GW2 runs video cards much hotter than many other games, even games that are more taxing. I don’t think anyone has figured out why. Some cards default fan settings just aren’t sufficient. They need to ramp up earlier. Get an overclocking program and turn up the idle and low demand fan speeds. If you are overclocking and getting errors, turn the power back to default.

I did compare the maps. I have 100% map completion (and the achievement). I was at 169/172. I did Griffonrook and found I didn’t have Tail of the Serpent in Timberline Falls. I am still missing one, 171/172.
Last piece, Ulukk’s Hunger in Dredgehaunt Cliffs.

You also get some different skins from doing the personal quest. The skins aren’t unique but are pretty rare on lower level items.

Flipping to me is buying underpriced items and selling them for fair market value. Market manipulation is using limited supply and excess gold to force the market value to go up. While flipping can slow the decline of market value, it is a temporary situation. If supply exceeds demand, prices will drop. People that practice flipping usually want quick sales and low stock. Manipulation is a long term control of prices and stock levels.

While I agree with Wreave overall, the Clocktower had a couple really difficult jumps right in the beginning. This made learning them a little easier as you didn’t have to get far to get to them, but it discouraged some people. Also, the timing was a little fast in a couple parts, also near the beginning.

3d geometry in a 2d computer doesn’t always translate well, so things like running up stairs isn’t always fluid. Some places that look like you should be able to run through easily you get caught on.

I like the scaling and downleveling system. I like leveling although it’s a bit fast for my playstyle. I do wish the downleveling happened when you attacked, not just being in the zone. Being able to run through areas without worrying about dying if you didn’t fight back would be nice. Put a timer on it for like 15 minutes after attacking something you stayed lower level.

Uhm..well to be fair the event rewards actually do not pay for teleporting or repairing costs.

I made a suggestion that teleporting around a zone (not between zones) charged you at the highest level of the zone, rather than at your current level. This would make helping friends a little easier. If you aren’t making money helping friends just from doing events and selling loot, you’re doing something wrong though. Try running for 2 minutes instead of teleporting everywhere. Each level 70+ green is almost 2s. I make money easily from exploring/helping without even selling any greens, they all go into the guild bank. That’s even if you don’t manage to get a rare/exotic that sells well on the trader. I also suggested making short distance travel a little cheaper, and long distance a little more.

I only die on my 80 ranger for 2 reasons (outside of pvp), stupidity or champions.

There are a couple places that the scaling is wrong…either too high or low. Doing a level 13 skill point in Ashford with a level 10 capped level is difficult. I try to bug each one.

I don’t want to change the keybind as I play many different classes. I am used to where the key is and what it does. On elementalist and engineer, it just doesn’t do anything as their alternate weapon skills are f1-f4. I’m not sure how difficult a change this would be without screwing up other classes though.

Solution to your very important problem:

1) RANDOMLY get rares from Orr or farming zone of your choice
2) Insert rares into Mystic Forge, RANDOMLY get precursor
3) Come back here and tell us you like randomness

I know you can get exotics from rares, but it is possible to get precursors too? I wasn’t sure. The info on legendaries is sporadic. What level items can you combine and get level 80 results?

Could you let the ` key (switch weapons keybind) toggle last attunement or rotate attunements? I find it annoying when I switch characters and the ` key does nothing.

Yes, Halloween should be over tomorrow in it’s entirely. No Thanksgiving or anything like that. As for what’s next, you’ll have to wait and see.

Any idea what time today this ends? Earlier it was said noon PDT, but that’s come and gone.

I really liked the tower. I’m ok at JPs, have completed most of them. I am not very good at the timed ones. I did not like Loreclaw at all, insta-death turns me off. Please leave puzzles as part of events and don’t make them too easy.

I do think the acid could of been tamed just a little in the beginning as too many people “died” at the cube jump. It’s a race to that point, after that you have more breathing room. There were a few obstacles that were kinda picky on how you jumped over them, that didn’t help either and if you had to jump 2 or 3 times over one you’d fail. The 5 days of availability is much to short too. Give people 2-3 weeks to do holiday activities.

It did take me hours to complete over 3 sessions, but all in all a good puzzle with a proper reward. Looking forward to the game wide loot upgrade.

Make sure you turn off superscaler if you have a 1080p or higher resolution. It cuts FPS in half or more.

Also the pumpkins for the carving event are not resetting making it harder to get to 150…

The pumpkins respawning is actually the bug. There are well over 150 pumpkins to be found if you want to do it all on one character. If you don’t, alts work too.

I wouldn’t give a company that advertises doing illegal activities access to my name, address and credit card number. Not only could they max out that card, it’s 3/4 of what they need to hack my identity and seriously hurt my credit rating.

As for the 140g cost…I saw someone offering 1 of the exotics for 70g BEFORE the dungeon opened. I was amazed to see it.

