EU does not have the population to support 27 servers or anything close to it. All that would be achieved by unlinking is a few more dead tiers. Obviously Anet made a huge mistake with Gunnar’s link and SFR seems to have collapsed but that does not mean linking has not been a good thing for most servers.
People seem to forget how empty WvW was in the lower tiers before linking while now as least you can find fights whenever you log in.
Try out commanders for boon duration.
I’m messing around with a commanders set myself in an interrupt build and it works well enough for now. With chaotic interruption and furious interruption it’s very easy to keep up 25 might, regeneration, protection and quickness when soloing pve content.
OP did say he wanted to try a different style of build so I don’t understand why people bother to criticise his choice. Not everyone has to play the same boring meta builds and stats.
It is because you are linking in chat. You won’t be blocked from typing the name out normally or any other chat.
It will take time for the servers to be back to normal, don’t worry.
Good job on getting the issue fixed so quickly and keeping us informed Anet and thanks for all the hard work. Also thanks to all those in GW1’s LA, brought back a lot of nostalgia.
that’s a lot of stuff to do in 2 and a half hours…. impressive lol. I lost my daily rewards so nothing too major. Being a long time MMO player im still wary of doing anything significant on patch days. Kudos to Anet for spotting the issue so quickly and fixing it before it got out of control.
Sorry that you were so unlucky but i had a great time on GW1 myself. Was nice to see the game populated again for a few hours.
Mesmer is and always will be held back by a few gimmicky skills such as portal being deemed so utterly god-like that having a strong profession as well as these skills is just unfair.
Meanwhile in soloq, where portal isn’t as useful, you are countered hard by DH, condi zerker, druids.. all of which are very popular this season. Yet people will just point to Moa as if it wins games single-handedly and say mesmer is op.
So lets balance the entire profession around 1-2 skills because that makes perfect sense… Gimmick skills will always drag us down.
The sad thing is most people, including myself, thought it was a bug at first lol. Recently been doing map completion and they pop up everywhere with the /sad emote.
Creepy but brilliant by anet imo. Definitely looking forward to the story now… hopefully the wait isn’t too long.
Bat matriarch is a different event that repeats after outpost is finished. The one you want is “protect the ogres as they carry chak eggs to the mordrem nest”. You can tell it has been completed by going into tree and seeing trolls there. If the chain hasn’t finished the tree will have mordrem.
They most likely lowered the difficulty due to there being so many complaints in the forums about hot story being too difficult, which is fine. I would like to see the return of hard mode from gw1 though lol.
3000+ hours and 2 so far.
The Bard and The Legend, both from Modniir Ulgoth funnily enough.
Funnily enough GW1 has a similar elite skill to what you suggest called Echo lol. You would be able to copy one of your skills for a set period of time including its cd so it could be used multiple times as a copy of that skill.
I’d prefer a return to skills like arcane mimicry/thievery from GW1 which copied an enemy’s skill especially in pvp situations. It could lead to some really interesting fights and builds.
bruh, do you even play games?
Ff stories are not meant to provide a challenge, then why don’t they just go make movies?
Seriously though, there’s a difference between difficulty and lazyness.
Even though its probably pointless to explain, I’ll try. The main storyline of a game is never tuned to be the most difficult content even if, in the lore, they are the perceived as the strongest. This is done so that everyone can experience the story that they paid for. The only games that have truly challenging story content are games that have nothing else to offer afterwards.
The first thing any player does is play the story and as such it should be tuned towards a beginner player while steadily building in difficulty to prepare them for the optional end game content. Personally i think they did well to keep it achievable by all yet not entirely boringly easy.
Outwith GW2, you can see this is many games such as Final Fantasy where the toughest enemies are usually side quests and as such not the big bad guy in the story. Yet i guess they are just “movies” to you too.
The fact you call it “too casual” shows you do not understand what Anet set out to achieve in GW2 anyway. If raids and fractals are too hard for you I suggest you try dungeons for some more difficult story content.
TD isn’t as popular as it needs a lot more organisation and all 4 lanes need to do their part throughout the event. During AB you can support another side after yours is low with no consequences and so it far more pug friendly.
Best way to get Leyline crystals by far Is to farm champs/misc events after outposts are done. Can usually get about 1.5k during one cycle.
I disagree with this completely. Just because people don’t tag/apple up doesn’t mean they don’t help. I’ve seen plenty of people post in map chat for help to have several people reply and help them. Gw2 definitely has a great community at its core.
Yet anyone who has tagged up knows that chat warriors are out there and is probably a reason many don’t tag up. Personally I still enjoy it but trolls will attack any mistake you make really. The majority you helped are usually silent.
There has been a new raid and a new fractal added recently for “hard” content. Try high level fractals or raids for some difficult content. Either that or go true hardcore and only do it in white starter gear with no traits lol.
Living world instances should never be hard or even remotely so, as their main purpose is the story and lore in general. Gating the main storyline behind any forced difficulty wall would be unfair to those who are not as skilled at the game.
