Action Camera Bug

Slayrix.5789

Not sure if anybody else has noticed this or not. There is a bug currently existing in action camera when using a move like Phase Travel which normally travels 1200 units towards a target even if out of combat range( Essentially if an enemy was 2000 range away and targeted phase travel will take you 1200 units towards said enemy regardless of distance between) However, action camera because of its limitation in targeting will only allow you to use phase travel at 1200 range.

So what's thoughts on d/d 0/10/10/20/30?

I’ve been looking into this build myself and it does bring some interesting stats to the table.
I’ve made sort of a demo build for testing if I were to think this was a viable area (obviously i’ve based this build on dapheonix’s former) I honestly don’t expect it to be perfect but there are some nice stats involved.

http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/elementalist/?1.0|8.1c.h4.8.1c.h1h|0.0.0.0.0.0|1n.9d.1n.9d.1n.71g.1n.71g.1n.71h.1n.71h|3u.0.3u.0.31l.0.21k.0.31l.0.3s.0|0.a1.a6.k58.u56b|1b.o|1l.0.0.0.0|e

Overall you’ll have about.

  • 2800 attack
  • 25% critical chance (basically 45% because of zephyrs)
  • 2800 armor
  • Around 450-500 healing power
  • 60% boon duration (most bunker builds are used to this stat)

The interesting thing about this stat setup is it kinda puts itself in a nice spot. If you ask people for the most part will say having over 3000 armor is actually sort of waste as the scaling starts to drop. While at the same having above 3000 attack is actually considered (by some) to be a dps based build which is possible if you gain full bloodlust stacks and food buffs (not to mention might stacking) you could probably reach around 3000-3200 attack.

But this build isn’t perfect, its missing some critical parts.
For instance it has very low critical damage (only 15%) and fairly low vitality (only 16k) and with only some moderate healing power (compared to the more tankier ele builds).
So obviously using it with something like ether renewal (which has very low healing power scaling) might be necessity.

If you WvW zerging I imagine this could do some hefty damage especially if your fond of using a staff like myself (think of using like a zerker staff with sigil of battle) and for roaming I can see someone be quite a force on the field but it does require a lot more attention to your health than former bunker eles may be used to.

Judge my build

Slayrix.5789

I suppose if any place was the right place to do this it would be here. Hey guys I was hoping some of you could judge my ele build, recently I’ve been working to respec him and this is sort of what I’ve come up with.
Its more of an all around and luckily I can change out certain traits to be good in both WvW and anywhere else. Yes it is a d/d and although I like all the occurrences of new s/d builds the play style for s/d the weapon still makes my brain melt (no offense but my preference is more towards the dagger’s close range quick movement style).
This of course was inspired by the last part of dapheonix build (still usable after patch btw) but I wanted to try to move to a slightly more dps area rather than the just the flow of ele tanks.

http://gw2buildcraft.com/calculator/elementalist/?1.0|8.1c.h4.8.1c.h1h|0.0.0.0.0.0|1n.71j.1n.71j.1n.71g.1n.71g.1n.71h.1n.71h|211.d19.211.d19.311.d19.311.d19.211.d19.2v.d19|0.a1.a6.k53.u56b|15.1|1l.1u.1s.1v.0|e

Some reasons – Consider these premptive answers to questions I felt I might get asked -

  • You still use 10 air? : Honestly ive gotten a bit too adapted to this to let it slip away and although anet seems to be bent on instead of making this class arguably one of the fastest to arguably average or one of the slowest (at this point warrior, thief, ranger (can), and engi (that knows how) can move faster than us if we do not have this trait) and I don’t feel like taking 5th for fastest class. It was a judge up between geomancers freedom and zephyrs so I sided a bit more towards the DPS
  • Why still using lightning flash?: This was also a huge conflict now that lightning flash is no longer a stun breaker. Cantrips are now only 2 stun breakers with lengthy cool downs but because of this change it looks as though lightning flash is almost perfectly fitted with churning earth and the deadly d/d combo

-Some conflicts-

  • I had a hard time thinking about what to put for 20 water, although elemental abatement is a great skill it doesn’t hold a lot of combat potential (unless somehow your jumping off a keep to annoy the crap out of the zerg below) its great for PvE and exploration but overall its lacking in offense. While on the other hand soothing disruption is not entirely worth it if your not willing to go 30 for cleansing water so for the most part i was a bit directionless here (although since this is still a 3 cantrip build and now that I only have 2 stun breakers it might be a good idea to try and maximize these as much as a i can with cantrip mastery but its still a quandary) .
  • Stone splinters seems to have some issues, as ive seen through some reports the damage only seems to be 5% not 10% so 1 of 3 things will happen either Anet will correct this at some point and give us the 10% (my optimistic point of veiw). Anet will instead fix the tool-tip and keep at 5% (still in my opinioin more reliable now than bountiful power) or…simply forget to fix and we join the necros and engis in the broken traits club.