As for crafting in GW2, I gave up any ideas that it was salvageable and I love being a crafter.

Arachnophobia, which is what I had planned to make over the next few months, has 42 available on the TP for as low as 26g.

They categorize the software/drivers that runs these as 3rd party programs and they are. I have a G15 keyboard and I have to run the macro program if I want to use the G keys as anything but F keys. I rarely have it running, I find little in GW2 that I would even try to macro with it. ANYTHING that allows you to do more than 1 command per keystroke is against the EULA.

I noticed the updated OP no longer includes the issue where a player’s greatest fear choice is mismatched in the Battle for Fort Trinity and onwards.

I still have Liberating Apatia when I should have the one about Engineer Tonn.

Is a fix for this still in the pipeline, or should I give up and just do the quest?

I’m not a programmer, so I can’t speak to the specific of the system, but it’s been made clear to me that there are no differentiating “artifacts” in the currently affected players’ character data. In other words, while we would reset players if it were possible, we cannot make any further retroactive fixes.

As Jeffrey stated, we’re come to a point where we want to make this clear so that players who have been waiting for a retroactive fix know what the status of this issue is. Thank you for your understanding on this matter.

Human beings have a hard time with repeatedly hitting near-exact timings. Macro/Programmable keyboards do not.

I would argue that in a game focused around the skill of the player, using macros makes you a tool…but Anet doesn’t say macro keyboards are illegal or violate the EULA.

Long story short, if you don’t use macros, you probably didn’t pull this off too often.

Anet has said that anything that changes how you interact with the game is illegal and bannable. This includes anything that lets you do more than 1 action per keystroke.

The lack of PvP items for Confusion builds.

There are 2 or 3 places(Lornar’s Pass) that the buckets just don’t work. Mostly though I’m too close and a step back works.

This is a big problem in WvW. Defending a tower or keep you have jump up onto the wall to hit targets. This makes you prone to getting pulled off the keep (which is bugged that it can pull you even if you aren’t on the wall sometimes).

Invulnerability usually happens if you pull the mob too far, which can happen easily if you kite. There may be other issues with it, but I rarely run into any.

Please change Buy Orders to forbid pricing lower than NPC price...

I know what spvp is. What does a tournament consist of? From the rewards it looks like 8 teams. How many matches do you fight before getting a reward (assuming you win)?

Any plans to add these features? - Would be a HUGE improvement.

The usable by class/level/race option would be nice, but just an option to sort light/medium/heavy armor would be a huge improvement.

Gold seems so much rarer than silver. A possible solution would be to change 36-40 areas from silver to gold nodes. This would also allow gold to be mined to be prepared for making level 40 jewelry rather than having to find 40+ zones before you have a chance to find it.

A bug I have noticed with gold mines also is that they don’t seem to have gems. Not sure if this is intentional, but I don’t remember ever getting a gem or bonus / double resource from a gold node. I get them from silver and platinum though, even using master/black lion mining picks.

Why do harpoon guns come with sigils of ogre slaying? Not only are ogres not in water, but I don’t think you can even lure them into water.

I agree that they did not make food effects strog enough. The 30 minute duration is pretty bad too. There should be stronger foods that last longer. Perhaps a chance during crafting of creating a high quality version of the food that last longer and does more would be better.

Some of the high end foods have very nice stats. +100 to 2 stats etc. The 30 minute is fine with me but a rare version using 3x mats (or more, but not like dyes) with a 2 hour duration would be cool. They could even be karma vendors like other classes have.

I understand the mobs dropping random level items. Although not pleased with it, I have yet to receive a level 80 rare let alone exotic drop, this is a quest reward. I haven’t really noticed below 74 level items in WvW since I’ve been 80 but I don’t even look at blues and whites anymore.

The % of toughness based foods are substantially less potent at the lower levels than the fixed stat foods. I know 10% of 1500 for a high level is pretty good. But the level 15 is 2% of 200 or 300, so 4-6 stat points. Similar level foods have 10. They get worse before they get better unless you stack only toughness and there are several varieties of each at every tier. The same is true for the damage potions. 2% of someone hitting for 40 isn’t even 1 damage. I think leaving the high end potions and foods as they are, but change the lower level ones to add 5 damage or 10 stats or something like that.

This is also related to sigils/runes with s on them. +5 cripple duration applied to a 4s cripple is .12s increase, very not worth it.

Completing the level 75-80 and level 80 zones 100% gives items that are level 76 and 78. If I’m 80 doing level 80 content, I expect level 80 rewards.

Which means that people would be exploring, not camping one event.

As an explorer I like the idea but even 100% MR boost would still have a lower chance of getting good items than mass killing mobs. Exploring and killing 100 mobs vs killing 500 in mass events.

