with Frizz, so we explained it before we went in, and completed it on the 2nd attempt. Then the dungeon bugged out right before the end, and everyone forgot to copy everyone else’s name when we decided to leave dungeon and retry, so we ended up only getting 3/5 of original party since the other two had difficult names.

3rd attempt had two new players, so we explained Frizz and we completed it in one attempt. We got to the final boss, and killed the cannon guy before realizing that he respawned. So we attacked Mia, and then wiped to 75% cannon. 2nd attempt at final boss we wiped at 25% cannon. 3rd went smoothly and we completed it easily.

My tip for cannons is that if anyone goes down, just leave em for dead. Rez em after the cannon barrage stops. As long as you have 2/5 alive at the end, you should be able to rez everyone back up.

Trash mobs hit fairly hard, but I wouldn’t say they were exactly hard. Frizz is challenging, but not hard if everyone knows what they are doing. Mia and co are challenging, but not too hard if everyone knows what they are doing. All in all, I would say that the dungeon is pretty well put together, and I would like to see more of it in the future.

For reference, I’m a full time uni student going into my final year. I’ve only gone up to 22 fractal, and have barely played at all for the last month due to finals (phys 3, diff eq, and biochem ftl >_<). I’m by no means someone with insane reflexes, nor someone who plays a lot. My friend plays on his laptop with crappy framerates, plays from out of country with bad internet, and was half falling asleep during final fight.

I really don’t like the idea of putting pve story content into wvw. When I went for it, JQ was being annoying and camping the top of arena and dark room. They had a huge zerg (30+) just sitting there, killing anyone that tried to go through. It took until SoR organized a bigger zerg (40-50) to wipe JQ’s zerg for anyone not JQ to get through (props to SoR btw, only time I’ll ever cheer for you guys as BG!). And then things were fine for a while until SoR decided that they didn’t want anyone up top either and started wiping everyone from jp.

I left after that, because BG generally doesn’t care about jp unless our commander really wants siege. Which is sad whenever I want to run it, and find it camped by JQ.

It was the most annoying jp run I’ve ever done in a long while. Dark room was near impossible because JQ kept randomly shooting attacks and dropping marks, traps, and wells all over the place. You couldn’t do a lot of the jumps without swiftness while in combat, which isn’t always available depending on your class/setup. Not to mention the torch itself dealt damage if you tried to light a place up, meaning even if you didn’t want to fight/others didn’t want to fight, you were being put into combat regardless.

To be fair, I don’t think most of the players were actually trying to kill others. It was really only a couple. But if their target fought back, the rest of the zerg would kill em, making it an impossible to win situation.

So yeah, JQ camping jp as usual, dark room being more of a pain than usual, and top of the arena camped by massive zergs usually only seen in open field wvw. Not my idea of good story content.

Love the dungeon, but One Shot Sucks

Meh, my full zerker war buddy didn’t get one shot by it. Went to like 1% health, but not one shot. My bunker guardian was pretty much in similar situation., something like 10% health. And that’s IF either of us got hit, since our entire group managed to avoid that most of the time.

3 attempts at the final boss with mostly pug group completely new to the dungeon. First attempt wipe at first cannon. 2nd attempt wipe at third cannon. 3rd attempt completely smooth. No one died to shadowstep. I think the problem here is less builds or abilities or whatever, but player skill.

Same here… 2+ hours spent and I get kicked just as the ancient karka is getting exploded down the ramp. I log back in to see a bunch of people comparing loot. I was, and still am, rather pissed about it.

How many world bosses do we have now? Could be good to have more?

Is that giant swamp wurm still in the Sylavari starting zone? I remember it from BWE3 but don’t really know if that would qualify as a world boss either since I don’t remember the entire quest chain – assuming there even is one and it’s not just a popup spawn.

Yeah, the Great Jungle Wurm is still there. There’s a event chain leading up to it consisting of killing blighted beasts and whatnot before it spawns. It probably counts as a world boss, even if it’s incredibly easy.

Fire Elemental at Thaumanova Reactor

IMO, dungeons are easy compared to this guy. I’ve done a couple of dungeons, and maybe it’s due to the overall more organized nature of dungeon runs, but I die less in a dozen or so dungeons than one attempt at the fire elemental.

You need a bunch of people killing the adds if you want to down them in a timely manner. Trying to kill an add by yourself is not only time consuming, but extremely dangerous since having to kite out of their attacks only aggros other adds. It almost feels like killing risen in Orr, except you also have to worry about a huge mob trying to kill you with one-hit KO attacks.

The thing is, it’s a zerg in a newbie zone. We’re not going to get people to kill the adds with you. I can’t even get people to kill mobs closer to the east tower so the Svanir morale goes down faster in the Wayfarer Hills far north DE (seriously, that one takes like 15 minutes because the zerg kills everything way far away). How do I expect to get people not to try to dps the huge target in the middle of the room here?

I’d be more accepting of this sort of boss if it were in a higher level zone where the most of the bad players have washed out in the difficulty jump around level 25, and most everyone else has learned how to play well. But in a newbie zone, I really think he’s overtuned.
