The problem isn’t 5 signet warriors, it’s people complaining about 5 signet warriors while pugging. People looking to do a pug run are usually looking out for themselves, as that’s usually how they play the game, by themselves. They don’t fine tune their chars for a group, as they have no group to tailor their build to. If you don’t want to group with those type of players, stop pugging, get yourself a group, and quit expecting something different (the very definition of insanity).
The problem here is most normal people don’t play gw2 to play the virtual world stock market. People should be making the vast majority of their in game money wandering the world killing things, rescuing maidens, and killing dragons, not having a heroic battle speculating ectoplasm prices.
The game is supposed to be an escape from the real world, not a lesson in economics.
In my guild, about a dozen of us completed the event. Most of us did so twice, on alts. I managed three runs. Nobody got a precursor. When I see claims like “half my guildies got one,” I am fairly confidant that is not true.
The vast majority of participants got the following:
- Two completely random exotics (level 62 – 80, depending on your character’s level)
- A level 80 exotic accessory
- A twenty slot box
- Two random yellowsThat is very generous, but there’s nothing on that list you cannot grind out in normal play. There’s no reason for rage.*
*unless you were doing the event when the game went down for routine maintenance. That’s a colossal blunder on ANet’s part.
That’s exactly what I got, and what most of my guild did as well. One girl got Leaf of Kudzu, the rest of us pretty much what you described. It made her day and is rerolling a ranger so she can actually use it, good for her
i didnt make this post to complain about loot,
i thought this forum could do with this “possible” solution.
have you seen the threads on people that were disconnected even though they did everything that everyone else did?
telling people to get “perspective” and “relax” is patronising, i simply feel sympathy for them, and if you weren’t so busy being smug, you might also.
I feel sympathy for people who got disconnected, having been disconnected and having missed loot rolls from other things I participated in. I don’t feel enough though to think everyone else should suffer because of it, and certainly not enough to take away what everyone else got.
Try and look on the bright side, these people at least got to see the event. There are people who didn’t even get that due to the time zone they lived in.
If you got a loot roll at all you came out far ahead than if you didn’t, considering you got a 20 slot backpack item. How much do those cost to make? That’s 10 gold just for the superior rune of holding.
Quit basing your world on what other people got. It was a long event, had a bunch of interesting new features that came with it, and the fractals have been a lot of fun so far. After 3 years of playing Warhammer Online my reward was 2 endless dyes, and people here are complaining about loot. Look about the huge amount of involvement the Arenanet staff put into this event and be happy with the effort that was provided to give us a unique experience. Seriously, get some perspective, and relax.
The problem with making everyone happy is … that’s an impossible task, as people will always find something to complain about.
If I had to make a suggestion, it would be to have spread the loot out throughout the event instead of making it an all or nothing thing at the very end.
I didn’t get a pre-cursor, or even anything that could be used by the class I was playing outside of the backpack and the accessory, but so what? The point of live events is supposed to be the experience of being at the live event, the loot is secondary and not something you’ll even remember in a short time. Loot is nice, but it’s not the end all be all of playing a game, a fact a lot of people seem to have forgotten from gw1 to gw2 sadly. Does it suck if you had a dc or whatever and missed a roll? Yea, it does, but life goes on, it’s happened to all of us at one point or another. Just relax, enjoy the game, and enjoy that you participated in a game history changing event.
It would be helpful to have those zones completed be shown in a different color, so as to easier tell which ones you need to work on still.
Going to make a guess you are exaggerating a bit on 700 hours :p
That said, yea the loot seemed pretty … non-exciting. Also a bit weird passion fruit can’t be stored in the crafting materials.
Ivanov, while the Deep Strike trait does indeed only give 40 precision, depending on your signet choice, those have stat benefits as well. Signet of Fury provides a bonus of 90 precision at level 80. 160+90 = … 250
You normally are not going to find super optimum elite players pugging, and most are going to be more familiar with what it took for them to do well solo then what skills will be better for them in a group. Even if they equip the skills you suggest, they won’t be familiar or used to using them in that setting, as it’s not something they normally do.
If you don’t like that sort of player, well, not sure what you were expecting from a pug oO. Most dungeons can be done just find with any array of players, as long as they don’t over-aggro, know how to dodge and kite, and for the most part just pay attention. Adapt to the situation, expecting picture perfect dungeon runs is a bit silly and unrealistic, especially from pugs.