That’s the first mission on Claw island (retribution?). The first part about mobs spawning is working correctly I think, you aren’t there to repel the invaders. There are enough NPCs to keep the risen busy if you don’t get agro(and they’re invincible for most of the mission). A friend of mine reported the same issue with the trebuchet, although he never hit the ship, it sank.

Example- there is a buy order on the BTP right now for a yellow 1h mace for 1c. All this is doing is blocking buy orders from legitimate buyers.

How does this in any way effect legitimate buyers? They can buy items listed for sale, and they can put in higher buy orders. It doesn’t remove the item because a seller can’t sell at that rate anyway.

I see this complaint in every game. I always wonder, there are so many people that talk about wanting a group, why aren’t they grouping with each other? I’ve never determined what the barrier is that prevents them from grouping with each other. I think really it is just hard to find like-minded people. They are out there, it is the finding part that is difficult.

This is exactly the reason I’d like to find a group centric game. Finding other group focused gamers in a sea of solo’ers is hard, especially with zone barriers.

Path of least resistance
Without benefits to grouping, most people won’t do it, and many just ignore chat channels (as some here have stated). This was a huge issue for me in LOTRO. There was usually a group quest at the end of each chain. You’d spend 30 minutes LFG to do a 5 minute quest then everyone would scatter. Even with the chain from the next area needing a group also. If someone was a step behind, too bad, don’t help him catch up. The DE system here does help this dramatically, but groups rarely move from event to event with any organization. Groups help focus people into getting everyone ahead. The loot and gathering system helps too as people don’t compete for drops, but not very often do people offer items to those that can use it, like can happen in WoW with people volunteering to pass (they also need on stuff they don’t need, but good and bad).

Given that the chances of getting loot depend on the damage that you dealt it’s entirely viable for someone who does mostly single target damage to split up a group of mobs so he has more chance of getting credit for each of them.

Are you saying that doing more damage gives a better chance of looting? I know you have to tag each one but each class has at least a couple AE options.

I prefer to run in a group. I don’t mind having to wait for others to keep up. I do sometimes get irked when they don’t wait for me. I find most tasks are just safer and faster done with others and not having to look for help to kill a champion or get a rez is nice too. Fighting along side others in DEs is close, but when nobody says a word and everyone disappears the second it’s done, I don’t call that social.

No open world content requires grouping.
There is no reason to group, other than assembling for a dungeon run.

There are many places in the world that cooperation is more than just convenient, but downright necessary. Maybe you don’t need a group, but it can’t be done solo (at least for most professions).

Map chat I find useless. So many people turn it off outside the newbie zones it’s completely dead. When I do talk there, I rarely get a response, let alone an answer to a question. I will admit it’s in another tab for me so I don’t see it all the time, but I do respond when I can. Ask for a group or partner to do hearts and DEs with? Might as well be speaking in a foreign language.

I am hoping that someday a dev will release a group centric MMO like EQ of old. Not that it punishes solo/casual players, but give substantial benefits to grouping besides social and faster killing.

How did you lose gold? If you mistakenly put multiple buy orders for the same item, you can either cancel the orders or sell the extra items. You will lose the sales tax if you have to resell them (if you don’t mark them up making a profit). I don’t see how that’s Anet’s fault. If there was an actual glitch that stole your money, I don’t think that’s what’s being discussed here nor have I read a dev post about that kind of glitch.

Edit: Decided to post this in here due to the reply of the dev saying that the incorrect listing was due to the maintenance and felt this was also an issue created during that time.

I think you have the dev quote backwards, he’s saying it was NOT a result of the patch but noticed at the same time.

Hard and tough Shadow Imps

But the problem is that the game has feedback mechanisms to tell whether a mob is tougher than other mobs, the Vet/Champion tags, and Imps fail too use these properly. The only way to tell that a Shadow Imp will two-shot you within seconds is to get two-shotted by one within seconds.

Champ/Vet tags have more to do with the armor/hp of mobs than the damage they do. I’ve run across many vet and a few champs that didn’t hit hard at all as well as ones that one shot you with specials if you don’t dodge(Ettins). Shadow Imps are definitely not veteran difficulty. Also, not all special attacks telegraph a red circle to dodge, often they use custom animations that aren’t always easily noticed, especially in a crowd. Unfortunately, the way you learn those animations is usually getting clobbered by one.

I haven’t seen accurate results in the buy search window in a while. It has been out of date for weeks(always?). I have gotten used to clicking through to the buy screen and looking at the number for sale. It also sometimes shows non for sale, when there are many for sale, this makes sorting/filtering hard, if the none for sale filter even works now (didnt last week). Also, the refresh button doesn’t work for buy or buy orders. The only refresh you get is if you buy 1, or place a buy order. The number listed for sale in search is the number at the lowest offer, but if you open the buy order, then back to search it gives the total for sale. It’d be nice if the seller window had a second line showing total for sale, as well as number for sale at lowest price.