Try to be nice I keep razors close by in case I get too sad (sarcasm). Although I tried searching around the forums a bit (back like 5 pages) I do feel as though this build might already be around if that’s the case you can just inform and refer me to that as further comment.

Hmmm personally its a step lower than the wintersday event for me it had a similar feel to the wintersday event without the concept of class arrangement since everybody has the same moves (mostly just scrambling for the buffs or zerging in larger numbers since the game’s objective is simply deathmatch rather than take the point or capture the flag).

So in reality no I don’t really find it fun its missing a few things of course team imbalances, lack of actual escape mechanisms (pretty much when you’re getting chased by a group you might aswell just stand still and take the hits and die not a lot is gonna save except for the invisibility which barely shows up).

Sort of incomplete event but as some of us who have played gw2 for a while that seems to be a trending norm

15-20 of us proceed to beat on gate at Redbriar
50-60+ Mag roll up and we live a lot longer than we should have
Mag starts a /laugh taunt

Just so you know Mag, each time you /laugh after wiping a group when you have triple numbers you kill a puppy.

If it makes you feel any better, I spent an hour or so watching my fellow Maguumans get wiped up by equal numbers. It seems a month or so of PvDing against weak servers has made a good portion of my comrades lazy, supercilious and terrible at open field combat.

I felt on the opposite end today, as myself, being from dragonbrand, am use to fighting in open combat much of the time, especially in the last 5 weeks vs TC and FA. It felt weird today attacking Woodhaven on Magumas borderland, and whilst they put up a hell of a fight, eventually after exhausting supply and siege we broke down the gate with PvDoor… lots… of pvdoor….. uhgggg

kitten good fight though!

Well, there is a big difference between our oceanic crew that you were fighting (by oceanic I mean 3 Australians and a bunch of NA insomniacs and early birds) and our daytime karma train zergball. Our oceanic crew is well versed in doing a lot with little resources, whereas our daytime NA karma train just throws people at an objective until it falls, or just moves to an easier target.

Oh god the biggest part about that sentence is it feels so true. I thought that was my imagination, the huge difference in attitudes from your oceanic to NA is a bit strange for the most part though i’ve seen those NA rushes it seems the strategy is just attrition by clogging keeps with their dead bodies and continuing to rush zergs until finally something breaks after a couple of hours
kinda looks like this

but of the oceanic crew and the exception of [DERP] does allow for some slightly different dynamic

Two things

1) If you guys are still discussing how that AC was hitting behind the gates at south hills… an AC below where you build a treb to hit lake tower can hit there behind south hills gate. Pretty standard tactic in tier 1 to clear out siege at south hills.

2) DB please please take this time to point out and educate some of your guys coming into the Tier 1 thread about how DB will come storming in, on how the rating system works.

Yeah, this dude knows what’s up. Even if we tick 300+ for most of the day (which is probably unlikely from here on out) we’ll still be in T2 for a few more weeks at least. 50+k wins It’s actually probably more likely at this point that a T1 server (dare I say, might it actually be JQ?) will drop down than it is DB will advance. If that happens, we’ll get eaten alive. The only way we’d have a chance in T1 right now is to improve our team builds, TS usage, and to become more diligent about following commanders in battle. A zerg who sends 5+ to burst down individual stragglers will soon find itself back at spawn.

Maintaining +50k isn’t a guarantee of moving up. The way the glicko system works is that you are, in some respects, fighting against your past selves. If you win two weeks by +50k, and you win the next week by +40k, chances are your glicko rating is going to DROP, not RISE that week.

Maintaining a +50k average will probably not end up pushing you up a tier, unless a server in the tier above does badly, consistently. At a +50k average, and with a stable tier above, you will just hit a sort-of equilibrium in the tier you’re in where your +50k wins aren’t actually increasing your rating.

Glicko is more complex than it seems from the initial glance. Moving up a tier pretty much requires a server to lay waste to the tier they’re in for two weeks, and often times that won’t even be enough if the tier above them is evenly matched and consistent. This was the case for a long time in T8/T7.