TLDR you are looking for challenging content in all the wrong places. Story and open world is meant to be accessible to all not just incredible pro players like yourself.
This just isn’t possible with GW2. The whole game even before release was to be centred on the elder dragons. Also, from my experience, the old expansion model would kill off old zones as everyone went to the new continent. GW2 has done a far better job at keeping old content relevant and populated imo.
GW2 and its continuing storyline has far more potential and allows them to really flesh out the lore. This latest living story has to some of the best lore and story telling I’ve ever seen from Anet (been addicted since prophecies). The last part of the living story was incredible and that’s without mentioning the genius of adding the sad anomalys around the world with no explanation at all. Definitely makes me more excited for the next chapter, lore wise, than any expansion to date.
P.S. Everyone knows Factions was the best expansion.
For me personally, the waypoint system is far better than the standard mount way of things in mmorpgs. I can understand the cosmetic part but it doesn’t seem worth it considering the amount of work that would be needed to implement it into the game.
I’d rather they focused on new weapon/armour skins instead…
To a lesser extent, the mushroom collecting event in the Nuhoch quest chain has the same issue but at least they drop multiple items each time. With 40+ people, the amount you need is ridiculous.
Sartharina pointed out the problem quite well. The scaling in both the enemies and the number of parts needed compounds so quickly that it gets ridiculous with a full squad. Anet should limit the scaling to one or the other rather than scaling both.
TD meta is a little like the dragons stand meta. You need to be there early to catch the one map actually doing it. Just look in the lfg 10 minutes before it starts and look for an organised map or an event farm (just post in map chat about meta and people usually tag up).
If, for some reason, there is nothing in LFG post your own simply saying “meta map need comms”. i’m sure there will be people like you looking for a meta map.
How is a new player meant to realise what’s soft CC and hard CC and the differences between them without explanation. When you tell people to spam CC at Vinetooth they may focus on crippling it without realising it only does a tiny amount of damage over time to the breakbar. You can’t blame people for being confused.
I’d love breakbar effects added to skills yet even a practice golem in the silverwastes with a NPC that explains the breakbar mechanic would be very helpful to new players to try out their skills without the threat of dying. Players in a game shouldn’t have to use outside sources to learn basic key mechanics.
New legendaries cost between 2.6k-2.8k to craft at the moment. About the same as the higher end old legendarys.
I think people are under estimating just how long it takes to get a gift of exploration when making an old legendary.
Although i do find it a bit too long to do regularly, the main thing I don’t like compared to the other metas is that all 3 lanes are very similar and there’s little variation to motivate me to go back and do it again. It just seems a bit rushed imo. Yet id rather they worked on new content than tweaking existing maps.
Having made Nevermore and a few old legendarys, I’d say the are very similar really. The collections for HoT precursors could be compared to the amount of effort it takes to get world completion. Although, if you have the gold to buy your way through the HoT collections, it can be much quicker to make a HoT legendary.
Vinetooth has a 10 minute timer… I wouldn’t recommend you solo it unless you are very knowledgeable about your class. Far easier/quicker to group up.
RNG at its finest lol. At one point I managed to get 4 in a row yet my last part for the torch took over 2 full DS maps to get. Probably best to unlock all the machined collections first before farming DS if you haven’t already though.
The problem with Vinetooth Prime is that it is all about the breakbar mechanic which is poorly explained to new players through just playing the game and most people, like this post shows, just spam chat to CC which some may not understand then rage when it goes wrong…
A few tips that I find useful when running a Vinetooth kill:
1. Start up or look for a LFG party straight after the meta has finished.
2. Explain the fight early, giving enough time for people to change their builds.
3. Explain the breakbar mechanic to the group. Hard CC is what you need. If unsure yourself, look up defiance bar in the wiki.
4. Ping key skills you use, for example I main a Mesmer so i make sure they know to bring signet of humility etc. Usually the rest of the squad who know what to do follow suit with their profession.
Just remember that damage isn’t important as long as you can manage the breakbar. Explaining to people what to do rather than saying git gud does wonders.
I personally like that the legendary collections require you to do events/bosses that you would not normally think of trying. I had a lot of fun doing the Nevermore collection myself.
I’d suggest LFG for any HoT events or champs that you need, whether you lead yourself or jump into an event farm. Even if the champ/event is not usually done just ask in squad chat and people don’t usually mind. If anyone’s really struggling (and EU) feel free to whisp me if I’m online and I can help organise it.
As for core Tyria, if you can solo look for empty maps e.g. any map with a world boss will have dead maps as they spawn. If you can’t solo try LFG or shout in map chat that there’s a champ and people come running lol.
Non Raiders blocked from XP bar spirit shards
in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

This is not true… I am currently sitting at 162 having not had anything to do with raids so far and yet I earn spirit shards as per normal.
Although this did only recently change as I used to only have a full XP bar although I’m not 100% sure when the change occured.
