Hey guys. Here’s what I think would be an awesome specialization for thief. Axe.
Now I know that Axe is not the first weapon that comes to mind when thinking of any sort of thief/assassin/sneaky class but after talking to a friend, I really got hooked on this idea: The shadow berserker.
The shadow berserker is a merciless fighter. He uses his brutal axe attacks and the dark arts of shadows to strike fear in the hearts of his enemies. At first his attacks seem pretty slow but the longer he fights the more relentless he gets dismembering his enemies in the blink of an eye.
U’ll notice a new condition: deep wound. It was a condition in Guild Wars. I think it would be a great addition to Guild Wars 2. It basically reduces the maximum hp of your enemy by 20% for a certain amount of time.

It kinda sounds good I think. Or maybe I just got it wrong.
Doesn’t “BP no longer interrupts your own skills” mean, that it won’t interrupt your aa chain and thus avoiding the slight aftercast u get while auto attacking? So by using BP during ur aa chain u gain stealth, aa instantly changes to stealth ability (backstab in ur case) which will hit ur enemy as if it was a skill in ur reguall aa chain.
If that’s the case the scenario u described would look more like this:
U run behind ur enemy and aa, then press BP and hit him with an instant Backstab (assuming u keep aaing).

In the last few months I’ve heard and read many complaints about how on crit sigils work. They leave no opportunity to react or counterplay as they are an instant activation on a critical hit.
Many ppl say that sigil combos like air+fire are broken and need to go as they increase the random damage to an absurd amount while leaving no conterplay. In most cases I don’t think the added benefits from such sigils isn’t over the top but I do agree that the “no counterplay” part is a big problem.
My idea aims to leave sigils effects the way they are now but add a possibility to counterplay.
Balance proposal: (I’ll use sigil of fire as an example)
- The sigil still instantly activates on crit but instead of intantly dealing damage a small icon appears over the head of the hit player.
After 1 second the icon disappears and the player gets hit by the sigils effect.
This “delayed” activation would give players an opportunity to dodge the effect.
So the sigils still have the same damage potential but the hit enemy can actually react and avoid the damage.
The same principle would work for every “on crit” activated ability (such as incendiary power, chill of death, dhuum fire.. and so on).
Tell me what u think.

Mesmer shatters:
1 – deals high dmg
2 – applies 1 stack confusion
3 – daze
4 – 5 stacks vulnerability
5 – evade all attacks for 1 sec
6 – interrupt with f3 applies 3 stacks vulnerability
7 – every shatter applies 1 stack vulnerability
8 – every shatter applies 1 stack confusion
9 – f2 grants 5 sec retaliation
10 – instant recharge all shatters at 50% hp
11 – shattering illusions grants might
12 – shattering illusions creates the shatter effect on you as well
13 – every shatter skill is aoe
14 – when midwrack/cry crits, you get vigor
15 – mindwrack deals 20% more dmg
16 – every shatter removes a boon on hit
17 – every shatter is instant cast
18 – shatter recharge reduced by 30%
19 – shatter effects get stronger for every illusion shattered
20 – can be activated from long range

Yes, your shatters are just as strong as steal. My point is.. yes u get extremely strong skills if u heavily trait into the corresponding trait lines.
I felt the same way about short bow at first. Now it’s my favourite weapon. Every skill is extremely useful if you know how to use it. Here are a few suggestions how to use the skills u don’t like:

- use clusterbomb on a immobilized target (immob using your stealth skill or/and basilisk venom) . Detonate it before it hits the ground. This is a great single target burst that really deals lots of dmg (especially if combined with air and fire sigils).
- use it in team fights on your poison fields for aoe weakness. Very powerful.

- Use it in team fights combined with cluster bomb for aoe weakness
- Use it on downed enemies to reduce revive speed.
- Use it against warriors to weaken their healing signet (vs a warrior u really want to have perma poison on him)
5:
- Insane mobility. This skill is one of the most important skills for a thief in pvp. Used right (teleporting up edges and so on.. there are many tutorial videos for this skill)
- There’s a trick where you can use this skill for a port stomp.
As I said, I really love the sb on thief and used right it is a very good and versatile weapon.