I myself held a similar conclusion, for the most part a good portion of DB knows that we’re going to be in tier 2 for at least 3-4 weeks but even this time period if partially dependant on the dropping on JQ and having it become an uneven match and any form of possible kindness from the glicko system.

Beyond that a lot of us know that striving increasingly hard to get to t1 would cause some issues as when we(if) get there we do not have the numbers or coverage to counter BG, who has recently received quite an influx, so for the most part a lot of us are more concerned with building the server better as a whole and collecting and organizing ourselves as DB has also come into a bit of influx.

On a personal note i’m not too concerned with our T1 progress although I would like to move up eventually i’m ok with staying in t2 for a bit, I personally transferred off JQ due to the overall visceral environment and boredom that can occur and wanted to get into something new and i’m glad TC or FA is actually not affected by it as much and on that note lets try to clean up this thread a bit and make a bit more civil no amount of chest thumping helps anyone except for a broken ego (although i’m not against light teasing)

I do find this funny that the patch has sort of united the servers and guilds associated to the unified reaction of WTF when confronted with the servers wide zerging black-hole where tactics are sort of put secondary and numbers as primary and as hard as the guilds try its hard to separate themselves away from that.

AoE target Limit. Make it dynamic!

Slayrix.5789

So…what if instead we implemented a system that of course removed the AOE limit, reduced the overall damage but made it progressively raise depending on how many targets are in its AOE? It seems to be a valid enough suggestion it would allow people to fight against the lame zerg ball technique while doing what anet wanted which was to allow single target dpsers to have a better role (which I still consider kitten but wtv have to accomadate for your gaming company not the other way around) and of course implement a reduction of overall damage for how many aoes are placed in the same spot at once, so 5 meteor storms in the same spot will have reduced damage initially but raise over time so first meteor shower 100% (raising based on targets) second 80% (raising based on targets) and in that sort of order (numbers could obv be changed around)

GolemvGolem GW2's true injustice

GOLEM V GOLEMING IS TRULY TRULY OUTRAGEOUS!

Ahem…you’ll have to excuse me of that anger outburst but I must admit this golem v golem is quite a travesty. The issues and imbalances are severe and can create a gaming environment that minimizes fun and maximizes abuse let me start off by naming a few of the inconveniences that coexist with this agonizing experience.

1. The RC golem controllers are filthy! Very often during my playtime would I be forced to lay my arms on the disgusting leftovers from a sloppy Asura’s lunch not to mention the buttons are so degraded from grime that they refuse to operate or even when they do they are stuck down covered in the disgusting grease that is so prevalent on such “high value” machines.

2. The games are coded and maintained poorly often causing the golems to stop working in mid game or simply go out and die due to poor programming from the overall skritt brained idiot who developed such machines.

3. The balance issues are enormous the game is all based off the first move first hit unfortunately the game is all based off the orders of players often leaving the second player at a huge disadvantage and the only possible “redemption” for such a deficit is the randomly spawning elemental weapons that appear on the field. At first this seems like a good idea allowing the players to have a chance at turning the tables, unfortunately this is not the case, during your opponents time period he gets to choose how long it takes you to decide your move so he can effectively negate all summoned weapons for you and leave you in a state of constant waiting.

4. This annoys me the most, I could forgive all of the injustices and problems listed above if it were not for this….Your opponent in mid battle can leave the game
LEEEEEAAAAVVVEEE TTHHHEE GAAAAMMMEEE!!!
All your hard work ruined simply because your opponent was “tired” or “wife was having a baby” pfff as if faker for this is say UNFORGIVABLE!

Plizzle Anet I begeth you fix the issues with Golem V Golem if not for your players but for the unborn millions of players to come.

6th playable race, what's your top 3 pick?

in Lore

Posted by: Slayrix.5789

Slayrix.5789

Overall the races that seem to be in discussion so far are the
Margonites
Mursaat
Dwarves
Tengu
Kodan
Centaurs
Largos
Hylek
Quaggen
somebody said something about a Naga
Skritt
Dredge

Overall I don’t see very many of these actually making it into the game as playable races whether it’d be lorical issues (which would require some bullkitten excuse to integrate them in), immersion issues, and just straight comments from the devs saying they wont do it (you don’t need to ask me where these are look throughout the thread). Overall the 3 strongest candidates I could give would be the…

