If your GPU is hitting 80c’s under full load, your TIM or the Heatpipe needs to be replaced.
The Thermal Paste (TIM) Wears out and dries up over time (2.5years in my experience) and should be replaced about that often. As well as physically removing the dust ball build up in your Heatpipe Fins.
Now, its rare but happens, a heatpipe’s closed welding will burst. Making the pipe ineffective. And that must be replaced when that happens. Heatpipes are all sealed with a liquid inside. And that Liquid goes from Solid(moves heat away from the CPU/GPU) to Gas/Vapor (reforms As solid to drop the temp) and this process is happening ALOT. And if the Temps in the Heatpipe go above a threshold, the End can burst releasing that Gas. I see this happen when a GPU/CPU sit at 80-90c for a long (Days) period of time.
If you dedust your Laptop, replace the TIM (IC-Diamond7 is the best for laptops IMHO) and the heat issue persists. then order a new heatsink from ebay or your Manufacturer.
But even when I OC my laptop, and the CPU sits at 78-83c’s while playing GW2, my GPU doesnt go above 72c’s. and that’s full load at 60fps~ in MOST areas.
Uuuuh okay… I don’t really dare to put any stuff into my laptop, so I guess I’ll have to give it to some repair service. Uuuuh that sucks… but your explanation makes sense, the laptop is 3 years old and none of the parts have been replaced until now.
Thanks again! Yeah I guess I’ll have to open it up, uggghhh… will write an email to ASUS first, maybe they can help (but I doubt it).
I mean it’s true, the GPU should reach 80c when only under 65% load, right? :/ Meeeeeh! My laptop actually had same GPU, it will to 80c under 100% load even IF its dust free, is your laptop Asus K53SV Or similar? I got guide for that which i got from Asus support.
Wow okay, yes, I have a X53SV which is basically the same model. I’m just back from disassembling my laptop, there was barely any dust in it, so that can’t be it. If you could send me that guide, that would be amazing!

Hmm, okay, warranty’s off already, but I googled more and found a post that said underclocking the GPU would help. I underclocked it for about 130 MHz and now when running around my GPU got only up to 80c. The regular FPS drop hasn’t occured again either. I’ll see how it works in WvW when in a zerg clash, but so far it seems the problem’s solved. Thank you, locx, anyway!
Thanks, locx!
I’ve already downloaded the most recent drivers, windows itself is also up to date.
I noticed yesterday that the game does stutter less when I play in subsample, but that just looks awful and afaik my rig should be able to play it at medium settings…
anyway here are some screenshots, do they give a hint concerning what my problem is?
First one is while updating, second one on city loading screen, third one standing around in Rata Sum, and last one taken when I discovered a new waypoint in Caledon. The GPU’s getting pretty hot imo, but there’s not much I can do… already playing with a cooler, as I said :/

Hi everyone,
for some reason, my game never really runs smoothly. For example I ran around in Rata Sum (-1 floor), nobody else around, and most of the time my FPS are around 35 and then drop to 6-8 every 2 seconds. It’s really like a breathing cycle or something; most of the time I get 35 in cities and then it drops to below 10, at a very steady rhythm.
I’ve tried setting everything to lowest settings but I still get those FPS drops. When I’m outside of the major cities, I get up to 60 FPS, but still with the drop to 6-8 every few seconds. It’s barely possible to do any jumping puzzles like this, and I don’t know what I can do…
here’s my system:
i5-2410M @ 2,3 GHz
RAM: 6 GB
nVidia GeForce GT540M 2GB (CUDA)
I’m also playing with a coolpad for my laptop, the built-in fans actally never have to go at full speed.
I’ve installed GW2 on D : instead of C: and still 100GB+ free space on D :…
Anyone got any ideas?

Hi,
the guys from [WvW] have asked us the [DTK] if we would GvG against them. I have replyed to that answere over forums PM but i have not gotten any respose to this day.
Someone here that could manage to bring me in contact with the [WvW] guys ?greez General
I’ll see what I can do!