I have this camera issue that I really need to fix, so help would be greatly appreciated
It’s so extremely annoying while playing pvp..
The problem:
When I lock my camera movement to the character movement (= moving the cam also moves the char) by pressing right click, it just doesn’t work quite often. The mouse basically releases itself and the camera turn stops working even though I still press my mouse button.
What’s up with that? Is it a game issue or a mouse issue? How can I fix it?
Highest possible burst
(I realize that this will never actually happen, but the question was “What’s the highest possible burst”)That’s exactly the kind of burst I was looking for – I want the highest theoretical burst, not a feasible one
There is a one second delay between swapping attunements though, so both of your rotations go beyond the one second limit, and since we started with a ½ second limit I’d rather not increase it beyond that.
Ok, if feasibility doesn’t matter then this is what you are looking for
(same build as before)
Burst: This is done in less than 1 sec, with good timing its like 1 hit
- Precast Dragon’s tooth (rest of the burst happens when it hits)
- precast phoenix behind your enemy, lightnigh flash in front of enemy (this makes phoenix hit 3 times), switch to air
- air 2, arane wave+ blast + rtl
- dual sigil proc
Dmg: assuming everything crits
~ 27000
(this is again without the ridiculous dmg multipliers you get with this build.. taking those into account, we’d be looking at smth over 30k)

Build: Fresh air s/d full berserker with bufffood and strengh runes
- stack 15 stack might (quite easy to achieve)
Burst: (on a 2200 armor enemy)
Hurl, precast earthquake, lightnigh flash to enemy, arcane blast, arcane wave, switch to air, air 2, updraft, switch to fire, dragon’s tooth, phoenix behind enemy, firegrab, switch to air
aand sigil of air and fire proc.
Total dmg: ~ 43000

this damage is without the damage multipliers of the build:
+ 10% vital striking
+ 10% air training
+ 10% stone splinters
+ 10% enduring damage
+ 7% strenght runes
(+ 20% bolt to the heart)

- the closest thing to a 1sec burst, that just hits a LOT harder than the earthquake burst would be this:
knockdown, phoenix, lightning flash dualarcana, air switch + air 2 + dual sigil proc
(phoenix hits SOOO hard if u get a tripple crit)

Here’s the problem about condis vs direct damage:
- A direct damage burst build will need 3 different stats to deal good burst and sustain damage: Percision (for a higher crit rate), ferocity (for higher crits) and power (for more damage)
- Direct damage further takes armor/toughness in account (Damage done = (Weapon strength) * Power * (skill-specific coefficient) / (target’s Armor)).

Now, a condition damage build will need the following stats for its condition to be effective: Condition damage and condition duration
Conditions are usually really easy to apply and the difference to direct damage is that they deal damage after you hit your enemy. You can’t dodge the conditions… ye sure you can remove the conditions.. but some builds are able to apply such an amount of conditions that even good condi cleanse isn’t nearly enough.

- Condition builds only take 2 offensive stats in accout to be strong where as power builds are affected by 4 stats (power, precision, ferocity, enemy toughness). This gives condition speccs a huge advantage as they can build more defensively why still dealing high damage.
- Conditons deal passive damage but almost match direct damage in some cases which is a problem as they are easier to apply than direct damage and for some builds harder to avoid too
-> now what I think is neccessary, is an additonal stat or an additon to an existing stat.
“Toughness agains condition damage”
Healing power seems like a possibilty to get such an addition.
So you have copied Sizers build. GZ.
I dont even know whos sizer is lol and i play this rune of str. With 3 diff build 2/6/0/6/0 or 2/0/0/6/6 or 2/3/0/3/6 all with power of inertia

