Hey, I’m testing a build for pvp ele, but I’m finding that the class is very squashy to condi damage. Is there any way that I could fix this?
I came back to wvw yesterday after about a 2 month break from the game, and found pretty much no one on any of the maps, especially ebg. Did everyone just leave?
I play a warrior, and I have been a pvper since day one, leveling mostly through tomes, so I know nothing about crafting, and only have a few ascended rings from wvw. I really want to get into pve and raiding, but I have no idea how to do so. I have done raiding on heroic in wow, and raided in wildstar, so I am not bad a pve content in games, I just don;t know where to start in gw2. I have a full set of exotic gear, is that enough for raids? Also I am thinking about just leveling an ele no tomes, and use that for pve, so I can learn from doing. Is that a good idea. Also any advice on getting into raid groups and stuff would be great!
LFR destroyed wow, we don“t need it in gw2! The challenge gives players something to shoot for. Without it the game could have all the content in terms of dungeons and raids cleared in 2 hours of play. That is not what we need.
Look at your 3/4/5. This is one of the hardest things to achieve.
Anet is not going to dedicate a lot of resource to balance PvP. They spend more resource on creating new PvE content which is obviously the safe choice to keep the game healthy.
With close to infinite possible combinations of traits, amulets and runes, there is no guarantee they can find balance even if they invest in a lot in those. That is why they eliminated many tanky amulets after the first PvP season. They nerfed a lot of skills/traits without considering its synergy with other stuff. They just want to reduce the balance problem to be as simple as possible.
So fundamentally, I can tell you that you can only choose one out of these two: balance and diversity. I am sorry that it is not an ideal world where you can achieve perfection. Other games that are more dedicated to PvP might be slightly better in this regard but it is very hard to achieve the perfection that many of the gamers desire.
Perfect balance is not what I meant, but they really made metatrapper wayyyy too OP, and that could have been easily avoided. So them just using common sense would be great.
1. make there be multiple exposures before ranking is determined. This may sound at first sound confusing, but I will try to make it clear. So I am a competitive squash player, and when I started, I needed 3 ranked tournaments to get ranked. This is a good idea, bc if you doof it up in the first tournament your not gonna be completely screwed and confined to playing in bronze tournaments. There should be 5-10 games played before you get your mmr, so you don’t just get insta-kittened if you screw up the first time.
2. Make an entry bar for ranked. This is much more straight forward, but have players need to have like 5 unranked games in a row in the top two on the chart before they are allowed to play ranked. I know that when I did my grind to 20, I was no better than I was on 5, and sequentially I got my kitten handed to me in ranked.
3. Make the PvP amulet and rune system the same as in pve. I still think all the amulets unlocked is a good idea, but you should be able to put multiple different stats on your armor and such, instead of just zerker, or just marauder. Same for runes. IMO this would boost build variety a TON
4. Make all the talents viable, and this means no mandatory elite spec too! Its simple. Make more talents viable, and don’t force players into elite specs. On warrior, arms in pvp is useless. There are fun immobilize builds to plink around with in unranked, but no more can be used from that line. I would love to see more viability in the different traits and trait lines.
5. BALANCE. Anet, use your brains when ur making class changes… PLEASE
6. Add a 3v3 and 1v1 and 2v2 mode, no point capture kitten. This would be so great. The point capture just incentives builds that can sit on point for ages and not need to move, therefore tanking viability of mobility in team comps. Just bunker bunker bunker. A plain 1v1 2v2 and 3v3 mode like in wow would be sick
7. Give us larger scale battles with new modes, like capture the flag. 10v10 capture the flag cluster kitten. How fun does that sound
8. Improve spectator mode. Add pause, play, rewind, and save modes. Allow players to gamble on their games, so it is a fun source of gold income, instead of just getting shards of glory and selling them on the tp. Gambling is fun, people blow their life savings on it all the time!!
9. Add local tournaments, guild tournaments and more accessible GVG. Players could have casual teams, and compete for vanity items. Guild tournaments could be great for testing stuff or making a roster. The game’s kitten name is guild wars, I WANT GUILD WARS!
