So I made a bunch of mystery tonics for nothing? =/ Awesome.
I can’t put the mystery tonics I made a few hours earlier into the forge for this recipe.
This has been my problem for the past 2-3 weeks, since one of the latest patches, too, although not as constant as you. This problem resembles the same issues I had during BWE3 and the stress tests. It had stopped fully crashing (to where I had to restart my PC) for ages, but the game would still try to crash me out, resulting in pixels appearing over the screen and the sound ‘jamming’, like some graphical lag spike. I’d experience this anywhere from 1-5 times a day. I still experience that, but the game will also completely crash my whole system where all I see is a flat colour take over my screen, and the sound reverberating, requiring a full reset/reboot.
My specs:
Running 1440/900 FS
Windows 7/64bit
Intel I5-2500k
GeForce GTX 570
8GB RAM
Turning down the graphics hasn’t helped. My drivers are up to date. I’m not sure what else I could do.
Yep, very tired of this. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve played a match without majors =[
They could be blowing things like Cantrips (Mist Form, Cleansing Fire, Armor of Earth).
I feel the same way.
I also like how I can get “Obstructed” while about 10ft from my target, on flat glass. With no object higher than ankle level for a mile around.
rofl Ya, that’s always fun with Ride the Lightning.
Is it just me or is this spell not 900 range? It feels like I can never grab someone on the run with this, which is when it would be most useful. It also feels like you need to have pin point precision. If it’s even a little off, you won’t grab your target. I can be head to head with someone but if I’m just a little to the side of them, I won’t be able to anchor them with this spell.
Haven’t seen that one, but if you rename a screenshot in the folder, it won’t save your screenshots anymore. As well, I’ve heard it won’t take anymore after 1000 so you’ll need to either create another ‘Screens’ folder and rename the full one, or move those screenshots.
But it gets blocked out in chat =P
Say for example there was an option in the menu that said, “target only players” ! That would be a care bear option and take away some of the “skill” meta in the game.
Tip do not rely on tab targeting. It’ll always let you down. Work on using your mouse to target your enemy. It’s much more accurate.
But all that being said, there is something that allows you to easily lose target. Im not sure what it is, but I’ve had it happen to me. There are several options in the menu like auto target that I’ve turned off, yet occasionally I will still lose target.
And a ‘care bear’ option is not what I want. I’m not trying to argue this because I just want it to be easy, but it definitely should be easier to target what you want, and to stay on that target. I don’t really understand why there’s a separate keybinding for ‘closest target’ either.
As for losing your target: If you camera turn with left click, you will constantly lose target simply by clicking anywhere in the UI. If you camera turn with right click, you will lose your target by right clicking on another mob. I said it in the beta and I’ll be redundantly repeatative – targeting is just too loose.
Anyway, in every other game I’ve played, tab targeting has always just worked. I definitely do have issues with targeting people by clicking on them in GW2 when it’s just a cluster of all the pets and whatnot. Take for example this scenario [see pic]. You’d think by clicking on Kystom’s nameplate, I’d target him, right? Nope, I target Groullock. And at just the ‘right’ angle, I’d actually target the PVP locker behind Groullock instead of him. I can be hovering perfectly over the letters in either of their names, but nope, it’s going to take the body target over that. In a PVP environment, it tends to be easier to go for a nameplate than the actual character themself when click targeting in one of those ‘cluster’ fights, but that’s not even predictably possible in GW2.
To me this is just a lack of intuitiveness, not a matter of making things easy.

If i couldnt target a mesmers phantasms i would be prettykitten off, same goes for necro minions and rangers pets. Maybe using tab target as your primary targeting technique is not the best way to go.
Maybe I’ve got Illusions confused, but half the necro pets die in one to two shots, and are mostly meant to add damage, not absorb it for the necro. They’re generally not my top priority as a direct target – the necro is. And what would you suggest as an alternative? Click targetting? As I said, if they’re supposed to absorb damage (like ranger pets), they should be tab targetable. Otherwise I’m just “kitten” around with area objects and mobs that disappear from weak AOE and overtime anyway. At least where turrets are concerned.. Why are those on the rotation? I mean you find yourself up against an engineer, a mesmer, and a minion necro and you’ve got anywhere from 13-15(?) targets when only 3 of them are players, and only about 7 of them are worth targeting or really should be TAB targetable for their purpose in the game. It’s not anymore easy to click target in a scenario like that, and even just running into two of these setups can be excessive.
It’s not about giving classes a ‘buff’ somehow either – it’s about making it easier to target the things that matter.
