Other than the gliding in Tyria and the new lunar thing which i wasn;t expecting, there was nothing.
Lesson learned. We shouldn’t expect much. I mean, of course they’re doing something good here and there, but the results of the pvp balance is a complete joke. We waited how many months, or years for a good balance patch? Nah, nothing happened. HoT popped in and killed pvp. You could actually see power warriors being played before HoT, now you don’t see one

We all read it. There’s nothing SPECIAL in there. Those changes could be done by a 2 year old, that’s what I’m saying – there’s no fix. All they did was remove tanky amulets.
I think we can all agree with the disappointment that was today. When Ruby and co said that there were more balance changes which they wouldn’t address, I expected at least 4 which weren’t mentioned per profession, not just 1 or 2… For mesmer the only unexpected changes were to mistrust and feedback…
To sum it up: Lazy balance patch, most of the stuff got “fixed” old amulets are gone and new ones are in. And of course, let’s not forget the powercreep they just added.
As others said: for a balance that will happen three times a year, I expected EACH class to look like at least the whole post concerning classes…
we got hundred or so abilities and tweaks possible and you give us a kittening 5% on mesmer scepter trait, slaps on some torment and BAM scepter rework…And that’s not taking into account every other classes.
I’m very disappointed by what I saw.
You’re not the only one. Blade and Soul in korea managed to balance 5vs5 conquest. Idk how they can fail to balance so hard. I’ve never played such a balanced game in terms of pvp / openworld pvp before. Black Desert coming out soon <3.
No, but foreal. Jokes aside. Sometimes I just wonder if the balance team play their own game. For instance, their changes are something a regular player could easily figure out. What’s more disappointing is that the changes will remain for another 3 months, and by then people have found* " THE ULTIMATE BUILD THAT MAKES YOU UNSTOPABLE"* aka will be posted on metabattle. That is “where” the potential in the class shines, not some scrubby build the devs are running to test out.
Give it time, and I will promise you there’s something majorly wrong with this balance patch.

Ruby during guildchat: If we were to go through all the patch notes, it would take 4 hours.
Balance doesn’t mean kill ele or other (if others are destroyed). Warriors will remain where they are, no traitline fix which is CRUCIAL.
These changes to classes would take anybody 20min to figure out. Feel free to add me and take my gold, I’m going on a hiatus breeeeeeeeeeak.
You can’t rely on how your teammates play, in order to win. Play your own game and do what you think has to be done to win a game. If theres anything many people hate, that is people trying to create some form of strategical play in soloQ.
For instance, I dont listen to teammates and I never will. They’er not going to tell me how to play(You’re going to have the mindset that ure better than everybody) to win games.
Warriors will stay in their graves unless some rework of traits/skills happen. If the preview was any hint about what they think about buffing sustain, its bye bye for warriors for next season as well. Also LB primal burst and gunflame needs nerf.
Don’t worry. 20 HP more per sec on Healing Signet will have us sustained in fights. We’re just tanking 20k dps in one second, no worries!
1, Helseth is entitled to his opinion, however….
2, There is a reason Helseth is banned from these forums, its so we don’t have to hear him opinions.
3, Helseth is rude and hateful to people on his stream and in game. I have no idea why he chooses to act this way, and I have no idea why arenanet as a corporate entity want to be associated at all with such a toxic individual.
4, He claims it is part of his “persona”. So his persona is making people feel kittenty about themselves by persistently mocking and bullying them? Yeh, great “persona” that is.
5, He might be good now (I have no idea if he is tbh), but he was always overrated in the past. Very overrated. The extent of his skill was telling people how good he was over and over until people believed it. He might be good now (finally) but before that I played him alot and he was an average mesmer who was way behind the best 3/4 mesmers on EU.
I have nothing against him personally. I do, however, think that going out of his way to mock and be rude to a large percentage of people he encounters is not really something that should be tolerated by the community.

True to some extent. But it goes too far. At the end of the day the internet is just a medium over which people (REAL people) communicate and interact. To be rude and make pretty harsh comments about people constantly on the internet to me is no different to doing it in “real life”.

