only an engineer can do more damage by pole vaulting with his rifle then just shooting them.
blind is a real pain to deal with, but it is possible. the way i usually do it is killing off the scouts one by one with a longbow then when they’re all dead i can start actually trying to kill everything else. takes a while and someone is bound to notice if you spend to much time, but it can work.
Hope you don’t mind me borrowing you’r thread a bit.
After reading some threads on the forum i’m really doubting if i want to start leveling him again.
I’m really not a fan of the grenade since i uses ground targeting but i really like playing duel pistols and to use elixirs but here is the questions will it be viable to use in the later points in the game for example in expert dungeon’s ?
Guess i’m going to half to use grenades for AoE packs?
And for the record i’m more of pve questing player and dungeons player and a bit of a noob then a pvp/WvW player.
you’ll get coated bullets eventually, so you won’t have to worry as much about AoE as you seem to be thinking, but if you’re worried you can always just use bombs. though you’ll have to be in practically melee range to do that effectively or have aggro, both of which are bad unless you build somewhat tanky.
level every class to 80
finish the dungeons you haven’t yet
amass a huge amount of gold in case there’s something worth buying in the future
make EVERY legendary
finish every achievement
5 things off the top of my head, right there.
straight power is going to beat condition damage in time it takes to kill things, unless you can get a large group of mobs to stand in the 4 skill or something.
for your other weapon, probably a rifle unless you decide to go condition damage, in which case pistol/pistol is the way to go, the blowtorch does a pretty big burn.
for utility skills, if you just want to kill stuff fast then elixir u is pretty great, and elixir s can really get you out of a bind, other then that there is elixir…b i think? the one that gives 4 boons, could be useful to give you some more damage. rocket turret is pretty decent as well if you place it properly. rocket boots do a pretty big burn with the tool belt skill, so that’s something to consider if you go for a condition build.
i’ve also been having some really long load times the last couple days.
i’m still having this problem, but it’s not every single time now. sometimes it doesn’t do it, but it still does the majority of the time.
i felt like both are terrible for leveling honestly and that you’re better off just constantly using a kit, but if i had to pick i would say rifle is easier in my opinion to start with, once you get coated bullets pistols are probably better at fighting large amounts of mobs.
If we were to have a new icon, I’d suggest a wrench.
Hmm, that’s actually a really good, non-joking idea. +1.
i support this idea, +1.
I always thought the icon was an Elixir :P
Me too. Looks like a little Elixir jug with a cork in the top.
One more here ._.
as did i
only an engineer could fit and infinite supply of grenades, oil, bombs, unpredictable volatile concoctions, rockets, and flame thrower fuel on himself with no consequences or accidents.
i would be inclined to agree, but that event takes like half an hour to complete because everyone likes to constantly nuke the mobs before they even scratch the NPC :l
it isn’t that hard to solo, it really helps to have swiftness and vigor to help with keeping away from the instant death, but it is entirely possible to run around the whole area where the parts spawn and get out without dieing. also, the amount of time it takes shouldn’t be considered in whether or not it can be solo’d unless the event has a time limit, and i don’t believe this one does.
thats because fractals aren’t counted as dungeons, fractals have their own monthly when they’re applicable, and this month they’re not.
happens to me as well sometimes, anything that moves you fixes it though.
Berserkers are the best if you’re going for straight up damage. as for runes and traits, i feel like it depends on what weapon you want to run, great sword or axe.
commanders has their own little buff icon. just cycle through targets until you find them.
i thought earth sigil was a 5 second bleed? in that case it would only be 7.5 seconds even with deep cuts.
i think it’s one of the more fun builds, and i use it personally, but only because no one ever expects a condition damage warrior, if they figure out what you’re doing you’re kinda screwed assuming they have any condition removal at all UNLESS you have other conditions along with your bleed and burns, and you do have other conditions assuming you trait or give up a elite slot for them. them being the confusion on interrupt and the reaper of grenth elite skill.
firstly you have the confuse on interrupt trait, you can either use some of the physical skills that can interrupt, like bull charge, or you can use the shield 4 ability if you’re running one. i personally like using an axe for burning bolts combo with longbow burst and it gives me a better chance to be able to kill thieves so i don’t use shield anymore, but it is nice if you want to have a huge amount of invincibility via endure pain + block, and the shield 4 counts as a leap so you can get the flame shield from it if you use it in the longbow burst.
next, reaper of grenth is terrible IMO compared to signet of rage and warbannor but it accomplishes what we want, condition stacking. it offers poison AND chill both of which are decent, chill because it can screw with peoples escapes and leaps and stuff, and poison because of the heal reduction. the damage ticks from the poison won’t be terrible either because we’re stacking condition damage.
to actually make the build work you HAVE to immobilize them. the end, you can’t keep them in one place and you’ll lose trades. you’ll have at least three immobilizes with the sword 3 and burst and longbow 5, and more depending on if you’re running with shield or using the physical utility skills so it shouldn’t be to hard unless they’re a thief or mesmer.