Zumy this was not meant as “go play somewhere else”, but (and I did include that in the post ^^) as “yeah, there are different playstyles, no need to complain about it!”. Don’t jump to assumptions so fast! If i wanted to say “go to sPvP” I’d say that, but I said that you might look into it if you want smallscale fights. Didn’t know giving advice was considered a bomb.
(note: i myself enjoy doing the “smaller” things in WvW, but I don’t judge anyone for doing else. also, i don’t complain on the official forums about people doing 1vs1 in WvW or people zergin in WvW – because everyone may play WvW whichever way they’d like)
i guess OP never heard of GvG in WvW before…. yup it is normal in every match up….
Actually what I got from the OP was "Hey Anet, how can your game be called “GUILD wars”, but require guilds to go to WvW in order to have GvsG? There should be a feature so guilds can have GvsG without having to go to WvW!"
Well if people join up in zergs, let them! That’s WvW
If you want smallscale fights, you might want to have a look into sPvP :P Zerging can and will happen in WvW. People will run away, people will steamroll 1vs1 fights, might all happen, that’s different playstyles and that’s WvW!
Guys, just keep “on topic” and ignore anyone trying to needle If you feel offended, report, and otherwise ignore!
I’m very curious how it all will work out after the patch, only reason that keeps me from joining bigger fights atm is that I can’t even see my commander most of the time. At least the commander icon shows on the minimap… :P
Thanks for the score Trip!
Well let’s see if it turns in the next few days!
Supersini, give it a rest – no need to get personal yourself It’s understandable that there’s anger at RS, so I think it’s best if all of us just bear a bit with the seething and be calm ourselves! Tho’ I think what tlay meant was that HE lost the respect for Aurora Glade, I’m sure he can’t speak for all of Riverside.
Anyone have a recent score by the way?
Thank you for your words, Wamgor, I 100% agree with everything you said!
@Ghana: Yay for having a dog, makes you go outside and realise “ah, well, I can shut it off and not play for a week as soon as it annoys me”, hehe
Haha, thanks for you words, Scharlatan
Totally agree with you – after all it’s a game and everyone plays it the way they want to… I wouldn’t like RS teaming up with BB against us, either, but hey, it’s not forbidden! Everyone to his own.
I think mostly both AG and RS reacted a bit heavy concerning this “AG-BB” thing (haven’t noticed anything from BB personally), thus the mountain out of a molehill situation now… but just as you say: all’s “flauschig” (plushy?) now, let’s just play and have fun and live and let live!
I for one won’t try to stir up any hatred or rage against anyone… as shouldn’t anyone else. It’s just a game!
Just FYI, I think most of RS are pro-event, there was just some troll going “ah well, if my group goes that way and there’s a 5vs5, we’ll run them over anyway, i don’t care”.
Won’t participate myself, but wish you lots of fun anyway!
Hiya, would it be possible to have subcategories for WvW?
Such as
“Weekly match-ups”
“General”
“Suggestions”
…
Currently it’s a tad chaotic for my taste
We survived our mid-week boredom drama, we survived getting smashed by Gandara… yes, we’re still alive!
And we’re doing everything we can to get even better After spring clean-up and a minimised member count of 450 members, we’re now at 870 members! Very happy to see so many of us joined us!
786 members and almost 3000 posts, guys, you are amazing!
The conversion / move of the forum went well, we are still working on things, but the forums are up and running!
So happy over all the initiative all of our members have shown, it’s nice to know everyone is helping to make AG a great experience for its players
If you play on AG, head over to http://www.auroraglade.eu !
356 members, 201 threads and… 1,235 posts! All of this within just 3 weeks!
We are pretty amazed about how fast all of you, dear Gladians, took to this project that started off as an initative of a small group of people… what else can I say: I’m proud to be part of this server and I’m really thankful for such a nice community!
For the Glade!
In my opinion this is still jumping ship. You won’t make a server more populated by leaving it with hundreds of members. Just my 2cents, and I’m not even on GH…
Guilds should do whatever they can to ensure their members get the maximum amount of enjoyment out of the game. Unfortunately that can mean having to move servers. Loyalty isn’t given to hardware, it’s given to people, and surely those most deserving of loyalty are the members of one’s own guild.