Thanks for reading, I would love to hear your ideas, and or improvements/changes for this list! Also sorry for any bad grammer :-)
pls use English, ur grammar is dog kitten
I made a strawpoll. Please vote. Maybe the devs will see it and do something with it…
Here is the link: http://www.strawpoll.me/11694668
oh wow !. i didnt know this was historical (never to return in a million years) … I thought I could finish it anytime. An extension would be great.
Why would it be removed? Will the people that have it started be allowed to finish? I don’t understand you anet
The reason is to make it slightly exclusive, and therefore make more incentive to get it. For example if it took 1 hour to get a legendary then everyone would be running around with them, and that kinda sorta defeats the purpose of legendaries. I personally do not think it would be a good idea to extend the time period
Right now I am poor as hell (26 gold atm), don’t have masteries, my elite spec, or even have a single crafting profession unlocked. I have all exotic (berserker), but want to get all ascended. I tried grinding for 2 hours, but only got the first gliding thingy done. I have three hero points. I go anywhere because of no updraft training. I can’t find a way to make good gold. Please help me with all of these problems. First and foremost leveling my updraft training and elite spec. Then if there is an easy way to get gold or to level crafting please tell me. Thanks in advance and sorry in advance for my sub-par English skills
This game classes are very imbalanced 1v1 so its not a good idea till it gets balanced. Some classes don’t take any skill to kill a necro just faceroll on keyboard they have so forgiving survive everything mechanic while also burst.
the 1v1 mode will make balancing easier. Also they could balance the 1v1 mode, 2v2 and 3v3 seperatly from each other and conquest
I would love them to make a 1v1 and/or 3v3 mode. There is a big problem with them not making one, however. The fewer numbers in PvP the more obvious the imbalances between classes become. There also exists in the community a type of SPVP player that is kinda like a pve player on here that doesn’t want the pressure of doing well in a 1v1 or 3v3. These are the type of people who want to keep it very team dependent and less dependent on personal skill. You’ll find these people play the hardest classes to focus and kill and tell you its a team game without any valid counter points as to why things are so unbalanced.
This group is actually a growing population since they added pve incentives into spvp.
For this to happen it would probably take someone to buy anet from NCSOFT. Id be willing to guess sustain and 5man teams fits in with what they’re user metrics tell them. Id image the user data indicates a large player base of casuals who don’t like dying and wan’t to rely more on teams than individual skill.
Well what you said about team play would be comp, and in wow a game that’s pvp revolves around this, is very team based and comp based, however, with b&s’s 1v1 it is very counterplay based, so this would appeal to both of these types of players.
PLEASE ANET. The current mode does not even involve people fighting each other, you can avoid other people, cap / decap points, then run away at the first sign of someone with no engagement. And don’t make the maps like the mid point of the new Colosseum map, give it like 4 pillars around the edge and one biggie in the middle. Also please add like a tournament maker and guild tournaments where you and your guildies can go fight other guilds in ruthless guild tourneys (its called freaking guild wars but there is not gvg). I am starting to loose faith in this game along with a lot of other people, so I think that this would breathe fresh life into the game. I would also like to add that you could attain legendary through this. If you are in the top 200 you have a chance for a bunch of gold, or a precursor to drop. The notion that someone who is amazing at the game has to go through the same trouble as a horrible player to get a legendary with crafting is nuts. IMO they should drop from raids and high level fractals and high rated pvp.
P.S.
PLEEEEEEEASE REVAMP THE PIP SYSTEM!!!!!

So I’m gearing for wvw and pve, and I would love to know how much gold it costs per piece of ascended gear. I run gs axe shield warrior, and I would like to craft armor as well. Has anyone got a guesstimate to how much money this will take me?
It’s going to be tough to immediately get into raiding from having done only pvp unless you have friends or guildies who can teach you. I’m assuming you aren’t in that situation since you are asking here.