100% crit on eviscerate.. And u get: a tank that deals thief like burst damage…
Why do you feel custom arenas do not work for those that want to duel?
In some ways the custom arenas (angz for exaple) are an good option for duels, but still there are a few things that really are very annoying:
- The servers often are full, as there are very few good 1v1 servers
- To actually join a match, u have to wait until the current game is over and a soon as it’s over, you have to be the first/quickest to click the “join” button. This either results in people beating up their mouse or dowloading autoclick programs.
If I wanna play a 1v1 I don’t wanna first fight 18 other players for a spot.
- PPl using stuff they’re not supposed to use/are against server rules.
- PPl staying in the game for ever, making all the spectators wait for a very long time
I’d really love real 1v1 maps, with a queue system, a spec mode and really simple 1v1 rooms.

- bunker guard
- d/p burst thief
- shatter mesmer / gs mesmer
- power necro
as this is all meta too…

It’s the only thing that makes ele “sort of” viable.
You ban this while still allowing things like: Shatter mesmer, backstab thief.

You could also just say: ban ele.
build is quite good BUT
you’ll get oneshot by anything sneezing your way.

While I agree that some of the skills need rework, I think most of you really really underestimate the focus.
I’m a rank 50 tpvp ele. I’m running a full zerker fresh air build s/f and I am really successful with it.
The focus allows me to actually engage in a real fight without dying when an enemy sneezes my way while still having unbelievable burst damage.
Now why do I think the focus isn’t as bad as u think:
On a regular class you get 4 skills from your offhand.
Which skills are fine on ele focus?
- Air 4 (could use some utility buff, like swiftness)
- Air 5 (could use a slight cd reduction)
- Earth 4: This skill is soooooo amazing… decent aoe dmg, cripple, 3 condis remove, projectile reflection aaaand blast finisher. just amazing
- Earth 5: … So strong. leave it as it is. it’s perfect.
Those are 4 good skills. Those skills make focus worth using. trust me!
The rest of the skills really need some rework (fire cough)… but some of the things you suggest are just crazy and would make the focus an op weapon.

Elementalist
Summary: Elementalist, as the class currently in need of the most help, is being targeted in two critical areas: sustain and mobility. Signet of Restoration was restored to previous levels, and Ether Renewal was improved. Ride the Lightning’s cooldown was lowered to add back more out-of-combat mobility. In addition, several skills on the Focus were either improved or made more easy to use. Lightning Strike (scepter air #2) was made to no longer be instant, to reduce some of the instant spike possible in the Fresh Air build, and Diamond Skin was redesigned.
Dragon’s Tooth — Now uses ground targeting.
Lightning Strike — Added a 0.25 second casting time.
Fire Shield — The cooldown was reduced to 30 seconds.
Freezing Gust — Now a piercing projectile attack, similar to Dust Devil.
Comet — The casting time has been reduced to 0.5 seconds, down from 0.75 seconds. It now uses ground targeting.
Gale — The casting time has been reduced to 0.5 seconds, down from 0.75 seconds.
Dragon’ s thoot: Making this skill use ground targeting would just slow it down. Better reduce the cast time, or just make it instant.
Lightning strike: This would completely destroy every fresh air build. The instant cast time is absolutely neccessary to keep the burst potential at the lvl it is. Taking it away would slow the fresh air bursts so much down making the build completely unviable as it really relies on the quick air bursts.
Fire shield: No. This skill is really really bad. It needs complete rework and not just a cd reduction.
Here are my suggestions on ele focus skills:
Fire
4: Searing Wall:
- Create a wall of flame and smoke at the target area that burns and blind foes.
- Burning: 1 s
- Blind: 1 s
- Duration: 4 s
- Combo Field: Fire, Smoke
- Range: 900
5: Fire Grip:
- Pull your target to you. Applies burn .
- Range: 900
- Burning: 8 s
Water:
4: Brain Freeze:
- Chill your foe for a brief time. Applies Confusion.
- Damage: 79
- Chilled: 3 s
- 5stacks Confusion: 3 s
- Range: 900
5: Glacial Armor:
- Grants retaliation and heals per cast
- 5 Retaliation: 8 s
- Healing per cast: 150
- Duration: 8 s
zerker fresh air ele can one shot everything exept a warrior… just sayin