This is a good point. However, I didn’t mean to accuse the leaders of KISS, but rather the members in general. You can’t blame the leaders of a guild.
The topic of changing servers raised in my own guild, too, when AG was down and empty; however, in a poll, our members decided they wanted to stay, to make the server come to victory again and not just choose the easier path. I understand the reasons behind this, believe me, I am just too idealistic of a person to agree with that way of solving problems
Yes I would, because I am not okay with it on principle. As I said, that’s just my opinion, it’s okay if YOU don’t think you’re jumping ship… anyway I do, no matter which guild it is or which server it is they’re going from/to.
I wish you best of luck in achieving your goal! You’ll see, you will learn to work together even better than those servers that are just zerging around. In the end your players will be much better WvW players because they have no choice than to adapt (or flee the sinking ship).
Best wishes from Aurora Glade, who had the same problem some time ago!

Hey guys,
I know ANet seems to not even read half of all those great suggestion on here anyway, but I still wanted to suggest a solution to all the spying issues WvW has to suffer from.
It would be a nice thing if we could see how often and when another player has changed servers in the past… That way it would be easier to at least know who the spies are and to refrain from telling them what the plan is (e.g. by switching to voice comms for important/sensitive information).
Don’t worry, we had the same situation a few weeks ago. However, proclaiming how many guilds leave etc doesn’t help. We managed to get people back together, fighting spirit came back… The few who stay will make the server a much better place in the end, because they are the ones truly loyal to it.
You can make it! We had some great fights against GH in the past and I’m sure it will be l ike this again.
A small update, we’re very proud and so happy to see a lot of new members registered on the forums already! We have had almost 40 registrations yesterday and still counting…
Just send me or Daenelia an ingame mail That way we want to try to prevent spies from other servers (I know, I know, they will find a way, if they really want, but at least we don’t want to make it easy for them :P).
Finally… we may have lost many fights and players, but we have not lost our fighting spirit!
After 3 months of work, desperation and a inhumane lack of time to play GW2, we finally finished work on the new Aurora Glade forums!
We waited long enough for an opportunity to coordinate on our server… now you get the chance! There are forums for general chitchat, PvE things, and naturally WvW.
There is also a global Aurora Glade alliance forming. If you’re member or leader of a guild you might be interested, as the members of this alliance are all laid back, professional AND ambitious players. Impossible, you think? Well, see for yourself…
We also offer a 200 slot mumble server; Aeraeni from [FURY] was kind enough to pay for it for now!
You will also find all the information about server-wide events on these forums, e.g. the WvW event that Skly from [UNTY] is organising at the moment!
Last but not least, guilds will have the opportunity to apply for a forum section on there – no need to set up your own forums anymore, we will host it for you on the AG forums and thus, make it easily accessible for all the players on Aurora glade!
We would be very happy to meet all the players from Aurora Glade on www.auroraglade.com(or alternatively www.auroraglade.eu)! So be it… let the communication begin!

It is an advantage.
The only thing that can hurt you are siege and aoe rings.
You cannot be hurt by projectiles.
Wrong… or well, partially wrong. You can be hit by Ranger’s “Barrage” as well, and by arrows and such things, too (at least if you stand ON the wall, where you can actually hit the enemies below).
I agree with the OP.
Seriously, that’s awesome XD Finally someone teaching those * campers a lesson
Honestly? I’m happy the new “once in 7 days” rule prevented another user from fleeing a sinking ship.
No offense, Bunzy, but I don’t think you should leave your server because activity is a little low, but rather work on re-activating people’s spirits
Hello everyone!
As some of you may know, Daenelia, JamesFnord and I of Thievery Corporation have been working a lot on our “official” Aurora Glade forums during the last few weeks. dsslive is working hand in hand with large guilds (such as Fury and Unity) so we can build a strong WvW alliance soon…
The forums for us are almost finished. For now, all we need is some beta-testers who are able to walk through the jungle of webdesign, wrong code and empty forums with a grim determination! Leaders of guilds on Aurora Glade are most welcome to test the forums themselves. Apart from that we offer 20 free public spots for betatesting. The beta phase starts tomorrow at 9 GMT and will last the whole weekend; then we’ll work on things, make things better and see when we can release.