Generally getting into a guild that has a raiding community is a good bet, but it may be hard to get into one with zero ascended gear (though you probably have a couple boxes from pvp? I’ve gotten two and I play only infrequently). Ascended trinkets and weapons are much more important than armor and they’re fairly easy to get. Rings from fotm; accessories from laurels/guild coms + ecto, or fotm if you’re lucky; amulet from laurels/guild coms. Weapons you will have to craft unless you have boxes, but they’re actually pretty cheap (~90g) if you already have 500 crafting (which I’m assuming you don’t). Ascended backpack should be ridiculously easy for you since you play pvp.
Octovine multi-mapping is all the rage and can net ridiculous amounts of gold per hour, easily enough to level your crafting and make ascended weapons within a couple days. It’s not exciting but if you want to get into raids you should at least be moving towards ascended gear and this is the fastest way to do it. While you do octo, you can also periodically check LFG to look for training runs. There are also many guilds that have training runs once or twice a week (check that reddit thread from a while back about directory of guilds that do raid training runs).
Once you actually start raiding you will start to get ascended gear as boss drops or from magnetite, and gearing up characters will become much less difficult. The ascended gear itself isn’t horribly important for actual raids but it does provide an indicator to other players that you are more serious about pve.
The most important thing is to have a good attitude. You know that guy in pvp who rages at his team whenever anything doesn’t go right? Turns out no one want to raid with him either. Stay positive, be willing to learn, and take constructive criticism well. You may have to deal with some people that are jerks but the vast majority of people I have encountered are friendly.
Good luck!
Whats Octovine multi-mapping? (And I also know that annoying pvp rager very well
)
This is in the wrong subforum…
I don’t think there is a issue with going on exotic gear. Ascended gear is needed to do High Level Fractals, where you need to have a lot of Agony Resistance which can only be slotted on ascended gear. I don’t think the raids have a similar mechanic. You might need Maguuma Masteries tho.
thanks
I am a pvper (yes I’m invading you and your pve bubble) and I love pvp in every mmo that I’ve played but I raiding in wotlk in wow, and I really loved it in hindsight. I really want to try raiding in this game, but I have around 20 g at max. I know I need ascended weapon and trinkets, but I never leveled up my crafting (oops!) so how am I to get the gear? I have all exotic atm, so is that enough to raid with and down a boss or two? Thank you in advance.
I know this is the millionth time that this has been posted, but apparently the devs wont get the message, so there is no point in not trying.
Remember the days when you could run power in pvp or wvw. You could run condi in addition to this as well. Remember when there were not just two viable builds for a class. Remember when all that there was to pvp was perma cc then condi bomb. Remember the talent system before the june 23 update? Well, none of this is around anymore, and pvp is a clusterfuzz of condi and cc. Engis hit like theives but heal like a vanilla bunker guardian. Necros cleave the hell out of everything, while condi bombing with unblockable 900-1200 range aoe. Warrior is spamming primal bursts to light people up in seconds or disintegrating them with condis. I mained, and still main, a power warrior in pvp, and I have drawn myself away from berserker because it is not as fun compared to warrior for me. I cant do ranked because power warrior is not too viable as of now, and whenever I do ranked I always switch to berserker so I am not obsolete. I am forced to yoloq in unranked where I have 3v1ed in some instances, to noobs on the same cookie cutter build. If I see a ranger, they are either a pew pew or bunker druid. Never any diversity. The devs need to stop this bullkitten of narrowing our builds and options.
1. Condi dps should be more like decay them over time, and have a more sustained build, throwing dots everywhere in team fights. Now condi just disintegrates people faster than a full burst thief or warrior. Every season there is a super bunker condi build that annihilates everything and is super tanky.
2. Bring back the old talent system
3. Nerf elite specs to be level with the other talents, only use them for synergy with other traits and a weapon, not just to be viable.
So many people have left the pvp world, it needs something new in it, like 3v3 arenas or 1v1 arenas, and for the love of god let us que outside of the heart of the mists.