This goes for everywhere in the game, but in particular where PVP is concerned and particular where TAB targeting is concerned. Why in the world would I target a turret in a TAB rotation? I wouldn’t. Given the choice.. I just wouldn’t. Same deal with Mesmer illusions. Clones should be targetable because they’re meant to confuse you, but illusions should not, in my opinion. It’s not like we need to target either of those to damage them anyway. Same goes with half the pets Necromancers spawn. Basically – Unless the spawn is meant to TAKE DAMAGE for the class, it should NOT be targetable. Damageable – yes. Targetable – no.
Driving me slightly nuts Along with the way targets get reset if you happen to right click on someone else. I mean I stopped using the left click to rotate my camera to avoid the issue, but it doesn’t help because I can still end up accidentally retargeting =[ And on top of that, sometimes I’ll accidentally right click on the gigantic nameplate at the top center of my screen and be stuck with a darn menu in my face. One of these days I’m going to accidentally block a friend with that thing.
Wow, okay. Those of you in the 20 ranks who have gotten little to no slivers make me feel like I’m actually having amazing luck. I’ve probably had 10-15 so far at rank 12. I seem to have the best luck getting those from salvaging things I crafted in the forge, but I’m still lost as to what happened to the crystals.
However, approaching it logically, you can buy 5 copper chests for the price of 1 gold chest, there needs to be a strong incentive to buy those chests, and if it turns out that copper chests are the most efficient way of farming materials, ANet will most likely change the drop rates, to encourage different spending patterns.
And this… So much this. It seems they all give the same kind of items, and the same amount, so I don’t know why anyone would buy the gold ones regularly. It’s not like it tells you if the items are rank #X, so it at least feels like you’re just getting the same stuff. Whether that’s true or not, I think they’d be better off putting less items in copper, more in gold.
Well, I don’t know what the deal is, but I could have sworn I’d gotten them more often from salvaging items from chests. Finally did get some slivers from salvaging items I made in the forge though. Still no crystals. I think I give up for now =P
And yes, I’m certain those items were from a salvaged item. I don’t know which item, but a guildy suggested it was probably a hammer [I’m assuming they’ve seen this happen themselves].
I’ve salvaged a LOT of silver chest items today, and not even seen one of them. Am I doing something wrong or did they lower the ‘droprate’ of them? Are they only from gold chests now? Because I now have:
113 mystic powder
11 free tournament tokens
21 deer tokens
1 brand new spiffy rabbit token from a deer chest item?
43 arcane orbs
2 mithril ore (yes, from a salvaged pvp item….)
Not even a sliver to be seen in my haul =[
Anyone else disappointed in the way hair disappears with helms? Maybe it’s just the model I chose, but the Savant Helm is the one which I’ve wanted all along. Seeing it on my character though… Not so much:
Since the bandana item was found from talking to an NPC, I’ve been talking to every NPC I can find, but I haven’t found any that clearly indicate any interaction that would have them give anything in return. I know there are tricks like kneeling at statues and such that also give buffs, and doors that open with emotes. I’ve been trying all of these things with anyone/thing that seems like it might have some secret to it, but maybe I’m wasting my time. I end up just feeling defeated for doing stupid things in front of inanimate objects and NPC’s =P
Do you think there are more items that are found this way? I mean, Anet has said that everything you see NPC’s wearing in the game can be worn by your own character. I must have them! I really hope they’re not going to end up being 99% gem shop items. Have you found any?
The target ground circle disappears from under your target’s feet when they jump, making targeting people that much more confusing in PVP environments.
“Might” not be so terrible if our 3 would come off cooldown before someone slams a stake in us.
So much this. I was shocked to enter sPVP and see a 7s CD for the 3 skill. I started asking around if it’s the same for everyone when I saw every other class zipping around within a second of being downed.
As to the point about 2 meant to keep people at range, that’s pretty useless if a) they’re ranged and b) you’re melee anyway. It really does need to be reworked because I tend to just sit on my butt waiting for them to finish me if I’m downed; it’s that pointless.
Sorry, maybe it was my wording – I meant that I switch attunements to air all the time for the speed bonuses (including the the spells associated with staff). I do love me some precision =]
This spell drives me just a little batty. I spec into air all the time simply to gain the running speed boosts, but this minor trait often puts me into combat. It hits anything in range, non-agroing mobs included. Perhaps it could be set so it doesn’t activate unless we’re already in combat?
This skill is definitely buggy, particularly in sPVP. It seems that either it or the ground is not optimized, as you get caught on ‘invisible obstacles’. Very annoying! Dare I suggest that it might be better as a ground target ability? This way you could better use it for both making the grab on your enemy and as an escape option (which is what I’d expect). I’m not really a fan of ground targeting, but I don’t know how else this spell could be better utilized.