now, as for dungeons….if you have a necromancer or thief who wants to stack bleeds then this build is bad, the end. don’t run with this if you have a necromancer or bleed stacking thief in you’re group. you can get rid of the utility and elite skills you use in WvW/PvP for better things to the group of course, banners come to mind. could also use frenzy to quickly build up a large bleed stack.
anyways, this got a lot longer then i thought it would, so i’ll sum it up here, this build is only good when people don’t expect it. if they see it coming they’ll be ready with every condition removal they have and you probably won’t get anywhere fighting them, for people like that either peace out or waste their time until someone can come help you.
make sure that you’re doing all the dynamic events that you come by, they give a rather significant amount of the EXP you’re going to get as you level. heart quest as well. other then that, getting map completion will give you some EXP, and a reward if you 100% the area, you also need 100% total map completion to make a legendary way down the road so you may as well get started on it.
make sure you complete your dailies as well, they give some EXP, a LOT karma, and coins you can use in the mystic forge way down the road.
probably to keep some people who put off until the last minute from getting many more laurels then those who did it immediately.
make sure you fully explore the orr areas + forstgorge sound (if that right? idk, it’s the area claw of jormag spawns in.) you’ll get a couple exotics which you can either use or sell to buy other exotics.
if you’re tight on money you can always just try to farm up for the karma gear from temples, they cost 42k karma a piece which will take a while but they won’t cost you a cent so you’ll be able to have some money to invest in the market, to get more money down the road.
as for crafting, unless you’re willing to farm the materials to make them it’s going to be just as expensive or even more so as straight up buying one of whatever you’re trying to craft. the worst thing is the ectoplasm for the exotic recipes though, for the other things they’re fairly simple to get, if a bit time consuming. for ectoplasm you have to dissemble rare equipment and even then it’s only a chance, you might not get any at all. you could just sell the rare and buy an ectoplasm though, that’s more of a sure thing and might save you a lot of time and potentially money in the end if you’re unlucky with RNG. if you’re doing the larger quest chains (the temples, jormag) you should get some rares eventually.
now, for dungeons you have a couple options in terms of builds. you can go glass and be a large damage dealer, but you’ll die quickly if you’re not careful. you can do banners or healing shouts for support, or you could go straight tank which i personally don’t like as i think others can do it better, but it’s an option.
for dungeon gear, i dunno actually because i only started dungeons and fractals after i had all my exotics.

agreeing with longbow, burst is radius is huge, and 2 does penetrate if i remember correctly. 3 is kinda meh in my opinion however. i run a condition build and my burn does 500+ damage a tick so the burst is usually enough for me. after using burst make sure you switch up to x/axe for burning bolts
i personally only ever have problems when they’re on different level of terrain, both above and below me. if they’re on level ground it usually works right. anything that affects movement speed or animation (quickness!) screws it up however.
happened to me as well
i run vitality on my main equipment, and toughness on my accessories, i think it makes for a decent balance.
his OHKO is ridiculous, it can cover literally the entire room he’s in AND the stairs all at the same time, failed it twice because we literally could not get close to the NPC to protect him, and getting to the portal to kill the shades was nigh impossible without some people sacrificing themselves and having to run all the way back.
mine’s a charr, and i wouldn’t have it any other way.
love running a bow as my secondary because i run with a condition build, it’s mostly the burst skill that i use it for because it’s amazing for denying an area for the enemy to stand on, and with all my condition damage it can do some really nice burn damage
mesmers and d/d elementalist for sure. i run with sword/shield and even use the immobilize on cripple trait and bola utility skill but i can never seem to catch them in the end. so annoying :l
the exact same thing happens to me constantly, it seems to happen when i open it right after logging in (not changing characters, opening the client) and switch to another tab before it has a chance to fully load, if i wait the first time it never happens
Only an Engineer can do more damage with a wrench then a rifle
burst refers to your adrenalin skill, 3% is completely worthless by the way, you probably would never even notice a difference from it being at 0%.
ok thanks guys! and im wondering do you guys craft your own stuff alot? or nah
i crafted my own weapons as i leveled with my warrior, but it’s so costly to level weapon smithing that i was broke with just that. it’s ALOT cheaper in the long run to just buy most of your weapons, however crafting will also give quite a bit of EXP if you want to level a bit faster.
also, i was fine with upgrading my equipment every 10 levels.
just had queensdale show as divinity’s reach while i was there, but it went back to normal when i went to another area. no idea why it’s happening. it only seems to be like that on queensdale for me but i also can’t see divinity’s reach completion information on the map.
My char engineer is currently level 31, I’ve been through some of the char areas, a couple norm, lions arch and the area north of it. however my char is reading at a whooping 0% map completion. attached picture below.