I love trolling, I love seeing people how I want them to react. However, in real life during work or university I’m an adult. What does this say about me then? I don’t have people in real life who I can eff around, like I can on the internet. It’s pretty much the only place where I can be a complete jerk and laugh for my own good, and not because of others.
His stream is quality, it gives me a good laugh every time I tune in, and I keep on wanting him to stream so my boring nights can at least be amusing. I’d rather watch someone like Helseth than people are being WHO you want them to be. Girls be girls, but on twitch? Why do they all have to act so cute in front of young boys to get donations? Do you guys play the game enough to tweak this and that? I mean, by playing I’m talking about copy-pasting build from metabattle – like 99% of the population. Just very curious, cause how come every balance patch we get, 2 classes or more become close to nonexistent? This is not how balancing work. Removing the amulets isn’t how you balance either. Now I love this game, and I really love the spvp too, but it just feels like a lazy move compared to other games that are being balanced by a little – every month.
Right now I’m judging before I even get the 26th january patch, but the outcome seems pretty clear
So many bad players are being carried by their build, due to how easy it is to play that specific one, and all the passives that saves them from an opening, aka enemy combo (which you happen to survive, cause passives). The amount of randomness we get these days is just insane, build diversity, skill, strategical? If anything, don’t overbuff thief or warrior. I don’t know with Tera, but one class isn’t dominating everything there.

Chill, like Alacity, really don’t need to have such strong recharge reduction. Now that a lot of the new specs have >30 second recharges, making the slowing even strong on everything old.
As for the Reaper chill damage, it’s fine, just have it so it damages chilled people NEAR the reaper, instead of like 1,200 range away. Heck, I don’t mind if the chill doesn’t even belong to the reaper, just limit it’s damage radius to next to the reaper than everything you chill.
I don’t find it creepy at all. It’s nothing personal as I don’t know him in real life. But yes, it do happens every second in real. If I wanted to hire someone, I’d do a background check on that person I consider hiring. Many people nowadays lie on their CV, and calling around and asking different places where they have been is a part of it. Is it considered creepy? To be able to judge someone, you will always have to do some background information.
When reaper’s are meta, we will talk about nerfing them. Not before, not after.
They were meta, people complained massively back then. Reapers were used a lot in ESL, of course this was pre-condicancer rev era. Basically everybody replaced reaper with rev

reapers are the first to die in a team fight if they get focused hard and do not have good support from their team mates.
reaper chill is fine and does not need to be looked at.
some one does need to look at their condition removal management though.

Those test seasons had many of the same problems the current season has. No reason to believe the next season will be much better.

Major 1: Why do we even have a pip system? It’s horrible. You win one game, you win a pip, might be lucky and win 2. You lose one game, you lose one pip, you might even be unlucky and lose 2 pips. Why is my hardworking pip gone after a stupid loss?

FIX: Make it a point-ladder system, instead of pips (Gosh I hate that word now). In League of Legends per win, you get around 30 points, and when you lose, 20-23’ish. That’s 7 points earned over 2 games.
That’s absolutely untrue. The amount of LP you win or lose in league is determined by how far is your MMR from your league.
Some people lose 20LP per lose and win 10, some win 30LP and lose 10.
That is exactly why they shouldn’t have lost so many games to begin with. Its the same that applies to here. The fact that MMR did not reset with the league launch screws it up. Diamond players that plays like ambers cause they had low mmr, so reachin Diamond would be easier than someone with high mmr reaches Diamond.

That is one way to make the game healthy. Look at LoL, CSGO, Dota and SC2. You can lose your league, no matter how high up you are. This forces you to play consistently and do well. Not some coinflip abou which team is getting #1 kitten of the match.
Major 2: Does the report system work as intended? If so, then why isn’t cringe bingador (the correct name for those who knows, known to throw games) banned?
FIX:Wake up support, take action. Fix the report system already.
Major 3 Class balance is a joke, of course in every MMORPG you have classes that are way better than others, but you don’t have 4 classes simply just wiping everybody off with a simple keymash on the keyboard. I came to this game, seeing as it took skill and to know when you use your abilities, but I was wrong. The amount of CC spam you can chain on someone, then later burst him down within a second or two, is ridic.
FIX:As Colin said on his statement regarding ESL players aren’t influencing the devs balancement (as they call it) is so wrong. We have a very low playerbase in PvP, and not listening and taking advice to see what to nerf and what to buff is a stupid move. Valve listens to pro players, so does Riot. Why can’t Anet do this?
Major 4Why are the devs so quiet? Do they actually believe by being quiet is going to help the so-called “esports” to grow? They are good with marketing indeed, but the way they handle this game is absurd. Sure enough, the game is old. But do they work hard and want it to continue? Well, start waking up for season 2. I’m pretty sure that’s the end-line for many players, to take a huge break until they fix and stabilize the pvp.

Well one could argue 10% personal skill, 40% luck with teammates, 50% luck with enemy players. So 10% personal skill 90% luck.
Math checks out, this is the best answer.