That is my spiel, comment all you want. Thanks for reading
My choices are ranger or thief. That’s what I’ve narrowed it down to. In general I love super bursty build, I main a warrior (power), and have been playing a bunch of rev and loving it. I will most likely be playing power with berserker gear. I like survive and the challenge of mastery, so when I’m a noob I feel clueless, but after a few seasons, I can curbstomp anything in 2 seconds. I also love doing outnumbered fights in wvw, so keep that in mind. So what would you recommend for me
I never had trouble with condi. 28s of condi immunity (7s healing sig, 14s bersk stance, 7s healing sig) and 1 condi removed every 5s is enough for my Marauder berserk really. Marauder op cuz it gives vit (counters condis and precision turns into ferocity from traits). ill guess you dont have HoT so you run vanilla foods and warrior, cuz dura runes better to counter condi (more stats, resistance, protection and regen)
Ill share my build, i run axe shield sometimes:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJAQJARUnMdAdhgVhA+dAElilsATpGk6iBvb2Q7pFZwVACAA-
/hrUCCwhAggjAADXAAkU+pv6PppLgUABO0C-w
My build has pack runes cuz theres not really much might on the build to rely on strength runes, strength runes have more burst but I still feel they have less overall sustain damage (-125 precision, -12s fury every 20s, but 5% damage increase(fury makes up for it) and ~90 power). Pack works in group better anyways.Anyways things I see to improve with your build, I do not have much against vanilla or hammer warriors:
1) you have 2 leeching sigils with 9s cd and 5s cd on weaponswap (swap one of them to energy, 1s damage immunity and you damage on dodge roll with strength traits, or air/blood on GS you want to)
2) merciless hammer, if running hammer, is obviously better than quickness under 50% health
3) You didnt put stats on your weapon
I have hot and I usually run berserker, it’s just for roaming lots of dps is lost in long fights cuz of the berserker cool down which is the only time you can burst so that is why I did vanilla. I usually replace strength with all top in berserker for dueling and spvp
In terms of game play if a berserker can land a headbutt strike, their opponent, but if not their base attacks loose out on tons of dps or survive based on trait choices. On warrior 20k hundred blades are not rare, but on berserker, a 10k hundred blade is great. In terms of sustained fights warrior wins, and can rek in out numbered situations, but berserker seems aufly button mashy and when not in berserker, it is boring and not too viable. The higher dps on warrior is great in team fights due to cleave, and berserker does not feel it. Berserker is great for 1v1s but not too much in team fights. Also berserker is no fun to play as it requires little skill to do max dps. Id love to hear your opinions and what you play in wvw spvp and pve!
This build isn’t what I’d call “new”. In fact, a similar one was listed on Metabattle (http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Warrior_-_Hammer/GS_Roamer) approximately 2 years ago.
The main concern I have with running this in small-scale combat is that the hammer skills are very telegraphed.
One food you might consider running is Fried Golden Dumpling.
Hammer if mastered is amazing, but axe shield or sword shield is very viable
Even with a tanky build I would not say they are unkillable. They have a lot of options for survival because of their low HP. Still if the ele is tanky they do low damage no burst. The reason why its fine is because how many viable specs do elementalist have? Before tempest elementalist used a bunker spec. Now their are no tanky amulets so elemental still use a bunker spec. Stuns, poison, confusion or just focus fire if they are using the current ele meta build low hp, alot of boons/removal/healing.
I agree, eles, are easy to kill once you pin them in cc (ie hammer rotation on warrior). It is all about timing. And in eles defense they are harder to master than some other classes.
Please tell me what you think of the build and any changes you would make that are not in the spme changes section.

This build is for any of you burst lovers who feel like the conditions are overshadowing them. This build is for you. It allows for good condi clear and condi management with resistance. I have gotten 20k hundred blades hits and won outnumbered situations with the kill them quick style of this build. This is viable in wvw and spvp and is tons of fun.
How to play:
First activate berserker stance to get adrenaline and mititgate the original condi bomb. Then open with a whirling attack. After that swap to hammer and open up with a feirce blow, staggering blow, into a backbreaker then a hammer shock, followed up by a earthshaker. Then swap into a hundred blades, and they should be dead in seconds! If not, then a condi bomb is coming your way, and when it hits, then activate healing signet mitigate more. In total you will have 12 seconds of resistance.