Your help is needed! For a stronger community!
If you’re interested, send me a PM on here and I will give you the link. Please not that it is confidential for now!
ErlendR, don’t just do the pointy finger, but be a little constructive. What’s wrong about it? From personal experience, I can say that it IS possible to defend even a tower with just 5 people against 20+ people.
I totally agree with you two!
The main goal I had with this guide is to provide help to people who always thought “nah, WvW means PvP, I don’t like that”. It can be difficult to understand WvW in its entity, and while there are still loads of things you could give newcomers as a tip, I figured it’d be good to have a really basic guide so you’re not overwhelmed by information when you think about entering WvW for the first time
It’s for everyone, not just the professionals who have been there since the Beta. Everyone starts as a noob. And I’m more than glad to help new players
So excited for all the motivation and cooperation now! I’m proud to be a member of AG, and proud to have stayed with such a brave community instead of fleeing a “sinking” ship!
1.) The map
The map is sort of your most important tool in WvW. On the map, you can see where fights are going on (orange crossed swords) and where your commander(s) are going (blue icon). There are several towers and keeps on each map; if there are white crossed swords around a tower’s/keep’s icon, that means it is under attack by other players OR NPCs.
You can also see if there are any of your fellow server members near you (green dots).
2.) The Teamchat
If you haven’t set it up yet, do it now! You can set up the teamchat by adding a new tab in your chat window, then clicking on the small arrow next to “New Tab”, tick the box for “/team”. Teamchat is for tactical communication, such as “where is the fight at?”, “where do you need help?”, “Keep xyz is under attack”…. the mapchat (/map) is for general chitchat, such as “Wow, WvW is so much fun!” or “I’m looking for a guild” etc.
3.) The commander
First thing you should look for when entering WvW is: Where is our commander? Use the map. Ask in /team where you’re needed. You don’t always just have to follow a commander… believe me, every commander is thankful for people scouting the other towers and keeps for supply status or possible attackers.
4.) What’s a “good” commander?
This is difficult to answer. Generally speaking, a good commander is someone who communicates in the teamchat, tells the others where he’s going and what’s happening there, who fights in first line, but who also considers other people’s opinions and is willing to accept a change of plan if there is a better way to do things. A good commander will also not just run around and attack one point after another (this is considered karma/influence farming), but sticks with the things he conquered and defends them, or at least tells others to do so without splitting the forces too much. But after all, it’s still a personal thing whether you like someone or not…
5.) Supply
This topic is as old as GW2 itself (HAHA). Although so simple, many players fail to stick with this one rule: Never take supply from towers and keeps. Supply in towers and keeps is very limited and strongly depends on the supply caravans that reach the tower/keep. Supply in keeps and towers is always desperately needed if under attack and should not be wasted carelessly. Supply in supply camps is practically unlimited, so if you happen to capture or pass by a supply camp, always remember to take supply from there.
6.) Attack or defend?
This is an easy one. Keeping/defending things is always, always easier than attacking and capping new things. You can defend a well-upgraded keep against 20+ attackers with just 5 defenders. This counts for us defending our own stuff, but also for others defending theirs from our attacks. Before you attack something, first have a look at the map and see if the other keeps, camps and towers are more or less secure.
To conclude:
Generally speaking, there is just one simple rule you have to keep in mind when playing WvW. Follow, but don’t follow blindly. Commanders are sadly not always the better tacticians, only the richer. Don’t let yourself be misguided by a fancy blue icon, but always remember to question if the commander’s orders are actually making any sense.
Over and out!
Agreed, it would be way better if you were only able to transfer once a MONTH. Makes it impossible to foresee the next match, and makes it impossible to sabotage other servers.
Although I have to admit that it’s a good thing they extented the “cooldown” of server transfers to 7 days…
Haha THANK YOU!