I understand that ele seems worse than other classes sometimes but it’s really not that bad. Sure a few buffs would be awesome (focus fire cough)
But it really isn’t that bad. I play fresh air ele in tpvp and I win most of my fights and get a lot of messages like “U’re really good man” “GG to the ele” “Wow I’ve never been beaten by an ele before” “whats ur build” “most dmg i’ve ever seen”
Ele isn’t a class like necro where u can just spam ur auto attack and win a fight.
Fresh air ele is very very high risk vs very very high reward. Learn how to play ele (and I dont just mean how to “burst” combo, I mean how to rotate on the maps, which fights to engage and which to avoid) and you will see that it’s not that bad.

Ok, so by now most of you know the issue.
Ppl farm rank by playing on the skyhammer map on custom servers and gain rank points really fast. (up top 9k/hour) just to compare to regular rank gain… max 300 pts/round.. u’ll get 10 times as much by farming skyhammer in the same amount of time (without any effort)
This is a big deal. Many players still think that rank isn’t important but they’re very wrong. Rank is the only reward system pvp players get in this game. By achieving a high rank you get a cooler finisher, title and gear. Furhtermore rank is (or was) a sign of pvp expericence simply because high ranks take A LOT of time.
Now u could say that this is all not so bad… but really, u dont get it then.
Achieving rang 40 ist quite similar to getting 2-3 legendaries in pve. Regular players had to spend a very long time farming for 2 legendarie and so did the ppl in pvp at rank 40+
Now, players who just farm skyhammer get the same rank in a few weeks.
Imagine how pve players would feel like if suddenly every kitten had 2 legendaries within 2 weeks without ANY effort what so ever. Yea, great.
That’s what’s happening in pvp now.
Heck, some players spent a year playing pvp to achieve such a high rank and yes, they are proud of that as it shows their effort in this game.
This rank farm isn’t fair and needs to be removed NOW.
Please! Do something!!!

u destroyed the only viable burst build for this class!!! why on earth, why the hell would u nerf anything on engi????!!! It already was the weakest class but now they decided to nerf one of its most important traits.
I know I’m raging but I just get frustrated after a while when everything about my favourite class is getting nerfed. I might as well just switch to one of the other classes like ele, maybe pop some d/d action since anet felt the need to buff that even if it was op as heck already.

A key thin don’t be glass, if your worried about confusion its because your glass or not understanding when to use the skill.
alright, so let’s just compare it to other elites shall we. first skill that comes to mind is daggerstorm:
high damage, high bleeds, cripple, stability, projectile reflection, massive heal if used with the heal signet. CD: 90 sek.
whereas with elixir x ull get:
stability, cc, power (if brute). CD: 180 sek
→ so not only you do more damage, but your survivability is actually increased and the cool down is exactly half…
that’s why i think elixir x is weak.

have u ever seen what happens if 4 thieves jump into a zerg and use daggerstorm? yea, the zerg has quite a hard time surviving that.
Imagine 4 ingi jumped into a zerg using elixir x. Yea, the zerg has quite a hard time recovering form laughing at u.
tool belt seems just fine to me.
There are problems far more urgent to solve… for example reworking the elites…

Yea ele elites are bad.. (the tornado is btw the same as engi gets, but at least u know that’s what ull get if u use the skill, as for the engi it’s a chance.) but a d/d ele doesnt need an elite… its so ridiculously strong.