Some changes:
-If condis feel to much for you with this build just swap out last stand for cleansing ire. keep in mind that in the event that you do so the stability and ‘never get stunned aspect of the build
-If you feel to squishy then you can swap out hammer for axe or sword sheild for the block. This will make killing harder.
-Berserker gear can be swapped for demolisher’s, or marauders
-to add some extra damage to scholar runes.
-another option is rtestorative strength instead of death from above depending on you wvw style.
-tarragon loaf can be switched for mango pie
Notes:
This build takes some time to master, but when you get your rotations down I assure you, any fight can be taken on.
Counters:
-Theives, especialy evade theifs, just get them into the cc chain and they are done instantly or your done instantly
-necros, their boon corruption can make us loose out on a lot of condi clear and might. To prevent this hope you can lock them down in your hammer rotation and kill them quick.
-rangers, close the gap as fast as you can then do your rotation, otherwise your done for
-meditrappers, stay out of the traps, or spring them all when you have endure pain up.
when you learn to fight all of these take on any fight with ease!
So I decided to give GS/Hammer a whirl, but with a berserker variant.
I’ve never used Hammer before, and I’m fairly terrible at it. I’ve been running GS/Rifle all season. Anyway, playing in Diamond, I certainly miss the extra options I have on my rifle, however I can’t complain about Hammer’s ability to shut down Ele’s hard, and pretty much dish out some terrible pain in a team fight. It truly screws with Necro’s too, and under team focus you can pretty much lock someone down. Of course I run signits to boost the crit chance, and have double unblockables to make sure everything hits through all that Aegis/blocks.
Needs a half decent team comp though, as it won’t carry on its own vs various opponents you might face.
It is designed for just big dps, and is a blast in a wvw havoc in a group of these. In a group of 5 wvw players you can cc a zerg down in like 15 seconds.
The only issue with a berserker variant is if you sub out disc for arms you are forced into cleansing ire, wich defeats the ‘you cant get cced aspect of the build.’ I will try some experiments with arms though and see how well they work out for me.
I tried you build and it works well, just a bit too little stability for my liking. I will use it in the future though.
here is another variant of the build for heals and dps and stuns http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vJAQNAseSnMdAlCideAWhAcighpgCf8II2zPIsbh7ICgWH-TJRAQBopMAAeAAX4EAAw9HAA

The problem with berserker is spam able burst. Vanilla warrior required skill to master and was huge reward when mastered. But berserker you can go on point and have a spam fest and get top damage in a ranked match the first time you touch warrior. The bar refill should be slowed dramatically and the damage should be needed because if the spam. A berserker now is pretty much like a tanks theif w no stealth and better damage and way more survive. It is absurd. And don’t get me wrong I love warrior and I always have since vanilla but I play the vanilla version cuz it seems to be more fun to fight with and not so shallow to play. The bar needs to be slowed and lengthened as well as a fm get nerf. But most of all gw2 needs a condo nerf. Every patch has a condi build that wipes the floor with everyone and it happens to be berserker this time. Pls fix anet
pls no double leeching on warrior, cause with a 5 sec weapon swap cd and a 9cd sigil cd you will always skip one leeching effect
Ok
Please tell me what you think of the build and any changes you would make that are not in the spme changes section.

Not to mention its against the forum policy to post petitions. You will probably get infracted and lose your posting privileges for this.[/quote]
Did not realise the petitions thingy, kek
This was recently taken down, but I really beleive that if people voice their opinions, three years of sking will pay off. If this sounds like a good idea to you click on this petition link (more info about idea on web page): https://www.change.org/p/arena-net-1v1-2v2-and-3v3-arenas-in-guild-wars-2?recruiter=529032923&utm_source=share_for_starters&utm_medium=copyLink
To me at least the new meta sucks, and I find it quite stale. I am running a power warrior build, and I have a bunch of condi clear, but I am useless in team fights. Any builds you got. Also I can usually pull off a 2v1 in wvw roaming, but never in structured (including unranked), any help there as well?