Hate to say it, yes. Ruby is very frustrating and difficult to get out of if you soloQ or DuoQ, especially when the odds are against you.
Learn from League of Legends. I’ve met way to many people who gets into ruby (knowing they can’t get diamod) so they don’t care about winning, knowing they won’t lose their beloved Ruby.
Make it so if you drop your mmr too low, you’ll lose the division. Simple as that. There’s literally nothing you can say against this system, cause it’s working like a charm in LoL atm. I remember when people trolled on purpose cause they couldn’t lose their league. Same applies here, people dun gief a kitten.
I don’t fully agree to OP, but I can feel him. I’m very close to Diamond, and I play warrior. I’m not going to re-roll a profession cause people want me to, when I don’t find it fun? Warrior and reapers are the only fun professions for me in the game. I dont play ranked to make people happy and having a good time, I want to have fun. Don’t blame us for playing and loving warriors, blame Anet. If kitten was allowed with no punishment when caught, is it the rapists fault or the corruption? It would probably trigger people to kitten more, hence systems fault, even though a portion is the rapists fault. But in this case, I’m having fun on warrior & reaper. Tell us to quit, tell us to gtfo. But know one thing, y’all suffer from dunner kruger effect.

Shouldn’t have been pips in the first place. You win a game, you gain a pip, you lose a game, you lost all your progress. Why couldn’t they simply just make it simple and add points instead? In LoL you can win 30, lose 26, so you earned 4. This will keep on adding up until your mmr falls so low below your division, that you lose MORE than you win. And the only way to fix is to win a lot. /rant?
I’m perfectly fine about that they’re not going to die in a 1vs1, or even 1vs2. I’m fine that people found a way to make a mesmer bunkerish, I’m also very fine about Anet sayin they’ll shake the meta in every season balance patch. I’m fine with everything except for, why are some skills upon use, not contributing to point-capping, when you have literally a zombie bunker mesm that can hold a node all game. It’s an easy fix-around, just tweak and tune it whenever they spam all the aids, they won’t contribute to the point.
NA ESL pro league = 2 bunker mesm each game, so much fun. Why is ANET letting this happen?
This is not even a problem about adapting to the changes or learn to play issue. It’s simply just aids spreading faster than it spreads in Africa.

I’m sorry to say this, but as much as you hate warrior/thieves. I’m maining a warrior and I refuse to reroll and bandwagon with other professions. I’ve tried them all, didn’t like them cause way to easy to play in sPVP, heck some people even lose against a warrior when playing a copypasted metabattle build.
Therefor, I’m playing for my own fun, not going to play something I don’t like for the sake of people finding my class UP. Blame Anet, not me.
Also sorry for you who gets bad warriors on the team

No faults so far, but I’ll be testing more features out, and try to make a statistic on how my computer does with and without the driver. Cause the big update for me was the direct 9 support, so we’ll see!

Well I’m pretty sure the original plan was to launch the balance patch two weeks before the start of proleague, to give time to the players to absorb the changes – and that didn’t really happen.
So really now it’s a 50/50 chance between us getting a big balance patch on Dec. 1st that will shake the meta and screw over the pro players, or us not getting jack kitten until the next season. Call me negative, but I kinda lean on the latter.

I’ve tried a similiar build, and I’ve tried with Strength instead of Defence, and my conclusion is that going kamikaze Berserker (Strength, Discipline, Berserker with Strength Runes) gets you better results.Playing GS without Strength is kinda pointless
Yeah, I tried with Strenght as well, but I felt too squishy. The point isn’t to do much damage as possible by sacraficing too much sustain. The reason why I in particular like this and enjoy it, is because I can heal myself during teamfights – and manage to do more than decent damage. I just hope they’ll rework the traits somehow, so we can add strength into it.

I just had fun one day, figuring all kind of things out because I was pretty bored with the standard core-warrior. And I found A LOT of success with this build. I found a couple of people asking me “How did you do so much damage?” It’s not really expected to win duels, right? Well, this is a very “easy” way to go.

- Balanced stance > Headbutt > Toggle Zerker > Blood Reckoning + the usual warrior gs/axe combo. You can do all that within a 0.5 sec frame, enough for you to choose and land hundred blades or do another stun with shield before hundred blades (Optional)What it provides:
- Burst and damage (ALWAYS ANGRY FTW)
- Tons of HEAL in TEAMFIGHTS.
- CC
- Great condi removal
- Perma stability
- 200+% CRITICAL DAMAGE IN ZERKER.Stomping: NEVER STOMP. Please, never. Blood Reckoning will heal you up 100% from low if you combo someone in downed state (Higher dmg, given more hp in rally)

Just pop Endure Pain whenever you feel like it btw.
I’ll be honest, every build that just one regular player come up with is crap, and living into the illusion that it’s good. I really don’t believe it will be the meta anyways. But I can assure you’ll find yourself healing a lot with Rune of Vampirism and a lot of fun. The combo is kinda safe-proof to land, so you’ll be dealing damage in a safe way. Before you say that Rune of Vampirism is absurd for warriors, I’d like to say; What is damage if you die?
You can also choose to run Rune of Strength for the 5% dmg during might (You get it from zerker)
Amulet: Marauder

