I was fine for about an hour after I downloaded the patch but now I can’t talk in /party, /guild or /map. Nor can I /whisper. However, I can still send in game mail.

I hope ANet fixes this soon. :/

Two follow-up questions:

When you purchase 20 tokens for 480 gems (or 5 for 150 gems) do they have to be redeemed in bulk, or can a few be used every weekend (or every other weekend) as needed?

Is one token every two weeks enough to keep the arena from being deleted?

I didn’t see this answered on the FAQ: How long is the grace period once the 30 days from the Starter Kit expire?

My guild does not do a lot of PVP but we’d like to have some weekend skirmishes for fun. We don’t want to purchase a Starter Kit for 1600 gems only to have to continually buy tokens to keep the arena active when we’d only be using it every now and then. So, we’d like to let it expire when the 30 days end and purchase tokens to reactivate it on an as needed basis. Hopefully the grace period is not something asinine like 48 hours, but something more like 1 month. … Does anyone know?

My guild just attempted this event chain. When we started the status was “The Lionguard are preparing to attack Laughing Gull Island and Taidha Covington.” Bill and Hekja were already dead inside the ship. We went into the ship, killed the champion, and watched them exit to the beach. There they stood for 5-10 minutes until they started their event over. This time we followed them for the duration. We killed the champion, AGAIN, and they exited to the beach. Nothing happened. 5 minutes later, the Bill/Hekja event restarts. Meanwhile, no assault by the Lionguard on the island. … As for escorting Lionguard Jenny, she was nowhere to be seen.

This was on Gate of Madness as well.

I haven’t tried it, but maybe setting the pet to passive and using the “Guard” skill would keep the pet out of the way for this particular encounter.

I do strongly support a perma-store option, though. It’s quite aggravating to be doing a jumping puzzle only to take a little bit of damage and now there’s something blocking my vision.

It’s probably been said before, but some of the issues small guilds are facing with regard to these guild missions could be solved if ANet implemented GW1:Factions-style Alliances. Small guilds could align and discuss strategy in an /alliance chat, but retain their autonomy in other respects. Also, allow any guild in an alliance to donate influence to another guild so that large guilds might help smaller guilds unlock missions/tiers.

Shadow Behemoth doesn't always spawn [Merged]

Since our last attempted fix, we’ve found what some of you have also seen: there are ways that the events leading up to the Shadow Behemoth spawning can get blocked (potential fix in the works). We’re also investigating why the portals/behemoth are occasionally untargetable. Thank you for the additional details!

A friend and I beat the Shadow Behemoth on GATE OF MADNESS about two weeks ago, but the swamp has been dormant since.

I’m trying to convince friends of mine who abandoned GW2 last fall to give the game another shot. One of their complaints was a lack of group content for low levels. At level 30 everyone gave Ascalon Catacombs a shot and nobody liked it much. What level do you have to be to run the Fractals? 80? Any? Most of my friends never progressed beyond level 30-40. Thanks.

I made Explorer’s Noble Shoulders (defense: 86) via leatherworking, but I can’t transmute with Berserker’s Pirate Shoulders (defense: 80). I made Explorer’s Noble Pants (defense: 193) via leathworking, but I can’t transmute with Commando’s Pants (defense: 153). None of these items are currently equipped to my person.

Is it simply not possible to transmute with items you’ve crafted? Seems bizarre to me. I want the inherent stats of the high level stuff I craft, plus the insignias I make, but I like the skins of some of the stuff I found. Plus, I want to keep the runes I’ve already equipped—and I don’t want to salvage for them, because with my luck I’ll probably lose them.

Any help would be appreciated.

Btw, what happens if you’re lucky enough to find a PUG that wants to do Arah and you get halfway through and someone quits on you? In other dungeons new party members can join in progress, but how does that work in Arah where the gate shuts behind you? You’d have to wait while your new party member starts the event chain over, yes? Oh, gods. What a nightmare.

Agree 100% with this thread.

I’m stuck on the last storyline quest with no way to complete it. My guild doesn’t have enough active level 80 members available to accompany me, and I don’t like grouping with strangers. (My experience: if they don’t like your profession, your build, or they don’t think you’re good enough, etc., they boot you from the party or grief you.)

Even if I could find a good PUG capable of doing the dungeon, first we have to do all of the dynamic events to unlock the gate—and that’s not possible because the events are bugged. Let’s say they weren’t bugged, though. I still need a large window of time to organize a group, complete the dynamic events, slay the bosses, and only then start the dungeon. Yikesabee!

But the real salt in the wound is that if I’m not the party leader my character isn’t even the featured player in his final personal storyline cinematics.

The whole concept of this last quest is very dispiriting.

There is no need to show Guild members in overflows and all over the entire world – just in the same map as you.

Gold dots on your map to designate guild members. This would be an excellent addition, particularly for WvW where your party size is capped at 5.

Melee on a Ranger seems wrong?!
Wait what, you do realise Ranger in this context does not mean a person that uses ranged weapons right.

Traditional rangers use a sword! Just ask Aragorn. :P

Traditional rangers meaning rangers from Guild Wars 1, which didn’t support the wielding of melee weapons. Yes, you could wield a dagger or sword, but you got no benefit from your Marksman points, most Preparation skills, and (naturally) Bow Skills. Unless you were a “touch Ranger” in PvP you used a bow 99% of the time. That’s why melee weapons on the ranger seem wrong to me.

Your comments about the ranger ring true as my friends and I have all needed to take short breaks from playing this profession because of the skills. It’s not that the ranger’s skills aren’t powerful compared to other professions, but there’s not that many skills to choose from, and because of that playing the ranger gets repetitive. I find myself using the sword/warhorn or axe/axe combo not because I like those skills (melee on a RANGEr seems wrong) but because I get sick of the longbow and shortbow. The ranger has something like 32 weapon skills compared to the elementalists’s 60+, and if you want to be a traditional ranger and go bow only you have a whopping 10. We need more bows! Recurve bow, flat bow, horn bow, CROSSBOW (dual wielding crossbows!).

Longbow: My favorite weapon. I love rapid fire, barrage, and point blank shot. Barrage is about the flashiest skill in our arsenal.
Shortbow: I like all of the conditions this weapon can inflict, except that concussion shot never seems to stun even when I’m for sure standing behind a foe.
Greatsword: My absolute least favorite weapon. I feel clumsy wielding it. Counterattack would be more useful if the timer was longer.
Sword: Entertaining, but I usually aggro additional enemies with all my acrobatics.
Axe: I really only like it in my offhand when I can use whirling defense.
Dagger: Whimpy.
Torch: Both skills do burning, which is predictable. Maybe one of the skills could push your opponent back, cause blindness, reflect projectiles? Something?
Warhorn: No complaints. I love both these skills.

Traps are useful, especially if you unlock the trait that lets you throw them. (Otherwise you have to command your pet to retreat, or most enemies won’t get close enough to trip them.) Spirits die way too quickly, and the range of their triggered abilities is far too short. You have to assign traits to improve them, but even then they’re not very strong. Could the cooldown be made shorter? That would help a little. And I sure wish the F2 skill for the pets would work.

Anyway, that’s my rant for the ranger. My complaints are mostly related to the lack of really fun weapons, specifically bows. Adding a bow or two exclusive to the ranger would go a long way to making the profession more unique and fun to play.