Kodan- The kodan rank 2nd in my probablity due to the fact that they do seem to be giving quite a bit of attention to the storyline but its fairly ambigous leading to the idea that more should come out about the kodan whether it’d be in a kodan dominated zone or coupled with them as a another race.
Tengu- Probably the strongest candidates for the new race idea not only do they have what the kodan have but they also seem to have distinct landmarks in the game that signify doorways into Tengu lands (meaning that were pretty sure something will occur within the Tengu zone so if Anet decides to integrate a new race you can be certain the Tengu will be at the top of the list).
Largos- My weakest candidate, the information about the Largos is interesting and it may be possible to have a Largos based zone but it seems just too out there to make them a playable race the best they have for the story-centric ambiguity is some of the things you hear about the concordant (which I am interested in seeing) but again I cant be entirely sure.

Personally I get what hostility is trying to say
even if he is doing in the most dickish way possible.
He’a just saying that the guardian needs like 1 escape move of some sort and that they shouldn’t always be the class that takes the downfall when the zerg starts to go bad.

Honestly I kinda get where hes coming from I do hate getting chased by 4-5 guys left by a zerg for 10 minutes till they finally get me down because even though I’m able to outlast and regen from there hits for awhile the are still always in hitting range of me so I never really had a chance to get away.

If I could make just a slight change to the guardian class I would actually just make judges intervention both a target and a leap. It wouldn’t be like were an ele and running around with ride the lightning every 15 seconds but it will allow us to have a minor mimic of the skill (be aware judges intervention has a 45 second cd ,36 if traited but honestly that’s two ride the lightnings) so its not a huge mimic of the move just something to get us a little piece of evasive movement.

Should I learn to love Skybringer?

in Guardian

Posted by: Slayrix.5789

Slayrix.5789

Personally with your build I would not stick with that and actually knowing
the stats of Skybringer its not really a weapon for your guardian.

Although I understand the importance and utilization of healing power
the great sword is not the weapon that maximizes its potential .

Lets also not forget those who use the GS heal to somehow make up for the lack of viability
in terms of AH maximization that would to invest a gross amount
of points into zeal and throw off his whole build, if you ask me one
weapon is not worth a complete change of play-style.

Even beyond that, the weapon uses condition damage
(I may receive some reply’s for this)
is one of the worst stats to invest in as a guardian not because
I’m dismissing the power of condition damage overall but the
guardian honestly has like 2 conditions.

A burn (constantly prevalent but overall its dps compared to
bleeds or poisons is on the lower side) a unique condition created
by the great sword (not usually used for the dot itself as it doesn’t
last for an extreme amount of time and is really used for a CC).

So in conclusion no this weapons is about a 1/3 a
pretty deep miss for your build your better off selling it
and get yourself a nice hammer

Personally its not a horrible idea to have a class like this.

But what I want you to do now is actually tell me the probable weakness of the class
(I often read these class suggestions and always find that they make the class overpowered)

I have some of my own ideas after reading this what those weaknesses might be.

The class seems similar to the guardian in terms of blocks
but its large amounts of CCs on attachment to those blocks remind me of a warrior or thief
(not to mention the evades you were discussion earlier go in and out of melee range).
With all of these ways the class has to not be hit (whether It would be blocks/CCs/or evades)
I would have to imagine this class would start out with an extremely low hp pool
(probably around the level of the guardian or thief)

I would imagine its damage to be fairly competent
( not a lot of burst damage but some fair debuffs and boons)
I see this class as much more of a control/support class (much higher emphasis on the control).

The dynamic in play I see for this class is sort of an evasive tanker
that would spends it time sort of evading around the target till it raises its fineness to a point
where It can hold its ground for some time (recharge its cds on evasive moves or recharge endurance)
and dodge again.
Or possibly using the rifle at long range
(I wouldn’t make its damage so severe as suggested but with more knock-backs and immobilization’s)
in order to keep the target standing still and away from you.

Profession: Guardian
Height and body type: I believe on the largest of the Sylvari male body types (the one that is actually on the default sylvari guardian). At mid to higher level height.

As I was perusing the previews for different armors(getting some ideas) I found that a piece of Orrian armor specifically the breastplate has an odd attachment to its neck
(you will see in the screenshot) where it is undyeable and forced to the color red instead of anything else.
I am not sure if this was intentional, someone had suggested to me that this was part of the body mesh and that it was necessary for my characters model to wear that armor. In any case I would like to see this to be removed or at least dyeable ( doesn’t seem too implausible just to link it to another piece of armor color).