Yeah sorry I couldn’t do more within the last two weeks… didn’t have internet through all of september, you know :P Anyway, no OT here! Psssh!
Depending on when this event goes live, the new website will probably be there already! So we’ll have enough space to plan it through, ask questions and stuff… I’m really looking forward to it, anyway!
can’t get in myself right now, although i did a few days ago. weird.
loading times are rather long for me in general…
With no word did I mention this would be a punishment Also I don’t understand how fighting against small groups of NPCs and easily taking whole MAPS while the rest of the world is asleep is any fun. Personally, I like challenge. I really seldomly run with the zerg, and if I happen to join one, it’s only so I know where it is and where it’s headed; just to leave it behind again and give them status reports on other things, or to do other tactical stuff, watch their back, etc.
If there are more NPCs, it should be per player, meaning if there are 10 reds online but only 4 blues, then a tower should have 6 blue NPCs added.
Also those NPCs shouldn’t be easy kills but rather enemies with a high AI, maybe even working in groups, healing themselves more, etc.
As I said… I don’t see how “total world domination” is any fun. And thus, I see this idea rather as a GOOD thing, so the dominating servers have some fun again and don’t always just smash every single invader who actually just wants to kill some rabbits for his bunnykiller title…
Hey there,
The only time I’ve seen people talk something else but english was during the BWEs and directly after launch… now I don’t see anyone anymore Haven’t even read one french word in the chat! Oh and I’m on Aurora Glade.
Oh Thuggery, didn’t know you were the leader of UNTY ^^ (just followed you a few days ago as you were being commander)
BTT:
I’m the leader of a rather small guild (Thievery Corporation [iSpy]) myself, and just a few days ago the topic “should we change the server?” came up. I hate how WvW works atm. It’s hopeless, and it’s frustrating to hop on on Saturday morning, eager to play the new match, just to see you’re 30,000 points behind the winning server.
Nevertheless, we decided to stick with it. I don’t want to sound hostile, but I am really kitten by all those… cowards just fleeing the server because some other server is better. I don’t see why next to nobody feels like actually fighting for a better WvW community. I don’t see why still so many people don’t use team and/or map chat.
Just hopping on another server won’t solve this problem. We have to stick with Aurora Glade, and we have to work on it and on the members’ attitudes. We need communication.
I just wanted to point out that there is an Aurora Glade community (www.auroraglade.com) slowly establishing. We are currently working on a new website because the old one sucks big time; in about a month’s time we will be done. Also everyone who wants to help build the new website is more than welcome (currently we’re 3-4 people working on it).
I’d like everybody to consider joining the website… we need a more stable community. I believe most players don’t use the chat in WvW because they don’t know how to, or because they don’t dare to or simply because they don’t know how important communicating is. Because they don’t think they can make a difference… but wow, I can’t remember how often that ONE player sticking with a just conquered keep/tower saved it from being retaken a few minutes after because he told everyone when it was being attacked.
I just hope more guilds will stick to Aurora Glade, like Unity and Thievery Corporation do. This ship is not sinking yet…
Thumbs up @Alverad!
Iare, I don’t think it’s reasonable to imply mean things to anyone in this discussion. Even if Miller’s Sound is our enemy WvW-wise, we are ALL GW2 players. So mean thoughts aside: Miller’s Sound and everyone who’s playing there has to keep an eye open for bots. Or even better: don’t use them themselves.
I must admit I haven’t really played WvW since last saturday.
Because when I logged on… whoa, surprise!
Miller’s Sound: 30,000 sth
Aurora Glade: 6,000 sth
Ring Of Fire: 5,000 sth
It is possible that you guys were fighting the whole night. Although I don’t get how nightcapping stuff is any honorable or fun, okay, at least it legitimate. But now that I read about many german players using BOTS to nightcap, I am very happy I am not playing this match.
Don’t get me wrong, I am german myself (playing on Aurora Glade tho’). But seeing it actually is of no use to fight against you guys… no thanks. Having the outmanned-bonus on all the time is no fun. And it’s also no fun to fight bots…