the 2 others need a complete rework.I completely disagree as a human engineer. Elixir X can and has been a huge lifesaver for me on multiple occasions. I have used it as a zerg buster in small quarters with either the Juggernaut and especially the Tornado spamming 1.
Avatar is a great thing to use if you are running through a zerg with 22 seconds of stability?
I also use Hounds of Balthazar on those rare 1v1 and 1v2 fights in wvw. The dogs leaping ability gives you more time to land a barrage at range not to mention will intimidate a 2v1.
Grenth is great if you are running through a zerg with the Toolkit shield out. Great combo if you have haste up
I agree the mortar is lacking. It should be 1800-2000 range, damage increased 200% and able to hit keeps. It should also have an unmanned ability @ 25% reduced damage.
Supply crate. IT can be useful, but I never use it. I know it has a 2 second stun and drops turrets but people just destroy them before anything can happen.
first of all, hounds and grenth and all the others are not to be considered here because this is about the engi elites.
elixir x: let’s say u see a zerg coming and wanna run through it (why on earth would u even try to do that), u’ll pop elixir x hoping for juggernaut but what happens is ull turn into the tornado. ur dead after 2 seconds. my point is: i wanna rely on an elite skill if i use it… (plus, you know, actualy be helpful)
EVERY profession needs more ELITES. Not just engineers. Guardians and Necro elites have it the worst

Guardian:
- Renewed Focus: can save u in many situations and can be really helpful if used right.
- Tome of courage: mass heal to 100%… nuff said. have u ever tried killing a guardian and his team while he’s using it? good luck with that.
- Tome of wrath: mass quickness, knockdown, burn, might/swiftness.. come on son, what else do u want?

- Plague: ever played a condi burst build? well u should try it… its very strong
- lich form: i’ve heard so much op flaming about this skill… and the damage u deal is great…
- Summon f. golem: yea, not that great.

Tyaen!, yeah I think I was the only person in WvW that used Elixir X till I showed Tyaen, but the skill is not bad. Yes, it is RNG, but I can make it work in any situation. So far i have face the dragons, zergs, Bosses, PvP players, etc.
Like last night i was with a guildie and camp jacking in wvw, he was in shock because of some of the thing i did, " Engineers never stop surprising me. If i didnt pick a guardian before before launch i would had been a engineer."
What I’m saying is be a better player make stuff work. Because the only way we will get to the top is to make hings happem
if u use elixir x in tpvp u’ll get laughed at… it’s true.
oh i tried, turst me… and i have quite some experience too.
i’m a rank 35 engi and i really dont think that being a bettter player can save those elites…
Again, how exactly can elixir be useful? it is an elite (an ELITE!!!) that either transforms u in a tornado (useless) or a juggernaut (uhm, even worse). U can’t use this skill in any situation because u don’t even know which of the two is gonna happen and I sure as hell won’t rely on an elite when i dont know what’s gonna happen if i use it!!
And the mortar… well, why woul i even consider using that when i can use grenades instead?? and if there was a situation u could actually use the mortar it will still be of no use because its destroyed after 3 hits!!
This is how the elites should look like imo:
- Supply crate: fine
- Elixir X: give boons to you and your team and/or condition remove. or a revive for nearby teammates…
- Mortar: lose the skill and add a “Sinper kit” (long distace/big damage like gs on mesmer or so)

guys, this build is really strong.
i’ve seen him beat rank 48 mesmers with this kitten and i’d love to see if u’d even had the slightest chance fighting him in a 1v1…
u could use the tool kit for more cc (cripple, huge pull) and additional defensive options.
and if ur worried about the condi remove just use the med kit!
Is ‘the hunter’ a PVP rifle? Does that mean you can’t get it by combining exotic level 80 rifles in the mystic forge in LA?
What are the paid tokens and slivers?

The hunter is a pve rifle (so u can get it by combining exotic’s). BUT
In pvp the rifle is called “steal plated sniper rilfe” (it has the same skin as the hunter)
To craft it u have to use the pvp mystic forge. to craft it u’ll need: Arcane powder, paid turnament token (gained by playing paid turnaments), Arcane sliver, item token.

In pve its called “the hunter” (precursor).
I crafted it in the pvp mystic forge.