I made a thread about this. Sadly, it seems most players support having dishonor with missing the queue. Although, I see no benefits that would outweigh the cost of this new system. I agree with having dishonor, but it should come from actions that hurt other players experience, not stepping away from your computer at the wrong time while waiting in HotM.
Implementing dishonor with a low pvp playerbase doesn’t really ring any bells to me. Sure, you want to punish those who goes AFK, but that happens 1/10 match for me. I’d rather lose quick than waiting 10min for a freaking game.
I’m not sure if dishonor is the reason I wait 2min+ for a game now. Ever since the implementation into the game, I’ve been in average of 7min. When people get 3min punishment for missing the “accept” button, that also affects other players – you could say you have to wait another 3min (takes already too long to find a game)

I’m not suffering this, and I have no clue why you assume I have. It was and never will be a requirement to write about yourself on a forum, in order to post. I didn’t make this thread to talk about myself, lol. I don’t need to write more and I don’t need to write less, this thread is still getting attention from people who want to discuss. As Chaith already replied;
The biggest illusion of skill is winning fights in which you outnumber the enemies.
If you’re trying to measure the value of your rotations & actions, you’re only ever creating value by outnumbering the enemy if you get kills fast and are able to quickly impact other fights.
Rules to make live by in order to create value:
- If other options are present, refuse to enter a fight that involves outnumbering defensively built enemies.
- Especially don’t be that person to enter an existing 1v1 fight as a “+1” if your build is built defensively, unless it’s to switch with your teammate. The enemy will not die much faster, and your ability to soak damage isn’t being used when you’re outnumbering.
- Filter out of a fight as you get kills so situations where you’re outnumbering the enemies by more than one player will never happen.
Lots of players have never even been vaguely aware of the basic rules of rotating, the game doesn’t introduce them at all. So it’s not really a surprise to me that this Dunning–Kruger effect is especially common in GW2

As I hate to say it, you’re right(Sometimes it’s fun to see people whine cause you rekt them really hard, hidden rating ftw). Every other E-sport game have their mm/rating visible at all times for anybody to see.

Welp, this means I’m not alone when I say I’m utter garbage and still somehow win matches >.> Am sure that I got carried tbh. Also, what about when we play Thief/Warrior (I’m sure Warrior will be a bit better off soon, but its much better than Thief =/ unfortunately)? >.> How do we fit in then knowing that we can beat someone for swapping classes? Glad that you’re one of the few that is willing to improve rather whining. What I usually tell myself; “You’re good when you see your weakness and work on it” <— Never ending cycle that you won’t stop being hungry to work on you weakness, which basically means you’ll never be good enough. Always something else you can improve on.
About the warrior and thief thingy, it’s more like how you adapt to the game. Of course you would probably do better by playing a Rev, than a warrior. But don’t look out of the answer, you can perform good and carry with a warrior. It’s more in the decision of how you want to pursue your weakness, in order to win (This doesn’t count bandwagon).
If you do prove yourself that you can defeat your enemy if you’d be playing another profession, it shows the part imbalance in this game. But don’t take it for granted, now you know that you can improve the “weaker” profession, cause you’d probably win with another profession. Just don’t go around and tell people you’re good cus of x class, that kind of bandwagon is horrible. Good people usually stay quiet, and the bad tend to speak up

So what about the wisdom of the crowd since your such a genius that knows everything? Generally the crowd knows more then even a very smart small group of people. I would definitely say the consensus is that there is a lot wrong with GW2 pvp at the moment. So while your average player might over estimate his own skill in aggregate they know when stuff is broken or unbalanced none the less. Are you another balance is perfectly fine person? A-net spat out an expansion with tons of new abilities and everything was balanced perfect right out of the box? If you are then you are easily dismissed as another I am pro you are a whiner type trying to clothe themselves in some kind of intellectual package. You sound like some college kid with zero real world experience. Back to the textbooks.
While the post does read like he literally just took a Psych 101 class and had an epiphany you are misconstruing both what the OP is saying (who has made several whine posts about imbalance) and the “wisdom of crowds.” Crowds are stupid and the people on this forum are generally ill-informed.
The wisdom doesn’t lie with the vocal people on this forum but with the decisions players are making. Players are shifting towards some specs and away from others – that is where the wisdom lies.

Anyhow, yes. I’ve made a big thread about dragonhunter imbalance, and it got pretty out of hand pretty quickly. But I feel like, people like you can actually stay on the forums and make logical sense.
